Kopan Sushi is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the vibe is welcoming and modern, with a clean, minimalist aesthetic that lets the food shine. The sushi is incredibly fresh! every bite melts in your mouth. I highly recommend their Omakase selection if you’re looking to be impressed. Service is attentive and friendly, and the chefs clearly take pride in their craft. Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or just diving into Japanese cuisine, Kopan delivers quality and creativity with every plate. It’s easily become one of my go-to sushi spots!

I recently dined at Kopan Sushi in Garden Grove and the food and quality of fish was outstanding. My wife and I love eating sushi and we’ve been to quite a few spots in OC. This spot was definitely one of the better ones we’ve been to. You know it’s good when the sushi counter is right up front and the sushi chef greets you immediately upon entering. We had a great meal one here and would definitely come back!

After exhausting most of the food spots in Irvine, I recently stumbled upon this cozy little tavern in Garden Grove — and wow, it’s a game-changer. At this price point, I haven’t found another place that matches its plating or food quality. The menu is impressively diverse, the ambiance is warm and intimate, and best of all, they’re open until 11 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. For Irvine folks who constantly struggle to find decent late-night bites, this place is a blessing. Whether you’re swinging by after work for a quick, comforting bowl of curry or unagi don, meeting up with friends for some bar bites and drinks, or coming specifically to enjoy the chef’s choice sashimi — this spot has you covered. My personal favorite is the Hotate Crudo: a giant scallop as the base, topped with rich, fatty tuna belly, a perfectly balanced house-made sauce to cut through the richness, and a tiny dollop of caviar to bring out the flavors. It’s beautifully composed and seriously addictive. The Salmon Don and Unagi Don are both incredibly hearty. For dishes that are just over ten bucks, the presentation is stunning — you can really tell the chef puts heart into the plating. Since we had a group, we also ordered the Chef’s Choice Sashimi and Sushi. The portions were generous, the fish was fresh, and the chef even came over to introduce each type of fish — super friendly and passionate. I especially liked the yuzu-seasoned black sea bream, which had a great texture and citrusy balance. Don’t skip the sweet fruit sake! The pineapple and plum flavors were both refreshing and light — we’re already planning to hunt them down at the supermarket. There’s also a daily specials board by the entrance and some solid lunch deals worth checking out.

Stopped by Kopan Sushi & Ramen after visiting the Crystal Cathedral — it was so hot, I went for the Yuzu Miso Black Snapper Crudo and Japanese cold noodles, super refreshing. I always get sweet shrimp and uni sushi, and this time tried the chef’s recommendation, the Ginza sushi platter — fresh and looks great. The Unagi Donburi (eel rice bowl) was amazing too, tender eel with avocado and fish roe, really tasty. They also have a deal where the second sushi roll is half off, which is pretty awesome. The place is open late on weekends, perfect for a chill late-night bite. Definitely coming back!

Just finished a heavy workout and came straight here without even changing. Absolutely hit the spot! The tonkotsu ramen was rich and comforting, the crispy rice with spicy tuna was super flavorful, and their hot stone beef sizzled beautifully. I brought my mom who doesn’t eat raw fish, and she loved the veggie ramen and grilled items. The vibe here is cozy and very Japanese izakaya-style. Perfect for dinner or late-night cravings. Definitely coming back!

We had a great lunch at Kopan in Garden Grove. The service was friendly and fast. We ordered a mix of ramen and sushi. The Tonkotsu Ramen with Chashu was rich and flavorful. Yellowtail Jalapeño had a perfect spicy kick, and the Okinawa Sashimi was super fresh. The Mango Lover Roll was a delicious surprise — sweet, creamy, and balanced. Takoyaki and Ginza Sushi were also solid.

I had a really great time today! The service was exceptional. We were served by Mia and Joanne. Mia helped us navigate their big menu, and offered lots of suggestions. She told us she just started, so we were so surprised by her GREAT service! 10/10 experience, thanks Mia and Joanne!

Yelp
Great sushi and the ambience is amazing. Ann was our server and she was fantastic, friendly and we will definitely come back to enjoy again.

