Soo, this is an unconventional review, because I was mentioning to someone how much I was craving some god jollof rice and they recommended this place and another… and imagine my surprise when they were at the Hst festival! I hopped in line, waited (amongst a crowd) for about 10-15 mins… they did have a fluid operation going for an outdoor event, so I can only imagine what a dine in experience is like! Very impressive. But, can’t compare prices because it was an event… but the 2 items I got were definitely pricey and flavorful! And probably enough for 2 people to have some sides if you chose a meat entree (which I didn’t), just the 2 sides (which would classify as vegetarian, Macn cheese and the jollof ( possibly vegan, not sure if the rice was boiled in a broth?) The Jollof: The rice was very different, can’t explain the grain used, it’s very small, reminiscent of a tiny couscous… I’m told they use something similar in Hati, but with the other flavors and veggies with the grilled onions on top, it was just right. But I was informed the Senegalese do jollof different. So yes on the very different, but equally yes on the flavor, though different also, it was hints that are familiar while taking their own spin on it. Will be on the lookout for them if I’m ever close to that side of Maryland.

Koite Grill is a delicious and authentic Senegalese restaurant located in Silver Spring, Maryland. I recently went with my dining companion who happens to be Senegalese. We originally made a reservation, but it became clear when we arrived that this reservation had not been communicated to the 3 youths working the restaurant. However, after my companion spoke to them in Wollof, they quickly found us a table. The food is excellent! Tastes just like Senegal. Granted, whether you are dining in or getting takeout, they serve all the food in plastic to-go containers, it was all delicious. I had Senegal’s most famous dish, Thieboudienne, and it tasted just like I remembered it tasting in Senegal. My companion had the poulet (or chicken) yassa – which he stated “tasted just like home.” Do not come for the service or the atmosphere, but come for the absolutely authentically delicious Senegalese cuisine!

I was so excited to stumble upon a Senegalese food truck at the RFK Market this summer in NE DC! 😍 It instantly took me back to my trip to Senegal—where I fell in love with lamb dibi, poulet yassa, and the amazing ginger and bissap (hibiscus) drinks. The food was quick, healthy, and soooo flavorful. And with Senegalese music playing in the background, the vibe was perfect and the owners were easy on eyes- tall, dark, and very handsome! Treat yourself to an authentic taste of Senegal in DC- you’ll thank me later! 🇸🇳✨

The food is amazing. However be wary of the length of the wait. I’ve been to this place three times now & every time it’s been a +20 minute wait. Today I was waiting on the basic lamb platter & French fries for 35 minutes, & watched a bunch people that ordered after me served first. I think the only reason they even remembered my food is cause I was starting to giving them a look & was about to say something. They may want to consider a better service system.

Google
Have I ever tried Senegalese food before? No. Will I have it again? Only if it tastes like Koité. Lamb Dibi with Jollof rice. So much flavor packed into this delicious dish. And the spicy Dijon sauce was amazing. I took a couple tastes and immediately googled what was in it. So so good! Perfectly blended with the meat flavors. Service was friendly, polite, and helpful. There's a family atmosphere in the restaurant, and it was very comfortable. Sadly, I live over an hour away, but if I'm in Silver Springs or anywhere close, I'll be back.

Google
It started off as a crave for African food on Uber eats. Then after 4 orders I said I got to come in person. The grilled goat and lamb with the onions are tender and juicy. Both hollow options are good but I prefer the red( tomato stew based). Customer service is on point, from placing order to being seated. Besides Ghana jollof being the best, senegalese got a place in my heart 😍

No frills family owned spot in Downtown Silver Spring. Food was delicious! And portions are generous too. Customer service was awesome and I really enjoyed the Chicken Dibi and the Pastels! Will definitely be a go to if I'm in the area

Google
Both the food and service were great. The only drawback is how pricey some of the items were, so it’s a bit of a splurge to eat here. Definitely recommend the chicken dibi with brown jollof rice. Also try some of their habanero sauce if you love heat.

