I went back and forth between 3 - 4 stars before finally landing on 3 stars and here's why: The Kompose Hotel is the definition of 'you get what you pay for.'
This modern boutique boasts an exceptionally well-designed lodging experience that includes an impressive array of amenities including: a fitness center, sauna, pool, coffee shop, yoga hub, podcast/recording studio, jacuzzi, breakfast, and on-site (gated) parking. Talk about convince right?...That's where it gets tricky.
Each of the services is a la carte, meaning you've got to pay an up-charge in order to experience any of these services. But, the hotel attracts a wide variety of folks because of their alluring price point of less than 90$/night. Meaning you get every spring breaker this side of the Mason-Dixon, every runaway bride, every vacationing newlywed looking for a cheap deal near the beach, families on their way to Disney, and anything in between. So just know that when you book here you could have a drunk man screaming outside of your room for 2 hrs like I did because he forgot what floor his frat bros were are on and/or a pitbull that gets off the leash and starts running around uncontrollably as they also attract a lot of folks as a 'pet-friendly' property.
On the upside, if you get lucky enough, you get to experience this expertly curated hotel at an insanely affordable price point in the heart of Sarasota. You get to create a unique experience that's customized to you/r parties liking and enjoy the waterfall showers available in each room. I wasn't a fan of the cement floors and concert walls as they felt very sterile / Orange is the New Black-ish. Also, as a light sleeper, I was bothered by the noise, which travels better when bouncing off a void and empty space. But, noise and cement aside, if you chose the right day/time I could definitely see the appeal in this new take on hotel living.
ALSO! There was a gal who checked me in-- Abby? /I can't remember her name-- but, she was PHENOMENAL and deserves all the kudos for her patient and kind demeanor. She remained calm and polite while the above-mentioned dog lost its entire mind in the lobby as she tried to check in multiple guests.