Yelp
The ex girl friend roll and scallop rolls were delicious. We asked for extra sauce and ginger to go and they loaded it up. The interior ambiance is a nice dark moody vibe and seems like it would be a really fun night time drinking spot. Would return again in the future

Yelp
My gf and I stopped by here around 8pm on a Thursday night. It was busy but we were seated quickly. They had happy hour but their happy menu changed I think? Because it was limited to certain items vs the previous "half off." We got a few things to share and try: Jessica albacore- spicy and yummy! Tonkatsu ramen- tried it with chicken instead of pork. Pretty good! We got mild and chili on the side so it wasn't spicy, just a little kick. Crispy rice with spicy tuna- pretty good! And the amount of tuna and rice was perfect!

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night and there was no wait at all. When you step in, you feel like you're transported to Japan. The decor and ambiance of this restaurant was amazing! I ordered the Kara miso ramen, crunchy roll and the king salmon roll. The sushi was all so good and fresh, I highly recommend ordering some when you are here. My fiance ordered the ribeye sukiyaki and he loved it. He enjoyed how clean and sweet the broth was and it came with a lot of veggies, mushroom, and meat. They also have happy hour everyday from 8pm-close. Big big shoutout to our server, Kenny! He was the nicest and most attentive server I've ever had. He was seriously amazing. He let our group know that happy hour was starting soon and that he'd honor the happy hour price for some of the foods we ordered. Thank you for being an amazing server!

Yelp
I haven't been to this place in years so finally came here after being indecisive about wanting ramen or sushi, but here you can get the best of both worlds! 'Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna': good appetizer to start with, had a nice little kick, and the rice stayed crispy/didn't get soggy quick. Can't go wrong with this! 'Tonkotsu Ramen': comes with pork chasu slices, egg, and corn. The broth was on the lighter side for a tonkotsu ramen, I usually prefer something richer and thicker, but it was still good! And they use thin ramen here. 'Kara Miso Ramen': I felt like this broth was more flavorful, and it had just the right amount of spice to it as well. Went during dinner and I overall liked the ambiance of this place and the dark setting. The wait for the food wasn't too bad and the service was good here too.

Yelp
Parking: small plaza, plenty of parking Service: 5/5! Servers were very attentive and frequently checked in on us. Great experience there Atmosphere: 5/5 Unique decor around the restaurant. Good place to eat/catch up with friends! Food: 4/5 - I can only review on behalf of takoyaki & tonkotsu ramen. Takoyaki was hot and lightly crispy, big pieces of octopus inside too which was great. No complaints there! :) Tonkotsu ramen was decent, wish they used thicker noodles. Also was expecting a richer flavor but it was still good nonetheless! Overall, would come back to try again. I like the restaurant's decor, it makes for a good place to have dinner and catch up w friends

Yelp
Came back to Kopan to try their new menu and i was pleasantly surprise the food is so much better. Service is on point and helpful. Ambiance is clean and we came in right before the dinner time rush.

Yelp
This is probably the 4th Kopan location I've been to, and I'm always pleasantly surprised at how consistent the culinary execution and freshness of their dishes are! We came during late night happy hour and were able to try quite a bit of their discounted menu, which brought our total bill of 5 dishes + 2 sakes to less than $100 dollars (truly such a steal in this economy)! I personally always order something from their sushi menu, as their fish is consistently some of the FRESHEST that I've had in LA. Their menu also has an extensive selection of curry/rice dishes, soups, and ramen, which is nice if you're not craving raw fish. Service at this location was also very outgoing and friendly, and the interior is very spacious and tastefully decorated like a traditional Japanese izakaya. Highly recommend checking out this little gem for high quality sushi if you're in the Garden Grove area! Featured here: Ribeye sukiyaki Chirashi bento * Jalapeño yellowtail * Crispy rice with spicy tuna * Unagi donburi

Yelp
Friendly service ! Kind sushi chefs. Also one of the waiters kept checking up on you and really added to the late night happy hour experience. For happy hour, they had certain sushi, appetizers, donburi, and hot pot discounted from their usual price. From the happy hour menu, tried sesame chicken (crispy chicken thigh meat that comes with lemon and sweet / sour sauce), mango salmon special (salmon wrapped around mango and imitation crab with a yuzu sauce), and salmon sushi. Was still hungry after this so tried their buy one get one 50% off promo for their special rolls. Ordered Alaska roll and oyako salmon roll. TBH came here originally just because I was curious about the HH but for the price (total for all of this was $50-60 with tax tip), especially if you're hungry, probably better to get AYCE. Ambiance was relaxed with chill hits playing in the background.

