Google
Disappointing dinner celebrating a family birthday after many good experiences here in the past. Forgot one of our apps, had to ask for another, table was below dripping ductwork or roof leak, we skipped dessert. Food was good, fresh, well presented, nothing special this time.

Google
A great lunch experience. The decor is very pleasant and the atmosphere is on point. The server was incredibly nice, the food came quickly and was super tasty. For a work lunch where time is tight, they do it well without making anything feel rushed. Every roll I tried was awesome and the lunch box was enough for two. Will definitely go again and highly recommend.

Google
The food here was good. Pretty much your typical Asian fusion with sushi. We mostly had sushi which tasted fresh. We had the rock shrimp app and that was very good. Overall a solid showing and I would indeed return for another meal.

Google
I'm a bigger ramen fan. I was looking for something along the way and found this place, generally not bad. And the ramen turned out to be very tasty. I rate it at 5*

Google
First I would like to say I love this place! My family and I always dine inside the restaurant without disappointment, however they need to step it up with the take out orders. I Picked up my $180 takeout order and was very disappointed in the presentation of the order. The chicken and steak hibachi contained no chicken or filet mignon in the dishes mostly vegetables and chicken was cut so small. I would expect more food for that amount of $$. Looks like this restaurant is trying to cut corners with takeout orders for sure. Also sauces were missing for the signature sushi rolls. I will not be ordering takeout from this restaurant again. Rather Kira sushi or Made in Asia for takeout.

Google
5/5 Will definitely return for more sushi and sake. The sushi and entrees were all good. I think what really sold the establishment as above par was the prompt service, cleanliness, and premium sake options. It's a relaxed atmosphere, very well maintained.

Google
Mutual pick for a first date. We're both from out of town and settled on this place. Got there around 6 and the place was near empty. By 730 it was PACKED and getting a little loud. Wait staff was VERY attentive. I almost felt rushed to order eat and get out! Prices were average. Maybe even on the low side. She got some sort of sushi rolls and said they were among the best she had even had. I had some sort of basil chicken entree which was also very good but whatever. It was basil chicken. Parking is not an issue. Might want to call ahead and get your name on the list depending on time. Idk if it fills up every night. We went on Wednesday so Friday is prolly jammed. would definitely go back again if ever in the area.

Google
Everything about this place is so lovely. We went out just to have a quick dinner. Cocktails were delicious, food was exquisite, and service impeccable. 5/5 for sure! Highly reccomend.

Yelp
I was driving up to Connecticut and was passing the Armonk exit on the highway. Found this place and it was amazing. We started with the yellowtail jalapeño appetizer. We got a three roll one special. We chose the yellowtail scallion roll, salmon roll and a peanut avocado roll. We also got the TNT roll. It was absolutely delicious. i'd go out of my way to come back here again

Yelp
Very fresh sushi, interesting combo rolls. The ambience isn't anything great (a little run down in spots) and it does get noisy. Not a big deal considering the food is really good. Where they lost one star is the way they rushed the meal. It was a Tuesday night, many tables were open at all times. Yes, we were enjoying our dinner at a leisurely pace, but to come by and ask to take our plates when there's still food on them? And then to drop the check in the middle of dessert? Yikes.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST place for Japanese! I almost dont want to post this because it's already a very busy place. The owner and staff are always welcoming and willing to accommodate anyone or any dietary needs or tweaks! It's a delightful and delicious experience every single time!
google avatar

Karen L.

Yelp
We didn't have a reservation at a time we wanted so we called the restaurant. It was for two people and the manager was able to fit us right in! We got there in ten minutes as we promised and the place was packed on a Friday. The sushi was fresh and there were a plenty of pieces that we didn't have room for dessert! It was a little loud for my taste but that was to be expected since it seems like a very popular restaurant. I don't think it's owned by Japanese because there was "Hot and Sour Soup" (not Japanese) on the menu, and some other "Americanized" Japanese fusion dishes, which is fine if you don't care that it might not be 100 % authentic Japanese.

