12 Best Indian Restaurants in Charlotte | Eater Carolinas

"This quaint Indian-Nepali restaurant is at the back of a strip mall opposite Atrium Health Medical Plaza in Pineville. It offers fast counter-serve or online ordering options for vindaloos, sag, rogan josh, and a chicken chilly fry (like chicken 65). It also serves many Chinese-style hakka noodles and momos (think dumplings). Carry-out and pick-up are preferred, as the small dine-in area may not comfortably accommodate families or large groups." - Shindy Chen

Edited to add that the young gentleman told me that they could make pretty much any dish gluten-free as well! That it was not an issue. have to admit I’m not a connoisseur of Indian food. I had it years ago, I enjoyed it, but I had someone pick the meal for me because I’m not one for a lot of of heat. Spur of the moment - literally turned around and drove back after I passed it - stopped at Krazy Curry in Pineville. I had heard a friend rave about it earlier this year about how it was the best flavor wise, portions, the variety, perfect heat, etc. etc. Can I just say, wow! It’s a small place and honestly reminds me of a quiet deli. Very clean and understated. I went around 7:30 7:45 in the evening. Sat down and asked the young gentleman to make some suggestions based on the fact that I really didn’t know what I should try. He was absolutely spot on with everything! Can I just tell you I am addicted to the crunchy cauliflower! That’s my name for it. Oh my gosh, the flavor, sweet and tangy and it is really really crunchy which I personally loved. I’m not one for mushy cauliflower i’m not kidding. This is different than you would imagine and it’s wonderful! I think that those chicken dumplings that I ordered were the best I’ve had anywhere, the ginger was so flavorful they were excellent! And hello?! Where the heck has butter chicken been my entire life! That dish is just amazing. It is so creamy, so flavorful I literally could’ve eaten that over the rice and I would’ve been happy. He recommended that I get a mixed grill so that I can dip the meat and the butter chicken gravy. Excellent suggestion! The meats were tender and flavorful. The shrimp cooked perfectly and fresh. Nothing I had was overly spicy. I believe it was a 1 & 2 and it was perfect for me. The homemade Naan!?! I tried garlic and onion, and it was so amazing in my opinion! I love onion everything and they did a beautiful job in my opinion. The young lady and the young man that were in the front of House, as well as the woman that brought out the food - were very gracious, polite, really appreciated the recommendations he made so that I could sample a variety of methods ingredients flavors. If you haven’t been? If you’re new (or not) to Indian food? Definitely worth a visit! I kid you not when I say I could see myself having that butter, chicken and dumplings at least once a week 😍

This was my first time at this place. I walked in and was welcomed immediately. Suneel was very helpful and very sweet! My husband loves spice but doesn’t like it super hot. He got the Chicken Tikka Masala “hot” but tried my “krazy hot” and said he could go up a notch to “indian hot”. The Chicken 65 was delicious as well. All of the naan we got was delicious.I love heat and the krazy hot was perfect, had tons of flavor without just being hot. The service was quick as well. Super delicious, I will absolutely go back! There was a sweet couple in the corner that were enjoying their food as well.

Google
Mom and pop type shop. They offer different variations of heat (mild, medium, medium +, hot, Indian hot, and Krazy hot). I like a little spice so I went with the medium + for all of the delicious meals. Mango Chicken. Absolutely delicious. I think the mango outplayed the heat. It was more on the mild side with a little kick. Came out steaming hot on a sizzling pan. Had to let it cool down a bit but I definitely hafasasfasah’d my way through a bite or two. 2nd dish was lamb curry. The lamb is so good and tender it melts in your mouth. The sauce was delicious so I’m sure the chicken curry is just as good. 3rd dish was a vegetarian choice, Bhindi Masala - okra, onion, and tomato with so many seasonings you felt touched by the ancestors! I absolutely love okra and this was hitting!!! Had to get extra orders of the garlic naan for scooping (Iykyk). Finished it off with the Mango Lassie. That went down way too quick and easily. I wish you could order it by the pitcher! It’s a must try if you’re there. Before I left, they let me try a new dessert, rice pudding. I definitely hope they keep it on the menu. It was the perfect lite dessert after complaining I had “no room left”. The only thing that would’ve made it any better would be a touch of cinnamon on top…just my opinion. You get real nice portions for the price. Come prepared to eat! Overall they get 2 thumbs up. Great food. This is easily one of the best Indian spots around…especially if you like more homemade mom and pop shops over Americanized and under seasoned places. I am now a regular here. Once you try it, you will be a regular too!

