It is a beautiful bar to have some beers, what most impressed me were the photos on the ceiling with the 70' young women.

Google
Cute bar, bartender gave my credit card to someone else and pretended I never gave it to them. If you go, use cash only.

I really enjoyed this quirky little bar. Lots of atmosphere, including the retro decor and funky seating spaces. Friendly service. Wednesday night trivia was also lots of fun!

I was not expecting a bar with porn videos but this place is cool and so different!

My friends were harassed by two male employees at this bar. Extremely unprofessional and unsafe behavior from the staff here.

Google
Very unique and interesting place, the bartender is top notch 👌. Definitely worth checking out for some drinks.

Kozy is a must go in SF!!! The bartenders are awesome and always so much fun! There is great music and it is always so much fun! My personal fav is the hot tub booth!

Michael Brinkofski

Google
Cool funky little bar. Don't expect a menu or special cocktails, as they only have well drinks which are reasonably priced. The place has an interesting selection of seating options. Keep an open mind and visit.

Yelp
I really think everyone needs to check this place out at least once because it is like no other place. Reminded me of a bar in Williamsburg, very weird and fun. You walk in and theres a water bed to the left, look up and its decorated with playboy pinups as well as the floors. The lights are all red and bras and panties hanging along the bar. Chairs along the bar are car seats and other weird shit. in the back of the place is where you need to go. There are sections for bigger parties. Theres an RV, theres a couple tables inside a covering but the best one is an open jacuzzi that seats about 4 with a table in middle. Grab your drinks and head to the back and laugh at all the weird shit. SO, grabbing the jacuzzi comes with a tv behind you that shows music videos and then cuts to porn for like 15 seconds after like a minute of music. Goes from a Madonna video to some lady suckin away! Pretty funny stuff. Watching peoples faces makes the time.

Yelp
There was a single roach crawling on my friend while we were having drinks at the bar!!!! We closed our tab immediately and left. Enter at your own risk. The service was great though.

Yelp
More of a novel place to visit. The strong scent of incense reminded me of a grandmas house. My friends took me to this spot since I'm visiting SF. There's a waterbed seating area by the entrance (looks like the fir shag cover needs to be washed) and a booth area made with old jacuzzi parts. A place with a lot of personality. And disco lights. Posters of naked ladies covers the entire place- floors, walls, tables, everywhere. Boobs and weenies everywhere you look. Definitely not somewhere I'd come back to regularly but it was a fun place to visit. The p*rn on the tvs was shocking lol. Honestly I'd recommend checking out this unique bar but maybe not for everyone. The bathroom door is just a curtain. Btw the bras you see at the bar are donated by the community. I was told you can just offer up yours on the spot if you want!!

Yelp
My friends and I came here after going to a wine bar on a Saturday night and it was definitely the most unique bar I've been to in SF! It's a super quirky bar with waterbeds and very interesting decor that is definitely not for the faint of heart. It was pretty crowded around 10pm but still not too crowded where you couldn't get around. Overall would recommend for a fun and different atmosphere to grab a drink.

Yelp
Sad to give a 1 star because I've actually come here multiple times and had a good experience, but this last time I'm pretty sure one of the staff's friends that were the last people in the bar other than us stole my phone. I played the sound to locate my phone when lost, and a noise went off on him and everyone then looked at him. He played it off like his phone was ringing and answered it, but he really just muted the noise because when I was playing the noise after that you couldn't hear anything, but my phone's location was saying it was in the bar. They rushed me to leave because they were closing and wanted to go home, and so we waited out front for all of them to leave to see if my phone's location was updated once they left. After 20 minutes, the friends of the bartenders, who I think stole my phone, walked out, looked at us, and quickly started to jump in a car. However, before they got in the guy asked if anyone wanted to buy molly or cocaine off of him. After that, my phone's location stopped responding, and later, it said it was in a different part of the city. We got the guy's license plate and reported it to the police, but all this to say don't go here. Yes, the staff were nice and let me look for it after they closed, and said to contact their Instagram to see if the cleaners found it the next day BUT their friend was in there the whole time and it was obvious he had my phone after the noise went off on him. Yet no one did anything and they said we had to leave because it wasn't there.