Yelp
This is my first time trying Senegalese food and I am SO IMPRESSED. Every portion was huge and so fairly priced. All this food was only $71. Service was friendly when I picked it up and it was ready promptly. The fataya was savory and crispy with lots of beef filling. The sauce definitely packed a bunch, but added spice and texture. The plantains were EXACTLY how I like them-- perfectly tender without getting mushy. They had a delicious glaze and weren't too oily. The Yassa Poulet was probably my favorite dish, which I paired with the white rice and a squeeze of lemon. The savory, creamy sauce with onions added a succulence to the chicken and had a balance of salty, acidic, and spicy. The Thiebou-Dienne was also delicious paired with the jollof rice and lemon. The carrots, yam, and cabbage were all perfectly tender and had soaked up the flavors of the sauce. The fish did have bones in it, but they were big enough to be easily spotted. The fish was juicy and I liked making little tacos with the cabbage and rice. Not pictured but the thiakry with millet has such a great texture, although it was a little sweet for me. My friend was obsessed with it though. I think adding a squeeze of lime would cut the sweetness back for me and make it perfect. I will definitely be back to try more of the dishes in the future!

Yelp
I've passed by Koitae Grill many times and have always wanted to try it-finally, I did, and it did not disappoint! Just as the reviews promised, the food was fantastic. Here's what we tried: * Fataya Pastel (Fish Pastry): Crispy on the outside, but the fish filling wasn't much. * Che-bu-yap with Lamb: The sauce was rich and has a sweetness to it! * Lamb Dibi: Tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. * Jollof Rice: Tasty and well-spiced, pairing perfectly with the flavorful sauces. Everything was cooked to perfection, especially the meats, which were wonderfully tender.

Yelp
Feel free to correct me Yelp but there does not seem to be as much advertisement in the media given to West African restaurants as East African eateries in the DMV area. Not trying to start the whole east/west coast beef again but just my opinion it seems like a big focus on African cuisine seems to be focused just on Eritrean/Ethiopian cuisine here and I put money that you can name more of them. On this day after taking in some cinema in the Silver Springs area we decided to try out Koite Grill that was a short walk from the theatre and near the Silver Springs metro stop. Like many places it is a small place that you can walk past if not paying attention. There are a few seat on the outside if you would like to take in the views. Supposedly they also have a food truck from reading the reviews and this food truck has goat which they did not have in the brick and mortar this particular day. I think some of the places like this might have only one person cooking in the back. It seems like the food was coming out slow but in all actuality it looked like the food was held up by the staff at the front. When we came in plenty of people were waiting for food either to eat there or taking it to go. All the food came out at about the same time which tells me that their food was sitting there. Fortunately or food came out in a decent time and came out hot. Even if you are eating there the food is wrapped up as if you ordered it to go but they will bring you plates. To start off we went with the beef pastels as an appetizer. It's a bit of a cross between a beef patty and sambusa that comes with a sauce. They come in threes in case you are dining alone and worried about having too much. Warning that they come out hot. You can get it stuffed with fish also and they were nothing but tasty. For the main entrée I went with the che-bu-yap also known as thieboudienne. Once again I went with the beef option and good thing there is someone that actually knows how to cook beef to leave it tender and not dried out from overcooking. The beef comes on top of jollof rice that I wish had a bit more oomph in it. When I say that I personally would like more onions, spices, tomatoes, and perhaps some chilis in it. Hey everyone has their own spin of the popular jollof rice but overall it was not disappointing. This entrée is something I would definitely order again as I saw some others in the place had ordered this same dish.