Yelp
Service was REALLY friendly and the food itself was quite nice. I think this is one of the best ramens I've had in recent times. I also really enjoyed the interior design it's very authentic and intimate!

Yelp
Such a cozy place, Ramens super good, the Sushis amazing. We ordered Kara miso ramen, volcano roll, Bake salmon roll , Okinawa Sashimi, spicy garlic edamame . Everything tasted excellent. Fresh and delicious options and a buy one get one 50% on a big portion of the menu. The price was right. Servers are always friendly and accommodating. Love this place !

Yelp
Got sat very quickly, the restaurant is very dim at night but the interior is decorated very nicely. We got the mayu ramen and miso ramen. The miso ramen was a bit spicy but not overwhelming. The mayu ramen felt like it needed more flavor, maybe more salt. I was a bit sad that the charsiu was cut super thin, I'm use to it being cut thicker in other restaurants. Takoyaki was super good, can't go wrong. Overall, great atmosphere and service, a great date spot!

Jeanette K.

Yelp
This is my new favorite sushi spot! Took my boyfriend here for his birthday and it was a great experience! The service was phenomenal! Our server Kenny was the best! He had help too and the whole team worked together perfectly. The food was super fresh, the prices were great, and the atmosphere is so cool! They have happy hour after 8pm every day. The quality of this restaurant is worth every penny. Recommend to anyone!! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Yelp
Kopan is one of the closest spots to where I live and it has always hit the spot. Their black ramen is decadent, rich in flavor, and well balanced. The portions are great, the noodles are chewy and textured, and the service is good! I have nothing to complain about this joint and it's been a staple in Little Seoul for years now.

Thomas V.

Yelp
The outside is very unassuming, but the minute you open the door you're greeted by the sushi chef and staff, and you're transported to Japan! The decor and ambiance is awesome. We ordered the sushi and sashimi and the fish was so fresh and delicious. I've been to quite a few sushi spots in Garden Grove and this one definitely is one of the best. Worth a visit for sure!

Erika G.

Yelp
Best ramen place ever. The ambiance was so calming and private seating high quality food and staff was quite nice. Food came out at a fast time too. In the outside you wouldn't expect how cozy it is, definitely a cute date spot.
google avatar

Sophia B.

Yelp
This is a cute little spot in the corner of the plaza. The rolls are beautiful and different. I liked the refreshing rolls. The tonkotsu ramen was beautiful as well but lacked flavor. I don't know how the other ramen bowls would compare, but I would stick with the rolls!
google avatar

Kara M.

Yelp
Delicious sushi in a cute setting! Our server Kenny was great and attentive. We came here towards the end of the night and did not feel rushed whatsoever. We got the negitoro donburi with uni and scallop crudo, along with a blue crab roll and various pieces of nigiri- sweet shrimp, salmon, hamachi belly, and scallops. So freakingggg goood. Will be frequenting this location from now on! It's so close by!
google avatar

Melissa R.

Yelp
Kopan Ramen has always been my favorite Ramen place! The ramen is so flavorful especially when you add their hot sauce for extra spice! I usually eat at the restaurant but decided to order take out instead. The restaurant is always clean and the waiters attend you immediately! The chicken cutlet ramen is always the way to go!
google avatar

Candace B.

Yelp
Really great service and delicious food! Atmosphere is as authentic. Lots of little touches that elevated the experience and eating pleasure. I can't say enough about how glad I am we stopped. That was an incredible meal. Just yummy!