Yelp
I stopped in with a friend just to spend time together. I ordered a drink then was told to leave they were closing. As we were leaving bartender angrily stated as we were walking out the door we closed you need to hurry up and leave. So rude and unacceptable there were still patrons in the bar. This is not job for him.

Yelp
I was very pleased at the fast service and tasty drink options at this niche bar in Polk Gulch. The ambiance was perfect to bring my date after we had an amazing dinner at Fiorella up the street (which was also amazing). 10/10 would highly recommend. I'm definitely sending all my friends here.

Yelp
Rude workers. Bartender looked at my friend in a rude manner ordering an AMF. Workers were also forceful

Yelp
Never underestimate Kozy Kar.The best bar in sf. It's amazingggggggggggggggggggggggggg

Yelp
TL;DR - Must go institution in SF! You have to go here if you're visiting SF!!! This is an iconic place because it truly is a reminder of how weird SF used to be and how weird it still is. Mind you - there is porn that plays on the tvs. There's tons of weird and unique booths and seatings. You have a small dance floor. The drinks are cheap. The area this bar is located gives you options. Honestly, never had a bad time here.

Yelp
If you go there, be aware that you deal w dangerous, stupid people. A staff member lost his mind after I slapped the pinball machine that was not working, the ball got stuck and he refused to help. I did not shake the machine or anything crazy. I then got assaulted by 4 men, for no reason, a guy who said to be the owner punched me and threw me to the ground. I was trying to de-escalate the situation the whole time but he was insulting me non stop until I left the place throwing my glass on the floor . if you go there, be aware, this is dangerous.

Daisy P.

Yelp
This was the best bar I've ever been to! We had so much fun we didn't want to leave and it was pouring outside but it was last call and they gave me a free umbrella! So sweet!
google avatar

Jiaan M.

Yelp
Was here with my friends we had like two drinks and then when I left outside for a smoke the bouncer said I was too drunk to go back in which I was not and at the time my tab was still opened and after my friend got my card back for me I had a charge of 300 dollars on it and when I said to the bouncer wtf is going on I want to go back in and ask the bartender he punched me in the nose 3 times which made me bleed so definitely don't go there the bouncer will threatened or assault you, if you had the same experience as me please let others know.

Yelp
Fascinating... Waterbeds to lounge in... 80s TV commercials with pornography spliced in... Bar with pictures of nude ladies... Booths with Jacuzzi seating... And decor that I wouldn't call pro-feminists... The crowd is typical 20s-30s San Franciscan hipsters...I wonder how they all afford to live here. The bachelor party and I were pretty drunk by the time we arrived, but I do remember that 2 Stellas, 2 tequila shots, and an Old Fashioned ran $38, which I don't think is too terrible for San Francisco.

Kathleen C.

Yelp
Kind of a grimy place. Interesting decor - bras on the ceiling, naked prints tiled on the floor, random nostalgic items throughout the bar. Bar tender was mad when I didn't tip much and gave me an attitude about it. Would not return. Long Island Iced Tea was strong. Vodka cran was watery.

Annie A.

Yelp
I have never seen so many bartenders laugh at their own jokes in place of serving customers. They referenced Interview With A Vampire the TV show pretty consistently, so I would probably recommend seeing that before coming into the bar. 5/5 stars
google avatar

Kory G.

Yelp
It's dark, Grimmey, local porn bar, and such a vibe. If you want to try something new and meet some fun people stop here when bar hoping on Polk street

Addy C.

Yelp
The decor is legit. Perfect if you're looking for somewhere more "relaxed" - no fancy schmancy cocktails. Perfect dive bar with a fun atmosphere.

Yelp
Kozy Kar is a unique place. Cheap beers, bras hanging above the bar, old half cars with worn out seats to sit in, pictures of older era playmates on the bar, a loop of 70s TV shows mixed in with porn, etc. People that love themes and kitsch would probably like it here. I wish it opened earlier so I could come here right after work (opens at 7) but it's not an after work kinda bar rather more of a dark divey drinking den until the wee hours type of place.
google avatar

Angela A.

Yelp
This place was very interesting! It's a unique bar that has a total 70s vibe to it. They don't have any beers on tap and don't have any specials. They have a few beers in bottles and then of course a full bar with alcohol for your choice of mixed drinks. They take card and cash. But I did enjoy the aesthetic in there! Super cool! They have seating that is very different from any bar I've seen. One is like an old car and another one is an old jacuzzi. They have a few small screens throughout the bar playing porn clips which I thought was funny and very different. Overall it was a cool spot!
google avatar

Rob P.

