They are the best location for a birthday 🥳 or special occasion. they were so understanding yesterday of the size of the group and tried to accommodate as much for us (we called weeks in advance and were super flexible), the food was incredible, everybody loved it. The vibes are right. Would recommend! Katherine helped a lot to make this possible , I can’t remember the name of the server but it was a tall male (10/12/24 7:30 pm) amazingly good service overall. Northern lights sushi was a delight. A friend ordered the lambs and fell in love with it and the pure. The vegan friends in the group also enjoyed tons with the tofu/sushi. And of course we tried the skirt steak 111/10 😻 . Appreciate it tons.

The salmon and yellow tail sashimi were sensational. The tuna sushi wasn’t fresh. The dragon rolls were good. The overall atmosphere was loud and energetic. The service was a mixed bag of good at times but very slow for most of our time there.

High end is no joke here. The staff was amazingly attentive and also very careful about any potential food allergies. Our table started wobbling and before we could look for someone to help, someone was already there fixing it (and fixed it quickly and well). The food was very good. The creamy shrimp tempura was not at all what I’m used to for shrimp tempura (no crunchy exterior), but it was delicious (and contrary to the supposedly spicy sauce, fortunately not spicy at all). This was a very nice experience and I wish I had been hungrier as there are many intriguing items on the menu. I look forward to trying them another time.

One of the best places that I ever been!! The food is amazing, like a boom in your mouth with each meal and the service was one of the best thing of the night and the music too, another thing that I really loved about was the dessert my fav part!! I really enjoy this place and I’m looking forward to go soon✨

It’s 5 minutes walk from Times Square. Food is just okay. The fact that they don’t have Calamari was a huge disappointment as that’s my default appetizer. Specialty rolls are also just okay. Service is good and ambience is great.

Great atmosphere and calm vibe. Food and service were great. Our server was very knowledgeable about how we should approach our dishes and the best order to eat them in. Would recommend this location for a special occasion or celebration.

Koi Sushi New York is a gem located right next to Bryant Park. We made our reservation through Google Maps, and the entire experience was exceptional. The food was absolutely amazing, and the staff went above and beyond to help us select the best items from the menu. They truly did a great job, and the sushi was incredibly delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with dim lighting that adds to the charm. If you’re a sushi lover, Koi Sushi is a must-visit!

Tried crispy ride for the first time and I was a bit underwhelmed. Maybe the rice to fish ratio was off but I thought the fried crispy rice would be more flavorful than literal deep fried block of sushi rice. Lychee martini was good though.

Stopped in here for a spontaneous dinner on a Thursday night. It wasn't busy and we got seated right away in the top sushi area where we had a nice over view of the restaurant. We ordered: Black miso cod - expected the skin to be crispy but it wasn't, however flavor was great Scallops - we expected them to be seared/crispy on top more but they were more on the raw side Asparagus / mushrooms - good if you just want some veggies Shrimp tempura handroll - the BEST of all, we ordered another one Overall, lively ambiance for post work dinner.

Came here for a business dinner. Food and drinks were great. I will say that the acoustics in the restaurant are rough. We had a party of 6 and our end caps could not hear each other because it was so so LOUD! But the service was lovely, and the food was great. I will definitely not come back with a larger group, maybe 2-3 people max.

While visiting NYC, we stopped here after going to the US Open. It was close to my in-laws hotel so it was perfect. When we entered, it was a little jarring to go into a NYC restaurant that was empty. We were the only table of people there and it was during your typical dinner time, around 7pm. It took a bit for a waiter to come to our table, which we found odd since we were the only table there. Once the waiter came, we put in cocktails and several dishes for the table to split. One of my favorite things we ordered was the seaweed salad. We also split a handful of the shareable plates, a couple of entrees and for dessert, the mochi ice cream. Of the shareables, i think the sushi tacos were the table favorites. Overall we had a nice experience and despite the quietness of the restaurant, we were pleased with our food overall.

Best Sushi spot in all of midtown. We've been hosting our corporate lunches here for the past few years and the food and service is always Top Notch! Drinks are strong and they often add some variety to the menu which I love but my fave is always the crispy rice! Kudos to management for the consistency and elevated service!

