"Set beneath an ornate 19th-century glass ceiling fringed by a burgundy canopy, this elegant, airy restaurant comes with modern, light wood panelled walls and bespoke matching furnishings. The refined, well-balanced tasting menu showcases the best of the season, with the spring and summer menus formed largely around plant-led dishes. Classical combinations are subtly modernised by clever twists and well-judged sauces, such as the piquant langoustine bisque with Brussels sprouts and marigold or the slightly tart, fruity venison jus flavoured with blackcurrant to accompany the fallow deer and beetroot." - Michelin Inspector

Well what can say. Wrong place to celebrate an occasion. Out of 11 close to microscopic size dishes two of them the fish and scallops were only good. Good god you spend 300-400 euros you expect at least not to fill hungry afterwards. I tried many similar fine dining restaurants and understand the theme but this one is a league on its own. Even if you tell them that they not offer something acceptable. Well it doesn’t matter if you tell them the occasion in the booking or reminding them at the arrival still like to talked to a wall. Well some place not ever visit again for sure

Wow, what an amazing experience! This one Michelin star was definitely worth the visit. The restaurant itself was beautiful inside. The service was impeccable and the food was incredible! We chose the four course menu that they serve through the week. We started with a delicious glass of corpinnat which is a Spanish bubbly. It was delicious! We started with a cabbage broth and a couple of small nibbles before the prefixed menu started! Everything was impeccably cooked! I would highly recommend this delicious place!

My recent visit to KOKA in Gothenburg was, in a word, perfection. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and sophisticated, setting the stage for what proved to be an exceptional meal. Every dish presented was a masterpiece, showcasing incredible attention to detail and a profound understanding of flavors. The ingredients were clearly of the highest quality, and the execution was flawless. Each course flowed seamlessly into the next, building a truly memorable gastronomic journey. The service was equally impeccable – attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm without being intrusive. Our servers anticipated our needs and provided insightful explanations for each dish, enhancing our appreciation of the culinary artistry. If I were pressed to offer a single suggestion for improvement in an otherwise faultless experience, it would be a brief appearance by the chef. A personal greeting or a quick word from the culinary genius behind such an outstanding meal would have been the ultimate touch, adding an even more intimate and memorable dimension to the evening. Despite this minor thought, KOKA stands out as a must-visit for anyone seeking a truly exceptional dining experience in Gothenburg. It's a testament to fine dining done right, and I eagerly anticipate my next visit. I highly suggest making use of the wine pairing option.

Koka lives upto every expectation. The service, food quality and atmosphere are all top notch. They have a good selection of wine and the cocktails are really good too. The food was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend this amazing restaurant and would definitely go back myself.

My wife and I had a wonderful experience here. The food was delicious and interesting, the menu meticulously curated, the presentation and plating of each dish beautiful, and the service attentive, kind, and accommodating. My wife says that the food tasted like a fresh and zesty summer day in Sweden - it felt like an artful representation of Sweden. We really enjoyed our experience here and would recommend it excitedly to anyone visiting. Of course, it is an expensive experience, but definitely worth it for epicurean foodies. Everyone who served us was very nice, patient, and knowledgeable. Towards the second half of the meal, we were feeling a bit tired due to Jetlag and requested that the pacing of the meal be sped up and they were very accommodating about that. Many of the dishes had local ingredients and paid to Swedish cuisine. We also love to see that they had a non-alcoholic drink pairing.

The menu offers vegan and vegetarian options. You must book in advance. The food is delicately and originally cooked. We had a great experience.

We had an incredible dining experience at Koka. Everything was absolutely perfect, from the warm and attentive service to the beautifully curated dishes. The main course featuring mushrooms was truly exceptional – a masterpiece of flavors and textures that showcased the best of Nordic cuisine. Every detail, from the presentation to the taste, was meticulously crafted. highly recommend!

I must admit, I had higher expectations for the dining experience. Although the food was decent overall, it was not exceptional as one would anticipate from this type of restaurant. The duck had a flavorful bloodline that was not pleasant and the fish was quite plain. We were served by two waitresses, one of whom was attentive and efficient while the other was not. We had to request additional silverware several times to properly enjoy our meal.

Yelp
5 out of 6 of us got stomach flu 5 out of 6 members of our group of childhood friends simultaneously suffered from severe gastrointestinal issues following a visit to a local restaurant. A long night filled with repeated vomiting and diarrhea was followed by a week of sick leave for several of us. We all consumed the same dishes, yet none of us have fully recovered and still struggle with our appetite several days after the visit. The restaurant informed us that the oysters in one of the dishes might have been the source of the infection and that they are now considering removing them from the menu. However, this response feels insufficient given the severity of our symptoms and the fact that all of us were so severely affected. The owner, Björn, has refused to refund us for the meal that led to the illness and has instead offered gift certificates at a lower value to visit Koka or any of his other restaurants. This option is unacceptable to us; we want a full refund and have no desire to visit any of his establishments again. We have filed a complaint with the Swedish Environmental Administration and have informed the Guide Michelin about the incident. We feel it is important that the public is aware of how this restaurant conducts its business. We urge everyone reading this to spread the information further. It is important that consumers are informed and protected against similar experiences.

Yelp
A fantastic place to eat a degustation menu! All dishes we tried were fantastic! Our favorites were the nettle and strawberries with mustard caramel. I was really amazed by their home made butter, super fresh and light! Service was great, atmosphere fantastic! I especially liked the interior, tables were covered in leather, which basically told a story from every guest. Loved it!

Yelp
We were a party of ten - so we made reservations and preordered the 6 course tasting menu. (mandatory) plus pairing wine menu. I am very satified with food preparations and service - excellent service and super friendly yet professional staff! Menu is a lot of fish an seafood - we had one seafood alergic, one vegetarian and one gluten intolerant person in our party - which we had "pre-warned". No problems at all!

Yelp
We went out of our way to eat at this restaurant since the history behind it is so intriguing. It is an excellent restaurant and very deserving of the Michelin star! The service is top notch and the food was very nicely prepared. Loved the wine pairings as well...spot on!

Yelp
Just had the five course menu. It was absolutely fantastic. Tastes very well balanced and excellent progression of tasting profile throughout the meal. Also very nice and genuinely present service! Price level absolutely reasonable.

Yelp
Dinner was pretty awesome. I had the best glass of wine I've ever had (2014 Domaine Philippe Tessier Cour-Cheverny La Porte Doree). I go the 3 course meal. First up was mussels, but I'm allergic, so I got smoked mackerel with mushrooms and horseradish instead. No complaints! This was followed by duck with cabbage. Dessert was verbena ice cream snow with rhubarb. 3 bonus bites included a cold cucumber soup, shaved asparagus with caviar cream, and pine bark biscuits with blackberries. It was about perfect. The presentation was all a little odd. It was all super plain. For instance, the cabbage leaves covered the duck dish, and the verbena was "snow" that covered all the rhubarb underneath. Other than the wine, the dessert was my favorite dish. Cooked and raw rhubarb made for an amazing texture. I made 2 changes to my reservation, and they were very accommodating. The staff was really knowledgeable and friendly.