Yelp
Be very careful with this restaurant, most especially with online ordering --the staff, especially the manager, is all after the sale and are very unsympathetic and unhelpful to their customers. I ordered 2 bowls of ramen on their website and the site directed me to several online delivery apps for processing. Since I have a Door Dash account, I opted to order through it. I was very surprised when I arrived at the restaurant and saw two sets of my order. Door Dash had a system glitch and processed two orders - and for some reason, charged two credit cards. What made the matter worse was that the erroneous order was charged on our Revenue Director's credit card whom I hardly know, and who is based in our Chicago office. We used her card when our office had a food delivery for lunch some weeks ago. With that, my top priority was to process the refund right away. This restaurant manager (who refused to give his name) refused to help - gave me all sorts of ridiculous reasons as to why he cannot process the refund. "You can try calling Door Dash but we cannot guarantee." I wanted their assurance that if I do walk away without the food, and cannot get a refund from Door Dash, they will at least give me a restaurant credit for what I paid for, because I know that eventually, they will get paid by Door Dash. This (silly) manager said they only prepare the food, the money never goes to them. I argued that it does not matter where the money is - since I paid for the food, I should at least be able to use it in the future. When he realized, after 20 long minutes of talking to him, that I would not go away, he finally took his phone and called Door Dash. He had the number all along! And he knew the exact process on how to get a refund! I realized he stalled me because he thought I would relent and just take the order. (I would have done so if it was charged on my card. The order was on my Director's card and I have to process the refund ASAP and at the same time get an assurance that if I leave there without the food, and end up not getting refunded, I would still get a restaurant credit. But this restaurant did everything they could to keep their sale and not help at all, I reached the point where it was all about the principle and not even about the money anymore) Door Dash processed the refund in less than 3 minutes (three minutes!) but since the restaurant was the caller, they could only email the refund confirmation to them. I lost it when the manager refused to forward the email confirmation to me. I was polite all throughout this craziness, but I lost it when he said "I make impossible requests." A restaurant credit and an email, apparently, are impossible requests for them. I left the place very upset (and very hungry : ) The ramen wasn't even that good -- I certainly can get something like it somewhere else hassle-free. Be careful with your transactions with this company, most especially online orders.

Yelp
The vibe in here does not disappoint nor does the fresh taste of the delicious food. The solo waiter did the best he could though it took long for the food to be served. Once the food arrived it was well worth the wait. Everything was delicious. We ordered a starter, beverage, sushi and a roll. The toro was transcendent.
google avatar

Yelp
The best sushi in town. Always fresh and delicious. The young men that work here are fantastic. Very knowledgeable and always recommend something new. And this place is so cute and cool! It looks and feels like I'm in another part of the world! I've been coming here for about two years now. And definitely coming back for ever...
google avatar

Xenia A.

Yelp
We've been here a couple times and the food always satisfies. Service is always great as well. Whether you want sushi or ramen, both options are delicious. I particularly enjoy the sushi though and always enjoy anything with soft-shell crab and tuna. Def will be back when we got the hankering for sushi!
google avatar

Jenina M.

Yelp
My family and I have visited 2 different locations of this restaurant. Both locations were beautifully decorated. The menu was extensive and the food was delicious. I loved the variety of sushi and ramen options. I got the sushi plate and my mom ordered the 2 item bento. Everything was so, so, so yummy! The servers were nice but we often needed to flag them down to tell them what we needed (water refills, napkins, the bill, etc.).

Chantal S.

Yelp
I think this place has good quality sushi. They also had different types of wasabi, including the fresh wasabi relish. The Uni was fresh and not brinnie. The fish were seasoned perfectly for dishes paid great attention to flavoring and detail. Presentation was beautiful. Will definitely go back again for a date night.
google avatar

Yelp
Food is quality even the happy hour menu, service is quick and staff are friendly, ambiance is very cozy giving a downtown Tokyo vibes. They are very accommodating for any celebration including bringing in a cake for a birthday celebration!
google avatar

Yelp
The service is always quick and the food is always AMAZING! My favorite sushi and Ramen place!
google avatar

Kathie H.

Yelp
They changed their menu recently. My boyfriend and I frequent this place often and would do their bento lunch deal, but with the change in menu we might not come back as much. It's a little too pricey for $2 each deluxe choice. Aside from their prices, the food and service is great! Shout out to Peter for the great service, he was very attentive and always on top of everything.

Sarah A.

