"Guests are cosseted from start to finish during this theatrical dining experience at the 14-seat counter in the Capella Hanoi hotel basement. Affable Chef Hiroshi Yamaguchi skilfully cooks teppanyaki dishes that are rich and complex in flavour. The menu's distinct decadence is epitomised by the premium ingredients flown in fortnightly from Japan (abalone, spiny lobster, sea urchin and Hokkaido hairy crab). The certified Kyori beef arrives from Yaeyama monthly." - Michelin Inspector

Izakaya by Koki

"Tucked away in the basement of Capella hotel, Izakaya is a modern and chic setting, with various seating areas, including more intimate sofa areas. Guests are welcomed with a complimentary sake with aromatic notes of tropical fruit. Sourcing 70% of its ingredients from Japan, this restaurant has an extensive menu including a specialty of grilled dishes: the grilled black cod with Saikyo sauce is particularly impressive. Be sure to save room for the signature dessert: housemade yame matcha or black truffle ice cream." - Michelin Inspector

We chose Koki to celebrate my birthday this year at Capella Hanoi. Koki - House of Senses, unites Japanese flavours through Akio Bar & Lounge, Hibana's MICHELIN Star Teppanyaki, and Izakaya's MICHELIN selected curated dishes. It was an enchanting feast for the senses with layers of flavours embedded in each single dish. The teppanyaki menu includes the freshest seafood and beef dishes which were elegantly presented with attentive service. Staff was detailed-oriented and professional, and were keen to chat with customers to make their day. A birthday touch was also offered for my celebration to complete our joyous evening.

Such an epic night with great chefs who entertain and educate. You see each course being made and watch experts create greatness. The staff is incredibly attentive and the courses weave together. It’s an elegant fun night and a paradise. Great experience

We came straight off a plane to eat here for lunch, because it was booked out for all other sessions during our stay in Hanoi. Exceptional food served by Thien, I highly recommend the black cod. The cocktails were tailored and curated to your tastes by Nhat, surprising your tastebuds to new flavours and mixes. Would come here again just for the drinks

We were allowed to have a truly special experience at Koki. This is not a place to visit in a rush or with your mind elsewhere, but a restaurant that asks you to slow down – to make time for each product, each subtle flavour, and for the people who gently guide you on a culinary journey. Every ingredient is chosen with great care and carries its own story. From these elements, the chefs compose a menu that is both harmonious and diverse, like a well-tuned conversation where nothing is random and nothing is too much. Yet what truly sets this restaurant apart are the people who work here – with an attention that is never intrusive but always deeply considerate, they lend a soul to the entire experience. You leave Koki not only full, but inwardly enriched. Thank you to the whole team that made our night so memorable.

Avoid! One of the most disappointing Michelin experiences. Japanese steam egg with crab meat was plain and tasteless. Wagyu beef in curry sauce with rice was a joke! The curry sauce was salty. USD 50 for this portion? The batter of tempura was thick and far from authentic Japanese style. Fried chicken had nothing special. Complimentary white chocolate with mango filling was sweet. Ambience wise, tables were quite closed with each other. Luckily, the place was emptied, only 3 tables were occupied in total. Overrated restaurant. Can’t believe this place classified as Michelin standard!? Food, ambiance, plating were all below average. Pricy restaurant for no reason.

An absolute amazing experience. The food, service, and ambience were top notch. We loved seeing the all the food prepared in front of us teppanyaki style. The chef was very friendly and explained every dish to us. Each course was an interesting flavor profile that was very diverse but blended well with the whole meal. The plating was absolute perfection with attention to detail. The highlight had to be the Japanese Waygu. They showed us the authenticity certificate and cooked it to perfection to a melt in your mouth experience. Would highly recommend to anyone passing through!

We did the izakaya seating and it was ok. The drinks were fantastic (I had the Autumn drink). The sushi was also very good. The other dishes we tried like the skewers etc were just ok. Very kind of them to do a dessert though and loved the macarons! At 9pm on a Wednesday it was quiet with just a few tables.

I had a wonderful dinner at Koki, Capella Hanoi with à la carte dishes. The sashimi was fresh, the beef hotpot rich in flavor, and the dumplings very delicate. Service was outstanding – Thắm and Nam were attentive and friendly, while Hà Quang gave excellent wine recommendations. Manager Rin also came by to ensure everything was perfect. A truly refined dining experience that I would highly recommend.
