"This traditional inn situated in the small village of Pupnat, about 10km from Korčula, is run by a friendly and welcoming family. The menu features charcuterie produced by the family, goat’s cheese matured on site, home-grown vegetables and local wine and olive oil. One of the most delicious dishes is the home-made ravioli with goat’s cheese and sage sauce. The covered terrace is particularly attractive with its solid wood tables and lighting provided by lanterns." - Michelin Inspector

4 Bib Gourmand Restaurants to Visit in Croatia

"It's well worth heading a few miles into the island's interior to eat at this charming family tavern where the owners not only raise goats and chickens but also grow the vegetables used in their dishes. The whole family works hard to create the simple, yet delicious food served here. Specialities include ravioli stuffed with a creamy goat sauce and braised lamb with peas and potatoes." - The MICHELIN Guide

Absolutely impressed from the starters to the dessert, and everything in between. Especially recommend mixed starters (težaška plitica) - it is a true food poetry, all the tastes of Dalmacija in one plate. The vibe feels like home, it has a nice garden and the waitress is warm and friendly, always there to help. Would love to come back next time we are here.

Fantastic experience!! In summer you should book 3-5 days in advance. The food is absolutely delicious, creative and seasonal. Figs with goat cheese and bacon to start. Makaruni as a main + gnocchi with tuna. The flavor of the shrimp ones is great but they are tedious to clean as they are small. The meat ones were perfect. Delicious verbena sorbetto for desert. Top top

A restaurant that has retained everything that makes it unique and one of the best in Croatia. First and foremost, the quality of ingredients they use to prepare excellent dishes gives both domestic and foreign guests the authentic atmosphere of the very island it's located on – through scents, colors, appearance, taste, and the feeling after the meal. Even back in 2019 when we first visited here, we felt exactly what's described above. Furthermore, the service is fantastic – smiling, unobtrusive, and makes you feel as if you're the only guests in the restaurant, regardless of it being completely full. We tried baked figs with soft goat cheese wrapped in thin pancetta, and that's just what we remembered, though the flavor probably holds much more. Homemade pasta with almonds, lamb with peas, anchovies, several types of excellent cheese, and finally lavender sorbet – a unique refreshing taste, homemade pralines, and a typical caramel custard. And of course, excellent Pošip wine! Well done! We'll definitely be back!🥰

Our visit to Konoba Mate in Pupnat was a memorable part of our trip to Korčula. Upon arrival, we appreciated the pleasant outdoor patio with its rustic stone walls, which created a nice atmosphere. The food was excellent. We had the traditional Pasticada with macaroni, which was very delicious and a dish we will remember. The ravioli with goat cheese was also very good. As someone from Poland, a country known for its dumplings, I can say these ravioli were well-prepared and satisfying. To complement our meal, we enjoyed the local Plavac wine, which was excellent and paired well with the dishes. The dessert, a white chocolate mousse with bay leaf, was a pleasant surprise. It was delicious, and it was interesting to discover how well bay leaf worked in a dessert. It provided a delightful end to our meal. The staff were very nice and attentive. Our dog was welcome, and the staff even provided water and a cheese snack, which was a thoughtful gesture. Konoba Mate offers a very good dining experience with excellent food, good wine, a pleasant setting, and hospitable service. We highly recommend it.

It’s not surprising that Konoba Mate is on the Michelin list as their food is excellent and their family service continues. We were served by the owners daughter and really enjoyed our experience. The almond pesto pasta was delicious as was their traditional meat dish. The restaurant, in a small town, also feels like a great find outside of the hustle and bustle.

Konoba Mate offers a cozy and beautiful outdoor dining experience, perfect for a summer night out with your family or a romantic date night. Each dish is presented beautifully and tastes even better than it looks. The service is top notch, warm, friendly, and inviting. The pasticada with macaroni features their homemade pasta with tender and perfectly seasoned meat and my personally favorite, the prawns with macaroni has a creamy, savory sauce with perfectly cooked prawns. The bread is fresh and pairs perfectly with the salted and marinated sardines, fresh cheeses, and kumquat jam. Save room for dessert!
