Had lunch at Kokin after a day at Stratford Westfield and was genuinely impressed. Hidden on the 7th floor of The Stratford Hotel, the calm wabi-sabi space and bright natural light set the perfect tone.
The Japanese assorted starter platter was beautiful and seasonal, with standout silky tofu and a rich eel chawanmushi. The Grilled Wagyu Set was excellent—the A5 wagyu melted like soft, buttery chocolate, and everything from the karaage to the sashimi was fresh and well-balanced. The Chirashi Set was generous and delicious, with sweet tuna and popping salmon roe. The okonomiyaki was comforting and topped with a gooey duck egg.
Great value for lunch, refined flavors, and thoughtful presentation. Would definitely return.