Yelp
It was a nice restaurant however I order two appetizers and needed a microscope to find the food, I order surf and turf and the steak was the children size, spend $38 for a meal that needed a microscope to find, it was ridiculous. Reconsider your portions, it is a lot of money for no food.

Yelp
This place was god awful, it was my birthday yesterday so my husband and bff took me out for sushi which is my favorite. My best friend works around the corner in valhalla and most of her friends order sushi from here alot so this place was recommended. We walk in with 3 people waiting to be seated. They dropped off water but the staff was anything but friendly( very passive aggressive, very rude). We ordered drinks, 2 soft drinks and two alcoholic beverages, we were RUSHED to place an order to the point where we panicked and chose literally anything quickly not having enough time to look throughly, some people would like to talk and get acquainted before ordering beverages let alone dinner ( im a server of 15 years) . Anyway my anxiety started climbing because of us being rushed to order. So we did, they got steak hibachi and I got sushi (all rolls I chose were over $18 ) not at all cheap mind you. She took our side plates from underneath our napkins for what reason before we even got appetizers??? The portions for the hibachi were ridiculously small it was veggies and steak on a plate no bigger than a side plate for appetizers. My sushi was falling apart but none the less good. They came to the table only to ask us if we were done and ready for the check...... ummm what? Its my birthday I kinda want dessert and maybe another glass of wine .so as any server she asked if we wanted dessert, we said YES. The server brought the check instead. Okay no problem I dont feel comfortable here anymore lets just go. The bill came To $180 for 3 people. Thats fine however the service was PAINFUL, and the food wasnt that great. You look for exceptional service when paying that much money, she never even came back to the table. We all felt rushed and judged, she wasted no time coming over to grab the checkbook because my friend didnt even finish signing the receipt before she snatched it , My friend obviously tipped like shit after everything . I watched the server walk to EVERY SINGLE person that works there and laugh at her tip. THE MANAGER EVEN came over to ask why her tip was shit. NEVER in my LIFE have I ever had a manager come to the table to ask why her tip wasn't adequate. Tipping is a PRIVILEGE for good service , tipping is a GRATUITY its not automatically Guaranteed. For us to feel rushed through the entire dinner was ridiculous for her to expect a $40 tip. Or for the manager to inquire about her $40 tip she wasnt getting. This place is a joke, their staff, their management its all LAUGHABLE. Btw I had the privilege of watching them put up a flat screen tv the entire time I was there, didnt seem like they could figure out how to mount it to the wall mount. Just like they couldn't figure out how her tip was $16 as opposed to $40 for the crap service they provided. I thought $16 was fine for what we experienced here. Im in this industry for 15 years, if you dont like your tip you adjust what you did wrong and lastly you wait till the table leaves to talk your shit if you aren't happy with what you got princess. Maybe next time youll fix your attitude before you reach a table and expect a 20% tip. Absolutely awful experience.

Yelp
Food was great! Have the duck appetizer and the pineapple seafood friend rice! They are both amazing! Staff remembered us from our first time there. Truly a great place to have quality food

Eduardo L.

Yelp
So cute in there and the food tastes really good. The soup and fried rice are good. Prices aren't bad
google avatar

Meagan D.

Yelp
The presentation of the food was beautiful! And the ambiance of the restaurant was nice as well, smaller with a lot of tables but you don't feel on top of each other. Also very clean. 4 stars because the ebi dish was imitation shrimp :( for $4.5 a piece I would hope to have real shrimp, the cali roll doesnt include cucumber which most places have included, and the waitress made us feel a little rushed (tried to take our dessert from us 3 times before we finished and it took the bill before we had the chance to tip and sign).

Cassandra C.

Yelp
Very good! Spicy edamame is amazing! Will definitely be coming back again! Also special rolls were delish

Japanese food that's this hassle free and this strong a value almost never tastes this good. What a great find!

