The Best Matcha Drinks, Dishes, and Desserts in Houston

"This Sugar Land coffee shop is a true destination. Kohiko prides itself on Japanese-style coffees and drinks, including ceremonially grade matcha offered in strains of soft, almond-forward Seion and the creamy, slightly grassy Uji Homare. Enjoy in more traditional forms — as a latte, cortado, Americano, or as a tea, or try the Moshi Moshi, a light combination of banana, brown sugar, matcha, and milk that might remind you of banana bread in drink form." - Brittany Britto Garley

The Best Coffee Shops in Houston

"This pristine Japanese-style coffee house in Sugar Land is a destination for coffee enthusiasts. Top sellers include the Moshi Moshi, an iced combination of banana, brown sugar, espresso, and a dash of matcha for bitterness. The Okinawa latte is another standout, combining black sesame with rich, smoky Okinawan brown sugar for a balance of savory and sweet. Matcha here is offered in multiple ways, including traditional, Americano, or in a latte made with housemade syrups. Pair your drink with treats like doughnuts, cookies, bundt cakes, and other pastries from local Filipino bakery Jambeto’s for a delightful experience." - Brianna Griff, Brittany Britto Garley

I was excited to try Kohiko Coffee House and I am so glad I did — Their limited drinks are very creative and full of flavor. I wish the menu explained the taste profiles better because the flavors are so different than anything you get at a typical coffee shop, it’s hard to understand what you are ordering. My suggestion would be a menu that explains the limited drinks in a way where you can compare to someone most people have tried in a more traditional setting. They also offer the traditionals, like americano, cortado and espresso. We enjoyed the limited offering drink, Houjicoco. It was robust, sweet and nutty. The space has a large table where you can sit and work, individual cubbies, a living room style couch area and another small bench seating for two people. During peak hours, the place is packed. You should know that there is limited parking and many folks park along the street. The staff was very sweet and welcoming. The reasons for a 4-star rating is the smaller size drink, the lack of offering several sizes, and the limited explanation on the menu - I will, however, return to try other options.

Google
Kohiko Coffee House has been my go-to coffee shop for months, and I can't recommend it enough! The owner and staff are incredibly friendly—I’m on a first-name basis with the baristas, and they always make me feel like a valued customer. The drinks are amazing, and the atmosphere is perfect for working, studying, or just hanging out. Whether you're a coffee lover or just looking for a cozy spot to relax, this is the place to be. I always recommend Kohiko to my friends and family. Definitely a must-visit!

Google
Favorite place for unique coffees, Japanese inspired. Have special coffees they also introduce ever once in a while. A great place to study, vibes are on point. Everyone is always super friendly.

Google
10/10 experience. Super cozy coffee shop. I loved how unique their drinks were! My matcha was delicious, not too sweet & perfectly balanced. Customer service was amazing! Only thing I disliked was the limited parking.

Google
Came here to study and get some work done. First time here. The place was very cute, loved how we can watch them make the drinks at the coffee bar. Moshi Moshi was surprisingly bitter. I thought it would be a sweet coffee drink haha. I mean you def taste the banana, but the drink itself is not sweet. It wasn't bad though. Def WOKE me UP. 7.8/10 (from preference I like sweet drinks) Brown sugar matcha latte is SO POPULAR and I know why. It's really good! I spent 5 hours here and I see them making that drink non-stop. Everyone was ordering it. I do recommend if you don't know what to get. It's sweet but not overly sweet. If you like dark coffee, it may be too sweet for you, in which case you can always ask for less sweet. 9/10 In all I like the place. Got very crowded right before they close though. Crying baby, crowd out the door, big groups, I could hear them through my noise cancelling headphones, but I didn't let it take my focus away from my work. It was just a passing thought. It was more quiet from 12-3PM. Place is def worth a try though! Clean restrooms as well! Note: -they have happy hour starting at 3 (or 4) - 6PM where it’s 50% off bakery items. I didn’t see that sign until we left xc. -lots of outlets + hangers for bags under tables

Google
Very interesting flavors in addition to the traditional coffees. I got the latte with black sesame in it and it was a fun change! It’s a toasted flavor that’s Overall not my favorite but I’d like to keep trying what they have. They also have lots of matcha options that’ll be next for me. The inside is decorated with cute Pokémon everywhere and has individual cubicles if you ever want to solo study or work. Very adorable and productive setting.