Google
As soon as we walked in we were greeted, staff is so kind and easygoing. It was our first time and definitely not the last. The food had good portions and the price is great. Service was also amazing, was checked up on multiple times, got the food in a timely manner and everything was very hot. Definitely recommend if you want to get affordable indian food in the area.

Google
Nice clean place with very tasty food. We had the veggie momos, saag paneer, chicken tikka, seekh kababs, garlic naan & tandoori rotis. The chicken tikka was simply delish.. the seekh kababs were yummy but slightly dry. Overall great meal and ambience

Google
Delicious Indian food with plenty of vegan options. Samosas are fantastic, Aloo Jeera is delicious, Bhindi Masala and Dal Tadka are a must try. Chana Masala is good and our kids love the vegetable fried rice and Hakka noodles. The chef adjusts the spiciness levels from 1-10. For us level 3 was a good medium.

Google
Food was great,! Was looking for a good Indian restaurant ever since Jaipur on South Boulevard closed down. We had the tiki masala and the butter chicken and lamb curry, best personal preferences the Tiki Masala was very good. We went to Carowinds and we're looking for a place to eat, we went there three times Carowinds and came here three times. Unfortunately the plates were empty for our photo, forgot to make a review and tell we were finished.

Yelp
Favorite curry restaurant in Charlotte!! My brother & I love the butter chicken. Portion size & price are perfect. The workers are always so kind too.

Yelp
I have been to Krazy Curry several times. Consistently great food and excellent customer service. Has a menu with lots of variety including a great variety for vegetarians. We will be back.

Yelp
Low key indian spot in Pineville. They have multiple locations Service is very nice - the server is very patient and accommodating with us Food - Bread basket: galore! Fresh and warm. I like that they're not salted or overly salted as other places so that you can balance with the curries. - Great Vegetarian AND vegan options too. So a great place for both meat and vegan peeps

Judy C.

Yelp
Our new favorite spot! The chicken biryani and butter chicken momo is insanely good! Friendly service and vibes.

Yelp
I think there was a different place here before but that's okay because Krazy Curry is better. My wife is an Indian food fan and of all the Indian we've had in Charlotte - along South Tryon and along South Blvd - we've found her new favorite. We were here between lunch and dinner so the full menu is available except they don't have the naan oven going. Bummer. Two curries, two huge platters of rice and some drinks. We had a lovely meal. Flavorful, spicy without being hot and absolutely delicious. Next time, we'll be back when it's dinner time and we can get naan. [Review 1783 of 2024 - 3702 in North Carolina - 22806 overall]

Yelp
Indian is my favorite cuisine & I've eaten here a couple of times. Their food is a solid 4, to me. Love that it isn't salty like some places, wish it were a bit spicier though. Yum, that Samosa Chaat!! Great service, family owned. Ample parking.

Yelp
Krazy Curry hits the spot when the Indian food cravings strike! On a Saturday evening, we called in our order for pick-up and were told it'd be ready in 25 minutes. We timed our arrival accordingly, but still had to wait a bit for our food to come out. We ordered the lamb roganjosh, matar paneer, and aloo paratha. Although we specified that spice level for both dishes should be mild, the matar paneer was notably spicier (what I would describe as medium). Fortunately, it wasn't too much for us, but the inconsistency was unexpected and could be a negative for those who really can't handle much spice. The potato-filled paratha was a nice texture and portion size. I'd get this again and would like to try some of their other breads as well.

