Kostas Cafe

Kostas Cafe remains a Dallas classic for a reason! They do an excellent job of bringing authentic Greek culture and cuisine all the way to North Texas. The food tastes delicious and they cook everything to perfection. Our group recently ordered take out following a meeting. I didn’t get a picture of everything that we ordered but, we enjoyed it all! I can only provide a limited review of the atmosphere and the service because we ordered pick up but, it was fine. The staff greeted us immediately and we got to watch a Greek dancer and singer while we waited for our order. Overall, I recommend Kostas Cafe!

Kostas is a gem in the center of overpriced trendy restaurants. Step back in time with quality and service and a quaint experience with caring attentive staff that doesn't skimp on service or pleasing customers. Full variety of Greek food including fresh fish. Don't overlook the specials inside the foyer, their leg of lamb is the best I have ever had. Smaller restaurant, open tables. Very good for date or anniversary or special occasion. Any difficult questions or changes taken care of immediately by the staff or owner who is on site overseeing the whole operation. Our top Dallas area mediteranean destination! This was our first time at Kostas and we will be back! Donna was our server and she went above and beyond for us. There was live music and the place has such a cute, quaint atmosphere. The food was incredible and the deserts were even better! We had the Greek combo and it was plenty to split between the two of us.

I don't write this lightly, but this is among the worst greek food I've ever had. $30 for 4 pieces of tough chicken meat resting on a single piece of grilled onion in a watery sauce, and overcooked rice. The chicken was not marinated in anything, just bland grilled chicken. Neither I or my partner were able to eat the soup. They also forgot to send the warm bread for both of our dishes. Maybe they had a bad day at the restaurant, but our meal was terrible.

The food, service, and ambience were all fantastic. The services provided by the professional management and staff are the main reasons that we keep coming back. The old world elegance is a rare thing, and we value their focus to make sure that everything about the dining experience is excellent. I highly recomend this restaurant.

Donna was very inviting and super informative on menu choices. Rosie was ON POINT and extremely helpful. I loved the comfortable and intimate atmosphere. Even had little fresh flowers at each table. The Owner was also very sweet, himself. Definitely a place to bring the family!

I have been eating at this place since Bill Clinton was President. We rented out the place for my 35th birthday party and it was incredible and very memorable. I am almost retired now and I can state that I will continue to eat here for a few more decades if they are wheelchair friendly when I need one. The owner and staff are very attentive and the food is as close as you get to being in Athens or Santorini. Kudos for the usual fine service my friends!

The fact that this place has been in business since forever and I'm just now finding out about it is sickening. I can not believe I have been missing out. I was surprised that there was no crowd around 2pm on a Saturday but I am not complaining. The restaurant is super cute and the servers tended to my table right away. This was my first time ever being at a Greek restaurant so of course I needed help deciding what I wanted to get. The waiter was so helpful and his recommendations were right on point. I enjoyed EVERYTHING I ordered. If you're on the fence about visiting this place please just GO and thank me later.

My fiancé and I had the pleasure of having Donna as our waitress! It was our first time and will not be out last. Everything was amazing from the service, fried cheese, wine, gyro, veal, and custer desert. We can't wait to go back!

Delicious Greek / Mediterranean food off Greenville. I live pretty close to Kostas' and have actually been once years ago. I always forget about this spot as it is an unassuming standalone blue building off Greenville. Upon entering, you quickly realize that the exterior scene does not match the interior! On the outside the building appears a little run down. But on the inside, diners are treated to a small piece of Greece! Blues and whites along with very well appointed tables. The hosts are super friendly. I came for lunch with a friend and we had a great time. We started with the calamari. It was super tasty and not overcooked / rubbery like a lot of places. One unique thing is it was served with some kind of butter sauce instead of the usual marinara. We then each got gyro dishes. I got the gyro platter with a side salad and my friend got the gyro salad. Both were served with thinly sliced gyro meat. The meat itself was flavorful and super tasty. Not like the thicker, almost crispy stuff you get at other more casual Greek style spots. The salads were also delicious. Doused in some kind of house dressy they were not creamy so still tasted healthy! All in all Kostas is a great spot in the area that I need to stop passing over!

