I got the bulgogi beef burrito ($8.50) around 3 pm on a Tuesday. Nice enough service but I was immediately skeptical when I saw the guys inside were not even Korean American. But I gave it a shot. Asked for medium spicy sauce and no cheese in my burrito.
They cut the burrito in half for me, and the cut was amazingly perfect and straight. The burrito was filled with seasoned rice, cucumber, salsa, mung bean sprouts, and the bulgogi. The tortilla was good quality. The beef was also very good quality beef, not a lot of tendon or fat. It was very flavorful but did not have a lot of the Korean flavor I'm used to. I have eaten a good deal of Korean food and my last roommate was an intern from Korea who once made a fantastic pork bulgogi at home. The meat in this burrito was seasoned very deliciously but I felt it could bring more authentic Korean flavor if they added more Korean pear, sesame oil, and other flavor you'd find in bulgogi purchased from a Korean market or restaurant. The veggies were fresh and crisp, but I was sad that were not pickled. That would have intensified the flavor and also brought more Korean flavor. If they had marinated the veggies in Korean red pepper flakes, sesame oil, vinegar or lemon, sugar, and garlic, that would have made this burrito phenomenal. Salsa inside was also underwhelming.
The burrito was not bad. It was very large for the price, freshly made, and good quality beef, but it lacks the spice and flavor typical to Korean food. If they added some of that sesame oil, garlic, Korean red pepper, etc, they would get a higher rating in my book.