Yelp
Well done Koite Grill. I feel like I got a home cooked meal. Chicken Yassa: very good! Chicken was tender, sauce/gravy was flavorful...My husband said the onions in the Chicken Yassa took him on a journey. Jollof: this was my first time having Senegalese jollof. So different. The smallest rice grains I've ever seen. Came with a couple of slices of green and red peppers, onions, carrots, peas, and corn... And when I say a couple, I mean 2-3 of each vegetable I listed in the whole container. No complaints from me at all. Dibi Chicken: Chicken grilled well! Just not as deeply seasoned as I expected.. and I don't mean salt... But the grilled taste of chicken can really make up for the flavor. Mac and cheese: not bad at all.... It's like when you go to a cookout and you're praying it's any good... It looks promising. You taste it and you're like "ok it's not my mom's but I see what they did!". Would I get it again? Maybe. Would I recommend people try it. Yea, doesn't hurt. They don't use macaroni. I think they use rotini but I can't remember. Beef Suya: good flavor, kinda tender, more of a wet seasoning than the Nigerian way. Hibiscus Mint juice: very tasty and sweet! Would get again... Only a hint of Mint. Took about 30 min to get food after ordering.

Yelp
Delicious! We had beignets, and fish special with jollof rice. And got both the hibiscus juice and baobab juice. The service was friendly and fast. The food was fresh and so good.

Yelp
10/10! A+++++++ Listen, I need a food tour of the continent! I stumbled across this food truck because Marlboro Pike is the unofficial spot for food trucks in this area (District Heights/Forestville, PG County). When I saw that it was Senegalese food I got more excited-- I've never had it! The sign on the truck said they had award-winning jollof. Not sure what award, but I was convinced. You know I had to do my research, asking others in line for recommendations and wait time. I told them I'd come back another time because the reported 20-minute wait wasn't in my plans. The guy working the window gave me a sample, I think to ensure I came back later. *mind blown* I placed an online order for pick up later. One small plate and an extra side was $30. I prefer to eat $30 meals at a sit down restaurant, but I was pleasantly happy that I could experience this here vs. a trip to Silver Spring where they have a brick and mortar. This was great because the food tasted fresh and not laden with sprinkled on spices. Their onions didn't looked grilled, but they are delicious (I ordered extra) and this is coming from a semi-onion hater. The food truck didn't have my desired veggie side so I opted for drinks. The pineapple ginger is kick throat and tasty. The hibiscus drink is rich and the sweet that my taste buds needed. I let my son taste my food and he started closing his eyes and humming before getting a good bite in. He started asking a bunch of questions: where is this? When are they there? etc. I'd say he gives it his stamp of approval, lol. I definitely recommend this truck and to order online, though have a plan B as they might be out of something without you knowing.

Yelp
I'll keep this short, their food is amazing! Since first trying this delicious meat, I've tried their Silver Spring, College Park, and District Height locations. While each is different, they all are delicious. Silver Spring: They have the most extensive menu. It's in downtown Silver Spring, so parking can be challenging. They also have limited seating. College Park: They have a limited menu that focuses on their Dibi meat. Parking is easy, and the service is friendly District Heights: They are open Wednesday - Sunday. They have some additional grilled items available. Also, their prices are slightly cheaper. I love the Duo with lamb and goat. Their jollof rice has been my side of choice. I also love their ginger juice. Foodie Tip: Go, now!

Yelp
very poor custimer service. I ordered few portions of grilled lamb and chicken and the lamb was like log of wood. I live all the way to VA and couldn't drive back another hour and asked for a partial compensation for my next order they just didn't bother honouring my request. not only the quality of the food was bad but the manager herself wasn't helpful at all. don't even expect me to come to your restaurant anymore cuz you've lost a customr!

Yelp
I was planning to visit Koite Grill in Silver Spring this weekend, but saw on ig that their food truck was near me in Forestville! I ordered online and it gave me a pick up time with the order confirmation. When I arrived they had a speaker with music playing, and someone was cooking on 2 big grills. I had to wait a few minutes for my order, but the music set a nice atmosphere, so I didn't mind. I ordered the grilled chicken with jollof and it was DELICIOUS! I honestly ate half of it right it my car. I ordered the large and it was enough for about 3 servings. I'll definitely be back to try the BBQ chicken next time.

