"In hope of conveying the feeling of Japanese culture through cuisine, Kokyu reflects scenes of ceremonies throughout the year in its culinary offerings. Appetisers in early spring are garnished with flowers, colourfully expressing the awakening breath of nature. In autumn, appetisers are arranged with taro, chestnuts and soybeans, in the traditional way to pray for a bumper harvest during the harvest moon. Spring water from a well in the restaurant's inner garden is used for dashi soup stock and thin tea. Attentive service warms the body and soul." - Michelin Inspector

Dining here was an incredible experience. We were welcomed with very warm and impeccable service, outstanding cuisine and lovely interactions with the master chef. It was our first ever kaseiki experience and we couldn’t have hoped for a better one. The set course menu was a celebration of winter as we visited in January, and we absolutely loved every dish - we discovered new flavours, fish, wild herbs and vegetables we had never tried before. The chef was so kind in explaining to us the origin and ways of every dish he would bring out, making us feel extremely involved, just as the other Japanese guests at the counter. Thank you so much for this unforgettable experience!

Not very friendly towards foreigners, it would appear, as I was squarely ignored by the waitress when i stepped in to inquire if a table is available for lunch. Lack of reservation notwithstanding, it is unacceptable behaviour towards guests.

流石のミシュラン星付きの日本料理でした!目の前で魚を捌いてくれて、すべてが新鮮であり、繊細な調理をしてくださいます。どこまでもどこまでも美味しい。とにかく美味しい。大将のお人柄もよく、是非、味わっていただきたい日本料理です。 It truly lived up to its Michelin-star reputation! The chef prepared the fish right in front of us, ensuring everything was incredibly fresh and delicately crafted. Every single bite was delicious — endlessly delicious. The chef’s personality was also wonderful. This is a Japanese dining experience you absolutely must try.

出町柳の駅からも迷わず行ける! ランチに訪問。 店内はカウンターだけのこじんまりしたお店。 店主の前田さんの軽いトークを交えながら ライブ感もある会席料理。 デザートは自家製クリームブリュレという風変わりが良いです。 お料理はどれも季節感があり、丁寧なお仕事で 目も心も口も幸せになります。 また、訪問したいです!

和食って良いなあって、感じるお店。 出汁かなんとも優しい。 食材も、素晴らしいけど、味付けが優しく、盛り付けが綺麗。 季節を感じることができるのも、和食ならではでしょうか。 何より、器で楽しめるのも醍醐味。 立体感のある八寸は初めて見ました。ここでも季節を感じられました。 締めの鯛は絶品、鯛茶漬けで2杯目をいただきました。 コマだれが良かった。 (2024/2)