Google
I was really excited to try this matcha place and even drove 30 minutes to get there. I paid $10 for a matcha, and when I received it, the cup wasn’t even filled all the way to the top. When I politely asked about it, I was told “we only fill it for rational size,” which felt dismissive and confusing. For the price, I expected not only a full cup but better customer service. Disappointing experience overall

Yelp
This place is no secret to Houston anymore, and for good reason! This is probably one of the better cafes for a good Hojicha. I've been multiple times now, even though it's quite out of the way for me the drinks are certainly worth the hassle. Their aesthetic is really strong, lending itself to be a great spot for people to come study with a limited outdoor area that might be good for larger groups. It's worth the drive if you're looking for some gooooood drinks.

Yelp
$8 drink + $1 oat milk + $1 tip = $10 drink I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk and black sesame syrup. I asked for light ice and this was the drink I got prior to drinking it. I think it's pretty shocking to receive a 1/4 less of a drink from an already small cup to begin with. The matcha flavor wasn't fragrant, the syrup was a bit too sweet and over powered the black sesame flavor. I see this place all over social media with great review. Sad to say it was pretty overhyped and was disappointed with the drink. I've had much better matcha elsewhere for half the price.

Yelp
Come in to see the interior design. Watch the matcha whisking process. Leave with a great matcha drink to taste. It's a small tea shop. It's a nice set for work / study but try your luck first. Parking is rather limited. There are some 'cubies' for individual sitting, 5-6 chairs facing the matcha making bar, 1 coffee table for 4 and a long table for a bit more. Otherwise, try sitting at their covered patio (?!). There are many choices of matcha style, hot or cold, latte and even sesame style. Or if you want coffee, that's fine too! The staff is really kind at explaining the difference of all. Once on order, you can watch their drink preparation process and I think that's mesmerizing. Hot water is a station, cold water is another, whisking is behind, coffee machine in the other corner. So many steps yet, organized and smooth. Just like that tea. Taste is very matcha so you gotta like it. Not the prepared green drink you'd buy. This place is giving me inspiration for my own dreamy tea/coffee bar at home. A bit far from town but definitely remembering to pass by when I'm in the Sugar Land area! Recommend!

Yelp
I've heard so many good things about Kohiko's matcha and I had high expectations! I came on a sunday morning and it was packed! There was limited parking and only a couple of seats at their big table available. A lot of my relatives did not know what to get and the barista was super helpful with recommendations according to the taste profile that we described. I got the uji latte with brown sugar. I loved the matcha flavor and felt like it balanced with the milk nicely. My only complaint would be that I couldn't really taste the brown sugar. 8/10 though! My aunt got the uji latte with no syrup and thought it was perfectly bitter and earthy. My cousin and grandma really liked their Okinawa latte too.
google avatar

Yelp
The ambiance and service was good! We had the almond and chocolate croissant (ask for it to warmed) and it was fluffy and crisp. We also tried all of their matcha specialties series and they were all v good. You can test the matcha in all of them! Theres cute sitting area so it's a perfect place to study - highly recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
Ambiance is really pretty, and relaxed. I love the Japanese inspired venue and feel this place is a must for coffee lovers around this side of town. I like the outside sitting area too which I spent time with friends catching up on our lives. Definitely would come back here. Oh, and try their matcha drinks (my favorite)!