Yelp
Went to the food truck location in Forestville MD, on 10/16/24. Got the Dibi chicken with steak and my oh my!!!!! The food was amazing. The steak and chicken was seasoned to the gods and the jollof rice was also a hit the Mac and cheese was good as well but them onions they give you with your meal hmmmmmm chef kiss. Customer service was great and they even let me sample the meats before I brought my meal.

Yelp
For lunch, a friend took me to Koite Grill after I expressed curiosity in Senegalese cuisine. We arrived on Saturday at 12 right when they opened, put in our orders at the counter, and sat ourselves. Food arrived quickly, after 10 minutes. Everything arrived in to-go containers, piping hot; I also received a normal plate for dine-in. The meat patties ($8, 2 patties), ostensibly resembled large empanadas. The filling proved much more flavorful and juicy, with simmered tomato flavors emanating from the ground beef. The accompanying tomato-based sauce accentuated this even more. The Dibi Chicken ($22) proved a study of simplicity in grilling. Juicy chicken, some dry rub, grilled to a char - what you want and nothing more. The grilled onions fared similarly - enough oil and salted for grilling to perfection. The Dibi also came with a side of jollof. The portion size for this and the chicken proved quite generous.

Yelp
Delicious and filling. Came with jollof rice and a spicy sauce that hit the spot. I recommend for a flavorful meal

Yelp
Love authentic Senegalese or African grill ? You definitely meed to visit this place. Amazing food. All the meat are grilled, well spiced and so tender. The service is wonderful and the ambiance is very welcoming.

Yelp
Starting off strong with the drinks. We got the hibiscus and the ginger pineapple. I have never had hibiscus that was this good ! I knew it would be good when I saw they sold it by the gallon and I will be back to get a gallon. Perfectly sweet bursting with flavors just wow ! The ginger pineapple is great it's the perfect amount of ginger I love how spicy it is it's not over powering but if you don't like ginger please stand clear and do not get this you will love the hibiscus I have no complaints about anything that we ordered the chicken was probably the best chicken I have ever had. All the food is grilled and too perfection. The onions are even seasons so well I wish I got a side of onions to eat with each piece of meat. The price point is perfect for what you get. Plantains are nice and soft exactly how they're supposed to be. The jollof is really good and this is coming from a Nigerian ! Service was great you get there and they communicate to you right away and there is a store connected with some food supplies and gifts. The shop was nice only 2-3 chairs to sit so more of a grab and go spot. 20/10 I would recommend to everyone I know

Yelp
My friend suggested Koite and I was very excited to check out this place, as I enjoy Senegalese cuisine. It's small, but brightly decorated and welcoming. Koite is casual--you order at the counter and they bring your order to you, if dining in. By 5:30 pm on a Sunday, all the tables were full, a line was nearly out the door, they were taking phone orders, and they were doing a brisk pickup business. Orders may take a while, so plan ahead. Staff is friendly. We ordered the pastel, che-bu-yap, yuca, and sorrel juice. Everything was delicious. The pastel (fataya) is an empanada with flavorful beef. The yuca was perfectly fried. I absolutely loved the rice dish. It was so fragrant as I was spooning it onto my plate. And very spicy! I might be somewhat addicted. I'm looking forward to returning and trying more items at Koite.

Therese G.

Yelp
The quality of the food and service at Koité Grill has been on a downward trend, and I won't be returning to this establishment. While I have been a loyal customer of Koité Grill for years, I've noticed--based on my last two catering orders from the restaurant and latest interactions with its management--that the quality of the food and service have markedly declined over the last year. Most recently, I placed a large catering order (for nearly a thousand dollars) for a party I was hosting, and I was disappointed because: 1. The restaurant made a mistake in fulfilling my order. I ordered beef fatayas. The restaurant made an error and gave me fish fatayas instead. Most of my guests don't eat fish; I was consequently forced to discard most of the order I paid for. 2. The chicken dibi was bitter, unlike how it usually tastes--likely the result of too much coal exposure/over charring. This was the second time the restaurant gave us the wrong fatayas. And, overall, I have noticed a deterioration in food quality and flavor consistency even through the restaurant has continued to increase catering prices. When I reached out to one of the owners to share my concerns and explore avenues for compensation, they were dismissive and arrogant. While they apologized for the inconvenience, they refused to provide compensation or a refund. Going forward, I'll be looking elsewhere for my catering needs.

