Except for the ganga smoke wafting around, very pleasant visit. People eat in their cars mostly, take a quick spin around the grounds or play hoops... Which is quite a wonderful location to do so... Unless you stink. That outdoor breeze is strong.

Beautiful views. Hill + beach view combined. Clear view of Catalina Island, port of LA, and much of the long beach/Huntington/Laguna Beach. No fee to park or fight for parking. Sits on a wide park where there was a basketball court and an ice cream truck came by too. Lots of people flying kites, picnics, and sightseeing. Would absolutely go again.

One of the most beautiful places I’ve seen in the US. There’s a nearby dog park, a basketball court where kids come to play, and it’s a lovely spot for reading. And of course, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets.

Very serene with a beautiful view of the ocean. There is plenty of flat grass around perfect for a picnic. I think I even saw a basketball court.

Really enjoyed my visit to the Korean Friendship Bell, dating back to 1976. It's a beautiful piece of Korean architecture and huge bell dedicated to this scenic spit overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Free parking and a visitor centre, but that was closed the Sunday I visited. A great spot to take in the view with a picnic.

Gorgeous views. Plenty of parking. Lord of people coming and going but never feels busy or packed. Ice cream truck stopped by while we were here which was a nice perk for the kids.

The place is very scenic with 360 degree view of ocean in three sides. On a clear sky day looks amazing. Small parks nearby for picnic and child friendly. Parking is easy and free. Must visit place in Long Beach if you like ocean view and sceneries.

The good: I can't believe it took me so long to explore this place. The building where the bell is held is beautifully ornate with intricate paintings. It was really cool to see the colorful wood beams and the giant bell. It is very spacious and the view of the horizon, palm trees, mountain, sea and glistening sun on the water was cinematic and felt like a movie/music video. I even liked the curvature of the cement basketball hoops. I loved that the playground there for kids also had the pagoda-like curves and the green roof to match the Korean theme. The totem poles were cute too. The. grassy area is great for picnics. The open space and wind (because it's so open to the sea) is great for flying kites. The playground had 2 picnic tables. I like that the playground doesn't have sand/dirt/tanbark. It is the cushioned flooring. The bad: I heard it can often get pretty windy here. The two picnic tables at the playground have no shade. The musical instruments at the playground are missing the drum sticks. The interesting: There are signs that say no dogs off leash but I definitely saw a ton of off leash dogs (I don't mind though). Skateboards are not allowed. Bonfires are not allowed. Feeding the birds are not allowed (there were a few crows there). The bell is massive.

I've been wanting to come here ever since I saw this in a movie, but it's too far of a drive from home. Recently, I got off a cruise ship and was about 12 minutes away so I took a detour here before heading home. There's plenty of parking next to the open field, with a walking path leads to the structure that houses the large bell. It's perched on top of a hill, so you'll see a nice view of the surrounding landscape. Even cargo cranes at the port look nice from a distance. It was very peaceful and tranquil when we went. There were only a few people with kids or walking their dogs. Although there wasn't much else to do, it was still nice to take in the view, and take pictures of the bell structure. Would I go back again if I'm nearby? Yes! I just hope it will be another nice clear day.

The Korean Friendship Bell was a landmark that we wanted to check out for some time now. My wife and I came on an early weekend morning to check it out. The drive to the bell takes you through residential roads. Once we arrived, there is a parking lot with about 20-30 spaces. There's a basketball courts and a playground for kids. There were already people walking their dogs, biking or exercises on the open field. The Bell itself is a very cool site. The design and structure of the Bell is pretty mesmerizing. You can truly appreciate the landmark as a whole and enjoy its colorful aesthetics from any angle. There are a lot of details on the Friendship Bell itself as well as the roof and pillars. The Bell has a dope view of the ocean and roads. The view from the top is scenic and would definitely make you want to take pictures. Overall, A cool landmark to check out for anyone living in Southern California. ( ^_^)b

A must visit when I'm in San Pedro a place to come relax meditate walk watch some people play basketball. Listen to kids play and see the amazing view of the California coastline.

I treasure the moments spent driving to San Pedro when I seek meditation and relaxation. It's one of my favorite places to breathe deeply, reflect, and find my calm. The peaceful, serene ocean view fosters a deep sense of tranquility. With a basketball court, a small park for children, and restrooms, it offers all the comforts for a rejuvenating experience.

