Kraken Crudo

Amazing small place you could easily walk by and miss an amazing opportunity to have some wonderfully creative raw food. A Japanese / Latino / American twist that works superbly. The fish is as good as you would get in a higher end - and way more expensive - Japanese restaurant. Their pizza - sashimi on a tostada - is genius and the staff are lovely. If you are in the midtown area don’t miss it.

Without a doubt one of the best sushi’s in the area. And service is impeccable! I have ordered pretty much the whole menu and nothing has ever come short of delicious! But my personal favorite is the salmon all day roll

Update The owner responded very nicely so we are likely to give this restaurant another chance. I felt bad leaving 1 star so I changed to at a 3 and if it improves the next time I order I will make it higher. The food was usually amazing and that is why we were disappointed. I have updated my review to reflect the good food prior the the past couple of times and if we use them again, I will write they did a better job. --------- This place has given awful service the past couple of times I have ordered. Delivery takes forever and many times the food comes missing ingredients. Thinks like no honey on one of the rolls. In addition the sauce also gets all over the top of the container and not on the roll. Today we decided to do carry out. The app told us it would be ready at 9:11. We arrived at 9:22 and they said it would take another 25 minutes. We asked to cancel the order and they said it wasn't possible. This is how they packed the to go. Pictures below. Our typical order is well over $100 and this is not how good customers should be treated. Awful service. It's the last time we'll eat there.

Rolls are so delicious, so creative, so fresh with different combinations. Highly recommend. Super flexible, you can choose to replace rice with quinoa or arugula for any roll for a dollar more. Truffle roll beyond delicious, loved the seaweed kani salad. About $20 each specialty roll

Fresh and quality cuts! Excellent sushi. Nice selection and creativity with the menu. I wish the service were a bit faster, but one man can only do so much — and he is great, friendly, and kind. My favorite was the tuna & truffle, but others are great too. The prices are a bit too high IMO, but this inflation doesn’t help too. I will be back!

What a delight! The food was incredibly fresh and full of flavor. They were attentive and responsive to my food allergies knowing exactly how to modify for them. It was very fast and gorgeous looking too. Edit: Came back the next night with others and it was just as good. Added more pictures from the second meal. The Kraken Crudo was true to its name and was amazing!!

Very nice and cozy Gem an busy city life of Downtown Miami. And amazing enough all workers are young people cooking so well and providing great service. What surprised me was a goat cheese sushi with truffle. Everything was so yummy and fresh, so I was amazed with quality and time it took them to prepare so quickly. Nice place for a byte. I would only add more parking and have nicer sitting area outside. The rest was fantastic with affordable pricing and happy hour menu.

My wife and I were down in Miami shopping for furniture in The Design District and we walked right by Kraken Crudo on the way and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. The sushi was terrific and the service was outstanding. We had a combo sushi nigiri dish and a couple of sushi rolls and everything was fresh and delicious. And an ice cold Sapporo beer is a treat anytime.

Great sushi for a tiny little place. Fish was all super fresh and the flavors were excellent. The dressing on the sushi salad was absolutely delicious. Don't miss this little place that you could drive right past!

I live up the street from this place but never knew about it until recently. Came in tonight for a quick dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The menu was pretty unique! Everything I tried was super tasty- salmon tartare, roasted kraken, Zeus and jalapeno popper rolls. The jalapeño roll was especially unique as it was a warm roll which I don't think I've ever had. This is a very small but quaint restaurant. Prices are reasonable and service was good. Would come back!

I guess I'll be nice about this review. I seen this restaurant on some Miami videos. I watched on YouTube just getting to know the local area and food around me before I visited I tried every single thing that the server recommended we must of had different taste in food. He ended up bringing us out some citrus ceviche, fish tacos and for dessert some Kinda Oreo cookie roll everything was very unique. Me and my girlfriend tried everything the ceviche was some of the nastiest food I've ever put in my mouth raw fish with lemon and cilantro was absolutely disgusting I'm no waster so I tried to eat it and it felt like absolute punishment, the fish tacos were very unique and had some type of caviar baby eggs on top that exploded in your mouth when you took a bite not really a strong taste more of a texture thing I believe the seaweed shell was very crispy and tasted like eating a leaf.. I paid for the meal, but I was not happy. Some people might like this food. The reason for my stars on the review server was very nice. The restaurant was very clean. Just not my kind of food but I tried it.