Yelp
First off, it's VERY tricky to capture the flavors and textures and complexities of West African food. My mom had come back with lots of negative comments. I thought she was overreacting and admittedly rolled my eyes, respectfully of course! However, having dined there I know EXACTLY what she meant. The akara (bean fritters) should be smoother, crunchier on the outside and almost pillowy on the inside. These were tasty but missed the mark. The egusi soup had leaf textures and the melon seeds were also more finely ground with a different ratio of ingredients. It tasted decent but didn't satisfy the craving. The service was fine but there was a considerable wait at times. Light on wait staff though. The ambiance was gorgeous. Very inspiring and welcoming decor. Beautiful and simple yet unique. I especially loved the chairs made from drums. If you had never had the most talented aunties cooking you haute West African cuisine, you would probably enjoy this and have a good experience from tasting the food combinations unique to this region. I, however, was soon scrolling in my phone for an auntie who would make me a pan of good stuff the way I remember. No fault of the cooks though! So I rated this as if I had never been blessed by home cooking.

Yelp
WHAT I ATE - MARYLAND @ Koite Grill Food Truck, Forrestville Plaza Mall, Forestville, MD We were on our way to a favorite carryout for some fried fish, but we saw, and smelled plumes of delicious smoke coming from the Forestville Plaza Mall. We had to stop and see what was on the menu, and that's how we were introduced to the Senegalese BBQ tradition of "Dibi". Dibi, we would learn is a style of Senegalese street food BBQ that starts with marinating meat (chicken, goat, lamb, or beef) in a blend of mustard, black pepper, onions and other spices, before grilling on high heat over charcoal. Severed with some spicy Jollof rice (something like a biryani) and you enter a world of flavor! The meat was tender, smokey and flavorful. The drinks available are a homebrew of tart hibiscus, or zingy ginger and pineapple. Be prepared to wait a bit if you order the lamb or short ribs. But the chicken looks to be popular, so they throw that on the fire as soon as they set up. As of this posting, they had been operating at the Forestville location Wednesdays thru Sundays for the past two months. They also have a traditional brick and mortar shop on Colesville Rd. in Silver Spring, MD that has a more extensive menu of traditional foods from Senegal. We are impressed with the quality of the food from their mobile BBQ and will put it on our list to try their Silver Spring restaurant soon! VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufcOhdZ14UE

Yelp
I ordered a small chicken dish (meat only) from their food truck on West Virginia Ave. in NEDC yesterday (May 28, 2025. I placed my order online and the food was ready ahead of the projected time. It was raining; yet, these brothers were out there grilling and serving with a smile. The chicken was AMAZING! I've never tasted chicken with a Senegalese flavor profile before. However, I can say it was a flavor bomb of the best kind. Also, the portion was insane. This business reflects black/African excellence in every way. I will eat here again and encourage others to do so.

Yelp
I'm from Ghana so I will say of course I think our jollof rice is the best. Now I will give credit where it's due, the jollof rice here at this Senegalese restaurant is absolutely delicious. I literally came back multiple weekends in a row to dine here. There is also a pepper sauce they provided to accompany the jollof. If you can't handle spice, I suggest you skip it because it's very spicy and I love it. I keep saying I will try different dishes when I go but I stick with the jollof rice, fataya and puff puff. I'm sure you can't go wrong with any dish here. Oneday, I'll try something different but for now, let me go with what I know and enjoy. Thiebou-yap: jollof rice, beef marinated with Senegalese herbs and spices, cooked with mixed vegetables Fataya: Deep fried Senegalese patties, stuffed with well-seasoned ground beef or fish fillet. Puff Puff: Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside donuts filled with shredded coconut.