We seen this place on TikTok and is hands down my new favorite Greek a spot. We ordered tzatziki & pita, the Athenian Combo (Lamb chops, boiled shrimp scampi and Souvlaki) and Lamp Chops. Everything we had was great. Our favorites were the Tzatiki and Lamp chops. Tzatiki had great flavor paired great with the soft pillowy pita. I can eat that everyday. The lamp chops had a perfect cook (medium) and seasoned well. The meat was tender and juicy. Can't wait to go back and dine in next time! If you want some good Greek food, give Kostas a try.

I have been going to Kostas Café for 18years. This place provides excellent gyro meat for growing kids to enjoy ! I know my kids& I have enjoyed this for that long ! Time flies quickly. Take the time to go visit our lovely waitress " Donna " for excellent service. Scarlet & I had some delicious Dolmas-Awesome Fried Calamari-Fabulous Lamb Chops-Fabulous Lamb Shank !!!! Omg-so good. Then we topped it all off with Yummy Baklava & That Fabulous Cheese Cake!

Kostas has been a favorite in my family for decades! I keep coming back for the chicken souvlaki with okra and stewed green beans, which are some of the most delicious veggies I've ever eaten. Even the salad is addictively good! Back when I could eat gluten, I was a massive fan of the avgolemono soup with bread, and the saganaki (cheese flambéed right at the table) made a fabulous treat for special occasions. The fish is always excellent, and my dad adores the Greek Combo. You can't go wrong at this unassuming little gem!

Found out about Kostas via TIKTOK and wow. To start Donna is so sweet and immediately sat us. We ended up ordering the Kostas for two, and the soup was my FAVORITE. So thankful I tried it. The sagnaki and tzatziki was delicious. Now for the main course, the shrimp was cooked perfectly! The lamb lollipops were DELICIOUS. Along with the chicken and beef! Nothing missed, all the flavor was here. We Will absolutely be back!

I have normally had good experiences at Kostas but a few weeks ago a vendor and few employees went for lunch and 4 of them got food poisoning...we are fairly certain it was from the lamb shank special. Things like this can happen at any restaurant, but we won't be back.

My friends and I decided to have an early Christmas dinner together at Kostas. We had never been, but had heard great things about it. Well the things I've heard were on point. The food was amazing! I got the chicken Souvlaki and Shrimp. It was perfectly grilled and had a delicious sauce made from lemon and herbs. The veggie sides of potatoes and green beans were the best accompaniments. The Greek salad was fresh and I could drink the dressing, that's how good it was! We chatted with our server Jimmy, and he gave us their dessert they only have on the weekends. Then he told us how long they've been in business, which I remember correctly, has been 48 years! No wonder their food and staff are excellent. If I could give 10 million stars, I would. Definitely going to be a regular dining spot from now on. Thank you Jimmy for being the best!

This place is a gem! The food was amazing and service was top notch. Donna took care of us and made excellent Greek wine recommendations. If you're there on a Friday night, request Donna! She will take care of you. This is an establishment that you want to become a regular at. We will definitely be back!

Update: Revisited this place and was excited to see that the level of customer service has been highly elevated and the same staff are very responsive now and the food is still delicious! Looking forward to coming back again.

Donna was a fantastic server. Great recommendations were made and everything we ate was phenomenal. Ended with Greek Coffee and dessert.

Well priced. Authentic Greek food. Order the gyro by the pound to take home. Eat the lemon sole as your entree. Also recommend the octopus and calamari. It's a small quaint location. Nothing fancy, just good food.

The food was incredible! We were recommended to this place by Greek friends and it was so worth it!! Donna served us and had the best and genuine recommendations. Donna served us so well and was very personable. The Dolmas were fantastic! The calamari was perfection. Loved how it was less fried and great seasoning. The gyro plate is a must-have!! Whatever seasoning they use must be addictive because I want to go back tomorrow!! Make sure to ask for Donna as your server because she will definitely treat you right!