Yelp
Wow, what the fuck bar did I just go to? I can't say I didn't enjoy myself, as Kozy Kar was a very unique SF experience I would never have in San Diego. In fact, I don't think this bar could exist in very many cities around the US. But it totally works in the SF. Would I go back? Probably not. Just not my scene. It'd probably be cool to take some people here as a group as Tim K. pointed out. With waterbeds & 70's porn playing on the TV, it's definitely unique. But Tim also said it was the worst rum & coke in his life. I stuck to beer and was happy about that decision. So yeah, good for a laugh but not a bar you'd see me at regularly if I lived in SF.

Yelp
Fun and raunchy bar in the Polk area. Good place to hit up if you are planning to get HamTown. I only give it 4 stars out of 5 becuase any type of alliteration with K is too close for comfort, IMO. Also, they would not fix up a Schlitz Cocktail when I ordered one. (Note: A Schlitz Cocktail is a can of Schlitz beer served with whipped cream and a cherry on top. It's delicious! If Schlitz is unavailable, you can use PBR as a substitute. Also, I've found Olympia works well.)

Yelp
This is one of my favourite dives in the city. If it isn't a dive, I don't know how else to describe it. As soon as you walk in, there is a water bed immediately to your left. Decently comfy but kinda awkward to sit on with a large group of friends. Next down the long hallway is the bar. Above the bar is lined with lingerie, kinda weird kinda funny. The bars serves good drinks, standard pricing. Walk to the back, and you have a dance area with a bunch of unique booths. One of the booths has access to another water bed! My favourite memory from here is definitely when the bartender lined up at least 10 Jaegerbomb drop shots. And then they turned on a little alarm at the back that I never knew existed that they said they play for their favourite group of the night.

Jeff O.

Yelp
Awesome bar! One of my favorite in SF. It's very unique and has open sexuality throughout, so can totally seee how it's not for everyone. But I absolutely love it.

Ben W.

Yelp
Cool spot, younger crowd, seems a little disheveled and not kept up well. Ie broken tvs, and odd
google avatar

Yelp
A staple bar for a great night out in SF. Anyone who doesn't have a good time here or talks any bad about kozy Kar just isn't fun at parties. Period. Who doesn't love to see boobies on the wall under disco ball ambience!?

Yelp
If you're looking for a fun bar with a funky atmosphere this is for you! if you're looking for A-class, artsy-fartsy cocktails -- this isn't the place for you! I read a lot of reviews about the bouncer and the staff behind the bar being rude/kicking people out for absurd reasons but didn't experience nor witness any of that when I came here! I found the bouncer to just sit there and check my ID, which is technically his job, and I found the bartenders to be extremely friendly and we even joked a bit about me getting kicked out but I never felt threatened nor was i kicked out lol I also wouldnt classify this place as "classy" which is one of the reasons I personally wanted to come here. The decor is 70s themed with old vans and hot tub jacuzzi cut in half that serve as booths (short dresses and skirts beware). On the TVs you catch quick glimpses of 90s porn, was pretty disappointed it wasn't 70s porn to stay on theme but oh well! All in all, I would definitely return with friends with an open mind but in no way shape or form would I bring one of my parents or family members here (that would be awk)

Yelp
All I'll say is I ordered my friends drink and then went back to order mine and I'm 99.9% sure I got roofied by either the bartender or someone by me. I blacked out after that drink and I wasn't even drunk when I first got there. I'm definitely not going back. I'm writing now because I couldn't remember what the bar was called and just found out. Just be safe out there people.