Had takeout, pretty solid dragon roll, covered with crunchy and shredded tempora flakes. The miso cod was good, you didn't need the extra sauce as it was plenty salty, though had a few bones in mine so be careful when eating.

Craved sushi late night and came across Koi. They opened until 11:00 pm on a weeknight. It was a short walk from our hotel. Not busy at all so we were able to walk right on in. A little strange was asked if we had reservations, took my phone number and email down then seated after. Service was quick. Waiter greeted us immediately and took our drink order. Honestly, many of the servers were watching us eat like a hawk (a little creepy). Food came out quick and taste absolutely amazing! Fish was fresh. Love that in sushi! Price however is on the high side. However that's as expected when in Manhattan. Because of the odd gaze while eating I gave 4/5 stars.

These restaurant is hard to see from the street. It's inside the Bryant Park Hotel. And Also there is Scaffolding covering it. We had a reservation and were seated immediately. Service was amazing. Good was excellent! I couldn't get enough of the spicy tuna crunch! It's a hit! We had the seared Tuna, the pot stickers, lobster tacos, and a side order of the Ginger rice! Everything was delicious! Drink was good. I had the Pear-adise martini! Will most definitely be back.

I stopped here with my cousins yesterday for dinner. The customer service was super fast getting us seated and taking our order. Drinks and food arrived quickly and it was delicious and fresh. The ambiance of the restaurant is very foreign like with bamboo trees. Our waiter was extremely kind and answered all of our questions and recommended the top sushi rolls. Overall a great spot to try if you are in the mood for some sushi.

Phenomenal food and service. I recommend the salmon carpaccio, truffle avocado and spicy tuna crispy rice, and the lamp chops. The bathrooms in this restaurant are located down a large flight of stairs.

This entire staff is impeccable. Everyone is professional, friendly and attentive. You can really tell that they care about not only their work but also each other. The manager Freddy is also incredibly gracious. The young woman (Yaya) at the door made us feel welcoming, shared a laugh and helped us to our seats promptly. Make sure to make a reservation and enjoy a carefully crafted cocktail. This review is long overdo. I have been here about 5 times and each time I have had nothing positive things to say. The food is exactly what you'd want it to be only it was more delicious. I have been to many places that have similar menus and I continue to return to Koi because their food is hand down better. The waitstaff is happy to help you with recommendations and they are always on point. The ambiance is also really neat. The four elements are visually woven into the interior design. I am a sucker for aesthetics and design so I thoroughly enjoy this aspect of my visits. See if you can spot them! Overall, a great place to have lunch or dinner in the heart of midtown without compromising on quality. Across the street is a cute park where you can sometimes find little shop tents set up. Worth a visit.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The service was always good and the atmosphere was lively and enjoyable. There was never an empty table and it was difficult to find a reservation. At my most recent visit, though the service was still impeccable, the vibe and the food have definitely changed. We went on a Friday night and the restaurant was almost completely empty which is something I would have never imagined before. The food was decent, but it was not as memorable as it has been in the past. One dish that was absolutely delicious was the edamame dumplings with the sake butter. We placed 4 orders of the dumplings because they were amazing and everyone at the table loved them. I would recommend this place and if that Friday night was indicative of the new normal for Koi, it shouldn't be too hard to get a table there either.

If you allow me to I'd eat sushi 8 days a week so I had pretty high expectations for this place. This was a business meeting so we had a tight time limit. It wasn't busy so we were approached right away. I ordered 2 sushi rolls and asked for one to be made spicy. Not really complicated. It came to the table not spicy but exactly how it's listed on the menu. Clearly I'm annoyed but I'm in a business meeting so no complaining or sending it back. He brought me more spicy mayonnaise on the side idk to dip my mayo covered roll into more mayo. GROSS The sushi was okay but not worth the price. You're paying for location and ambiance. Go else where.

Overall I was not pleased with my experience at Koi. Personally, I didn't enjoy the food that I ordered (partly I was upset because it wasn't clear on the menu the scallops were raw instead of cooked) and the edamame dumplings flavors were not my taste. The service overall was alright and the ambiance was overall good but I don't think I'll be coming back.

It was just ok. Way overpriced for the quality of sushi. My friend and I walked in after a work event. We ordered crispy rice, a few rolls and sorbet. Friday rice was standard, but I didn't particularly enjoy the sushi. Nice ambiance. No complaints about the waiter.