Food was absolutely fantastic! Particularly recommend the eggplant dip as well as the lamb chops everything was phenomenal. Our waitress Donna was a pleasure.

Delicious and authentic. Love the gyro plate which is a great portion (I share with my son who loves it too!). Great take out spot as well if you're in a hurry.

The flavors are good but the portions are small. I ordered the chicken souvlaki kabobs expecting 2-3 kabob sticks like Tzazikis, Zoe's, etc. I was disappointed to only have been given 4 nugget sized pieces of chicken and a cup of lemon soup. Definitely was not enough for the price and left hungry.

We got take out here tonight. It was supposed to take 15 minutes, but 30 minutes later the food still wasn't ready. I noticed a customer walking out with her bag and not soon after, an employee running after her with another bag. The same employee returns with that bag and hands it to me. Awesome: while there's virus around, we're just swapping bags like NBD. No apology or anything for the mistake. The food was borderline inedible. First of all, there was grease on every box due to poor packaging. Not only is the salad already dressed leading to soggy lettuce, the dressing leaked everywhere so I couldn't even take the boxes out without getting oil on everything. We ordered: Avgolemono soup: tasted like lemon juice mixed with cornstarch. Barely moved. Gyro plate: potatoes were hard. Pita burned. Aforementioned salad: soggy af Taramosalata: the staff had a doozy pronouncing this dish. Probably should make sure everyone is familiar with it before offering it on your menu. This was incredibly fishy and oily. I was hoping to have a Greek place to put in the normal rotation, but looks like I'll have to keep looking.

I was craving Greek food while on vacation, it's one of my favorite types of food. My mom and I both ordered the gyro plate, overall the food was yummy! My mom absolutely adored the pita and the Greek potatoes (neither of us ever had Greek potatoes although we both love Greek food). I really enjoyed the dressing that came on the salad, it was very light but savory. The meal also came with bread and the option to either have it with butter or dip on olive oil. The atmosphere is very intimate and the staff is friendly! I felt slightly rushed as we getting towards the end of lunch hour.

This used to be such a great place It's really gone down hill. Our waiter was indifferent our drinks were left empty. We witnessed other people having to ask him to take their order. You can tell they are using cheap ingredients & food was cold. WE WONT BE BACK

I got invited here for Valentines, yeiii! They had an special menu for Valentines day. $25 and $35 dll plates includes soup or salad. They star with bred (or what I call bolillo) and butter. The appetizer that we ordered was zaganaki cheese which is fun (bc there is fire included) and good. I ordered Moussaka plate that pretty much looks like lasagna but it has a different taste and texture. I like it. I think it is a little pricey but the food, the place and the staff is really nice. I almost forgot! They gave us a free dessert! I may be back to change 4* to 5*

This is my first visit to Kostas in over 30 years, and we had a lovely experience: 1. The space was charming, cozy with blue walls and clean table linens. 2. Service was outstanding, with multiple people circulating to ensure our water glasses stayed full, serving food hot and fresh, boxing up out leftovers, and swooshing away dirty dishes. 3. The food was as good as the service, with very fresh hot house bread and butter, pita and hummus, large greek salad with gyro meat, and shrimp with feta in tomato sauce. Everything we had was flavorful and delicious. We will surely return soon to this charming family restaurant, now here for the past 50 years, plus or minus a smidge.

The pita bread is excellent and the hummus is perfect. Go with the gyro, the meat was flawless. My only gripe was being too full to have the baklava. Conveniently located and cozy ambiance.

