We stayed here because of a flight delay. There was a note saying that there was an airport shuttle available for $50 but the host wasn’t willing to pick us up. Only drop us off so we ended up renting a car. There was poop all over the toilet and the room was really dusty. The kitchen was dirty and the sheets smelled weird. The host was nice but overall we didn’t have a good experience. The driveway was extremely steep and too sketchy. This is really an Airbnb not a hotel which it was advertised as. We paid like $309 and it’s maybe worth half that.

I wasn't planning on posting any review but the last interaction with this property owner was unpleasant and needs action. She offered to refund some of our payment in return for 5 stars review which make me question all their previous misleading ones. Other disturbing encounter, she kept talking and preaching about her religion which mede me and my family uncomfortable. I would like to send her a public message that our people (unlike hers) do not sell or rent our opinions for any amount of money. It is worth to mention that we booked 4 nights and end up staying only one night (without refund) because of the situation in that house. The room and bed were so small and my son had to spend his night sleeping on a uncomfortable folding COT.

I really didn't like this place it is extremely far from everything on the island, and no night life there, you need to drive 40 minutes to go for dinner or walk. If you want to have vacation, this is the last place I would book. If you want to buy something or book a tour there is noway to book in this place. The lady only wants money money, and that's all that I felt. Go book closer to activity or place you can walk at night. The house has a cliff to get in the taxi driver, and Auber doesn't want to drive to her house. For my family, we really want to feel a vacation, but if you want to stay at someone home, we can't access places. This is where you go.

Recently stayed 9 nights and everything was amazing!! This was my 2nd time booking a stay @ Kona Palace, and it truly is a wonderful place. Location is nice and quiet for a relaxing tropical retreat which is exactly what I needed from my vacation! I enjoy it's nice central location for traveling out to any side of the island for daily activities. And the view from the lanai is breathtaking.!! I will surely be booking again soon, Rebecca is wonderful to work with! A solid 5 stars.

What a special, peaceful place this is. Rebecca went out of her way to make my stay as pleasant as possible, pointing out many nice restaurants close by. My favorite was Shaka Tacoz by far. The grounds of the property are covered with a lush and verdant collection of interesting plants that fascinated me for evening walks in the garden or up the driveway. The driveway is easy to manage once you realize there is a flat spot at the top that allows you to safely enter traffic on the main road. The room I stayed in was pleasantly, though not fancily apportioned, and was more than adequate for my stay, which included working nearby. I love the location, being away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas, though they are close by if you need to access them. I can’t wait to stay here again.

Google
Beautiful, cozy B&B. The views from the Lanai are amazing! Rebecca was nice and made us a fantastic breakfast. Furnishings are beautiful as is all the stained glass that the host makes herself. If you are looking for a place away from the fray, would highly recommend.

Our room and bath was really nice, decorated nice, spacious, very very clean! The view of the ocean and surrounding area from the common space and lanai are absolutely gorgeous!! The b’fast was outstanding, and included a full breakfast with eggs, fresh fruit, bread and jams, avacado, yogurt, juice, coffee. We would definitely stay again!

Beautiful views, great breakfast and Rebecca made it a great stay! We stopped in Kona on our way south. Rebecca was attentive and generous. We enjoyed our visit with her. The breakfast was amazing! We enjoyed our view as we drank fresh squeezed OJ and ate fruits out of the garden. Bed was comfy, the room is lovely and filled with antiques. Great vibe! Super laid back!||We instantly had a connection since I'm a Rebecca too. Would love to visit again. We felt like we made a new friend, while enjoying a great place. Yes the driveway is steep! Made it more fun!

Yelp
Rebecca and Keith were super friendly, helpful, attentive, and interesting. We found the decor, furnishings, and architecture masterful. Fabulous view from the lanai and west-facing bedroom. The included breakfast was ample and tasty. The long, steep, winding driveway can be a challenge to find and navigate if you arrive after dark, despite their helpful signage. The overnight sound of frogs could be bothersome to some people.