Great meal of shareable appetizers, entrees n desserts even!!! Great selection for every eater. Enjoy the hipster environment.

Great experience From entering the venue to decor and friendly greeting . Victoria was the greeter I believe. I asked to be Sat at the counter. Julius was server and gave great recommendations with the omakase, glazed roasted shishito peppers. Glass of red wine and finished with red snapper sashimi. Manager checked in to see how food was and chef was friendly as well.

I was here for dinner last night since it was raining and Koi just a half block away. They have locations in other cities and I was excited to try this one. The decor is nice, but there is some construction outside so ignore that view outside the main windows. The apps and entrees came out super fast and were above average. The sticky rice tuna was my favorite. The seared tuna which came smothered with fried onions (the type you get in the supermarket) was my least favorite. The desserts were decent, I had the lava cake and got to try the bread pudding. For some reason, there was a super long wait for the dessert and the check.

Beautiful restaurant, amazing service, and delicious food. The Salmon carpaccio with truffle ponzu sauce is my absolutely fave, and they have the best crispy rice in the city by far. Great for romantic date night or groups. Plenty of space and great ambiance.

Had a lovely time at the Koi Restaurant! Of the many dishes ordered, the two images I took were of the lobster salad and the sundae smash -both were delicious as well as the other dishes. I'd definitely recommend!

We dined at Koi Restaurant while staying at Bryant Park Hotel. On a tight schedule, we were able to pop into Koi for a very early dinner (like, as soon as their doors opened). We started off with dirty martinis in the lounge area before making way over to our table. Dinner started with roasted shishito peppers, salmon carpaccio black truffles (highly rec); and I opted for the edamame dumplings appetizer as my main, while my partner had the miso bronzed black cod for his main. And we rounded out dinner with espresso. We were super pleased with our selections - thanks to Yelp and the help of our server. I do regret not ordering the crispy rice with spicy tuna as seen all over their Yelp page.

Came here for a work dinner with a big group. First they sat us at probably one of the worst tables right in front by the windows. I get it we were a large group but not a great start. We had the fixed menu and it was hit or miss. The tuna tartare on crispy rice chip was very good and the cod was delicious but sushi rolls and steak were not good at all. The sushi rolls in particular were almost laughable especially the presentation, like they were made by an amateur, not the caliber I would expect for this kind of restaurant. Overall it was fine but don't expect to be back.

I have come here several times throughout my 10 years in NYC and each time it has been excellent. I used to work a block away from 2013-2016, I came here last year in 2021, and this weekend before the theater. I'm very impressed at how they have been able to be so consistent - something that is rare in NYC restaurants. The atmosphere - will impress almost anyone you bring here. The service - always attentive and plenty of people to help out. Our waiter this weekend was kind and patient with my new eating restrictions. They even had a totally separate menu for gluten-free diners! The food - I've never had anything here I didn't like. I've been here on a corporate tab a few times where we ordered everything on the menu. The sushi is over-the-top fancy, but it has the flavor and freshness to back it up. I used to LOVE the miso black cod, but sadly I can no longer eat soy. Overall, this is one of the rare gems in Midtown that has stood the test of time. Definitely recommend.

