The 7 Best Sri Lankan Restaurants In London - London - The Infatuation

"Another must-try Tooting spot, Kothu unsurprisingly serves some really amazing mutton kothu roti. Finely shredded roti, meaty, flavourful chunks of mutton, all generously topped with a layer of spring onion, this hefty portion of kothu arrives with a thick curry sauce on the side. And the best part? You get to choose the spice level. Come with a group and take one of the booths at the back, or head in for a quick solo meal—we suggest a string hopper set meal while listening to a nice podcast. Just make sure you get the cheesy mutton rolls—they’re deep-fried, and filled with slow-cooked lamb and cheese." - rianne shlebak, jake missing, heidi lauth beasley

This place is absolutely incredible. Thank you to our lovely waiter Losjan who gave us two fantastic recommendations. The layering of spices in the food was so good, everything was hot and fresh and we ordered quite a lot of food for two so appreciated the bit of time in between courses. It’s also a bonus that you can choose how spicy you want something so everyone is catered for. Honestly fantastic value for money for the quality of food you are getting. We can’t wait to get back.

I visited Kothu Restaurant in Tooting after seeing the social media hype. While the experience was good, it didn’t fully live up to expectations. The service was excellent, staff were friendly and welcoming. The mix platter tasted good but felt overpriced at £20 for the portion size. The kothu was decent, but the deer meat was barely noticeable, and the cube-shaped presentation could be improved. Pricing felt high, and we were charged £6 for a Cobra beer listed at £4.95, not sure if it was a mistake. Overall, a good Sri Lankan restaurant, but slightly expensive for what you get. Worth trying for the experience.

Been here a couple of times and every time the food has been consistent. This time I tried the lamprais and it did not disappoint. It was a flavour trip. Also kudos to the staff they were friendly and responsive.

Visited for the first time last Saturday. Unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. The meat was quite tough and overall the meal was disappointing enough that I wouldn’t choose to return. Service could also be improved. A more attentive and professional approach from short manager would make a big difference to the overall dining experience. Hopefully this is something the owner can address going forward.

Another delicious meal at Kothu. Authentic, spicy and flavoursome. Spice levels not for the faint hearted! Friendly service. Good value for money. Especially love the prawn puri!

Kothu has always been my family’s favourite restaurant, which is why today was very disappointing. The staff member serving us was polite and kind, but service overall was extremely poor, possibly due to understaffing. We waited over an hour for our food, weren’t given cutlery, and despite asking, never received water — which made it difficult to eat, especially with a hungry child. When we tried to get the food packed to take away, no one responded, so I had to go to the counter, get a container myself, pack the food, and leave. Ended up waiting over an hour just to take the food away. Really hope management improves staffing and service, as this isn’t what we expect from a place we’ve always loved.

Food and service here is great. We have been to this restaurant several times and everything we have eaten has always tasted good. We also order regularly for delivery. The mutton chops, chilli chicken masala, cauliflower manchurian, chilli mogo and rolls are all excellent. On this occasion we had the mysore masala thosai and it was excellent. The food is also very cheap for the quality. Our server was also a pleasant guy to speak to and he always has good recommendations.

Every single time when ordering online via Just Eat they purposely delay the food. Their annoyed about the cut that Just Eat is getting and are treating customers who order via the platform badly. Even if you order the food 1 hour ahead they will not be able to fulfil the order on time. And their not even busy. Ridiculous and rude service by the server who doesn't even give you an estimate.