Yelp
I went to a pop up and they happened to have a Kohiko popup inside as well. I decided to try it since I've never been to Kohiko before. They only had 3 options, I chose the regular matcha latte and added vanilla as a sweetener. This is the most expensive matcha I've ever had in Houston so far. I didn't like how they had a hidden $1 latte fee when the menu with the price has the word "latte" in it already. The color looked promising though and I was excited to try it. The first half of my drink just tasted like vanilla and when I got to the second half of my drink it just tasted like unsweetened matcha. I was pretty disappointed with this. Their lid had double slits so it was really hard to move the straw around to mix the drink, but I suppose it was my fault for now fully mixing it. Kohiko is far though so I probably won't go back again, and it is very pricey

Yelp
I've been drinking matcha for several years now, and now with the current matcha craze it's hard to find actually good matcha. Also can we please stop putting concoctions in our matcha!?! Rant over, matcha 10/10 at Kohiko I specifically order the matcha cortado it's equal parts matcha and milk. It only comes hot and I do not add any sweetener. The service is fast and the baristas are friendly. The place is usually packed but they have lots of seating indoor and outdoor. It's a great place to work/study and also meet up with friends. Definitely on my match rotation!
google avatar

Yelp
I got this order to go, so I can't speak much about the coffee house's ambiance or service, but the Orchard in Bloom was exactly what I was looking for in a drink. While I didn't get much of the osmanthus, I loved the nostalgic taste of the apple cider flavor. The Biscoff coffee paired well with it.
google avatar

Iman Z.

Yelp
I loved working at this cafe. I wanted to try something different and the black sesame latte was amazing. Perfect balance of nutty and umami flavors without being too sweet. Would highly recommend trying it out. They have plenty of seating and even an outdoor area. The vibes are perfect if you're looking to get some work done. The only downside is that parking is a little limited. 10/10 would come back!

Yelp
I was super excited to try kohiko after seeing all the hype on social media, but it ended up being so disappointing. I don't even want to say I tried the wrong drink because regardless, the matcha should be good, right? I got the uji homare latte with brown sugar syrup. I paid over $8 for the drink. At a price like that, I'd expect a specialty latte... It was way too milky, and I couldn't even taste the brown sugar syrup. Literally looked like there was only half a pump in there. I just chugged it to finish it, not because I was enjoying it. While there are two different options to choose from for the matcha, I honestly don't think there would have been a distinct difference btwn the two... both would've still just tasted super watered down/milky. At least the service was great, and the interior is nice! However, I won't be back.

Yelp
I love walking into a coffee shop and having baristas make recommendations! This looks like a great place to study, the patio was a nice touch with plenty of seating. I got the Moshi Moshi- light non acidic banana flavor. It was so yummy! My sis got the Vanilla latte, I wish all lattes tasted like their!! I'll definitely be back even though it's 20min away!!

Yelp
Came on a Saturday morning around 1030am and the place was pretty much packed already. Keep that in mind if you were meeting a big group here. They do have cubbies hole seating against the wall. Great for those studying. A small love seat and a community table then bar stool seating. Parking can be a bit tricky. Very limited parking in the actual lot only because it is a shared lot with other businesses. Your best bet is going to be street parking. Pastries are delicious. They have sweet and savory croissant and mini ones also. Different selections on matcha and well as non matcha and non caffeine options. Matcha is delicious and can choose your sweetness level. Love the pokemon decor and they have a pokemon stop if you play Pokemon go. They do have outside seating but not sure how it would be in Houston heat.