Conveniently located sushi spot with good vibes. Went as a group of 4 and snagged a last min reservation for 8:15pm on a Tuesday - who knew it would be so popular on a weeknight! Upon entering, there is music blasting, lights are dimmed, interesting ceiling decorations hanging down. Lots of people sitting and standing around, drinking and laughing. My friend framed it as "what Buddakan in Penn aspires to be". We didn't get seated until 8:30pm since the place was bustling, and ended up sitting by the front entrance area - the elevated section was in too high demand! The section we ended up in was surprisingly less noisy than I expected given we were near the entrance and the servers were very attentive. In terms of food, my friend (who's been here numerous times) suggested the tuna with crunchy rice and sashimi tacos (2 salmon, 2 tuna) as appetizers, and we also got some mixed tempura. For entrees, I was surprised that the primary options were non-sushi related. We ended up ignoring these and got 1 of each of the specialty rolls to share. Warning - this is WAY too much food for 4 people and we were stuffed to the brim by the end of it. Appetizers were pretty good. Tuna with crunchy rice was good - tuna was so finely chopped it felt puréed, which was a bit strange. Crunchy rice was well done though! Sashimi tacos were also pretty good, but with the all the sauce, I could barely taste the salmon in the taco I ate. Tempura dough wasn't as crispy and thin as I'd like. I had a fish tempura which reminded me of fish and chips except the it was pretty fishy and a bit over cooked for my liking. In terms of sushi, my favorite was the baked crab roll. Other top favorites was the roll with truffle sauce and the roll with spicy tuna inside and tuna on top. Truffle flavoring is STRONG and so so good with the sushi. I've never tried the combination before and am now a promoter. Would recommend just getting these three rolls if you were to come. The deep fried crab roll was my favourite as it had a thin layer of crunchy batter, everything was warm and flavors mixed well. Others said the roll was a bit too heavy for their liking (understandable since we ordered far too much food for 4 people). It also came with a side of seaweed salad, which broke up the heaviness of the pieces and was a bit of a palate cleanser. The other rolls were more of a disappointment - the fish quality wasn't very good and they didn't play around with the sauce flavors or anything else to compliment the flavors.

Had some dinner at this sushi spot with my friends. Our waitresses were super kind and seated us. The interior definitely sets the mood. We ordered salmon roll, california roll, a grilled salmon, and a sushi taco. more on the pricier side but the food was good! Used my camera to take these photos!!

I expected something totally different from KOI. The service was very nice, don't get me wrong. But the food is just unacceptable. The dishes were extremely overpriced. I ordered sushi omakase, and the materials were nowhere near fresh (dry and pale fish), and were very cheap. The sushi and the hand roll were also poorly made and taste terrible. The cocktail was unsatisfactory as well with foam and carelessly garnished. The environment was okay. I don't usually write reviews, but I am indeed disappointed by the place.

Two out of the three had bad food poisoning , t was obviously after the sushi after only two of us had shared. Sent them An email And the immediately responded but after two weeks they of course did not admit fault and only refunded the food portion of the entire bill . $180 out of $440 . Disappointed by the response considering two of us missed a day of work and took another day to fully recover . When after 20 Mins of eating you are Vomiting and sever diarrhea you know I am never going to frequent this place again !

Really enjoyed our holiday dinner at Koi. It's one of those places that's best to go with a corporate credit card as it's not "value". Ambiance is amazing, service and food too! Highly recommend!

We ordered take out from this restaurant, which is inside the Bryant Park Hotel. The three rolls we ordered were terrible. I've had better sushi at Whole Foods. The place was empty when we picked up the food, which is telling. Shockingly disappointing.

It's a no for me. The restaurant was deserted on a Tuesday night and this was the only sushi spot in the area that could take a walk up for 2 and now we know why. The ambiance is nice, the service is very friendly, but the food is not good. Everything was pretty average but the salmon carpaccio was probably our favorite. We also got the tuna and the yellowtail crispy rice to start and the tuna was pulverized to a paste. A textural nightmare to me. The sushi rice was also overcooked which is crazy because I've only ever had overcooked sushi rice from maybe a grocery store but certainly not a sushi restaurant in midtown Manhattan.

Managed to get a table on a Saturday night which was great. Loved the vibes of the place. Everything we had was so delicious! A little expensive but it's sushi in nyc so expected.

Delicious food, warm & friendly service, GORGEOUS interior design! They have some very interesting areas to explore and it's at least 3 stories. I had the dragon roll which was had fine crunch and was filling. I wish the eel sauce was sweeter but I still enjoyed it. I also had that appetizer with the peppers which was great!