I loved the wide open park and the cool wind from the ocean. What a great getaway from the city. It's a great place to get away to clear your head. I love taking walks in the windy park. There's also a basketball court which is always full of guys playing. If you're into basketball, this is a cool place to play. The Korean Friendship Bell is a great symbol of friendship between South Korea and the USA.

A free attraction representing the relationship between Korea and the US. The parking lot was free and there was a constant flow of cars in and out. There were basketball courts in use and a few food trucks available. However, the cleanliness could have used some work. There were piles of dog feces and trash scattered around on the grass. There was also a clear overview of the waters and roads. The grass looked like it hasn't been watered for a while though. However, the stairs and bell look well maintained themselves. There was a stone description explaining how this friendship bell was a gift from Korea to the US in 1976. The bell pavilion resembles tradition Korean architectural style and was engraved with symbols of freedom, independence, peace and prosperity. There were also two engraved wood faces on the path. It was a pleasant spot to take pictures and enjoy the breeze but it could have been cleaner.

A striking display of traditional Korean architecture among the typical residential buildings in the neighborhood. It's a beautiful space to just chill and enjoy the ocean views upon a hilltop. Seabreeze combined with grassy terrain makes this spot ideal for kite flying which was exactly what we did when we visited. After multiple attempts that ended with my kite doing a faceplant, I finally found success keeping it afloat while actively avoiding other kites and people walking by. We also had a mini picnic with lawn chairs. The wind can pick up without warning, so keep your loose and light belongings weighed down.

This is a nice place to visit. I would highly recommend. The view was beautiful. A perfect place to have a a picnic and enjoy the view. Will go back again.

Nice place to visit if you are already in the area. We walked around a little bit and it can get quite windy since it's by the ocean and there was also to famous basketball court. The structure is beautiful up close and there is a free parking that can get packed quickly.

First time here. Nice ample parking lot with street parking too. Stunning panoramic view on top of this hill. The Korean Bell was a gift of friendship from Korea to the US. It is very windy on top of this hill, so be prepared. Ok, bye.

While already in the general area, my boyfriend and I made a detour to the Korean Bell of Friendship. They are located up a hill that I would be too scared to drive up. There was a large parking area, but it was super crowded. You had to vulture to seize parking. The bell was given to the US from Korea as a symbolism of friendship and peace. Families and friends come here to hang out, take pictures, have a picnic, fly a kite, and enjoy the views. It can be very romantic ;)

Did not quite make it all the way to the Korean Bell of Friendship when we were in San Pedro. Got an emergency phone call so we had to leave before we could walk all the way to Angel's Gate Park where it is located. From a distance, we did spot it. Looks beautiful even from faraway. We will return someday to truly admire this 12 foot tall, 17-ton gift from South Korea.

Nice place to visit with the kids' Swing set, Basketball Court, and the Korean Bell of course. Can't appreciate the beauty of the large bell in pictures until you see it in person. The view is amazing. Today is a cold day and people just keep coming. Plenty of parking the locals love coming here for tranquility, gives you a great appreciation of God who created this beauty.

It was like the stars aligned when we were there. Perfect spring weather, blooming flowers, beautiful sunset and a team of monks showed up right on cue when I was snapping some photos!

Awesome park to come to during the sunset hours! Great place to fly a kite and bring kids to kill time before or after dinner. We love bringing lawns chairs and a packed dinner to watch the sunset then have the kids play on the playground afterwards. It can get pretty windy so make sure to bring jackets.

Beautiful, breezy, and a must-visit in San Pedro for a day trip! It's a great place to hang out with your family, go on a picnic, or even fly a kite. There is a small hill to get to the Bell with grass and an area beyond the Bell that overlooks the cliff to the water. The coolest part is that you can play basketball with a view! The general area of the Bell gives off plenty of photo opportunities with stunning views, as well as the Korean Bell of Friendship itself. On the sign near the Bell, it was a gift from the Republic of Korea, given to the United States a few decades ago. You learn something new! Also, regarding parking, there wasn't any in the main parking lot when we went, so we parked across the street in the residential area.