Kostas on Greenville use to be my absolute favorite restaurant. I would always order the Greek platter so I could get a little taste of everything and save half for the next day because it seemed to taste even better then. We went to Kostas the other evening to celebrate my late mother's 74th bday and I was so disappointed. NO DOUBT Covid did a number on them like they did the rest of the world. I was honestly glad to see they were even still open and survived the lock down of 2020. First let me say, other than forgetting to get us our dessert we ordered and taking a really long time to get back with us so we could ask for our check ( my aunt had to go find him) ... our waiter was phenomenal. Very kind, professional, and for the most part, kept my cup of water filled. But the food ... all of my friends know I love their dolmas. I brag about them all the time. They were big, think and filling and the taste was amazing. This time they were half the size. Still good but not like i remembered them and nothing to write home about ( or text in this day and age) . I ate the meat and it was a bit tough. Literally two bites of it. I took one bite of everything else and couldn't finish it. The green beans tasted like they came out of a can . The lemon soup ( which was a favorite) wasn't the same . The check for two people was 82.90 and we both basically just ate the tsa tsiki and hummus. That was good. The Pita was good and the wine was good. Maybe it was just an off night for the cook. Maybe they are having to cut corners because of the hit from Covid. I don't know. But i don't think I'll be back anytime soon. Too much for subpar food.

This place was delicious from start to finish; from the wine to the free dessert! While I haven't had a ton of Gyros, this was definitely the best one I've ever had! The atmosphere was quaint and quiet which was nice for a change and the service was great! Definitely will be coming back to Kosta's!

If you want a careless, incompetent establishment to eat at, look no further! To top it off, it had even worse customer service when trying to get the meal. Used to enjoy this place but over the years, but it has gone down hill. Not to mention the dishes this time around we got were all over the place. One missing, one over seasoned and prepared sloppy and the others were extremely dry! The young lady who works the phones should learn how to talk to customers when taking an order and not shut down. Poor poor service! Sad to see and this place!

I recently went back, this time i dined in. The service was incredible! I ordered the octopus appetizer and shrimp scampi entree. This was without a doubt the best octopus I have ever had. They nailed the texture! 11/10. The shrimp scampi was also incredible. To top off our incredible experience, they brought us free desert... the dessert was also incredible! Kostas is a hidden gem!

Excellent Excellent Excellent. Where to start. They've been here for 31 years, and I understand why. For me this was my first time here, stopped in while on a weekend trip in Dallas. Servers were very friendly and accommodating, We ordered the hummus, but can't have gluten, so instead of the pita bread/chip, they chopped us up a few cucumbers for dipping instead-Was Excellent. We all had the Gyro platter and again food was Excellent!!! Some of the best Tzatziki sauce I've ever had, meat was excellent as-well and so flavorful. Whole meal was great and very affordable. Can't say enough about this Cafe. I WILL RETURN!! Haha, it was just that good! Probably get a meal or 2 to take home as-well hahaha.

A-MA-ZING!!!! The food is so delicious and the service impeccable. I ordered the spanakopita, which came with a choice of soup or salad (I got salad), seasoned potatoes, and seasoned green beans. Oh my, it was all so flavorful and clearly homemade from scratch! Portion was more than filling - a perfect amount for someone who likes good-sized portions. So why have I never come here before?? Sheesh. I've lived in the Dallas area for 8 years now, and didn't know that this place has been around for over 30 (!!!), especially at such a central location in North Dallas. Honestly, it's probably because the building does not "pop out" - a hole-in-the-wall gem, if you will. I'm sure this place would get even more clientele if it did something to stand out on Greenville Ave. Regardless, this should not deter anyone from going here. I'm just sorry I didn't go sooner.

If I'm craving Greek food this is my fix . I have searched far and wide for Fried Calamari that compares to Kosta's . There have been none in the US only in Greece . The Lemon soup and all the salads are delicious . Honestly, never had a meal I didn't like .

This is by far the BEST Greek I've ever had. The staff is awesome and very attentive. I live in Southlake and make the drive at least monthly if not more! Yes I highly recommend this restaurant great for large groups or an intimate dinner!

Hands down the best Gyro I have ever had. The flavor of the lamb and tzatziki sauce burst forth with flavor. Highly recommend this place, definitely the best authentic Greek food in the area.