This place is tucked into the side of the Bryant Park Hotel. Signage to find it wasn't so great due to construction scaffolding. It had a very pleasant atmosphere and was cozy. It's like a split-level restaurant. It is a great place to have a good, intimate conversation without being overwhelmed by restaurant noise. We sat in a booth for a business dinner. Service was incredibly friendly and prompt. The sushi quality was very good. We had a custom platter made with otoro, yellowtail, salmon, octopus, wasabi tobiko and a couple of sashimi choices that included eel. Two house rolls were also added. Very well presented in a long boat-ish dish. I was quite disappointed that they were out of uni, ikura, and quail eggs. Those are my pieces of choice to judge the quality of a sushi restaurant. Very surprising they didn't have any of these available. The sake was served in a carafe with built-in ice. My favorite serving piece for sake. The daiygingo we had was nice, but more full bodied than most that I have had. We followed it up with a nigori that was in between dry and sweet- for a nigori; it was very well balanced. They also mixed the nigori thoroughly before serving. It had to be consumed quickly because you can't shake the carafe, if needed. Great place for a business dinner or an intimate occasion. Service was excellent. Remember to tip well.

Solid Japanese style restaurant! Very lively and rowdy ambience around 1pm on a weekday. Flavors were great, but I felt that some cuts of fish were not as tender or as fresh as I would've liked to see. Starters: - Salmon Carpaccio: 10/10, truffle flavor hits as soon as the dish is set down. Thin sliced salmon with ponzu and truffle marinade. - Seared Tuna: 6/10, the jalapeños were a strange flavor pairing and I felt like the tuna was too tough - Green Salad: 8/10, great miso ponzu dressing that is not your typical liquid dressing (it's more like a blended carrot), taking off points because it was hard to get the dressing to fully cover the salad Mains: - Black Miso Cod: 10/10, very well-marinated and soft and buttery - Selection of sushi: 9/10, hard to go wrong with sushi but wasn't as fresh or soft as I expected. Tamago was fine though. - Dragon Roll: 7/10, felt too Americanized and fusion-esque. A bit too much going on for my liking. Service was great.

Food is almost below average Signature dish fried rice sushi is not as good as supermarket sushi,fried rice is no crispy and the inside is lukewarm and half cooked and over cooked which feels very weird Sashimi is a joke. Food was good, went here for a birthday dinner. But our waiter rushed us through all courses of our meal when the place was practically empty, very strange and didn't feel welcome. Sushi was good but extremely over priced.

In town for meetings near Bryant park so this place was conveniently located. Had a large table so know big group dining might impact quality so take that into account. Was highly recommended but I found the sushi to be just ok. Tables had a variety of "greatest hits" so sampled quite a bit. Food was very salty to me in general. Service was excellent, vibe was cool but just an ok dinner for me.

Visited Koi with a few colleagues for a business lunch we were happy with. Typical NYC nightlife ambiance from the moment you enter the Bryant Park Hotel. I came in expecting a Nobu-esque experience albeit slightly sobered down for the midtown corporate crowd. Appetizers: We ordered the shishito peppers - hard to mess this one up. The soy glaze had a bit more of a zing than most other places. Koi crispy rice was the standout. From Blue Ribbon to Momoya, you can find variants of this dish that fail to match up to Koi's take. We ordered the tuna and yellowtail - I enjoyed both with a slight preference for the tuna since it had the jalapeno kick. We also tried the potstickers, which were good but nothing to write home about. Sushi rolls: The Double Tuna roll is a must-do for lovers of this fatty fish. I expected tuna sashimi on spicy tuna to be excessive, but the chef does a great job of ensuring that you get more tuna without overpowering the wasabi and rice. The combination of snow crab and black truffle on the Northern Lights roll was an unusual yet delectable treat to my taste buds. We also ordered an array of classic American sushi rolls - spicy tuna, shrimp tempura etc. Entrees: Miso cod by far the best dish here. Matches up to Nobu's; slightly less sweet but that's a pro in my book. Overall, Koi is a good stop for sushi in midtown. Would not be my first choice pan Manhattan but worth stopping by for the crispy rice and miso cod.

4.5 stars We were debating between here and Olive Garden, but Koi doesn't have a branch in Dubuque. Wise choice! The salmon carpaccio was amazing as was the hamachi something-or-other. The black cod was also excellent. Peppers are good, but best shared if in a large group as you won't want to eat more than 3 or 4. Crowded and very loud, but friendly staff who secured our table. The pineapple juice is exquisite. My friend said the Sapporo was cold. They didn't have KitKat on the dessert menu, so we went to CVS for dessert. Pro-tip: if they take away your chopsticks just grab one from an empty table.