One of my favorite South Bay landmarks to visit, a staple of San Pedro with beautiful views all around. Easy parking lot, restrooms and it's a dog friendly place. There's nice grassy lawns all around to fly a kite (which is common here with the nice breeze) or just to have a picnic! There is usually always an ice cream truck in the parking lot so bring money for chips or a nice soft serve!

I've been here a few times in the past but went again with some friends. This place is nice because there is free parking and bathrooms not to far from the actual bell. It's a great place for photos of the bell and the overlook of the ocean. There is even an old military bunker but they've sealed it so now you can't peak inside like before. There were also quite a few people here so it's one of those pop in for about 20 minutes sort of trips but it's still very pretty and very windy.

The Korean Friendship Bell is one of the most breathtaking views you'll find yourself visiting down in southern California. The structure itself oversees a cliff that will allow anyone to see where the water and sky meet while the rough-at-times but gentle breezes from the Pacific greets you and many others. Parking here was definitely a challenge as it's a popular spot with a somewhat medium-sized lot so I'd rather advise others to park nearby on the hillside or even the residential streets. It might be a few extra minutes but it'll save you the hassle of backing up and waiting for others to clear for minutes at a time.

Majestic gifts are all around us. The Korean Bell is one of them. I like to come here in different seasons and times of day because the Bell can look so different from one picture to the next. There is an 8 year gap between the pictures and show the difference season and sun light can make. It's peaceful, breathtaking and simplistic in all its grandeur!

Had been wanting to visit this place for years, but I wasn't sure if it justified the drive. Finally, we decided to stop by since we were in the area. The views are quite nice, but the location is relatively small. Once is enough.

Pretty spot for a picnic or to fly a kite. Tons of places you can explore around the park. There's the Marine Mammal Care center, dog park, War museum and some secret bunkers Great ocean views and occasional peacock or two might appear. I love bringing people here just to watch the sunset

The bell was gifted by the South Korean government to the US in 1976 as a friendship offering. Housed by an elaborately-designed pagoda-like pavilion, it sits atop a hill at Angel's Gate Park overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The bell is rung on certain ceremonial days such as August 15 (National Liberation Day of Korea) and January 13 (Korean-American Day). Pretty fascinating structure and at the relatively high elevation it has an amazing ocean backdrop. The place gets a bit gusty and includes a lawn where people tend to do some kiting. Completely free to visit with a designated paved medium-sized parking lot (I had no trouble finding a parking space on a Friday late afternoon). Driving here involves some semi-steep road inclines and declines but nothing too weary to handle especially if you've experienced driving in, say, San Francisco.

While the bell and the Korean structure are beautiful, the views are just as majestic. There are breezy palm trees lining the foreground with a breathtaking view of the ocean. There is plenty of parking and a basketball court available for recreation. I am really glad I got to visit this place during my stay in Los Angeles!

It looks to be a historical park with scenic views. This can be a place you can spend the day with family and friends. It is so peaceful and has a vast beautiful ocean view. I recommend this place if you're looking to just hang out for the day, a nice walk in park, sit and take photos, and enjoy a beautiful view. Make sure to get a close up look of the friendship bell and read the story of the friendship bell and how it came to be here. There is plenty of parking space and there is no fee. The local people are nice and friendly.

Upon walking up you will be greeted by a group of crows, that protect the Bell, please be respectful and don't forget to thank them before you leave. There is a tree that was planted by the Korean president on his first visit to the US there. The Friendship Bell is absolutely amazing sitting at the top of a hill with spectacular Pacific ocean views, and Santa Catalina Island. Behind you, you will see the marine exchange traffic control station. There is a park for children with a one of a kind slide. The bell itself has a Statue of Liberty carved on the bronze metal and a statue of Korea signifying our friendship. Underneath it all are hundreds of tunnels where weapons were stored during WW2. You can still see the giant steal shelter doors that remain to this day.

What a beautiful place to stop by when in San Pedro. It's like a small park. There a small parking lot but it gets full. I camped around for 5 minutes and was able to get a spot. The bell itself was pretty cool to see and grab picture. There also a really nice view of the ocean nearby. Lots of people were just chilling in the grass. Was super windy so definitely come prepared.