Restaurant is small, but decorated well. Menu has a lot of unique items and fish tasted fresh and were tasty. The only complaint is that, the items were on the pricey side imo and the portion sizes were small. Service was also quick and great.

My wife and I dined in here for our first time visiting. The restaurant is in an unassuming area that is right up against NE second avenue so during traffic time the street is busy. Parking is nearby on the surface street and there appears to be a garage right around the corner as well. As mentioned, if you didn't know the restaurant was there you might not know to look for it. There's a small, intimate indoor dining area with some tables outside that are probably nice with good weather. Service was attentive and food was quick to come out. We started with a wakame salad that was fresh. For our rolls we ordered the Zeus (not pictured), ceviche roll, and jalapeño popper roll. The jalapeño popper roll was a pleasant mix of sushi and some melted cheese. Our other favorite was the ceviche roll that came with a sauce that was really fresh. To finish it off we tried the Oreo roll for dessert which was a fun and sweet spin on sushi. Overall we plan to visit here again in the future and try some of the other options on the menu.

First of all I want to say, I love the decor and atmosphere here. Small but very aesthetically cozy. A big octopus painting on the wall I love! Secondly the food is amazing . One of my favorite sushi spots here in Edgewater. Me and my girlfriend ordered a little bit of everything. I loved the tuna tartar sushi special roll. We also enjoyed so sake ! The services gave great suggestions like the artichoke appetizer. I would absolutely recommend for a date night, girls night or just a solo sushi trip!

I was very excited to eat here with some friends because of the good reviews. It a casual sit down place that you can grab sushi. The food itself was OKAY. The fish didn't seem fresh and I wasn't wow'd by anything sadly. Everything was okay. The service was friendly and good.

This has to be one of my favorite spots for sushi in Miami. I've gone several times and they always exceed my expectations. It's a small place with a relaxed ambience. Everything was exceptionally fresh. I loved the salmon tartare. The tuna and truffle roll was incredible! Very different spin on a roll that I would have never imagined. Even for those who don't like truffle, it's not overpowering. But now, let's discuss that notorious roll. The baked salmon belly melts in your mouth like butter. The flavors are so perfectly balanced. I would be here everyday if I had the chance!

I can't believe I waited so long to finally try kraken crudo, it exceeded my expectations and it's my new go to sushi spot!! The quality and unique selection of rolls are top notch, the price is absolutely affordable and worth it. I would even come here by myself for a roll! Must try the nori tacos, the seaweed shell is crunchy. We had tuna and salmon, couldn't get enough. The tuna pizza is also the perfect crispiness, with a drizzle of honey to die for. Mr.bombtastic roll was also heavenly with crunchy quinoa, tuna, salmon, shrimp, all the things. I love how most rolls come with tobiko or ikura to give it More Flavor. My favorite part is that you can have the rolls rolled in quinoa or arugula rather than rice! We finished with the Oreo roll WHICH IS SOOOO GOOD! It's the first time I tried an Oreo sushi roll and I will come back just for this!

We discovered Kraken Crudo staying at a nearby hotel, looking for local eats to try out upon moving to Miami. We were surprised and happy to see a small local sushi place nearby. The vibe was chill with a small and quaint setting. The dishes were delicious, as we tried sake, happy hour sushi, and their sushi "Pizzas". They came on sustainable dishes with sustainable eatery. The food was okay, and the staff was okay. We might come back, but the prices are a bit higher and the staff could be a bit friendlier and warmer.

