"Close to the stadium you’ll find this popular neighbourhood bistro, which was previously a grocer’s shop for nearly 80 years. The concise, keenly priced menu includes oysters, cured meats and wholesome Norwegian classics that have been brought up-to-date. There’s a diverse selection of wines by the glass." - Michelin Inspector

Very nice food, service, and location. The meny was full of surprises and loved all that was served. The wine meny was big, but a little complicated to ordere from and missing cava and prosseco. The selection of Italian wine was also limited.

Food is tasty. We had 4 dishes among us ! Tartare was good, parmesan soufflé with bisque (real bisque in aroma & taste) was very good. Then we shared fish and pasta! In my opinion main course is not the right amount, as it costs 3800 NOK per portion). No adequate space between tables . Service is pretty good and they mention what ingrédients have been used .

I had a great time here with my friends. The place is nice, clean and cozy. The service was attentive and very professional. The waiters explained us all the food and the wine we were having. The food was delicious, balanced and full of umami! And the wines paired to the food were very good too. I will come back for sure

Amazing place to eat! The staff is extremely friendly! They explained every detail of the food on the plate. A nice place to hang out. The food is delivious especially the herring and the brownie. Those are a must try! I liked the catch of the day, the oyster and the Chardonnay too!

One of the best restaurants I've been at Oslo so far. The quality and combination of flavours is great. The service was very good. Even though it was full, it has good acustic, you can enjoy a good chat without rising voice. Good variety of wines.

Great food with a menu that changes all the time. Very pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant and a convenient location not too far from the centre of Oslo.

Kolonialen was my favourite restaurant in Oslo two years ago. Now it’s still good but not fantastic place as it was. I really love tartar with buckwheat popcorn, not with corn as it is served now.

Yelp
This restaurant is a must try in Oslo for anyone who loves great food and wine. The ambiance is charming and we chose to eat outside as it was such a pleasant night. The menu changes frequently but I can say everything we had was delicious from start to finish. We began with the oysters (super fresh) with a glass of Charles Heidsieck champagne (they are a house sponsor) . Could not ask for a better beginning. We then had the fish of the day and the pork checks, both delicious and well presented. Dessert was similarly spectacular. Perhaps the most exciting part of the meal was the incredible wine list. From champagne to burgundies, top to bottom, this is an impressive list and fairly priced. Even better, our server (who was delightful) was extremely knowledgeable and steered me off my own selection to an alternative he said was just as good and a better value. In case you are wondering it was an inspired choice. As I said, service was outstanding and the entire staff made you feel like unbelievably welcome. Absolutely, a five star experience and a top choice when in Oslo.

Yelp
Lovely food, enthusiastic service, and we got the corner table that we asked for. Life in the vault is good.

Yelp
I had a great meal here earlier this month. It's a nice little place, and the food is inventive and delicious. All the staff were really nice, even to an out-of-towner like myself. I think the menu changes frequently, but I had beef tartare and a pork neck entree, and I would recommend both, especially the beef, which was made with grilled beef fat and topped with a bright green powder made of pine needles. Out of this world. The prices are similar to what you might pay at a similarly nice restaurant in New York, except taxes aren't added, and you're not expected to tip quite as much as in America, so you wind up paying less than you might expect. If I was a local, I think I'd be there every week.