The restaurant has great ambiance, but not a lot of food choices. The scallop sushi and uni sushi were extremely delicious. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was good but a bit oily because of the fried crispy rice. I had the Eternal Snow cocktail. It was very light and the flavor of the apple cider was too strong.

Tasty sushi. The hand rolled tempura shrimp roll is my favorite. Desserts were just ok or I would have given 5 stars.

A relatively high price point for an upscale Japanese restaurant. I am hesitant to say that the food was worth the high prices as I have had similar or better sushi for lower prices. However, the ambiance and decorations at Koi was quite nice, with good service. Pictured below is the salmon carpaccio, which was the best dish in my opinion. The thin cut sashimi was covered in a light citrus flavoured sauce with a memorable truffle flavor. If I were to go back, it would be for this dish. The other photo is of the spicy tuna crispy rice, which was also delightful. Nothing extraordinary about the dish (what I expected when I ordered it) but tasty nonetheless. We also ordered all of the specialty rolls which were pretty much all good options. The one dish where I felt the flavours did not align perfectly was the sweet chilli shrimp roll. I would be happy to go back to Koi if someone else covered the tab. However, I am unsure if I would spend my own money again here.

Several visits here, and never disappointed... Think of Koi as hip-buzzy, good (but not super-high-end) sushi. Hip vibe, terrific menu, and appropriately attentive, hip service. Try the tuna on crisp rice. Pricey to be sure. Probably can get equally good suhsi at some smaller places without the black-clad crowd; probably can get better sushi for an equivalent price point at a super-high-end more formal place. But this is a fun experience. Only disappointment was the ~10 minute (seriously) wait at the lobby bar...that wait took place when there was nobody in front of us...five minutes of waiting before that. High class problem for a restaurant that it is super busy...and I suppose dealing with Covid-related short-staffing. Worth the trip.

The food was tasty, but not out of this world. The service was okay: food came fast, but my friend was served a dish with sesame seeds, even though she stated she was allergic. However, they were able to replace it and it worked out.

Great location near Bryant Park. The staff was great ... the food was average ... the prices were high. I've been to the Koi on La Cienega in NYC before, which I also found to be a bit overrated but it is a 'scene' spot (or was) at one point being the 'go to' spot for a lot of dealmakers and power brokers, even being prominently featured in the show Entourage in the early 2000's. The restaurant feels sort of cavernous and corporate ... there is a wall with some pretty striking modern artwork, but the vibe is industrial-generic. In LA, it has a Japanese feel/vibe ... beyond the liberal use of the colour red in the Bryant Park outpost, I didn't get the Japanese vibe. If burgers and fries were brought to the table, I wouldn't be shocked as the decor was fairly generic. The food here is average and expensive. Where in Manhattan is not expensive? But from a value standpoint, I feel like there are dozens of similar restaurants you could go to and get a better value. I didn't find the sushi to be fresher or more innovative than other spots in (or out) of the city. The 'go to' is the crispy rice salmon rolls, which are good ... but not earthshattering. The staff was very attentive but not overly pushy ... and we were able to have a successful business meeting here with minimal interruption. The tables aren't exactly far apart but you aren't sitting right on top of someone either. The bathrooms downstairs were a bit odd ... very darkly lit and felt like a nightclub. Overall, I'd say that the place (from the decor, to the food, to the vibe) felt stuck in the early to mid-2000's. The colour scheme, menu (blistered shishito peppers, rock shrimp, hand rolls, etc.) and layout felt like a 'hot spot' in 2004 where Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan would frequent. Now that it's 2021, I'd probably head somewhere a bit more classy in the future.

Our server was great and the ambience was comfortable and warm. The food was ok, but not worth the price paid. The rating, though? It was the constant barrage of staff at the table. The restaurant wasn't very full, and perhaps the staff was bored, but 4 or more staff were constantly at the table, picking up one small item each time. Every time, their arms were in front of my face. They had no idea or concept of personal space, letting guests enjoy the meal and conversation, or just letting an item sit on the table so as not to disturb diners. I opened my chopsticks and they stood next to me until I was done so they could remove the wrapper. It was extremely intrusive, and for a $500 meal, very inappropriate. Besides that meal being way too pricy for minimal food, it is doubled down on the constant bombardment of 4+ more people practically dining with us. They were at our table enough, they should have split the bill with us!