Yelp
I was so excited when I heard about Kohiko opening as I love their concept which is essentially a Japanese inspired coffee shop. They are located in Sugar Land in a small plaza, there's usually not much parking available and even when I go during the day the coffee shop is pretty much full. I've waited awhile to write this review because I wanted to give them another chance and to try more drinks. So far I've tried the: Okinawa Latte Moshi Moshi Kohi Momo Matcha Latte Unfortunately, while I love the idea behind these drinks I find that their espresso and matcha both seem to be watered down to me. I'm not sure if it's because they use smaller pebble ice or for another reason but I just don't get that stronger coffee taste that I prefer in my lattes. Overall, I wouldn't be opposed to coming back since I work in the area and have found myself returning when I see a new drink on their menu, hoping this is the one that I"ll love. But it's not my first choice in general

Yelp
Was visiting SugarLand for a wedding and stumbled upon this place! I ordered 2 drinks the moshi moshi and the Houjicoco. Idk why I was thrown off that there was coffee in the moshi moshi bc I was expecting more matcha-y lol, wasn't a huge fan of the artificial banana flavoring tho. Their descriptions of the drink is exactly what it was as far as taste and mouthfeel!
google avatar

Yelp
Nut allergy friendly - flavors say "nutty" but the drinks are not actually made with nuts except for their Seion drink that has almond paste. Parking is interesting here - a lot of people just parallel park along the curb. We arrived at around 4:30PM near their closing time and got our drinks within 6 minutes of ordering, with about 3-4 people ahead of us. It seems like quite a popular spot for people to work and study, as there are a few single-seat desks in the corner of the shop. Their croissants are delicious (from Love Croissants). The small ones are exceptionally flaky and they serve them nice and hot. Happy hour nearer to closing, which makes them half off with a drink order. I got the moshi moshi recommended drink. The hints of banana definitely come through. It was a tad sweet for me (I believe they mention that they use 20g of simple syrup, and you can definitely see them performing measurements while they make drinks). It is an expensive drink (around $8 for a 12oz matcha) but the care and quality put into it is clear. It's far from main Houston but I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that happens to be in the Sugar Land area.

Yelp
I highly recommend the Okinawa latte. It has the perfect amount of sweetness. The place was packed on a weekday morning but service was quick and everything was clean.
google avatar

Tabitha H.

Yelp
Kohiko is a clean and inviting café with a nice atmosphere for working or studying. They offer free Wi-Fi, and I saw quite a few people set up with their laptops. The café also has a parking lot. I ordered the Okinawa Latte, and while it was good, it was also on the pricey side - $7.31 after tax. There's only one drink size which is 8oz. Overall, it's a nice spot, but the price point might make it more of an occasional treat rather than a regular go-to.

Yelp
Had to try the new and popular coffee place in southwest Houston and I felt like this place lived up to the hype. This cute Japanese style coffee house was in a small shopping center and didn't have much to be flashy about on the outside hut stepping inside, there was a beautiful and clean ambiance. I loved the clean lines, the warmth of the soft wood accents, and the varied seating options from single cubicles, to a group table, to the bar, or even a couch. The drinks were also quite special. They of course have your typical coffee house menu but they have their own specialty which I highly recommend. The one thing that wasn't my favorite was that parking was limited. I lucked out with a parking spot but not sure where others after me parked.
google avatar

AJ H.

Yelp
Friendly staff, good environment to work and study. Limited parking, but they do put really unique types of coffees and matcha for sale. Pro tip, just park in the lot next door or street parking in the neighborhood
google avatar

Jackie P.

Yelp
A local friend told me about this place and raved about the drinks. The ambiance was very relaxed and the space is designed with working spaces and casual sit-in spots. I went with the Houjicoco which had a nice light not too sweet. The barista's recommendation was super helpful and was friendly. My husband also thoroughly enjoyed the drip coffee as well.
google avatar

Kristen P.

Yelp
Love love love Kohiko! I usually get an iced matcha which runs about $7. The tea is very high quality and tastes unlike any other matchas I've had. The staff are very knowledgeable and can answer any questions or make recommendations too. They also have study pods which is nice if you need to focus and not be distracted by other people. I will mention that they usually get pretty busy and sometimes it's hard to find a seat, so I wouldn't recommend it for a meeting with a large group of friends.
google avatar

Daniel T.