Yelp
My friend once said, "Everyone is a pervert...EVERYONE." If you claimed not to be, than you were are a "LIAR". His words. Not mine. As a former Catholic school girl, growing up, I was very shy and innocent. Despite my cray cray Yelp persona, I'm still that "shy and innocent" girl inside. Seriously. Just ask my dad. And then came, Kozy Kar... HOLY F*CK! Titties all over the walls, on the floor, in the bathroom, bouncing on the TV screens....my eyes got more exercise than at 24 Hour Fitness (I took a pic of the XXX wall but it's NSFW and the last thing I want is HR cracking the whip on you.) It doesn't stop there... Stripper pole, jacuzzi, shagged covered motion in the ocean waterbeds, vintage VW seats and even a "love shack" inside a converted VW van. Black light time! And I don't mean for a rave party. It may be tacky. It may retro cheesy. It may be a bit dingy. But I f*cking loved it! Where else can you sip a stiff drink while watching money shots while c*ck 'n cuddling on a waterbed? Only IN Kozy Kar. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/TqPNHkYhk3t-hUPQHW2JVA?select=Kh2rlSxauaDGbNADE4u4HQ#YjN65iCBjGXygWdMo4ER3A I enjoyed every moment there especially all the "eyes" looking at me! Yeup, I AM A PERVERT. *Le Sigh* OTHER NOTES: *Stiff cocktails: $7-$8 *5 drinking alcoves (e.g. waterbeds, VW van, jacuzzi, etc) *70s-80s movies playing with soft porn mixed in *Small dance floor *Marina-type crowd *Two restroom stalls with changing room curtains *Credit cards accepted

Yelp
I had to check out the Kozy Kar for myself last Friday so I headed over there with a friend for Happy Hour. It was pretty empty around 4:30 p.m. with a couple people here and there. The bartender was a real funny guy and laughed when my friend tried to order a Newcastle. No beers on draft and the wine comes in boxes, the white wine isn't chilled but I'm sure they will offer up some ice. I moved around a few times since there was so much room. The waterbed seats were cold and a little awkward to sit on but I laughed while squirming to stay in my seat. The seats at the bar are a little too close to the counter and kept banging my knees. There are no purse hooks either, but I think they are working on that. My big peeve was the bathrooms, the door is open and there are curtains on the stalls instead of doors. You cant really knock on a curtain and I felt a little uncomfortable. It was okay, definitely a different place that has a fun feel to it. Maybe I'll go back in a few months after the kinks are worked out.

Yelp
It's honestly sad that I have to write this review over the POS staff who are compete a holes. And after reading other reviews, I definitely would have never even gone here. We came here because it was "on our list" of places to visit. BIG MISTAKE! We asked the bartender if we could charge a phone while consuming a couple drinks. After hanging out and having a couple drinks, all while leaving an extremely generous tip, we went to grab the phone from the charger behind the bar. The bartender's screamed at us, threw our drinks out and said "that's not liberal of you". Then told us we had to get out all because we grabbed out phone from the charger. I was completely taken back by this behavior. Insane to me. I asked for my tip back out of principle and was called a dick and told to get the fuck out. Whatever. Dont go here. Its not "kozy." Go to the Saloon instead. It's worth the drive. Better environment, great service and live music. Oh..and our phone was locked after leaving it with those guys. Sketch and untrustworthy.
google avatar

Christina N.

Yelp
Definitely not what I was expecting before I walked in, but I had a great time anyway! The decorations were eyebrow raising, but I did enjoy the waterbed. Took us a while to realize that they werent just playing regular movies on the screens, that pretty much every minute or so it cuts into 5 seconds of porn scenes that got increasingly hardcore as the night progresses. I can see this being a fun dive bar with some friends, but probably not the best bar to hang out with your coworkers (unless they're cool, of course), or for a first date...
google avatar

Yelp
Maybe one of the best bars I have ever been to . Should be called Krazy Kars if you ask me. A van with a water beds ( seems like a 1970s sex van if you catch my drift) Other notables are a dancing pole and some crazy ass TVs with 70s porn that cuts from porn to 70s commercials with much innuendo, playing an endless loop. Drinks are cheap and the service is friendly and efficient. This a unique, hilarious, very original San Francisco gem that is a must see but not for the faint of heart.

Kalie B.