Yelp
Late review (I came here a few months ago). This place is great if you're in search of a Japanese restaurant that offers dine-in. They provide amazing service: our waitress was so sweet and friendly. She offered to take our photo for us when she noticed we were taking photos; she also memorized our order without having to write anything down and didn't forget anything. They check on you just the right amount of times and made sure our area was clean. The appetizers came out very fast: kani salad, green salad, shumai, shishito peppers, spring rolls. Everything came out freshly made and tasted great. As for the main dishes, we ordered a variety of sushi, all with brown rice: sweet potato tempura, shrimp tempera, eel avocado, salmon, philadelphia roll, dynamite, flying fish roe. The sushi was good becuase they don't add too much rice - they focus on the ingredients, which I personally enjoy so that you're not stuffed on rice and can enjoy the flavors. My favorite was the dynamite sushi. Lastly, we got fried banana and lava cake for dessert. Both came with vanilla ice cream. Overall, the food was great, atmosphere was nice, and the place was clean!

Yelp
The best sushi in area Eric , the proprietor is always there and makes sure everything is right . We eat there several times a week and can not say enough good things about food and staff Highly recommend

Yelp
We love Koku! Best sushi for us in northern Westchester. It's so fresh and flavorful, haven't had a bad meal ever. The ambience is great and the servers are quick and reliable- some are super friendly and great and others not so much.
google avatar

Ivana S.

Yelp
Great sushi; probably best in the area... Fast service, good atmosphere...crispy duck is really unique and amazing...

Safak Sicimoglu S.

Yelp
Koku is definitely our go-to Japanese joint when we're craving some decent sushi. Happiness on a plate , Eric is a genius , and do not miss Jason , no one can leave unhappy here , the specials the oysters and get ready to be blown away by Jason he is a master with his specialty cocktails and just him being Jason , he knows everyone by name and they truly care and love there customers , they have become our New York family . Not to be missed.

Yelp
My boyfriend found this plays while on a day trip. It was good sushi not great. I would go there again for a quick bite nothing more. Sushi was a bit cold. Its just a personal preference I like my sushi rice warm. - great atmosphere - clean - followed covid precautions -Friendly staff
google avatar

Tao L.

Yelp
I went to this restaurant after reading reviews. It was a surprise that the portion was kind of small and limited. An entree at roughly $35 bucks did not come with either soup or salad, not even a rice. Compare to other Japanese sushi bars in Westchester, this restaurant is not recommended.

Yelp
We ordered take out for New Year's Eve for three. We got: veg gyoza, chicken katsu, 4 veg sushi rolls, veg udon, and mushroom salad. With tip, it came to $100, which is a bit more expensive than our usual sushi place, but I figured that if it was good, it was worth it. It was not worth it. The sushi rolls were falling apart, the asparagus over cooked, the udon flavorless and gummy, the tempura roll had no sauce on it, and the mushroom salad was 10% mushrooms and 90% poorly cooked spinach. But this wasn't the worst part. What was the worst part, you ask? The piece of hard green plastic I bit into while eating the salad. We will not be ordering from Koku again. Waste of money, terrible food, and questionable cleanliness/safety.

Cookie K.

Yelp
We frequent Koku for take out sushi and it's very good. My husband likes the dried beef and red fish eggs. My daughter likes their salmon roll. Excellent in terms of offerings and freshness. Definitely worth a try. Keep in mind its a nice place, so take out for four will run you around $200

Stephanie G.

Yelp
Delicious food, spot on service. Not fancy though, people walking in with sweatpants and slippers. That would be my only complaint.

Lisa A.

Yelp
Service, drinks, and food was fantastic! I took my sister there for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon and wasn't crowded at all we were seated right away in a booth and we pretty much ordered appetizers as follows and everything was out of this world and fresh and delicious with the exception of the crispy duck which seemed to be a little bit overcooked and dry but if it wasn't it would've been really tasty and flavorful. I think this is a great place for date night and I just really enjoyed it

John P.