Some of the best sushi I've had in a while. It's a bit pricey but par for the course. The restaurant is tiny but looks clean. Service was good except they don't show you an itemized bill. All you see is the total and options to tip. So I had to ask if tip was included then ask for receipt since I don't look at prices when I order.

Fantastic experience and food. Fresh, innovative and creative rolls. Service was on point. We did have a bum come in and ask for money, but that's the area and the current state of the country. Certainly not the restaurant's fault. Sample almost everything of interest from the menu in a very low pressure, low key environment. Won't hesitate to go back next time we're in Miami. Enjoy the pics - do many rolls and unfortunately didn't write them down.

The food is amazing! The protein and ceviche roll is so tasteful! The sauce it comes with to dip the ceviche roll is the lime sauce from ceviche. Absolutely amazing

I ordered takeout sushi from here the other day. I have to be honest I wasn't that impressed. There weren't any distinct flavors and the sushi wasn't that unique. The fish was fresh but nothing overwhelmingly good to be honest. I was really looking forward to the tuna pizza because I love truffle. I didn't really taste or smell much truffle. They were a little skimpy on what I felt is a key ingredient.

Super low key spot and Miamis little hidden gem. This sushi spot made an imprint on my taste buds. No joke! From the service to the food I was not disappointed at all.The sushi taste fresh, and every single bite feels addicting. The place gives more of a laid back chill vibe rather than upscale ambience, but I would rather have good food over ambience any given day. Let me tell you I travel and tried sushi allll over and recently moving to Miami I been on a search for a good sushi spot and this is THE ONE. I appreciate the creation of each roll, you can tell the chef cares about putting that extra love into the sushi. NOTORIOUS sushi roll 10/10 order it! Then tuna and truffle also 10/10 . The 3rd and final we don't even know the name because it was made special. So if you want get crazy and ask them to surprise you. This place does also have happy hour starting at 4 few options on apps, rolls, and drinks.

All I have to say is "YUM" !!! It's weird because it's not your traditional sushi place. It's very fusion (so don't expect the traditional stuff). Let your taste buds guide you. Sushi is really weird with cream cheese but at Kraken, I can tell you that these sushi rolls with cream cheese are pretty damn good. I'd like to tell you that the tuna pizza is "ok" to me. I'm not used to having tuna with honey & it tripped out my taste buds. Appetizer : Tuna Pizza $13-$14 Sapporo beer $3 Rolls: The Notorious $16-$17 Tuna & Truffle $15-$16 Nigiri : Ikura $4 each All I have to say is to be open minded about trying to let your taste buds roll with it. The Staff was very knowledgeable and willing to help recommend some things on the menu. They were very accommodating and kind. Will be back!

Little hidden sushi spot in midtown with very delicious sushi. The menu is nice with a nice variety of raw sushi. The only reason I took one star off was bc I wish they had some tempura options which they don't. I went with my husband and daughter and we had a wonderful meal. The server was friendly and suggested a super tasty juice with matcha and chinola that was great. It's a quaint spot with indoor and outdoor seating.

I will forever give this place five stars because I love their sushi. It's fresh and the rolls are a decent size. Note to self, the lunch special was not available today as it was a holiday. Normally one of the best sushi lunch deals in the area for $13.50 (two rolls and soup/salad).

Sushi was very fresh! Also lots of different roll options. A lot of them are unusual like a ceviche roll. Service was fast. 3 of us all had different rolls and we all enjoyed them. Would highly recommend!

Can somebody say "sushi tacos"??? This taco was so amazing between the spicy tuna, the seaweed salad, Tobiko, the fresh and crispy outer seaweed wrap this bite was to die for. The other picture is the salmon belly crudo. It had some pieces of Ikura on it, and the micro cilantro really brought out some awesome flavors. Every dish here seems intricate with so many tastes and the plates make you say wow. Not pictured was the Ikura rolls which were delicious as well as the truffle tuna roll! Recommend both! Can not wait to come back and try the Oreo roll!