Yelp
A bit overrated in my opinion. Like some of the other reviews, I think it's worth checking out this place, but it doesn't exactly blow me away. A few cons right off the bat - the parking in the plaza here is extremely limited and the seating space is also very limited. If you're trying to study out of this cafe there's only a few private booths. The drink flavors definitely are pretty unique and the service was very friendly as expected. I tried the Okinawa latte and the Moshi Moshi. You can definitely taste the banana in the Moshi Moshi and the seasame in the Okinawa latte, but surprisingly, they both tasted a little underwhelming to me. I didn't get the bold taste of espresso in either drink and the banana in the Moshi Moshi was lacking a ton. It almost tasted as if the drinks were watered down a bit. The sesame taste in the Okinawa latte is defnitely stronger and sweeter, so I liked the Okinawa latte over the Moshi Moshi, even though on paper the Moshi Moshi sounded better. Aside from that, I don't think I'd ever be a regular here because of the limited parking and seating space and the drinks tasted mid to me.
google avatar

Calvin D.

Yelp
Moshi moshi would have to be my favorite drink from this beautiful Japanese coffee shop. They have such a great staff and customer service. I'm always greeted upon entering the door and staff always gives their recommendations on what to order. It took no longer than 5 minutes to get my drink. Will def come back when I'm in the area. If you like matcha, definitely come here and give it a try!

Yelp
Tried to visit their opening week missed it! So excited to finally come by and see it. Super super cute inside with plenty of seating (some outside as well). I love the little desk nooks for doing work! Such a good idea for a coffee shop. It was clean inside and the staff were so pleasant and welcoming!! I ordered the Okinawa latte and really enjoyed it. It was a really good latte in general and was super smooth. The sesame flavor was light and a nice touch. But personally I love black sesame and would've loved it to be stronger and more of the main flavor. The only issue is not a lot of parking (some of it is for nearby businesses only). And some of their parking is only for 15 minutes. Luckily there is a bunch of stores and giant public parking around the corner if you ever need to find a spot. Hope to visit again soon!
google avatar

Yelp
This is such a cute coffee shop to get some good quality coffee or matcha drink. My husband got the Okinawan latte, & I got a matcha latte. Both were delicious, as it was perfectly subtly sweet. The staff are very nice and professional as well. Happy to stop by here again when we're in Houston.

Yelp
I was in the area one day and I am so glad that I stumbled upon this place! I needed a place to study, I like matcha, what a perfect combination of the two! I have been here 3-4 times and also participated in their popup with Moneycat last month as well (: Everyone was so helpful in explaining the different drinks, flavors, and they were all very knowledgeable about the matcha that they use. I have gotten the regular iced matcha with brown sugar syrup, matcha with black sesame, OC Nikkei, and the Moshi Moshi. Out of all of them, I really liked the iced matcha latte with black sesame syrup! I would describe the flavor as nutty (kinda like peanut butter) and it goes really well with the matcha. The OC and Moshi had matcha and espresso and the only reason I didn't like it as much (although very good and unique!!) was because I am sensitive to caffeine and the double caffeine from the matcha and espresso was overkill for me. However, I know that a lot of people like these two very much! Whenever I am able to get a seat, I am able to study comfortably for a few hours. The internet is reliable, fast and even with a lot of people also working on their laptops, the internet never crashes. A very comfortable place to hang out and/or study as this is a nice, cozy, and aesthetic place to be. Definitely recommend this place if you are in the sugarland area!

Yelp
Our first time...needed an espresso drink. Very welcoming vibe, calming music in the background, pleasant, patient, & helpful staff. Met the owner Nic, very nice! He was brewing tea, very authentic! Lots of great options and custom made drinks available. Got a latte and matcha latte to get the original flavors. Not disappointed at all, very balanced taste. Will definitely be back to try one of the specialties.

