"Open 20 hours a day, Kountry Kart Deli is a late-night crowd pleaser, and one of few places open late. Its location next to the Flynn Theater makes it a convenient pre- or post- show spot, too.  Try the falafel, or if you’re up early opt for their greasy-in-a-good-way breakfast sandwiches like the Morning Riser with egg, American cheese, bacon, ham or sausage or a “Shiner” with hash browns." - Heather Platt

I come here almost every week and it’s usually fantastic. Last week the long curly haired guy was working the counter, a few recent reviews have also referenced this person. I couldn’t believe the way I was treated. I was picking up sandwiches with my wife and this person was extremely rude the entire time, pretty much the opposite of what I’m used to there. I’m giving 4 stars because most of the time it is. I chose to go to another sub shop this week in fear of being ridiculed by that person again while I’m spending $50 on lunch for us.

Google
Visiting from out of state, and a family member who used to Burlington recommended this place. Ordered the "main Street cheesesteak" and it was delicious. The steak tasted good, had a fair amount of cheese, and they hooked it up with the peppers. Didn't taste much of the onions. She gave me some hot sauce packets, and two per side added a little spice I was looking for. Even the roll tasted good, although I thought they would toast it. Not sure if that's an option. Woman working the counter was extremely nice and tried to direct me to a bathroom. The wait area can become a little cramped during the wait, and it took at least 15 minutes. She's a big reason I'm giving five stars, she was great. For the price ($16), I was hoping to be stuffed, but it was still worth it for the taste and the good service. Would go back. My brother says the chicken salads are great.

Google
A Must Try location for any meal! I consider myself a connoisseur of deli sandwiches, and let me tell you this place is among the best! Tried the Italian hero today and I felt swept away to taste bud heaven!

Beau Williams

Google
Such a great spot! Everything we got off the menu was a 10/10. The steak and bacon shiner was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating.

Google
Check what your paying this place is good for breakfast but 18 bucks for this is ridiculous

Google
Every time I've ordered a sandwich from Kountry Kart, it has been PERFECT! It doesn't seem to matter how busy they are - every sandwich ive ordered has been exactly what i had hoped for.

Zachary Morse

Google
The same spot I used to frequent in college, unfortunately they're not open until 2:30am anymore. Same good food and great service.

Shawn Wells

Google
Food is impeccable, but seem the staff has an issue with following you order requests. Very rarely do I go in an receive my order as I asked. Whether it is the wrong item on the sandwich or if the item is just missing in general its almost a guarantee something will be forgotten. I appreciate that the owner try’s to remember my order but I wish if im paying 10 dollars for a breakfast sandwich it would come how I am asking it too. Ive lost 10 worth of food alone on just avocado that I requested. Great food, Great people, but lack lust at for filling the order as requested!

Steve A.

Yelp
Checked out this deli and sandwich shop in Burlington. It has a crap ton of sandwiches to choose from. Kountry Kart Deli is one of the more cheaply run businesses around here. Basically it's order at the counter and take it to go. There's mostly meaty choices, but they also have falafel among other things. Big selection of the usual kinds of deli sandwiches to get. It's basically just a place to go into and place an order. Then you wait for it and then you take it to go because there isn't any seating. Opens early. They also have a few breakfast choices like sandwiches that come with eggs and hash browns on these. It's about $11 for Mike's Falafel. This has the choice of coming with creamy dill or tahini. Rest of the menu is typical subs with meats. They also have one with hummus, as well as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Has a lot to get for a small ass deli. It's open early, and also is open later. There's a lot for meat eaters, and there's a few choices for vegans and vegetarians.

Arianna C.

Yelp
Subs are really good but the prices are crazy. Understandable because Burlington is unreasonably expensive in food prices for whatever reason. I order online and pick up so I can't comment on the staff, but I did notice they don't wear any hair protection as other reviews state. Do recommend

I. Sami S.

Yelp
Is $6.75 a sandwich but they charged me $10.25 because I wanted out the sliced bread. They increased the price by 52% but didn't share with me they will charge more. Never mind they charged me 2.25 for 2 small slice of avocado that was not ripe. Terrible service and food. I will never go there again.