I don't know why I insist on having sushi on out-of-state work trips. I'm almost always disappointed and it's never as good as what I can get back in California. Maybe I just crave something light and healthy after eating all that midwestern fried food, Deep South BBQ, etc. But after I long flight to Miami, I was too tired to look for the mandatory Cuban food spot and decided to save that for another night. This place a block from my hotel got good reviews, so figured that'll be fine. What a surprise! Fish was super fresh and flavors were on point. Only complaint is that it's on the pricey side (but I'm expensing anyway :-P ) Highly recommend if you're in the neighborhood.

This little sushi restaurant is quite a find!!! Their dishes are fresh, delicious and creative without breaking the bank. The restaurant is small but has a really cool vibe. I went with a group of 4 and we all shared different things and not one disappoint. Will definitely come back and try more things from this inventive menu. Downside is that parking can be challenging to find so I recommend taking a ride service.

I give them an A for creative rolls, I have my eyes on that Oreo roll next time... It's a pretty small place and filled up quick (we got there at 7p on a Sunday and sat right away but in 10 minutes it was full). They're quick, friendly, and welcoming. It's hard to choose what to order with so many interesting options, don't overthink it, but you should probably get the ceviche roll. Ahhh the sauce/juice it comes with to dip. It was good with all the other rolls, too. Can't wait to come back and work my way through the menu.

I finally got a chance to go to Kraken. I've been following them for a while now on Instagram. Oh also check out kraken lab. This is a cute smaller sized space, but definitely cozy. The service is fast and friendly. My only "ehh" was that we had changed our mind for an appetizer and switched from the tuna pizza to the kraken maki, but the server I guess did hear us correctly and we ended up with both. I didn't have the heart to send it back. Now food, we started with the kraken maki, which is delicious. Tender octopus with cilantro and smoked soy butter just melts in your mouth. Honestly that order could be a meal. The tuna pizza was good, but the kraken maki is the winner out of the two. For main rolls we went with the captain roll and the tuna truffle roll. They give you the option of rice, quinoa, or arugula to have it wrapped in. The captain we went regular rice and the tuna truffle we went with arugula. Both were excellent and very filling. I can't wait to go back and to also check out the lab. I am dying to try a cone out.

Cool vibes and love the presentation! They have one roll that had like goat cheese in it I think and that's such a weird thing to have but it was DELISH! The only think that didn't hit was the artichoke

The sushi was awesome. Highly recommend it. The truffle sushi items are SUPER unique. Don't miss getting those. The non sushi items were only okay. I'd recommend skipping those. The service was alright. We wish the waiter had come by a bit more. I'd recommend just coming for the sushi.

This little hole in the wall Sushi Fusion place was absolutely amazing‼ We had 8-9 dishes and everything was fresh , delicious and plentiful. Our waiter Eduardo was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu. We give this place and two thumbs up and will return.

Although Kraken Crudo seems like a small Sushi joint on the exterior, it is nothing short of spectacular. As a vegetarian, sushi is already a very limiting dish. However, kraken crudo has proved me otherwise. Their veggie truffle roll with pear, goat cheese, avocado, micro cilantro, arugula, topped with honey truffle is just- exquisite. It is by far the best sushi I've ever had, not just in Miami, but of all time. Their modern touch gives customers a chance to adhere to healthier options such as substituting quinoa or arugula in all of their rolls. The service is rather quick and also friendly, giving you an all around pleasurable experience. I already have so many things in mind that I still want to try for the next time I visit Kraken Crudo. This carefully crafted sushi spot will definitely surpass your sushi standards.

Had a craving for sushi but this place blew my mind! The Asian fusion menu here is really interesting and delicious, one of the most unique I've come across in a regular sushi restaurant. It's tapas style for the most part, so I recommend ordering a bunch of dishes and trying them all. We tried the tuna pizza, jalapeños popper roll, roasted kraken, and ceviche. All the dishes were delicious! Our unanimous favorite was the tuna pizza which we had to order a second time. It has the perfect crunchy crust with mix of sauces on top of the tuna, must try!!! The jalapeños popper roll was served toasted(?) which was strange having a cooked sushi roll, but it surprisingly tasted amazing. A little bit of heat, with cheesy top. Service was also phenomenal. Highly recommend!

