I grew up coming to Avalon. My family became customers in 1949 when their doors opened -- Kohler's was always a staple at our house. In most recent years, the product quality has definitely changed... and not for the better. We've ordered here recently and on more than one occasion, the donuts were raw inside; specifically the cinnamon twists. On top of that, they don't willingly package the donuts in the wax bags like they used to. Instead, they're using paper and the donuts often stick to the paper or clump together. They're not cheap donuts and they're smaller than they used to be. It's disappointing in a town that's undergone so much change and increased in pretentiousness, that a classic staple like Kohler's has diminished in quality.
I appreciate the reply of the business owner below, and I would never review a place that I haven't already (and my family) reached out to directly to remedy the above opportunities for improvement -- each time they have occurred. Like I said, customers since the doors opened. It's certainly not in my nature or intention to unnecessarily tarnish a reputation, but this platform is dedicated to honest reviews of businesses by consumers, to help other consumers make informed decisions, but also to help give constructive feedback to the business, after customer service in the past has not remedied. The intention of writing this review is to help the business understand what's been occurring and help to get back to being an icon that Avalon has known and loved for many decades.