Jacqui P.

Yelp
Not a hair net in sight and it shows. Smh. Never again. And the icing on the cake: no contactless pay.

L. F.

Yelp
The Philly Shiner is still the king of the breakfast sandwich! Perfectly crunchy, greasy and cheesy.

Katy C.

Yelp
I found the Kountry Kart Deli during my research for a trip to Burlington with my boyfriend. I was excited because it seemed like a great place for a cheap late night bite. That's exactly what it is! They are open 20 hours a day and close at 3 am. There are no tables inside so you get your food to go. My favorite part about KKD is that they serve breakfast sandwiches the entire time they're open, including something called a Shiner, which includes a golden hash brown, egg, American cheese, and other toppings on a toasted bulky roll. They also have grilled sandwiches, wraps and sandwiches, cold subs, melts, salads, vegetarian options, burgers, hot dogs, and fried food munchies! Some of the specialty burgers are not served after midnight and take a little more time to make. I got the basic shiner with bacon, and my boyfriend ordered the cheesesteak. It did take a little bit for us to get our food, but the people watching there late at night was pretty great (mostly a bunch of drunk college kids). The wait was worth it, though -- the Shiner is one of my favorite breakfast sandwiches. The hash brown was crispy, the bacon was salty, the egg was perfectly cooked, and the cheese was melted. The bun was really soft but definitely held up well. Ask for hot sauce and you're good to go! The cheesesteak was also good with lots of veggies and tons of cheese, but I'm a big breakfast sandwich person. We found a bench nearby and chowed down on our midnight snack. I would absolutely be back for another Shiner!

Janet W.

Yelp
I stopped in for a sandwich based on the reviews. They have a really diverse menu of hot and cold sandwiches and burgers. I got a Philly Chicken sandwich and it was very good. Be aware there is no seating, so everything is for take away. The folks at the counter were very helpful. They have refrigerators of cold drinks. I'd go back.

Jacob F.

Yelp
Falafel was good batter was creamy the tossed salad was good the pstrami sandwich was nice a juicy it was good overall

Patricia S.

Yelp
I LOVE this place, best sandwiches in Burlington. It's a small store front, just head in and pick from the huge menu! Definitely a bit of a hidden gem ;). The hours are so bizarre and you can't trust the posted hours anywhere, but if you catch them open it'll be some of the best food in Burlington. I like the falafel wrap with tzatziki sauce!

Adam L.

Yelp
Used to be one of my favorite sandwich spots since my UVM days in the 90's. Just stopped by and had a lame, dry, roast beast sub and a Cajun chicken salad. No dressing offered, no fork for salad, a minuscule portion of chicken. The only thing they included for free was a hair in the salad. Thankfully, their prices have only increased by 30% since just before the pandemic.

Susie T.

Yelp
I've never had a bad sandwich here! This is a great spot to go to if you are in need of a sandwich or a late night snack after drinking at the bars! It is a little shop with no seating during the daytime. A very fast paced location that gets makes your food quick and delicious! My go to sandwich is the morning shiner! The shiner includes eggs, your choose of meat, hashbrowns, and cheese! Mmmm it is the perfect food for any meal! The workers are very nice and helpful if you have any questions or special requests. A local favorite for many college kids and townies!

Kristen B.

Yelp
KKD has never let me down. From long nights in college, to even longer "morning after"...they're always there coming in clutch. Personal favorites: The flatlander and a rise and shiner. Get a side order of Cajun fries and you're good to go! Curbside service during COVID is perfect, call in your order or place online and then call when you get there and they will bring it out to you before you can even get a parking ticket !

Kim F.

Yelp
Good amount of choices on the menu. My friends always get the shiner. Amazing seasoned fries and I usually order the gyro. This is often the late night spot for many locals but it is great and creates some solid sandwiches any time of the day.

Milo S.