Yelp
Yup 5 stars. a gem for sure. A few pro-tips right off the jump: 1) their website doesn't seem to have a menu, just thier location, so google it and check it out on doordash etc. 2) when you go in, walk up to the counter and grab a menu. You can sit wherever and then return up there when you're ready.4) Your food will come out with plates and in carryout containers since most of their business is that way it seems. Service is welcoming, super friendly and great. Ambiance is lovely, nicely decorated with i'm assuming Senegalese trinkets etc. Food: We ordered the Maafe, beef pastel, side plantains, side Yucca, and the Che-Bu-Yap (definitely spelled that wrong), with the intent to have leftovers. We loved everything. IT was all super flavorful and tasty and wonderfully seasoned. My only nitpick is that mine, the Che-Bu-Yap could've used one more chunk of meat, especially since my second piece was mostly bone and marrow. it was tricky to get any meat off that piece. 3 pieces of the meat of your choice would be the perfect balance with the Jollof Rice.
google avatar

Yelp
Omg if my husband didn't see a video about this on tiktok I would've really been missing out! The food here is delicious. We ordered the Lamb dibi which had a nice grilled taste to it with the grilled onions as well. We also got the jollof rice which I was not used to because it reminded me more of Fried rice but it was still very good! Lastly we ordered the beef fataya which was similar to a beef patty but I must admit a little better it was well seasoned ground beef with peppers inside and the patty itself was a nice oily crunch too.. cant wait to order this same exact meal again!

Yelp
It was tasty. You get a lot of food when you order. The Mac and cheese was tasty. It is very cheesy. The broken killed rice was tasty as well. I ordered the grilled chicken with onions and I would get it again. Over all I enjoyed myself. There isn't music playing. Or anything. Just a small spot to get good food and talk with friends. Because the food is fresh you will have to wait for your food. Please be patient. When you get your food it will be hot so be mindful.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm definitely going to be in this place once a week. The food was SO good and authentic. The restaurant itself was clean and felt home like, and the service was amazing. I ordered the dibi mixed grill with lamb and goat, as well as the beef meat pie. Both came out hot and fresh, and tasted amazing. The portion sizes are huge as well. I've only heard good reviews about this place and had to come see for myself. 100/10 recommended

Yelp
I visited Koite Grill food truck today, they were located at the fields at RFK. I couldn't help but to smell the goodness so I had to try! I decided to try the lamb and chicken dibi plate with jollof rice and plantain. Sooooo good! These guys are very nice they refer to you by name one you give it to them and I appreciate that, my player was done in less than 10 minutes and there were also other customers before me, my food was hot and fresh, and the food was GOOD. Extremely tasty!!! Only 4 instead of 5 stars because unfortunately, my lamb was all bone. Literally every single piece of lamb was all bone. But the rest of my food was amazing. Will def give them another try!
google avatar

Betty S.

Yelp
The food is tasty. I ordered Poissen a la Braise (Red Snapper) and was quite disappointed that the Snapper did not have any meat and was all bones. Not a good purchase for the price. When I mention that the fish did not have any meat, I received an apology from the server, & an excuse that's why there were two pieces. Again, the fish was all bones. With lots of onions & green peppers to hide the fact that they had removed the meat to put in other dishes.

Yelp
I've been a few times and I LOVE the food. My favorites were the beef suya vegetable jollof.