Yelp
I visited this spot one rainy Saturday because the reviews and photos looked so good. Also, I am a big fan of anything banana. This may be one of sugar land's hidden gems right now. Apparently, everyone comes here to study because nearly all the seats were filled with students on laptops. I was able to get a better seat after waiting around 20 mins. The entire time I was there, there was basically a line to the door just to order. I ordered the iced mochi mochi and the hot Okinawa latte. I enjoyed the mocha one, but it mine didn't have much banana flavor. I preferred the Okinawa since it had a much stronger flavor. They really need to expand the place. They have the drive thru (from the former business) area that they are not utilizing to their full potential. There is only 1 wooden table out there, which is not usable basically when it's too hot, too cold, or heavy rain. If they closed in this section, it would be even better.

Yelp
Love this new coffee spot in Sugar Land. The interiors were modern and simple. Very chill atmosphere for studying or getting some work done. They have individual booth if you want your own space. Also love the Pokémon plushies scattered around for decor. The staff were friendly and service was pretty quick. I tried the matcha latte and the moshi moshi. Also added some brown sugar because I like mine on the sweeter side. The quality was solid and the matcha was my favorite. Would definitely stop by when I'm in Sugar Land. Hope they open more locations in the future.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped here for a cup of coffee after lunch. We tried the matcha seion (sweet and creamy) and houjicoco (unique taste). I'm not a big matcha fan so I was surprised that I liked the seion drink. The houjicoco was quite different. It's kind of hard to explain it. It was kind of smokey and nutty. It definitely gave that toasty like flavor. The staff were nice and spoke loud and clearly . This place was filled with a lot of people studying or working, even on a Sunday. There's also an outdoor area and a few private booth desk seats. The parking is free and out front.

Yelp
This place is great. They have a nice variety of beverages and plenty of space indoors and outdoors. There are even mini cubicles for studying. Parking is a bit tight tho

Yelp
Came with a friend and got the moshi moshi and the hojicoco. The moshi moshi was super unique, it's like a latte with a hint of sweetness from the banana (8.5/10) The hojicoco was also yummy with earthy flavors from the hojicha combined with the sweetness of syrup. It was not too sweet and perfect for a hot day. (9/10) The only downsides are the limited parking and seating, but the place is very cute and well decorated. The staff is also really friendly and helpful with the menu.

Yelp
A spontaneous trip around on a Sunday. My sister and I were looking for something to celebrate National Coffee Day. Ultimately we decided on one place from great reviews, Kohiko Coffee House. We both have never been and it was a no brainer. We decided to go right after our trip to the Asian market and car wash. Walking in, it was apparent how busy the coffee house is. Almost all the seats were taken inside and out. I decided to go with the Moshi Moshi and it was great in flavor. It is definitely different from the typical coffee I would get from other shops. This was light in flavor profile, unique and something I really appreciate that makes it stand out. Overall I found the visit to Kohiko Coffee House a unique experience. The layout of the business stood out and felt home like casual. But the menu is a handful of choices and not overwhelming to make it simplistic. One small point that makes it challenging is parking availability because of the small area. But nothing wrong for the visit experience at all. I hope to stop in again for more creations on the menu but popularity is hard to ignore for the artistry in each cup.

Yelp
I love when you can taste each flavor individually and together; when that happens you know they're doing it right. the flavors here stand alone and together. that's wonderful craftsmanship.

Yelp
I was out in the Sugar Land area for a change, and was excited to finally try Kohiko. I am obsessed with hojicha these days but sadly they were out. It was later in the day and I didn't want the high caffeine of matcha so the server suggested I try soba cha. I asked for a splash of oat milk and light ice. When he handed it to me I was skeptical since it looked like watered down milk but it was absolutely delicious! With a light nutty flavor and not too sweet, it tasted like a wafer cookie and the oat milk probably wasn't needed but complemented the taste of the tea. The space is small but had plenty of seating where you could choose to study or relax and listen to the lo-fi that played at a non-annoying volume. Service was great and the place immaculately clean. I will definitely go back the next time I am in the area.