Yelp
The food tastes good but..... The service is slow and it takes over 20 min. to get your order even if it isn't busy. If it is busy you are going to be waiting at least 35-50 min. Some of the cashiers are pretty rude regularly. The food portions are on the smaller size for the price. You are probably going to have to get two sandwhiches if you are looking for a meal, which doubles the bill. If the mark up from the food prices weren't high enough for the cheap products they use; they definitely get their money back on the over priced drinks. They put stickers with higher prices over the 99 cents labels on arnold palmer and arizonas! That being said their prices don't hurt their biz much because they are busy from people leaving the bars at night and some regulars in the mornings. Well here are the food ratings... Steak & Bacon (Rating: 5) it is a bit dry Main Street Cheesesteak (Rating: 5.5) The Mahoney (7.5) This is probably the best non shiner or riser sandwhich on the menu Barnyard Riser/Shiner (7.5) Cajun Chicken BLT (6) Bacon Egg and Cheese (6)

Ian S.

Yelp
Went to pick up Gyros for my kids, after almost ten minutes I was told they were out of Tzatziki sauce. I told them that my kids would not eat the gyro without the sauce. One of the counter guys went next door to Ahli's and got 2 tiny containers of the sauce. When I got home the the meat was burnt and there wasn't any sauce at all in the gyros. $38.00- Wasted. Service sucked Food was even worse. I should have insisted on a refund when I was told there wasn't any sauce.

Marcus S.

Yelp
Went here on a late night run while visiting my friend whom lives here in VT. Its open until 3 am which is great if you need your breakfast to start real early. They have a huge selection of things to choose from both food and beverages. They even have cigarettes and lighters. The staff was friendly and the food came quick though I'd imagine it would take slightly longer if it were in the morning. This is place is definitely more for take out as there are no seats. I only tried a 1/3 of my friends steak and bacon sandwich and boy was it good. Everything was flavorful and was hot. I'll be sure try something in full next time we go here.

Sasha M.

Yelp
I was picking up an order from this joint and they asked me who I was picking up for 3x. Then came a 4th time...I stepped closer to the counter and repeated the name with the order this time. Then the manger or owner snapped back at me, "we only need a name!" (Mind you, I was addressing the polite cashier when I had stepped up to the counter. The manager/owner had caught me off guard when he suddenly interrupted me.) I stepped back and remained silent. Finally, the order was ready and I walked to the counter & calmly said, "great, thank you. Also, it is important to for me to repeat the order because I need to be sure the order is correct before I leave. I would receive negative repercussions if anything was missing & once the bag is closed, I can not open it." The manager/owner frustratedly reacted by saying, "fine, give me the bag, I'll check for you." I said, "really? That would be cool of you, thanks." I handed the bag back to him, he opened it and shouted the order to everyone in the surrounding area, crumpled the partially closed paper bag & hastily handed the bag back to me. I placed the order in my hot bag, thanked them again & went on my way, even though I also needed a receipt with that order...0_O I'm not sure what's happening in 2020 but damn.

Yelp
I could live off the KKD menu and be a happy, happy man. What a great place. Nothing bad to say about it

Nicole J.

Yelp
"The Mahoney" was awesome!! All of the flavors melding together is what made this hometown staple a favortie. I'm not a big Chipotle fan, so I switched it out with garlic mayo instead. Not to mention the fact that they're open until 3 am..7 days a week!! Add a side of fresh cut, sea salt fries for the win!!

Pete L.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years. Great service, great food. Definitely one of the best quick breakfast or deli stops in Burlington. Can't go wrong with the Shiner!

Meg P.

Yelp
*UPDATE* After I wrote this review, the owner contacted me. He apologized for the error and sent me coupons for free sandwiches to make up for the error from the other day. A+ customer service response. **************** Pretty disappointed. Ordered online, was handed the wrong order. Finally handed my correct order, got home and all it had on it was the meat and condiments. No veggies (I only specified no pickles and no hot peppers, but was supposed to come with tomato, onion, lettuce, and green peppers), and no cheese. I'm not happy I spent $12 on this lame sub.

Heather L.

Yelp
Standard late night food in between JPs and Flynn. Quick to order, usually a wait for food at night. It was pretty pricey - ordered 1 burger(LTO&mayo so nothing fancy), fries, and the 5 chicken nugget and ended up 20$. Tons of college kids and shenanigans happening at night. They have a few seats(~6) facing outwards, but it is mostly standing room.

