Kokochi Izakaya

This is a cute little place in Verdun. We went on a Saturday night around 8 and it wasn't packed. The deco inside was really nice, asian style. The gentleman that greeted us was really nice and was also our waiter. Although he seemed french he did the effort to speak to us in English which we appreciated. The menu contains starters, sushi section and also some hot and cold dishes. We decided to each get a drink, our drinks were good. The service was pretty fast. We got the beef Bao, but unfortunately it was not good, there was not much flavour and the Bao bread was all soggy which we didn't like. We also got octopus which was so yummy. And we got the sushi platter which came with nigiris, sashimi and Maki's, some of the sushis were not to my liking because of the ingredients in it and we couldn't choose what we wanted. Overall this place had good service And the drinks, the octopus and the sashimis we're good. I would say you can try this place once, maybe to choose other stuff on the menu but personally I won't go back again for the food because it wasn't anything wow.

The restaurant has a very nice decor, genuine vibes but the food and drinks just wasn’t it. We live in the neighbourhood and we’ve always wanted to give our local restaurant a try and especially it’s asian cuisine. We were also surprised that their insta following is at 53K but barely any interactions on their posts. We did not try their sushi which could be their specialty. We noticed a section at the entrance of the restaurant that was specifically for the sushi maker to prepare sushi. All in all it’s not inedible but it’s really not the asian food we are used to eat.

Lovely interior and a nice selection of foods here. I ordered the ramen which had a not too thick soup. It was good but the soup could have been a bit hotter. The tables are laced with stickers from various places which made for a lovely decorum.

this Izakaya on Wellington has delicious food (see photos of the menu with our picks highlighted) and attentive and knowledgeable service. the inside is nicely decorated, but the AC was broken, so we were lucky to eat dinner between rain showers on their attractive patio. all our dishes were cold, as they should be, with intricate flavors that delighted the tongue. I look forward to a return visit.

Really nice presentations. Friendly staff. Good quantity. A lot of care given to the details. Fish is good but not incredible. Ramen was good. The last dish was crispy rice with tuna. A nice experience overall. Welcome in verdun :)

Had an amazing experience here! Service was on point and very friendly. Decor and ambiance were fantastic The highlight was the definitely the food! Very creative Izakaya food with out of this word flavours :)

So disappointed by the restaurant. average food, LOUD place, slow service, high prices. This new place was looking promising. We were 4 people, friends trying to enjoy new place. First of all, food style: it's not a Japanese restaurant, but "inspired by Japanese food". when you get croquette de patate douce et fromage, it's not Japanese. Also, the place is LOUD. I mean it's nice to have conversations, but i had to really focus to be able to hear the conversation we try to had. The food was average. I mean the okonomiyaki was very good the rest was disappointing. Grilled chicken yakitori was a burger, Tonkotsu ramen was missing flavours. The service was SLOW. As it's tapas style, we ordered 2 tapas per person. They took 2h and a half to serve them. yet, the waitress passed by every 15' to ask if we wanted more drinks ($$$). Prices at the time were on the expensive side, with some options at a decent price.

What an experience! I recently tried their new menu and it was absolutely delicious! You can't go wrong with great food and great service. I recommend the roasted cauliflower and magret teriyaki :D

We could not of asked for a better date night then with Sid and his amazing staff ! We were greeted by the owner and I took a few minutes to take some pics of this location this way I could show it off as I always do. We had a pleasant time and left with full bellies! Everything was so beautiful it's hard to pick a favorite dish but I think the tuna tataki was my number 1 with that ponzu butter ! I loved the chicken it was made with love and the sauces just made it perfect. We had some great drinks but the floral sake made us happy such a great suggestion. I will be coming back with a group of friends next :)

Kokochi Izakaya is a brand new Japanese Izakaya, which just opened up on Wellington Street in Verdun, Quebec. I've ordered delivery through DoorDash, and the order was prepared and delivered very quickly. On the menu: * Premium Sushi Assortment (Chef's choice) (18 Pcs) * Beef Skewers (Grilled aged beef with tare sauce) (2 Pcs) * Agedashi Tofu (Tempura and panko fries tofu, green onions, katsuobushi, fried enoki, edamame) * KokoSando (Crispy Chicken Panko Sandwich, Kokochi picked coleslaw, provolone cheese, parsley and sake yogurt, spicy mayo) * Furikake Homemade Fries (Furikake & Hondashi) * Tiger Rolls (Salmon tartare, shrimp, avocado, cucumber, Tobiko, lettuce, crispy wonton) The Sashimi, Maki and the Nigiri were fresh. The aged beef skewers were smoky. The Agedashi Tofu, sweet and flavourful. The KokoSando chicken sandwich was crispy, cheesy and packed with veggies, and was perfectly complimented by the Furikake Homemade fries. I MISS good sushi. I miss eating out and all. I was feeling down yesterday. So...... my loving husband came home this evening with a surprise for me. If anyone knows about me, knows that my spirit can be lifted with food. My husband came home with a bag of happiness ya'll!!! Delicious sushi! He got us the maki and and sushi selection and the sashimi selection for diner. It was beautiful! I was well prepared, well executed. It was delicious and fresh. I really loved the different assortments offered in the platters. And you know usually you get just enough soy sauce, ginger and wasabi right? Well here, you get way more then enough. A must try if you ask me.

Honestly I was expecting something outstanding when I saw the other reviews. To say I was disappointed with the food would be an understatement: everything tasted the same except for the sushi dish which was bitter. The curry was the only thing that was half decent. Service was fine. It was overpriced, bland, disappointing. I will not be returning.

Got some takeout while i was in the hood! It s the old restaurant Su! Got some sashimi and nigiri! Was really fresh! Lookin forward for the opening! Aparently there s gonna be a sushi counter inside the place!

It was a chilly Saturday night when I decided I needed me some ramen and thankfully, this newly opened izakaya in Verdun, had some in their menu. So I ordered online for delivery and in record time, my order arrived still warm! I kept my broth warm in the stovetop as I enjoyed the delicious harumaki rolls as an entree. Honestly, these fried rolls were delicious! Tasty and nicely filled, served with a delicious dipping sauce. There's a reason they limit the order quantity to four! on to the ramen! I poured the warm broth into the bowl and let it sit to get the noodles all plump and yummy. The pork was amazingly tender, the egg was cooked just right and the vegetables were abundant! The broth was a little on the salty side but then again, I hardly eat any sodium so I'm nit best at gauging saltiness. The ramen bowl was much bigger than I expected too but I managed to finish . Overall, very pleased with the food, service and seeing it's affordable pricing, I am looking forward to trying all the other items on the menu including the gyudon and chicken wings !

Unprofessional. Expensive food for minimal taste. Service was extremely slow. Servers was rude. Huge disappointment and I'll never go back.