Best sushi spot right outside of design district! Small and intimate setting, the open kitchen gives an authentic Japanese fee to the room. The servers were very knowledgeable of the food and drink menus. The classic rolls and special rolls are excellent - I recommend trying their eel.

Tuna and Truffle Roll: goat cheese, steamed shrimp, krab salad, avocado, tuna, aji amarillo, and truffle honey on top. Salmon Belly Crudo: salmon belly, smoked ponzu, ikura, and micro cilantro. The Light Red Roll: spicy tuna wrapped, salmon, steamed shrimp, chives, avocado, ikura, and aji amarillo on top. Kraken Maki: tender octopus, micro greens, and smoked soy butter. Unique rolls. Everything tasted fresh. Rolls were packed neatly with ample amounts of fish. Vibrant colors and delicious, refined flavors. Favorite roll was the Sailor Jerry followed by the Tuna and Truffle.

Ordered delivery and found the food to be very tasty. They offer what seemed like a Japanese Peruvian fusion menu. I really like that they offer single ingredient rolls (like the salmon roll or the tuna roll), which are surprisingly hard to come by on other delivery options in the area.

I went with my coworkers to this small, clean, hipster restaurant in Midtown. We had few of the lunch special : spicy tuna and salmon rolls, and chirashi bowl. The food is super fresh and healthy. The special comes with either a soup or sesame salad. Everything was amazing, including the outstanding service. We ended up with espresso on the house. Will definitely return

Sweet servers, good food. Price point is a bit high relative to what they are serving.

Pros: Healthy options, good portion of protein, the quinoa was cooked well. Cons: Miso soup was very salty, couldn't enjoy it even after adding water to dilute it. This was very disappointing because I was really craving miso soup.

I visited this location in error while trying to go to the kraken Lab location in upper buen vista but I was not disappointed. Very good food and service. Everything was very fresh. I enjoyed the menu because it offers different things that are not found in other places.

Not much when you walk by. I thought it was a tattoo parlor. Open the door and enjoy your dinner The Sushi was delightful They will make it with rice or quinoa or arugula I had the tuna and truffle roll rice The flavor profile was well balanced The sweet truffle honey with a drop or two of soy made the roll pop in my mouth I really recommend this restaurant

Great small sushi spot in Midtown/Edgewater. Unique sushi rolls and good happy hour food selection. Sushi was solid and service was great! Definitely going to be a staple when I want good sushi but do not want to drive far/want to stay low key for a night. Very happy that it is walking distance from me. Didn't take pics of the rolls, just the salmon crudo but all were great.

The best Ceviche I've ever had I could not stop talking about it the entire dinner! The sushi roll with truffle oil was absolutely delicious and unique as well. My friends and I just ate here tonight and we were impressed. One of my friends even commented on how fresh the wasabi tastes. Will definitely be back again when I'm in Miami!

Love love looooved this place! Super friendly service to begin with!!! Now let's talk about the food...! Pork baked gyozas to start, super tasty! Ceviche... omg (it has pear!!) absolutely delicious!! Wonderful mix of textures and flavor on every bite! (Must have). Kraken maki, wow wow wow!!! Octopus and potatoes deliciousss!! Small size but shareable!! Nori tacos.. very different mix of flavors but somehow it works!!! Moving on to the rolls- sailor jerry, very yummy!! But my favorite.... eel licious... omg!!! Soooo refreshing and soo tasty!!! But my super favoriteeeeee - oreo roll...!!! Plop! I died. Probably the best desert I've had in a while!!! Oreos, mascarpone cheese strawberries and kiwi... yup.. that's all folks!! It's a MUST!!! The place is a must!! Small, cozy and of course food was insane!! They killed it! :)