Andy M.

Yelp
Brian is a legend he sold us a banana. Opened 20 hours a day, fantastic sandwiches. All of the shiners are incredible. Hashbrowns on a sandwich, yes please. Edit: I've received my sandwiches. One had add onion and the other onion and mushroom. These additions (as well as the cheese) were not present on either sandwich. Very disappointed.

Katie C.

Yelp
This is a cute deli with a very welcoming staff. They serve breakfast sandwiches all day, along with their normal menu. I had a no meat riser - egg and american cheese on a roll, which was delicious. Even after walking home in the cold, it was warm with melty cheese and a flavorful egg. The roll is soft and airy, which makes for a good sandwich. Another option is the shiner, which is the same as a riser but with a hash brown on the sandwich. There is a $5 credit card minimum, and my sandwich plus drink cost around $6.25. The food came out fast, and it is prepared to order. This kept it super fresh and it came out piping hot. I would definitely recommend grabbing a breakfast sandwich here, and the lunch sandwich menu looked just as good.

K W.

Yelp
Awful service. Online ordering system is bad and has no place to review your order. My order was completely wrong and disgusting. Meat was gross and rolls were too. Everything about this place was bad.

Charles H.

Yelp
Unbelievably delish comfort food at great prices, friendly local staff and a nice vibe.

Stites A.

Yelp
Very good food but also great costumer service. I have been in here twice and they make a the meal as quick as they can but still somehow find a way to keep checking in with you to make sure you're taken care of. Also I lost my phone on there street corner and the help I received when I came back to find it was above and beyond

Nic P.

Yelp
Sometimes, you just want a greasy, delicious breakfast sandwich to complete your day. That's when you want to make a beeline for KKD. Gratuitous and satisfying are two words that immediately come to mind when I think about a thickly piles barnyard shiner from this place. If you go at night, especially on the weekend, the staff at the counter can sometimes be a bit direct (bordering on rude), but keep in mind, 99% of their late night customers are drunk college kids -- you'd probably have limited patience too, if you were in their shoes. The wait can be long as well, depending on when you go (try to avoid arriving around bar closing times). But KKD never disappoints.

Molly K.

Yelp
Came here for a late night snack, my friend and I both ordered large Risers. When we got home and opened them, this is what was inside...disappointing for a nearly 7 dollar egg sandwich. This place had been somewhere we went fairly regularly for many years, but I doubt we will go back.

Alex G.

Yelp
I'm sorry you had a bad rush but no need to yell in customers faces because you're in a bad mood. Unacceptable. Stop taking orders if you're overwhelmed

Rob K.

Yelp
STEAK, SAUSAGE, HAM, BACON, TAYLOR PORK ROLL, AND A CRUNCHY ASS HASH BROWN SMOTHERED WITH AMERICAN CHEESE AND SQUISHED INSIDE OF A HERO To be honest, I've never actually ordered the Barnyard Shiner, but I marvel at the beauty and creativity behind it. This sandwich really was made for me, but like a wimp, I usually settle for the Rise and Shiner. Along with the Belly Bomber found in the Bronx, this is one of the tastiest breakfast sandwiches I have encountered in a deli. No trip to Burlington is complete without a trip to KKD's. Many people have designated this their late night stop, but I see no problem stopping in at any time of day. I do wish there was at least one seat, so I didn't always have to eat my sandwich on the way out of town. Everything looks great on the menu, but during my limited trips to Burlington, I can't escape the lure of the Rise and Shiner. Well done.

Kacie F.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast shiners! The hashbrowns on the sandwich is key. Sausage & bacon ones were both awesome and a small size is plenty! Super friendly service and easy to get to, right off church street. Def a great spot for a quick breakfast!

Jana S.

Yelp
Dude. We all need a snack or sometimes a meal at 2 or 3 am. Thank god for Kountry Kart Deli. Good food available for the late night crowd. Whether you want chips and a drink, a ham and cheese sub, or a freshly made falafel sandwich, they've got you and it will be sooooooo good.

Collette A.

