Kona Ice of Houston

Hired the Kona Ice truck for my son's birthday party. The young man working our event had zero personality and did not make an effort to interact with our guests or create a 'fun experience.' He was very quick and all business and wanted to hurry up and finish so he could leave as soon as he served the amount (50 cups) we had reserved. He even told one of my guests that went up to the truck after he served the 50 that he would have to pay for a sno cone. He never acknowledged my son's birthday or wished him a Happy Birthday and my son did not even receive his souvenir birthday cup. When you pay almost $300 for an hour of their time, you expect the 'fun and friendly event experience' that you were promised. Sadly, this fell very short of expectations and in my opinion, was certainly not worth the cost.

I know the event is going to be good when I see the Kona Ice truck. The employees are always very nice and the variety of flavors are delicious! I've seen them at school and church events, and it's always a big hit.

What do you do when you have a huge birthday celebration scheduled in a Houston park in the midst of scorching summer temperatures in the triple digits? Well, I reached out to Kona-Ice of Houston at the last minute and received an immediate response. In a matter of 15 minutes I was booked. The process was so easy and such a relief! I ended up changing the agreed upon number of cups and sizes to accommodate the possible number of non rspv guests and it was not a problem for them at all! On the day of the birthday party, the driver arrived right on time and was such a pleasure to have interacting with my guests! We had guests from the age of 1 year-old to the birthday queen’s age of 93 years old. Don’t worry, this party in the park in the heat was all her idea! That’s why I had to get partnered up with Kona-Ice to help keep the guests cool. Wish you could have seen the pure excitement on the faces of all ages when the brightly colored van pulled up with the birthday queen’s name on it! I was so impressed with the level of service provided to my guests that I provided our driver with a 30% tip! Names evade me, but I think his name was Durrell??? Not sure, but I do remember it started with the letter ‘D’. In summary, I would not hesitate to hiring Kona-Ice again! I almost forgot to mention that they also do fundraisers.

We had VBS for our kids at church. And we were looking for a dessert food truck for the kids. I was a little skeptical due to other reviews. I called and they were super kind and informative from the beginning. They let me know their availability, pricing and answered all my questions. The kids were super happy! They even had tropical music playing out of the truck. It was a hit! Staff serving was friendly and helpful. They gave the kids their shaved ice and the kids were able to put the flavors they wanted on top. Many flavors too choose from. We will definitely use them again for another event.

We had a Kona ice at a carnival fair and it was our first time getting it. Honestly impressed at how good it tastes, and how the ice was crushed so finely. My only complaint is that they ran out of my two favorite flavors: watermelon and blue raspberry

Maniac driver of their KONA 4 truck ran me off the road ! Called their office and guess what NO one cares about safety especially the owner who never bothered to respond to any of my calls or e-mails !!! Truck should have a sign that states watch for crazy drivers !!!

I took my kid to the dentist back to school event, yesterday 8/7/2023. The lady driving the snow cone truck makes her company look so bad. THE LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM, RACISM, AND IGNORANCE this “lady” (i should use another word) displayed yesterday was extremely uncalled for. She aggressively gave some of the kids their snow cone. She would make several rude and racist comments and act like a complete snob. I hope she reads this. I am 100% positive everyone in attendance will agree. Her comments were “I dont know why they send me to Spanish communities” (and yes she made a disturbed face while saying it) told me and several others (with a snobby attitude) that she doesn't speak Spanish so don't talk to her in Spanish. At the end of the day it’s not what you say it’ how you said it. Oh and then she told her boss that she was being held hostage. WHEN CLEARLY THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE WAY FOR HER TO LEAVE. She kept telling ppl that she can not stay because she has another event togo to. She was supposed to be there till 1, and kept trying to leave way before then and telling ppl she can not stay till 1. My insurance company and I will not attend as a Vendor if she specifically shows up again. And yes i will be making a report to the BBB.

Its really good if you do the rainbow they have a kids jungle shake thats amazing 👏