Arsenio Q.

Yelp
Friendly staff, this place has its own app. And it's reliable. The food was good too . Ordered medium heat butter chicken for pick up. The portion sizes are massive. So keep in mind when ordering. Quality food quality service. When you walk in, you just know your foods are going to be amazing. If you are unsure, it's located on the far end of the plaza. It's easy to miss, but you will regret it if you do. Absolutely coming back for more.

Yelp
This was such a delicious treat! Unassuming atmosphere, and everything was incredible. Service was fast and friendly.

Yelp
First time here. Decided to try this Indian restaurant since we are in the area often. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food was pretty good, not the best, but by no means bad in any way. One thing to note is that you're given the option of mild, medium, or hot. I chose medium, and I can stand very hot spicy food. The medium was extremely hot. So just keep that in mind. Overall I would definitely say do not hesitate to come here and try this Indian restaurant. I will be back, and will try the biryani next. A bit pricy, the food in the pictures that you see cost $29.

Yelp
recently visited Krazy Curry, and I must say, I was not disappointed! The staff were incredibly friendly, making for a welcoming atmosphere from the moment I walked in. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Garlic Naan, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. If you're a fan of Indian cuisine, I highly recommend giving this place a try!

Yelp
Amazing service, they are so kind and attentive. This is the best Indian food I've had in Charlotte. The chicken tikka masala with garlic naan is incredible. Inside is nice and quiet as well.

Elva E.

Yelp
Perfect amount of spice place smelled so good, try it out if you like Indian the waiter was very kind

Rachel S.

Yelp
Wow! The food was delicious! We had the Samosa Chaat appetizer, I got Paneer Masala and my husband got the Lamb Rogan Josh & delicious garlic naan. An unassuming place with lots of great flavor!
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
Delicious food -- each curry is unique to itself, with complex flavors and depth. Heat is not required to enjoy meals here, but if you choose the spicier side of life the bold flavors still come through. Service for in store dining is very slow and I was left unattended for a good 15 minutes before I could flag a server for the check. However to go is expedient and my order is always correct. Be sure to grab some veggie samosas and garlic na'an! You won't regret it!
google avatar

Carlos G.

Yelp
Matar paneer, lamb rogan Josh, and aloo paratha were all great! The matar paneer was the stand out dish for me but the lamb rogan josh was delicious too. Excited to try some of the other dishes on the menu next time!

Yelp
AMAZING!!!!! From start to finish it was a true delight to go. And it is now our go to spot for Indian food. The wait staff is wonderful and very helpful. They are patient when it comes to those that are there for the first time. We ordered the lamb tikki masala, several naan bread and a spicy goat curry. They were all delicious and worth the wait. Also though it is in a strip mall. We have gone back to them repeatedly. Worth the wait!!!!
google avatar

Soldby C.

Yelp
I ordered Togo and the service was great. I was greeted immediately and since it was my first time they gave me plenty of time to look over the menu and helped make a selection. The ambiance was really chilled and the place was really clean. Once I got to the hotel and tried the food I knew I found my new Indian restaurant! The goat curry was so tender and well seasoned. The garlic naan was soft and the vegetable pakora was chef kiss! Will definitely be going back.
google avatar

F B.

Yelp
Korma.. wonderful Chicken Korma. The chicken was so tender tonight, you wanted more. So I asked for an extra bit of sauce to make the dish go a little further and dip the excellent naan in.. wonderful experience and great value! The richness of the flavors has made this one of my favorite places. The ambiance is very lunch diner oriented, but some of the best date night joints are!
google avatar

Omer G.

Yelp
Friendly family business. Husband and wife owned Nepali restaurant with homey vibes. Prices are reasonable. I can confidently say naan is the best among all the Charlotte-area Indian restaurants. I've sampled nearly all of them.