Yelp
I'm thrilled to have found another coffee shop in Sugar Land that truly understands coffee, has amazing customer service, and a welcoming atmosphere. What helps me appreciate a good shot of espresso is knowing the vast amounts of variables that can significantly alter the taste of a shot. To name a few are origin of the beans, roasting profile, quality of water, puck preparation, extraction process, and recipe. Based on watching the baristas carefully make coffee and tasting their drinks, I'm confident that owner has enthusiasm and passion for good coffee. Beans are locally roasted with a profile that is unique to only Kohiko. What also makes them standout is the Japanese themed flavors drinks and atmosphere. There's nothing like it in the area. I had the Okinawa latte. It's their shot of espresso, milk, black sesame seeds, and simple syrup. One taste and you'll be hooked. I really want to keep trying their different flavors, but it's hard for me to stray away from this one. I really like how the place feels open. With the low counter height, you are able to watch the baristas in action. They carefully weigh their ingredients to give that perfect consistency each time. Today, I watched someone pour a nicely stacked tulip in a small paper cup - impressive. Service is always friendly and welcoming to everyone. I had a quick chat with one of their baristas on my first visit, even though he seemed busy. Appreciate the small talk. Come give this place a try!

Yelp
Vibez. Vibez. Vibez. This cafe has got the perfect urban chill vibez. A great study spot though the parking can be a challenge. I came in right before noon on a Friday and it was bustling! Ordered myself an Okinawa Latte (black sesame latte) and I'd give it a 7/10. Not bad, but I wished the black sesame flavor was more stronger. The latte itself was pretty good hence the 7/10 but I think for it being a black sesame latte the flavor was lacking. Service was great, was greeted when I entered and all the baristas were super friendly!

Yelp
I'm a sucker for lattes and this place had such a unique selection! We tried the Okinawa latte and the Moshi Moshi latte which were both delicious and the perfect balance of coffee and sweetness. The flavors were perfectly crafted. I wish I lived closer to the area so I could come more often! The cafe itself it's nice and peaceful and is a great place to study or get work done as they have individual cubicles to sit.

Yelp
Having gone back to Kohiko multiple times since this first review, I can gladly give it 5 stars. My favorites are their Okinawa latte and their hojicha (which I shamelessly asked the barista which powder they use bc it was so good). Service is always super kind. Though it's on the pricier side, this is one of the few coffee shops where I think it's entirely worth it and would recommend for the drinks and service. It does get very busy at peak hours so I'd say finding a spot to sit and chat or do work can be hit or miss.

Yelp
I was so excited to go to this new coffee shop! On the weekend, the parking lot was completely full and we had to wait for someone to leave in order to park. There is also a neighborhood nearby that seems like you could park there as well. The ambiance and decor inside is beautiful! There are some latger tables but also a nice area of individual study spaces that is so cool to see in a coffee shop! I got the okinawa latte, and it was delicious!! The coffee flavor is delicious and strong. I do wish it had a little more of the blacks sesame taste but it was still a great, unique drink. I definitely want to come back to try the other different drinks!!

Yelp
Not sure if I just have a lot higher standards for coffees/matchas, but I personally thought that the drinks were very underwhelming. The flavored syrups in each of the drinks that I've tried do not come through strong enough, and I've been here twice already hoping that it would be better the next time. I think that they have good matcha quality, but for almost $9 a drink with flavored syrup/milk substitute, I would not recommend. The interior is very very nice, and I would definitely come to study or work here if the drinks were tastier. I think that they have potential to recipe test and improve their drinks.

Yelp
Cute shop. Interesting flavors. Got the flat white with black sesame. The black sesame is light and not over powering. The drink was nice great flavor from the espresso. Not too acidic. Smooth finish. No weird after taste. The line was crazy though. Should probably figure out that system. Staff was super nice. If I was in the area, I would go again for sure. But not drive more than 30 min.

Yelp
Parking is stupid. Luckily we got a space but there's literally very little parking. Anyway it's a small place so don't plan on meeting a big group of people bc seating is limited. Menu is limited too but we tried the banana latte (my favorite) , the one with the ice cream and the smoked hochicho (?) one. I don't remember their names. Anyway everything was good. Service was friendly.