Yelp
I've experienced the most rude service here in San Francisco and perhaps all over the US in my travel experience. I went twice- the first time was lovely and I was excited to return. The second time, I visited before closing and got drinks. Almost immediately after sitting down with my drinks, the bartender tells my friends and I that we need to hurry up. We are totally understanding and try to chug as fast as possible. For context, it's not even 1:45am on a Friday night. We make our way towards the exit, trying to drink as fast as humanly possible, where the bartender literally tries to snatch our drinks out of our hands in between sips and the bouncer tells us we need to leave, all the while, there are three patrons at the bar still. When I ask specifically why we're being rushed and not the other people at the bar, they say because they are "friends". Having worked in the industry for over 10 years, I get wanting to close, but the service was absolutely horrendous, and IF they did not want us to stay late, simply DO NOT serve us the alcohol then FORCE us to leave minutes afterwards. Truly am so disappointed with this experience and will never visit again or recommend.

John B.

Yelp
If Thomas Pynchon and PT Anderson had a baby it would look a lot like Kozy Kar. Dimly lit and pornographic, this bar is a lovely slice of Americana. Gapes are spliced with ads for big wheels on the old cathode ray tube TVs. Worth stopping in for at least one drink. Maybe not with your mom! Or maybe with her you sick fuck!
google avatar

Logan T.

Yelp
I couldn't love this place anymore. Weird is an understatement. I have to keep writing to post this as a review but it's a bar. They serve beer inside old hot tubs and vans.
google avatar

Yelp
Kozy Kar has its own kitschy, divey charm. If you're not an open minded person, you may not like it because there are several CRT TV screens that play vintage porn with a mix of old commercials and cartoons. But, that's the unique thing about Kozy Kar and that's why I try to bring friends from out of town here. It's an interesting concept. The bartenders are great. Had no issues. But I do feel for the them for this reason: So, the bar has a cool feature where a portion of the floor is made out of plexiglass with some sort of mirrored border so it creates the illusion of a bottomless floor. You wouldn't miss it and it would be one of the things you notice as soon as you enter. For some bizarre reason, I don't know why, but SOOO many people, (enough people to make this problem significant and noticeable), whose first reaction to the glass floor is to kick and slam into it really hard in what I would assume is an attempt to break it. I'm not even talking about tapping lightly with your feet but ACTUAL SLAMMING, JUMPING and KICKING. What's the end goal?? Ok, you just slammed your foot right into glass and fall through a hole in the ground. Congratulations. I've seen this several times and the bartenders always have to go up to all these hooligans to warn them or kick them out. And they'd be mad that they have to leave for trying to break something in the bar. Completely uncivilised and bizzare behaviour!

Yelp
Themed dive bar with cheap drinks. It's a pretty small space but it has some pretty eclectic decorations going on with the water bed seating, or you can sit in a booth, old televisions everywhere, bras everywhere, nude women printed onto the ground and porn spliced into old advertisements on the television. Makes for an interesting, but pretty fun vibe. There's space for dancing and sitting which is nice. Drinks aren't terribly strong, but I repeat, they're cheap.

Yelp
The staff here is extremely rude. During my last visit, which will be the last time I spend money at this organization, I walked in with my friend who is an American citizen but from Mexico. He had a form of identification that was not a drivers license or passport, but is most certainly a legible photo ID that is more than acceptable to determine age to be let in at a bar, and to which no other bar has ever given him trouble for. The bouncer refused to let him in, saying he'd never seen this ID form before and that it was fake. Bullshit. He was extremely rude about it. I had been let in already ahead of my friend, so I went to get the bar manager, who came and reviewed everything and said it was fine, but was still not very kind about it. Okay. Another hour or so passes and my roommate is coming to meet us. He is Moroccan, with a Moroccan drivers license. Sure, it is not the exact same to a US drivers license, but it is obviously a valid form of identification. The same bouncer again refused to let my friend in, saying "never seen this type of ID before." I'm sorry, train your staff better? Or maybe not hire bouncers that are refusing entry to people because they're very real, legible, non-US identification isn't something you've "seen before"? Sounds like other issues at play here to me. The bar manager also refused to let my roommate in because of his ID. When my roommate became upset and questioned the bouncers reasoning, the bouncer looked at me and said "if you don't get your friend out of my face in 10 seconds, I'm going to knock him to the ground." Not cool dude. I wish I found out this bouncers name, but he refused to tell me and said some not so kind things to me in response. Seems like a misogynistic and racist asshole who shouldn't be in any kind of social service environment. I won't be coming here any more, and I will repeat this story to my friends in the area who recommend it.

