Kora by Tom Kitchin

"Named after the Greek goddess of Spring, this bright and colourful neighbourhood restaurant is set in the buzzy Bruntsfield area on the south side of Edinburgh. The menu follows a nature-to-plate ethos, offering simply presented, reimagined brassiere classics, which are inspired by the seasons. The well-drilled, friendly team help create an enjoyable dining experience." - Michelin Inspector

We had a wonderful evening celebrating twins' birthdays at this restaurant. We began with fresh oysters, the scallops (which were irresistible after seeing photos), and the fried broccoli (which we could have skipped). For our main courses, we highly recommend the vegetarian fregola pasta—it's a must-try! The trout and cod were good, but not exceptional. However, the pork fillet was tender and juicy. Overall, we loved our experience and definitely recommend the pasta and scallops!

Went here as 2 familes, each with one young child. Kids menu with good options; son had chicken tenders and he loved them. Highchairs available. Atmosphere of the restaurant feels upscale but with a homey feel. I loved it. But it wasn't "Too fancy" and you could be dressed any way and fit in. Service was ok - felt a bit abandoned at the beginning as our waitress took a long time to come and take our drink order and then food order. Drinks were pricey but delicious. Food was quite good all around! But the caesar salad with my wagyu beef had anchovies on it and I just couldn't eat it... but the beef was delicious! Everyone else enjoyed their meals a lot. I think with more attentive staff that this could have been 5stars all around. Do try!

While on the slightly more expensive side, this restaurant sells impeccable food. It has an extensive menu and also offers some Scottish cuisine (the haggis, neeps and tatties are exquisite). You get what you pay for in hospitality: the service, ambience of the restaurant itself and the quality and flavours of the dishes are representative of fhe best Scotland has to offer, and well worth the price. We treated ourselves to a nice bottle of Champagne and I was blown away at how refreshing and tasty it was. The staff were very attentive. We were a late booking, and even though we stayed well past closing time, we never felt rushed once. It was a truly special evening and I would 100% return here again. This is great for celebration events or if you are hosting family and friends and want to treat them.

Fantastic waitstaff. Very attentive. We came here for lunch in early January. The cod was flavorful and I enjoyed the puréed peas. The tortellini in the pumpkin 🎃 was innovative and carefully designed. It was very flavorful! The ice tea and also mint tea were fantastic too. Get the donuts for dessert! Estimate 60L per person.

Was very disappointed with KORA. Staff at the front desk greeted us and were pleasant. However, the server we had wasn't very attentive, and the service was very slow. In total, our bill came too £198.58. £67.75 on drinks and £108.75 on food with £22.08 Gratuity added to the bill. We had two bottles of sparkling water at £5 each 2 cocktails and a bottle of red wine. The cocktails were poor for the price and lacked alcohol, and the red wine cost £31.75 which you can probably buy for under £10 it was really poor quality. The food was all under seasoned and was just very under whelming as you would expect better from a restaurant associated with Tom Kitchin. Wont be returning much better places around for the money.

Food beautifully presented, service fabulous, surroundings attractive. The service was lovely. Natural, friendly, sweet and efficient. The food looked very pretty but wasn't that exciting. It didn't compare well to other restaurants in the area, like Fin and Grape or Three Birds. I had the Kora chicken, which I really enjoyed, but then unfortunately the meal stopped being so impressive. The mushroom tortellini was under-seasoned and didn't really taste of much. Then the doughnuts which I'd seen being served to someone else, looked incredible but weren't that exciting (somehow!). It was all fine and perfectly nice, but definitely not as delicious as I'd hoped.

A first time eater in Kora and it definitely did not disappoint. The concept of nature to plate really resonates with me and I was extremely impressed by the dishes on the menu. Tom is known for always using local, seasonal produce so I was really excited to finally be in one of his restaurants. The pea soup as a starter was extremely good, very light but a good portion. I had the monkfish for the main and it was paired so perfectly with the other seafood elements of the dish. I had a floating island for dessert which was equally delicious. A great place for a special occasion, I’ll definitely be coming back.

Everything is so good and delicious, especially love the broccoli tempura as starter! The scallop is also a must try, very fresh, indeed. Of course, the dessert is to die for! The atmosphere is very nice and the staffs are very attentive!