Yelp
Gross. We recently got take out that was the lowest quality food I've come across in Armonk. Avoid.
google avatar

Bonnie G.

Yelp
I've been going to Kira for over a decade and just realized this spot exists. A solid four stars round out this place. - delicious creamy ginger dressing and huge green salad and slices of avocado with sesame seeds, the best dish - the sushi roll with filet mignon and fish is like a surf and turf roll and it's delicious for an indecisive person like me - chicken teriyaki is pretty good, but wouldn't reorder - tons of tables and spacious booths, great for groups and no wait - not a fan of the pulsing dance music in such a family-packed restaurant. Trying to seem edgy, eh?
google avatar

William S.

Yelp
Unbelievable sushi. The absolute best spicy tuna roll I've ever had. The special roll with filet mignon was delicious and for $18, 100% worth it. The star of the meal was probably the spicy edamame. This is no ordinary edamame - get this!! Great prices and food, wish I lived nearby!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I simply love this place. I always stop in here when I'm in the area, because I love their sushi. I've been to a lot of sushi places and this by far is one of my all time favorites. They have a nice selection of dishes besides sushi and believe me they are all tasty. I can't wait to go back. Make sure you stop in if you are in the area.
google avatar

Vika M.

Yelp
If you want a high quality sushi and I mean REALLY HIGH like the one you had in NYC at Masa or at Suchi Inoue then this place is for you! Eric the owner is very personal, and friendly staff compliment the entire restaurant ambiance. There is so much to choose and it is always delicious. Choose from weekly seafood specials from the world famousTOKYO Tsukiji Market to beef Negimaki. Love restaurant and highly recommend. VM
google avatar

Kaela N.

Yelp
I went back in for lunch (I got the chicken teriyaki lunch box- it was excellent), and the music was much better! Thanks Koku! If I could give ten stars now, I would. See you next week.
google avatar

Yelp
Great atmosphere and in my opinion, the freshest, best tasting sushi in armonk. Service is polite, helpful and very quick to refill water or tea. Highly recommend
google avatar

Andrew C.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a friend's start into entrepreneurship. Absolutely lovely restaurant. It's a classy/hip atmosphere. Quality of food is pretty darn good. I was pleasantly surprised, because I'm still under the impression that out of NYC the food level tends to be more low key and less pronounced. Dead wrong here. Everything was simply delicious. Note: Always remember that shishito peppers will be "spicy" in 1 out of 10/20. Please don't be a stranger and complain something is wrong from the kitchen later. (That was a great day watching a couple's date gone wrong/funny)
google avatar

Bella B.

Yelp
Everything was incredibly delicious!! Tuna Carpaccio ($13) and Truffle Scallop (14) are to absolutely die for!! I recommend delicious martini to accompany: Lovin' Lychee if you like sweet (my fave) or Saketini (not sweet...my boyfriend's preference). This place is awesome!!! When you come in..ask to sit with Simon!!
google avatar

Sherri S.

