Yelp
Wow, what a pleasant surprise! The hubs and I had no idea what we wanted for dinner one night and were browsing Yelp when we came across Krave. We are usually a bit skeptical about getting Korean food outside of Doraville or Duluth, but since it wasn't very far from where we were, we decided to give it a shot. We easily placed (and paid for) our take-out order through their website, and our food was ready in the estimated 15 minutes.
| Krave Platter | Chicken Bulgogi ($12.95) |
Each Krave Platter comes with "Your choice of protein, white rice and daily banchans." (Note: Banchans are Korean side dishes.) I'm not a fan of beef bulgogi, so I chose the chicken. The menu describes it as "Chicken in fruit based soy sauce," and it was exactly that! I thought the chicken bulgogi was flavorful and totally authentic, like something my umma (mom) makes.
The three banchan - green beans, spicy cucumbers, and corn with thin-sliced cabbage - also tasted homemade. I thoroughly enjoyed my whole meal!
| Krave Bowl| Steak Bulgogi ($10.50) |
The hubs ordered a Steak Bulgogi Krave Bowl. The main difference between the Krave Platter and Bowl is that the bowl doesn't come with any banchans. Although I don't like beef bulgogi, I had a taste of the hubs' steak bulgogi and thought it was delicious! It was honestly among the best beef bulgogi I've ever had!
| Mandu | Pork ($7.95) |
An order of Mandu includes 6 deep-fried Korean dumplings and a side of dipping sauce. The sauce tasted like your standard Korean mandu dipping sauce - a mixture of soy sauce, vinegar, red pepper flakes, and sesame seeds. I may be an odd one with this point, but I actually prefer the taste of frozen (store-bought) mandu over homemade, and I was totally expecting this to be of the frozen variety. But, once again, this tasted homemade! If you love homemade Korean dumplings that contain japchae (sweet potato noodles), you'll enjoy this!
Overall, Krave gets 4.5 stars, which I'm rounding up to 5 because I was that impressed by how good my meal was! If the hubs and I are "kraving" Korean take-out but don't want to drive to Doraville, we'll definitely go back to Krave - and I highly recommend you give them a try!