Yelp
10/10. I will definitely be going back next time I'm in Silver Spring! This was my first time to a Senegalese restaurant, so it was great that they had staff that were friendly and helpful with providing suggestions for people unfamiliar with the cuisine. The food was excellent! The menu is extensive, so there's a little something for everyone's taste. I would highly recommend the Thiebou Yap with lamb and Jollof rice (be prepared, the rice is a bit spicy). Everything is made to order, so if you're planning to dine at the restaurant be prepared for a long wait. The impression I got from the foot traffic was that most people ordered their food in advance for carry out. ALSO, if you get there early for lunch they may not have ever dish on the menu available yet. The decor was minimal, but was African themed and had a nice vibe and atmosphere that was comfortable. As for prices, you can expect to spend about $25 if you get a meal, sides, and a drink.

Yelp
Authentic Senegalese food! I loved it. The leftovers were even better the next day. The service was amazing as well. I felt like I was visiting friends. I would definitely visit if you're looking for something authentic and true to its roots.

Yelp
Truly authentic Senegalese food. It made me feel like I was back in The Gambia. I highly recommend the Okra stew.

Yelp
The lamb and goat dibi was excellent. The ginger pineapple drink was excellent. The ambiance and service is reminiscent of a dinner. Be advised street parking is limited but there is paid parking around the corner.

Yelp
Each entree and side was extremely flavorful with the standouts being the yuca fries, chicken dibi, and tender beef. The service was friendly and quick making it a great experience overall. Can be eaten in the restaurant as the ambiance is very relaxed or would be equally as good take out. Will be returning again soon!

Yelp
The flavors are everything! The jollof is top tier, the grilled meats are delicious, and I always get a bottle of the Hibiscus.

Yelp
Growing up in D.C. I was exposed to many foods from many countries. I've never had Senegalese food though...and if I did, I didn't know!! So that brings me to this spot in Silver Spring M.D. As always, I was excited to see what they're hittin on...So LET'S GO!! . Where I am: @koitegrill . Location Reviewed: 8626 Colesville Rd., Silver Spring M.D. . Menu Includes: Puff Puff (Beignets), K7 wings, Salads, Burgers & Wraps, Dibi Meat-Lamb, Goat, Beef, Chicken Suya, Kabobs, Red Snapper, Tilapia, Salmon, Thiebou-Dienne (Jollof with Fish), Thiebou-Yapp (Jollof with Lamb), Yassa (Lemony Stewed Chicken, Lamb, Fish, or Shrimp), Fries, Yuca, Couscous, Plantains, Jollof Rice, Craft Drinks, & More!! . Items Reviewed: Their Koité Drink (Sorrel $4.95). STAMP!! Refreshingly, sweet, & tangy!! Their Beef Fataya (Beef Pattie's with Fataya sauce-onion sauce 3 for $7). STAMP!! Heavy, meaty, & flavorful. The onion sauce was IT!! Like a concentrated, gelatinous French onion soup!! Their Beef Suya (seasoned beef on a skewer with onions, & Jollof rice $18). LIKE THAT!! Seasoned well, a tad bit tough, but they tasted great!! The Jollof was floral in taste, and very fragrant...DELICIOUS!! Their Dibi Chicken (Grilled chicken with onions, Senegalese spices, & a side of Mac n cheese $18). STAMP!! Grilled to perfection, plentiful, I even ate the onions!! Their Mac...DECENT. It lacked flavor. Their Thikary (a couscous sweetened rice pudding $5). PASS. The consistency, & heartiness of what I thought would be sweet was a no for me. However, many like this dish. . Customer Service: Excellent!! . Online Navigation: There was no website, ordering is done through a 3rd party. . Parking: Rough, Street/Metered, Enforced! . Recommendations: The Patties with the onion sauce, & The grilled chicken. =STAMP =LIKE THAT =DELICIOUS =DECENT =PASS =NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

Yelp
Loved the Lamb Dibi Meat, the Fish Fataya (Pastel), the Yuca, the Macaroni (though not fresh made), and the sweet Koite Pineapple Ginger drink. The food was seasoned well. Would definitely go back!