Yelp
Such a fun dining experience. The four of us really went to town and ordered so much you would think it was our last meal. We enjoyed it all and it was very fresh. I started with the house hot sake. It was excellent and a good value ($11). It was served in the larger size sake carafe. Our guests split a bottle of the cold sake. They seemed to enjoy but in my humble opinion the house hot sake is the way to go. Shishito pepper was a new one for me...didn't appeal to me from the description and I would never have ordered this on my own. I like trying new things which is part of the fun. So, I was pleasantly surprised as to just how delicious these were. I would order it again. Edamame was predictable...I like when it is served warmer than it was...so it was average. Hard to mess edamame up anyway. Miso soup was a nice amount and it was good but still I have had better. It was warm...I like it hotter. Pan fried Gyoza were also very good and a nice pick. My picky Hubby raved about his dinner. (Phew!). He had the basil sautéed filet Mignon. I would compare it to a stir fry with the diced beef , onions, peppers, mushrooms and side of rice. It was a generous portion, very tender beef.. and I actually heard him say "yum" quite a few times. The 3 of us ordered all kinds of sushi and rolls. The Westchester was my favorite roll with tri color caviars on top. Sooo good. Not a very plump roll but it was quality. Unagi (eel) was amazing, salmon was mouth watering...in fact all of the sushi was excellent. I have had larger cuts of sushi but still it was all quality. Our service was spot on and timely. The noise level is very high on Saturday night with every table full. Hard to hear across the table without kinda shouting. If it were more than four I would not want to dine here bc of the noise level. Tables are very close together. We were not lucky enough to get a booth. Overall, I highly recommend as I think most people would enjoy.

Susannah R.

Yelp
Terrible service. Food is overpriced for what it is. Overall disappointing and wouldn't recommend.
google avatar

CJ P.

Yelp
portion size to price ratio needs major improvement. Either give customers more food, or reduce the prices on the menu. The food tasted good, but not so good it warrants those price to portion ratios.

Lisa D.

Yelp
My husband and friends come here frequently. Everything about the atmosphere and service is wonderful... the food is superior in comparison to many other similar restaurants. They recognize frequent customers and know what they want and whenever possible mention new and special option. Also for those of us like myself that are not sushi fans, there are plenty of options ..all are delicious. You will love it!!!
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
We walked into Koku for early dinner. There were almost no other customers but we didn't feel welcomed by staff at all. They were very short and almost rolled their eyes at us when we needed a minute to look at the menu. The inside had a great design with lots of sitting for groups. Unfortunately the families that were there were absolutely obnoxious. The kids were literally drumming on glasses with chopsticks and screaming. Nothing was done by any of the staff and our meal was basically ruined. The price also isn't right for this asian fusion restaurant. For a specialty roll you can get almost everywhere the size was ridiculous. It was good but I was just unsatisfied honestly. My suggestion, go a town over and get a better deal with better customers and staff.
google avatar

Joel S.

Yelp
Excellent quality and nice setting. Build-out for space was well done and sushi bar setting is comfortable. Sushi was very fresh and presentation was excellent. Having said that, I do not think the quality was any better than Kira Sushi down the street. Portions are extremely small for what you are paying which is NYC not Westchester prices. I ordered a special roll they call TNT roll which is wrapped with Toro for $17. They were out of Toro but said they would make it with Tuna. When I asked if it would still be $17 they said yes. Really, Toro is double the price of tuna and you can't even reduce the price? by a dollar or 2 ? Short-sided decision for any business, let alone a local business. I left feeling I was being taken advantage of and also got no feeling they could care less if I came back, which for a local restaurant is not the right feeling. So, although their quality was excellent, everything else added up to a negative experience.

Maria M.

Yelp
It starting to look like the people at this place are getting spoiled with popularity. We noticed that the sushi became less in quantity and size, they started using more rice... It's always a bad sign.. The hostesses are unfriendly and rude.. The place was always loud but lately the echo is even worse.. it's impossible to hear each other. The food is not as good tasting either.. VERY disappointing.. We now go to Dai in Pleasantville..- so much better!!!the staff is rude, the portions are getting smaller and smaller.. The prices are getting g higher. They always act like they are doing a huge favor, especially, in front. Smile?? They have no idea what that means... dropping them after years of going there. It's a much better good, service , portions and people in pleasantville, Restsurant " Dai Sushi"

Yelp
Squash Lobster soup was delicious, creamy, and had chunks of lobster. We had two rolls that were excellent. Fast service. Very nice server. Fresh sushi. Nice ambiance. Romantic and quiet. We will come back and would highly recommend.

