We visited Kopi Tiam by Chandys for the very first time after hearing so many good reviews, so we were genuinely excited to try their Malaysian dishes.
We ordered the Penang Prawn Mee, the broth was decent, prawns were okay, and I requested it spicy. Sambal was served on the side, but for me it wasn’t quite spicy enough, it could definitely be bolder.
My husband had the Hainanese Ayam Panggang. The chicken itself was well roasted with a nice color and tenderness. However, the rice could use more aroma and perhaps more stock to really elevate the dish.
The highlight for us was definitely the Char Koay Teow, absolutely tasty, we both loved it. And of course, we ended the meal with Teh Tarik, which is always a must for me at any Kopi Tiam.
Overall, we had a good experience and felt it was value for money. Some dishes could still be improved, especially the Hainanese Ayam Panggang and the sambal. Hopefully, they’ll also expand the space soon because it’s always busy, thankfully, we managed to get a small table near the door while most tables were occupied.