Lauren W.

Yelp
Great service and food. The ambiance is very warm, friendly and welcoming. I would definitely come back to this place!
google avatar

Sandee S.

Yelp
I will be quick. We came here based on a 4.7 review average. The ambiance is a 1. A few old tables and chairs with a pretty shabby floor. The service was absent. The food was all over cooked, dry and had little variation in flavor. Tables left unbussed for an hour. Will not return.

Morgan I.

Yelp
The server was funny and attentive and the food was great! Both the entrees and the desserts were amazing. Definitely coming back!

Jailyn M.

Yelp
SO YUMMY! My husband and I have been here twice and it's easily some of the best Indian food we've ever had. We've gotten the garlic naan, Tandoori chicken (medium) and the Chicken Chilly Fry (medium). All of it is delicious even down to the white rice that comes on the side. I brought friends from out of town to this spot and they also loved it! Service was also great when we decided to eat at the restaurant! 10/10

Yelp
Everything about our visit to Krazy Curry was fantastic. Our waitress was friendly and warm, and had no problem making recommendations. When she sat the food in front of us, the aroma was incredible. I knew it was going to be great - and I was right!! So rich and flavorful. They will tailor the spice level for you, too. We all loved it and will definitely go back!

Teri G.

Yelp
We've had takeout from this excellent restaurant a few times, and today we ate lunch at Krazy Curry. Service is friendly, fast and I was offered a refill on my unsweetened iced tea. We love the vast menu selections here, even though we prefer vegan/vegetarian options. We had the veggie mo-mo's, the vegan samosa chat and the vegan wheat roti. Food was fresh, very delicious and spiced perfectly without being too hot (like Southern Indian often is for me). We highly recommend Krazy Curry and will be back again very soon!

Ella H.

Yelp
Incredible restaurant all around! The chicken pakora and vegetable samosas are incredible, and the butter chicken and garlic naan are UNREAL! The food is always hot, and the service is so fast! Employees are so nice and incredibly friendly. Overall a fantastic restaurant.
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
We were super pleased to see a whole vegan section on the menu. The chef made us a gobi Manchurian that was delicious! I had a bindi masala and my husband had aloo gobi. All of the food was delicious and d the service was very good. We will absolutely be back!
google avatar

Ashok P.

Yelp
Nice menu, would be better if cuisines from Tamilnadu and Kerala are included and chettinadu menu!
google avatar

Sam S.

Yelp
The best Indian cuisine in Charlotte NC I tried their first original location takeout spot near the Amtrak station And just opened another location on South Blvd

Steve R.

Yelp
Service was good, but the food was fantastic. Some of the best Indian food I've had, and very reasonably priced for generous portions.
google avatar

Denise B.

Yelp
If you love Naan this is going to be your favorite place! Plus the Samosas are jut incredible! Some of the best in South Charlotte -- The restaurant needs some fine tuning -- they really try and the dishes reflect that. It is family owned and very clean. Butter Chicken was good and so was the Paneer. I will for sure come back! Take a look at my pictures !
google avatar

Don N.

Yelp
Ordered in a beautiful special for two, enjoyed all week. Highly recommend for authentic flavor and perfect takeaway/delivery.

Heather B.

Yelp
We order take-out from here very often. I LOVE the lamb korma. Everyone in my family loves their food. I highly recommend it. I have no comment about the ambiance because we only get take-out.

Michelle G.

Yelp
My husband and I wanted Indian cuisine and we discovered Krazy Curry. The service was friendly, courteous and great. The appetizers and main course were excellent! I highly recommend Krazy Curry. We will definitely return.

Denise G.

Yelp
Mediocre at best. We were so sad Bombay Grill closed down and we're hoping this place would fill those big shoes. Sadly it doesn't even come close.