Been coming here for years but haven't visited since 2019. Why did I stay away for so long? Crowds. Yes, sadly crowds. NGL, it is the perfect view up here. Perfect place to fly a kite, have a picnic, play tag, whatever you like to do outdoors, but. People. Sometimes they make beautiful places less appealing. Avoid a weekend. Avoid a holiday. And don't blast music when you're in the parking lot, And make sure your trash leaves with you.

Located on edge of Gaffey St is this pretty cool place to spend with your family and friends. It does get busy during the weekends due to its popularity among the locals. Out of towners try to visit this place and spend some time lounging in their own self made lounging mats and their huge umbrellas.

The scene here is so beautiful and overlooks the ocean! One thing id like to say is the place is clean. There is parking and public restrooms. Great stop to enjoy the view

Haven't been in years. Was in the area so I stopped by. Always a nice place to visit. Very scenic view. The weather was nice. A little windy but nice. Definitely returning more often.

Such a beautiful park with great ocean views! It's nice and breezy and you can lay out some blankets and have a picnic or fly a kite! You can walk over to the Korean bell, which is a big monument and the huge bell at the center! It is a good photo op. To my knowledge, this bell was given to us by Korea as a sign of friendship and peace.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone! Taking someone out here is a true test of friendship. The bell. The ocean view. The tranquility. Everything is perfectly aligned to tell your friend that you love them. I had heard about this "Korean Friendship Bell" since my undergrad days over a decade ago. It wasn't until recently when my friend took me here on a mini outing through Long Beach and it was so worth the trek. There is plenty of parking available. The bell is grand and the entire area is a beautiful spot for photography and gazing into the Pacific. This is a must see spot in all of LA.

Great place to visit. This is definitely a hidden gem. I had heard of it before but hadn't had a chance to visit until recently. They have a huge parking lot and from there you can walk to the bell. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't very crowded. You also get an amazing view of the ocean which I loved. They have basketball courts to play and there was also an ice cream truck to buy snacks from when I went. I would definitely recommend visiting if you haven't already.

Can we say one of the most gorgeous spots in San Pedro. Beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean, a historical site to take the most amazing photos at, fly kites throughout the year, close to other locations with in a 1-5min walk (mammal care center, and the Fort MacArthur Museum check hours for openings). Cute park that has been updated within the last couple years, large area to play and kick a ball around... easy hike down the hill to the adjacent park child down below. Which had a back access up a grass hill to Fort MacArthur battery. And if the gate is open you can walk across the private little road to the mammal care center, which is to the left of Angel's gate high school. Everything here is free in all three locations between the Korean friendship Bell, the Fort, MacArthur, and the mammal care center.

What a breathtaking view. I've lived in Southern California all my life & never knew about this place. I had family come over from Texas and they had mentioned this so we drove an hour to check it out. Totally worth it. The breeze, the sights, it's just beautiful.

A beautiful monument in the port city of San Pedro. This is located in a park on top of the hill where you have a 270 degree view of the ocean. A nice place for a picnic and to watch the sunset and to appreciate the friendship bell. You can also find a basketball court up there, and they have public restrooms as well. Bring your basketball, camera, and snacks for a nice relaxing time here but make sure to put your trash where it belongs.

Been visiting and loving this sight for my whole life! Over the years has been upgraded and surroundings were enhanced. Always a perfect place to fly my kites. Public restrooms are appreciated. Clean grounds are marvelous! Never had any problems with the people who visit there. Of course, a blanket would be great to being as it may get a bit cold! And chairs if your flying kites!

Located in the San Pedro area of Los Angeles, The Korean Friendship Bell is an absolutely beautiful place to go to! This is a hidden gem in San Pedro! It's a great historic & cultural symbol...Love the architecture. It is a very spacious park area that's perfect for picnics with spectacular views of the ocean. It's connected to the historical Fort MacArthur Military Base and a very short walk to the Marine Mammal Care Center. On a clear day, you can see Los Angeles Harbor and Catalina Island. The bell is actually roped off and the log used to ring the bell is locked. There are pathways to take a stroll or a hike. There's a playground for the kiddos and a basketball court. Limited parking. This is one of the best free spots in L.A. that you can visit. It's very calm and relaxing; great for mediating. Tip: great for flying a kite

This area is so pretty. The parking lot is kind of run down, but the breeze and view you get here is phenomenal. Every one that was here was smiling and kind. The kids flew kites and played on the adjacent playground. It's such a beautiful attraction.