Yelp
I came in late at about 1am on a Saturday. It wasn't too packed but there was only a small walk space between the wall and the bar stools which made it hard to get in and order a drink. Even with just about 20 people at the bar. I've read a lot of reviews about the bouncers being racist against people of color. Well I was by myself and the bouncer was very sweet. Not to mention that he was a man of color himself. Take what people say on Yelp with a grain of salt. I was coming from out of town and wanted to just check it out and get some pictures. I have never been in a bar quite like this before. I wish I would have come in a group I would have loved to party here and hang out in one of the car booths and watch porn and get wasted hahaha! Next time!

Yelp
I like everything about this local dive bar. From the worn out upholstery on the barstools to the vintage playboy pinups laminated under the bar top, this is a place you're going to love. The other possibility is that your delicate sensibilities will be offended because the first time you came here you brought your mom (or a first date) for an after dinner cocktail. Don't do that here. This is a place to go with your 'edgy' musician friends. The K-Kar has lots of style and fills a niche that no other local bar can lay claim to. A heavy 70's vibe is on display all over the place with 'ancient' video games, toys and vintage boom boxes on the wall. The pinball machine and waterbeds are more reminders of that bygone era from my youth. Another noteworthy feature of this fine establishment is the lone TV behind the bar, but don't come here thinking that you'll be watching the Warriors playoffs while sipping a strawberry daiquiri. Here you'll watch a random montage of clips from 70's movies and commercials of that period. Sprinkled into the video stream are short 5-second clips of hard core XXX movies that really get your attention. The bartenders are chill and the drinks are reasonably priced. Mind you, I haven't had anything fancier than a shot of tequila here, so I can't exactly speak to their mixology skills. You won't find any umbrella drinks on the 'menu' and I probably wouldn't recommend this place for any cocktail fancier than a Long Island ice tea. That said, the drinks are strong and the beer is cold. Nuff said on that.

Yelp
The Most quirky San Francisco dive bar you could imagine. The chop shop cars in the back are just wild-- totally unlike anything I've seen before! Loved the homemade feel of all the design and the cheeky, but not obscene, decorations. Still probably want to leave your mom at home for this one. The crowd was very SF hip (and dude heavy) when we went on a Friday night. Expect to order beer (or shots if it's that kind of night) and be comforted by the nostalgia of that slightly sticky floor.

Yelp
Very very unique. In a good way. Definitely have to be open minded and this is why. There is TV,s everywhere. And what are the playing you ask? Old baseball clips, football clips, commercials, and porn. Yes, porn! Every pervs dream haha! Bunch of cool car memorabilia everywhere, lava lamps, and an infinity mirror floor! My wife and I definitely had a great time, and good laughs. Little musty inside but that's probably because it was so packed and everyone was talking and having an awesome time. The bartender was really cool, very welcoming and wasn't arrogant asshole like a lot of bartenders in the area. Definitely coming back next visit! Thank you guys!

Yelp
Came here with some friends on a Saturday night... long story short, the bartender was extremely rude and even started acting aggressive... mentioned to one of my buddies that he hoped he got hit by a car... when one of my friends who is a smaller framed female mentioned to him that that wasn't necessary, he started to get loud and even more aggressive, threatening to fight some of us, mentioned f**ckng some of the females in our group. Can't believe this guy is really a bartender. Writing this review in the hopes that no one else out there should have to experience what we did. My advice, go somewhere else.

Yelp
The bouncer here was really rude when my friends and I came in the other night. He snatched my friends water bottle (which was empty) out of her hands because there's no outside liquids allowed and then grabbed two of my friends bags and threw them on the floor behind him since apparently there's no bags allowed either. My friend was taking her phone out of her pocket when he tried to grab that as well, asking if she was trying to sneak a flask in... I walked in right behind them as they turned to leave and asked for his name and if I could fill my water bottle. He didn't like that I asked for his name and said I couldn't fill my bottle or come inside and said there wasn't a manager on duty to speak with. He was probably acting like that because of bad experiences he's had in the past, but it was just a horrible experience and we left without ever getting past the doorway

Yelp
Last Friday I went there and gave them our credit card to order drinks. The shit bartender returned a different card when we closed out our tab! Then told us we were drunk and we didn't have a card there. I messaged the person who card we ended up with and he said they told him "we lost your card" Those idiots who worked last Friday need to get fired!