Yelp
Great #sushi in #foodietown #Armonk #NorthCastle. Incredible fresh live scallop appetizer for $18. Fresh spicy rolls, eel sushi, salmon & yellowtail sashimi. All good. Great & friendly service. Right around the corner from the best realtor in town @GrandLuxRealty.
google avatar

Jenny A.

Yelp
Our dinner at Koku was delicious. We tried their Tri-Color Three Way sushi/maki combination, their kampachi sushi (baby yellowtail à la carte, absolutely delicious and my new favorite) and their Greenwich roll (great texture and flavor combination). The Tri-color sushi combo was good if you like red tuna (I'm not a big fan of red tuna). For two people, this was plenty of food for us. I am excited to try other menu items when I visit again. That said, I WILL visit again, perhaps to try their ramen at lunch. The decor is smooth and trendy. Service (on a Monday evening) was very attentive. Koku is a welcomed addition to Armonk.

Yelp
Unfortunately this restaurant is a HIT or MISS experience. As a frequent business traveler to the area, I been there more than 20 times. I absolutely love it, the kobe meatballs and the unagi sushi are awesome. BUT, they must have different Sushimans, as depending on the night I go, it can be great or crappie. Great is a 2+ inches sushi with a tasty rice and nice warm grilled unagi. Crappie is the ONE inch sushis I got served last night (Wed) with a tea spon of rice. Really disappointing, specially as I know they do better.

Yelp
This lace is great if you love sushi. I'm not a fan but I will have hibachi which was good.

Yelp
Really really fresh delicious fish. Was so happy with the sushi and roll quality. Also very impressed with their clean and organized pickup procedure during Covid-19.

Yelp
Excellent Japanese food and service but LOUD. Could barely hear the person next to me let alone those across the table. Would go back but for the noise.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent food, excellent service and friendly staff. What more could someone want? My favorite lunches: sashimi salad; Japanese spicy curry with beef; any of the rolls are great too. Sushi grade and quality is excellent. And I'm picky :)

Yelp
A very comfortable and "cool hangout" Koku provided a somewhat unique take on sushi cuisine. Seated in a spacious relaxing booth in full view of the bar and sushi stations we reviewed the extensive menu and ordered a few special delights. A true early standout was the Tuna Pizza. This item is a must order. Voluptuously prepared this starter is loaded. A toasted tortilla with tuna, guacamole, sour cream, chives, rice caviar, with a spicy mayo. Tastefully done and neatly prepared - The best of its kind I've experienced. Also ordered - The Crispy Calamari which was a bit too crispy. A forgetfully average offering that we've seen too many times before. Under the Signature Rolls we found another winner - The "North Castle" - With Shrimp Tempura, avocado topped with Filet Mignon and Spicy Tuna served with wasabi & spicy eel sauce The combined flavors worked perfectly resulting in a stand alone dish that must be ordered. Also selected "The Christmas". A somewhat refreshing dish - with Lobster Tempura and other assorted ingredients topped with Spicy Crunchy Tuna - but nowhere near the wonderful "North Castle" choice, The fried ice-cream dessert selection was a disappointment. The outside skin was limp and the vanilla ice cream supermarket branded. Pass on this... Service was friendly and attentive - Pleasant music adds to the fusion type atmosphere here.

Yelp
WOW! They know what they are doing here. I am super picky with sushi, and I need a quality sushi. I rather have a divine sushi that is smaller in portion than some crazy fatty oil-drenched deep fried mysterious roll that claims to be sushi. At Koku you might be able to find both, but when it comes to real authentic sushi to comtemporay take on traditional appetizers, they are delicious!!!!! It is owned by 2 gentlemen, the head chef and another guy, and the chef has the true expertise in taking care of fresh fish so that it can be served as delicious, sweet, and plump sashimi and sushi. It is worth sitting at the sushi bar. Not sure if they have OMAKASE, but this would be a place where I would feel comfortable trying OMAKASE.