Yelp
This place has delicious and top quality ramen! Besides the food the service is amazing. The female hostess at the front is the sweetest ! This made my day
google avatar

Yelp
tight space but I guess its typical with ramen places so i don't mind. friendly staff and parking wasn't bad. the chashu pork was juicy and we loved the ramen

Yelp
Food was great, the decor was amazing, and the food was very delectable and the service was amazing and plus the servers were very friendly

Yelp
Great small place and good service and food, definitely will return. Best to make reservations cause they can become busy at time.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now as it's near our home. This place caught my eye when we ate next door at one of our favorite Vietnamese restaurants. We came on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised that they had quite a few customers plus some people waiting. The hostess/waitress was fast however with seating us. I loved their decorum and ambient lighting with a Japanese theme which is fitting for the Japanese restaurant. The restaurant has regular booth seating, table seating and also bar seating which is convenient. Now to the food, I loved that they had a deal, "buy one, get one 50% off roll", definitely a great deal for date night. (: We ordered one fresh salmon roll and the hubby had the super crunchy roll. Salmon was super soft and definitely fresh, however, I didn't care too much for the onions they added to it. I think the onions were more just for presentation, but I could have done without it. As for the super crunchy roll, the shrimp was a bit over cooked in my opinion and I wasn't too impressed with the texture. Hence, one star dock for food. Overall, the attentiveness and quickness of service was great. The price point was fair and I hope they continue to keep deals on the menus so that we can do another date night here. I told my husband we have to come back and try their ramen, most like during the cooler months. Thank you Kopan for the hospitality!

Yelp
I'm working at a restaurant as a sushi chef, my friend and I had a sushi at Kopan today night ,we had some sushi and toro , we had otro which is not falling apart not fresh I ve never served like that fish in my life ,ramen is okay , huge disappointment never come back

Yelp
The Protein Roll at Kopan Sushi is typically designed for those looking to boost their protein intake while enjoying sushi. Service is kind of slow.
google avatar

Valorie S.

Yelp
My family and I decided to try this place for my birthday and we were not disappointed! The food (portion and quality) was great for its price, and the service was friendly and on top of things. The atmosphere was also really nice since it was empty (Wednesday noon) and the decor caught our eye. I suggested this place after seeing it on Yelp for the ambience and food, and we left more than happy with our choice.
google avatar

Jeff Y.

Yelp
We parked in this plaza for a event nearby and decided to have lunch too since the parking lot was for customers only. As there were only two savory restaurant options, we chose Kopan Sushi and Ramen. The interior was very pretty with lots of wood, very Japanese. It was not a very big restaurant but was cozy. Service was very friendly and attentive the whole time. The menu was large, and for a place with ramen in the name, the menu was 90% sushi with two pages of non-sushi at the end. xP We opted for the tonkotsu ramen and pork katsu curry hot stone pot. The tonkotsu broth was flavorful, but the ramen noodles thinner and less chewy than I expected. Some of the toppings were also a bit cold. The pork katsu was crispy and curry was not bad, plus I loved how the stone pot kept the curry and rice piping hot for the whole meal. Overall, food was decent though not cheap. Solid restaurant.

Carson R.

Yelp
The ambiance of this place is beautiful, and the bento boxes are more than worth the price!

Loredana M.

Yelp
Great place, always fresh . When I fell like sushi this is my stop. Friendly service and fast . Ambiance is cool and clean.

Yelp
We went to Kopan for dinner on a Friday night. They were able to seat us right away at 6 pm. Very cute ambiance! We were so excited to try it because we love sushi. They have a buy one, get one 50% off deal. We had the king salmon roll and the Tokyo roll. Both had way tooo much sauce. We had the Ginza sushi board. Unfortunately, the sushi wasn't delicious. It wasn't buttery and didn't have much taste.
google avatar

Allison P.

Yelp
The ramen was just alright. Not bad, but definitely not great. Dropped by one night after a long day and opted for the Kara Miso Ramen. I didn't have high expectations, but was pleasantly surprised by the broth and noodle texture! The broth had a nice depth to it. Overall very nice flavors, but a tad salty for my taste. The noodles were cooked just right, with a springy texture. Where it fell short was the meat. The cuts definitely weren't of the best quality and they were cold compared to the rest of the warm bowl (I could also say this about a lot of the other toppings as well...).
google avatar

Larry L.

Yelp
Today was my first time at Kopan. I came with a group for a Christmas lunch... The food was delicious. Many in the group had the ramen and they said it was delicious. I had sushi and it was very good. The best item for me was the octopus balls. The service was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
I usually go to the Kopan in Encino, I tried this one in Garden Grive it was delicious and the service was good as well.