Yelp
We stayed for several nights in the King suite. The home is beautiful with hardwood floors, stained glass and whimsical decor. Rebecca is a wonderful hostess, and we enjoyed her delicious breakfasts with fresh squeezed juices. The home is built into the side of a gradual sloping mountain, providing a beautiful view of sunsets over the Kealakekua Bay. We enjoyed swimming and snorkeling there. The property has beautiful tropical flowers, plants and fruit trees.

Yelp
Wonderful hosts, beautiful house with an amazing view. Spent all of my mornings out on the lanai reading and sipping coffee to gaze at the beautiful view of the bay. Spent some nice time in the hot tub, and never really wanted for anything. Rebecca was courteous and provided me and my family with anything we asked for.

Yelp
Don't follow the directions on Google Maps. We did so and ended up down an extremely steep road that led to multiple private residences. We had to go back on the main road and drive a short distance south to find the small signs pointing to another road down to the bed and breakfast. Beware: the road is quite steep and you'll likely bottom out at the top of the road. We arrived early in the afternoon but was told by a gentleman named Keith to come back after 4pm for check in. We had a short stay. Rebecca gave us the room with a king bed because we were the only guests that evening. It's a modest room with basic amenities. The AC is not available until the summer months, but fortunately the room stayed cool thanks to the ceiling fan. We ordered takeout from a nearby restaurant and had dinner on the patio with Rebecca playing some tunes in the background. Expect the house to be very quiet at night except for the sound of coqui frogs. Rebecca made us a delicious breakfast in the morning and we had a pleasant conversation on the patio overlooking the valley and ocean below. The view was absolutely gorgeous! A few notes: I didn't notice any blinds in the bathroom which made it a bit awkward since I could see the neighbor's house from the window. Also, there was no body soap in the shower. Apparently there's even a hot tub somewhere in the house so that's worth inquiring. It's also worth pointing out that after the trip, I realized that we didn't not get the ocean view from our room which we paid for. Also- I'm actually quite upset by this- a lot of things listed on hotels.com turned out to be false Here's the description from hotels.com and our observations: 1. Near the beach (not close at all) 2. Spa tub (Rebecca did not mention this) 3. Air conditioning (not available until the summer months) 4. Library (Rebecca did not mention this) 5. Self-serve laundry (Rebecca did not mention this) 6. Concierge services (nonexistent) 7. Barbecue grills (Rebecca did not mention this) 8. Free bottled water (Rebecca did not give us any upon arrival) 9. Microwave and Refrigerator (Rebecca did not mention this and the kitchen is off limits) 10. Bathrobe (did not find any) In the military you get court-martialed for lying but as a customer I can only point out the facts and warn those coming after me. That said, I will be submitting a complaint to update the information available to customers on hotels.com and hopefully get some justice.

Yelp
Pros: The breakfast was filling and quite a variety. You get fresh, local fruits from the backyard, granola, sausage, quesadillas, yogurt, coffee, fresh juice, and bread. The neighbourhood is quiet, the king bed is comfortable as all get out. The space is clean. There was one flower kimono in our closet, not sure whose it was, but anyway. It's a modest room with limited amenities. Cons: The drive to the place is not an easy one: just so you're aware, it's an extremely steep decline down two separate driveways to the house. Your bathroom and private room are your own, but also simply separated and divided by a curtain that leads to the communal space. We were not told about the jacuzzi, but we were allowed to use the porch to eat our dinner. There's communal space, but you can't use the kitchen. There's AC in your room, but you can't use it unless it's summer(the remotes not included during other months). There wasn't body wash in the shower, I had to use my own, also no blinds in the bathroom. All in all, it's a clean space with an incredible view from the back porch, but rather disappointing that we received so few of the hotels.com amenities listed- no bottled water, no ac, no robes, no microwave, no ocean view from our room, we were not "close" to the beach-- yes, the communal terrace patio view was stunning, but Rebecca (owner) even told us that the beach was quite difficult to get to, and required driving of course-- it's not walkable at all, there was no mention of a library or laundry, like it says on hotels.com.