Yelp
Worst experience ever. We ordered three Sunshiners and waited 45 minutes for them. People that came in after us got their food before us. We asked what the hold up was to the cashier and he was empathetic at first then finally the cook forcefully handed us our sandwiches and said "there's your fucking sandwiches" and the cashier started being rude and the entire place ganged up on us and started yelling and almost turned into a fight. We will NEVER be going back here again.

Garrett T.

Yelp
Best breakfast sandwich (shiner) on the east coast. Always have great conversations with the people working. Very friendly and I enjoy stopping in!

Sam T.

Yelp
8 years of coming to this place, at all hours of the day and each time their sandwichs are amazing. The definite go-to is the Rise N Shiner, which is an amazing breakfast sandwich for any time of day. I've had a few different things from the menu and each time it was amazing.

Amelia L.

Yelp
KKD... what can I say about ya! You're just everything a girl who had a few too many VT hazy IPAs needed. It blows my mind that other places haven't put a hash brown on their breakfast sandwiches. It's a major game changer and I always make this a go-to when I come back up here to visit.

Nate R.

Yelp
Tiny spot, great for a late night bite. No bathrooms or seating, so you have to take it to go, but the food is great and easy to eat while walking. We had a cheesesteak and a breakfast sandwich that were both excellent! This place can get busy at night, but the wait for us was only about 5-10 minutes for our fresh sandwiches. Being a college town this may get really busy later in the evening.

Philip R.

Yelp
Best breakfast in town. The egg cheese sandwich with hashbrown patty in it is simply the best. Friendly staff, I go here anytime I am less than an hour from it. Great spot.

Jim W.

Yelp
In the category of Sub and Sandwich shops-I give them 4 stars. Fresh and fast. Try the roast beef grilled with mushrooms, topped with cheddar and garlic mayo. Good stuff. I'll definitely hit them up again.

Steve W.

Yelp
I loved this spot. No seating area but fast service and great food. Our Rise N Shiners were yummy and gooey and crunchy. We ate and walked as I took in the sights. I highly recommend this place if you are ever in the area.

Anthony K.

Yelp
If it's 2:00am and you're regretting that last fireball shot (we've all been there) get on down to KKD for a shiner (breakfast sandwich + hash brown). I only gave 3 starts because there are definitely better delis in burlington, but not that can help you out with these late night cravings!

Lesleigh P.

Yelp
Great breakfast sandwiches. Love the beverage variety. Had a lunch Philly, didn't care for it as much as the Shiner bacon, egg, and cheese.

Michael D.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast and back for lunch, everything here was great. I love the hashbrown in the breakfast sandwich. There are a ton of options for lunch as well. All of these sandwiches mean business. Cool staff and there is good people watching outside while you wait for your food.

J F.

Yelp
Kountry Kart Deli is a Burlington institution. If you can't think of anyplace to eat, you can always find something yummy there.

Paul H.

Yelp
Love their shiners. Would start every day this way, if I could, alternating between bacon shiners and sausage shiners. Also, great people work here.

Jeremy B.

Yelp
Hands down the best place to go after a late night of imbibing in Burlington. Without fail, the Rise and Shiner sammie hits the spot. I wish they had places to sit, but at 2am, it doesn't matter too much. HINT: unless you don't mind witnessing that night's hookup/breakup, an obnoxious band of bachelorettes or douche-y frat boys holding court, plan to get there right at 2am or just before. The clubs/bars close at 2 and that is the #1 desto after they're all shooed out of their respective bars/clubs.

Cherie C.

Yelp
My friends in Burlington are big fans of the rise and shiner sandwiches. Not your typical breakfast sandwich, they put an egg, breakfast meat, AND a block of fried hash browns on a fresh round roll. And since they are open late, you can get them after a night out. I think that's exactly what they were created for.

Milton Y.

Yelp
I ordered a Steak and Lamb gyro -- very tasty and the sandwich was jammed packed with meet and yummy goodness - I have to admit, I only gave it a 3 star rating because it didn't compare to the Gyros from NYC. Even though they did hold there own - its just not the same. I was pleased with the gyro, and would go back for another one if I was in the area. Nothing mind-blowing or particularly memorable - and considering I ate it on my way back to New York, it hit the spot!