Yelp
Food was great! My go to is their hojicoco. The ambiance is great for studying and they even have single seating facing the wall like a cubicle. The only caveat is their minimal parking outside. Most people end up getting to go because there's nowhere to park. The baristas provide great service and bring the coffee to you if you enjoy your drink in the shop instead of to go. Solid matcha and hojicha quality, very much worth the drive down to Sugar Land.

Yelp
I've been excited to try Kohima ever since I saw some of my favorite Houston foodie creators advertise it. It's a Japanese inspired coffee shop with a simple menu all with authentic Japanese flavors. Parking in the plaza is quite limited since there's a lot of reserved spots for other businesses. I came on a Saturday afternoon and there was still a long line out the door but it moves quickly. I love the variety of seating arrangements. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The inside has individual desks and a large table for self and group study, bar seating, and smaller tables for socializing. I ordered the Okinawa latte which has espresso, brown sugar, and black sesame. You also have the option to substitute whole milk and I went with oat milk. It was delicious and the brown sugar didn't overpower the latte with sweetness. The black sesame and the oat milk gave it a great nutty flavor that I like in my lattes. I'm definitely looking to come back especially to try out the matcha lattes. Overall, this is a great addition to the cafe scene in the Sugar Land area.

Yelp
Love the vibes here! Staff was friendly and super helpful. Apparently their two most popular drinks are the Moshi Moshi and the Okinawa latte. Since they were having a buy two get a waffle free deal this weekend I got them both! Like most reviews, I found the Moshi Moshi interesting and tasty, but preferred the Okinawa latte more. The Moshi Moshi is great for those who love banana flavor. I'm more of a sesame, nutty fan so the Okinawa was totally up my alley. I loveddd the waffle and hope this is a regular item they offer. I would get it every time! The natural lighting in this place makes for a really nice study spot! Just one thing to note is that they do close pretty early, especially on Thursdays! The first time I came here was on a Thursday, excitedly parked at 345, only to see they closed at 330. It was a happy accident though since the next day they were offering the free waffle deal with an order of two drinks!

Yelp
I feel like Kohiko deserves more stars than I am giving it, however, out of integrity, this coffee shop is a three star to me. I was so excited whenever Kohiko first opened for a number of reasons. For starters, the owners actually went to my high school, and although I was not super close with them, we have many mutuals and it is always nice to support a local business starter. Kohiko was also generating a lot of attention on social media, so it was very exciting that a Japanese style coffee shop was opening in my hometown. I can start with what I do love about this establishment. I love the interior spaces and how aesthetic it is for studiers or people who want to spend a day at a coffee shop doing work. I appreciate all the interior designing that went into creating the space as I can tell that a lot of thought was put in. I also really appreciate all the unique drinks that they offer. They offer ceremonial Matcha drinks and unique syrups like banana and sesame flavors. Now, the reason why I am giving Kohiko a three star is because of the quality of the drinks. Although in essence the drinks are uniquely designed to showcase a wide variety of Japanese flavors, I have found their drinks to be watery and bland. I have ordered a handful of specialty drinks from Kohiko by now, of which my favorite is the Moshi Moshi. However, I feel as if the banana flavor gets hidden in the drink and once I blend all the flavors together, I can hardly taste the banana. This is true for the sesame drink as well. This is a problem for me because I feel as if I paid over seven dollars for a specialty drink that was meant to showcase these unique flavors, however, I was not able to appreciate the flavors the more that I sipped on my drink. As I continued to sip each drink, I also realized that the ice would melt pretty quickly into the drink and left behind a watery drink. This just means that the espresso was not strong enough and that the flavors were not vibrant enough to overcome the melting ice. I hope that I was able to explain why I am giving Kohiko three stars, however, I believe that everyone should still give this place a try!!