Yelp
This B&B is remote and hard to access, with extremely steep driveway. A lot of the advertised amenities are not there, e.g. no access to the kitchen. What is not advertised, however, is that you will be sharing the house with the owner, and that the owner will constantly monitor and judge you, making you feel unwelcome. Also no early check ins and late check outs. I happen to have a meeting that I hope I can listen to in the common area around check out time (oh BTW also very poor cell signal due to remote location), the owner Rebecca interrupted me mid call and to kick me off the property at 10 am sharp. I was also told that if I need to sit in the car after check out to use their internet I need to pay. This is downright the rudest hostess I've met anywhere in the world. Captain cook is am amazing area, I would recommend staying somewhere else to save you the headache.

Yelp
This is not a hotel but a bed and breakfast. Many amenities listed are only available I one room. There are no kitchen facilities for general use so no early morning coffee. It is off the beaten path and has an extremely steep almost dangerous driveway. What we got was only a room in someone's house. It is not good value for the money as we could have stayed at a resort in Kona for the same price

Yelp
I am baffled as to why the Kona Palace has a 5 star rating. Our 1st time to the Big Island, May 2019. We chose the Kona Palace base on the many online descriptions as well as these reviews on Yelp. We were especially please with all the amenities provided; groomed private setting, free continental breakfast, and the hope to cook in rather than eat out none of which were the case. I spoke with Rebecca on the phone complaining about the filth and how I had to clean it was that dirty. She never addressed any of my concerns but had the nerve to ask for a 5 star rating. Really? She's getting a 1 based on the condition of the unit and not providing a continental breakfast as promised. Now that I've had time to reflect, I believe 1 star is too generous. The unit was filthy. Floors throughout covered in dirt, dustballs and hair so the 'house rules' to remove shoes before entering was completely out of the question. Toilet had dried urine dribble on the seat and so did the floor in front of the commode. Crumbs and sticky gunk littered the kitchenette countertop making it completely uninviting for meal prep. Dirty, used bar of soap on the bathroom sink and a matching one in the tub, seriously? Use a stranger's dirty bar of soap? Tooth paste splatters were all over the glass shelf above the bathroom sink and on the wall. A filthy mop and broom tucked behind the bathroom door. Vacuum propped up against the dorm-size refrigerator. Cleaning spray bottles and supplies were scattered about on countertops and in the shower stall. It was as if the cleaning crew were gearing up to start the job but were called away and never returned. BBQ grill was something we had hoped to use but hardly would consider, it was so grimy dirty. Patio chairs adorn with dirty stained cushions, the table top lacked a good scrubbing. For that matter the entire patio could have used a power wash or least a sweeping. Although I drew the line not to tackle the layers dust on furniture and decor, I did manage to cleaned the interior of the entire unit just to feel comfortable. There was no way I was about to take on the patio, outdoor furniture, or grill on my vacation to comfortably enjoy the view. Needless to say I wasn't happy about the time imposed to clean your place when I should have been enjoying my Hawaiian vacation. The cherry on top? Guests are expected to strip the bed upon leaving...? There are no words to describe how disgusted I felt when I saw the condition of the two bed pillows we were using. To think we laid our heads on those nasty things was just appalling. I'm not one to hold back on accolades. I have given plenty of 5 star reviews and raving comments to those deserving but there's a huge difference between establishments and hosts that takes pride in their business and holds a great appreciation for paying guests from those only in it for the money and feel burdened by any of the responsibilities attached. The greatest reward to those honest and willing to fulfill their obligations with pride is the blessing of repeat business and those that don't are lucky to receive 1 star. I would no more recommend stay there to family or friends and certainly not strangers either. BUYER BEWARE.

Yelp
We brought our grandchildren here for five nights. We stayed in the lower room in back, with a majestic view of the land and ocean. The driveway is  steep, but manageable. More importantly, it's conveniently located to great parks, snorkeling and a sweet downtown that gives you a feel of relaxed Hawaii.  Our room included a kitchen area that was well stocked with utensils and dishes. It was clean, comfortable and had a homey feel. Rebecca was easily accessed by phone and email. She couldn't have been more helpful. We loved our stay. I can easily imagine returning again and again