Yelp
My wife and I have been intending to try this place for a while and finally got to try it with my mother in law last month. My wife and I got the Grill Trio with chicken, lamb, and goat with jollof rice and a Thiebou Dienne which was a fish national dish. The service was good and over the counter and there is limited seating but we did get a table. Just to warn you, the Jollof rice is spicy but really good. The prices may seem a bit high but the portions are large and gives you plenty of leftovers or can be shared so it is actually a good value. We look forward to returning!

Yelp
The best Senegalese and African food on the DMV. We had almost everything! Cooked to PERFECTION, lamb & onions, okra stew, yassa with lamb and Mac n' Cheese. I will visit once a week to satisfy my west African food cravings! The customer service is impeccable, friendly and always with a smile.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant in downtown Silver Spring! I love how it's family-owned. The service there is excellent, so helpful and informative of the menu and gave me great recommendations of what to try. Their jollof rice is worth trying! I wish they served the red jollof rice every day, but the meals I tried were delicious. The meat was so tender and good. I also tried their Koite wings with the K7 sauce, a homemade sauce, and it was so tasty! They also offer homemade hot sauce that can be added to your food if you want to kick it up a notch, and as a person who loves spicy food, that sauce was amazing! I am definitely making this spot my new favorite place.

Yelp
Lemme preface my Nigerian and Ghanaian bredren.. you try, and it's commendable, but Senegalese Jollof rice is King. Simple as that. Now that's that out the way lol.. This place is amazing! Let's start from the top. The beef Pastel's were our starter and they hit the mark. It reminded me of a cross between an Indian samosa, and Argentinian empanada and a Jamaican beef patty. Just an amazing appetizer to begin with and it came with a beautiful tomato, onion and spice based dipping sauce. Delectable. Mains: The Yassa Poulet and the Maafe Chicken. We had both and they were both on point. The Yassa poulet is a citrusy, garlicky, oniony, amalgamation that's properly stewed with chicken inside it. Magic. The sauce that it's simmered in is bursting with flavor in every scoop. The Maafe Chicken is slightly different, being a peanut buttery and rich stew, blended with tomatoes and spices, with chicken inside as well. Again, more magic. Flavor with every single bite. Both dishes were paired with, the star of the show for me, a generous... GENEROUS.. portion of this elite Jollof rice. I legit can't explain this one but you'll just have to try it for yourself to find for yourself. I could eat this by itself and be perfectly satisfied. I too would boast about being the Jollof rice in DC for 2022. Not hard to see why. When you mix that all together, you get a treat that you do not want to stop. The drinks we washed them down with were homemade ginger pineapple and Baobob juice which is amazing cause you rarely find this around but they had it and took me right back to the continent. Elite. The service from the young lady behind the counter was perfect. Couldn't ask for more from her, who's charming, welcoming, always donning a smile on her face and she's very knowledgeable about the food if you ask her about anything on the menu. If I haven't talked you into this place by now, you're just a liar and cannot be trusted. If I have, stop reading this and get in there asap.. You won't regret it!

Yelp
I'm all about trying new spots especially black owned restaurants. What I enjoyed: The first thing we tried here was puff puff! These were good. They have shredded coconut in them so that was a nice twist. The next thing we had was bissap. That too was tasty. My boyfriend ordered Thiebou-Yap with beef for dinner. It was so tender, I almost wanted his plate instead. I had the maafe. This was also great, but lacked in the peanut taste. All in all the food was very good. What I did not enjoy: We decided to dine in since the restaurant store front just opened. When we walked in, we stood waiting as we were unsure who to approach or if we should seat ourselves. We also ate our dinner in to-go containers and plastic silverware. It was very odd. After dinner we had to tell them we were ready to pay for the bill. We were told we needed to pay at a counter in the back. While my boyfriend paid, I noticed trash cans beside our table so I assumed perhaps my expectations if this restaurant experience were too high and maybe this place is meant to be a to-go spot. I trashed my own food. I wish the be the employees communicated better and we had proper eating utensils. It was an interesting experience. While it was odd, the food was good and I wish this restaurant the best!