Yelp
I've reviewed this restaurant on google and now that this is my third order Id thought I place my review here . Amazing as always. Was craving some Indian food and ordered food from here . I got the lamb tikka masala, galub jamun, chicken fritters , and butter naan which was buy one get one free. Let's just say I am in a food coma. The lamb was so soft and tender , the sauce was so good, just could drink it out the bowl if I was insane enough haha . Also love the green sauce , right amount of kick and flavor and I love the tamarind sauce so bought a side of that . The naan was buttery , soft pillow delight and galub jamun was heaven but i could only eat one. I will continue to support amazing eateries like this one

Jonathan C.

Yelp
I lived in the SF Bay Area for 20 years, my standards are very high for Indian food. Krazy Curry is SO good, it could definitely stand its own in SF. For the Charlotte area, this is hands down the best spot. I've eaten here 3 times so far, the food and service are consistently fabulous. The naan is perfectly baked, the chicken is super-tender, the vindaloo has the right kick, the sag paneer is amazing. The gobi manchurian is a uniquely delicious dish.
google avatar

Elaine R.

Yelp
This was our first time visiting Krazy Curry. We were looking for some tasty comfort food on a rainy day and Krazy Curry did not disappoint! The interior isn't anything fancy, but don't let that fool you. It's clean and orderly. The amount of to-go orders heading out while we were there was shocking & a good sign as to how popular the restaurant is. The menu isn't huge, but for us it was just right! Plenty of selections and protein options. The service was good. Food arrived piping hot and seasoned as stated. We left full and with leftovers. This seemed more like a mom& pop type of restaurant and we will definitely be back! UPDATE- sounds Krazy, but we have been craving curry since our last visit. Went recently and it was exactly as the first time! Delicious, filling, quality food. I would like to add... Indian food is known for being spicy. Don't let that scare you. Krazy Curry has a 1-10 scale the server will help you navigate so the spice level will be just right.

Philip B.

Yelp
Small Indian restaurant with great lamb entrees. This is my go to spot for lunch if i am nearby. I also like that is not busy, so I normally get good service.
google avatar

Rohit S.

Yelp
Newly opened. We tried during lunch hours. We loved their chicken korma, garlic naan and samosa. We will return again to try more dishes

Colorado G.

Yelp
This is a newer family owned restaurant in a location where a fast food Indian establishment used to be pre-Covid. We have had lunch there twice and were not disappointed. The strip mall is somewhat low traffic, which is great for parking but not for visibility. However, we also noticed they had people picking up takeout orders at a steady pace. Out of all the dishes we tried, the following stand out as being better than a majority of restaurants in the area. - Gobi Manchurian - Lamb Seekh Kabob. This was really good. Try the Mixed Grill for variety. - Goad Curry - Chicken Biryani - Garlic Naan If you want to support a hard working family and get great food, do visit them.

Yelp
This is an order at the counter type place but the employees sat us at a table and took our orders. They were so sweet. Garlic Naan and chicken masala were YUM. I def recommend you swing by when in Pineville!

Chad B.

Yelp
The food is excellent! I really like their butter chicken dish. My experience with the staff has been pleasant.

Kim T.

Yelp
Great food! We had an appetizer of momo and then shahi paneer and butter naan. Everything was perfectly spiced for our taste.

Ed F.

Yelp
Found this place recently and it smelled so good from the parking lot I just had to give it a go. Really good Indian or Pakistani food is rare as a Stradivarius in this region, so whenever I see a place, I try it. I'm a recent transplant from Los Angeles, where these restaurants are common, and I was lucky thru the years to have many coworkers and friends who were Indian nationals, that schooled me in the finer points of their cuisine. I developed a strong, almost fanatical, taste for and love of it. They're new in this location, and the Bhakta Karki family owners are warm, friendly, and truly devoted to producing the highest quality and expression of Indian delicacies. I sat at a table and was greeted immediately. The decor was bright and colorful, with parasols hung from the ceiling in a beautiful pastiche of traditional weddings. Wonderful Indian music played at a comfortable volume, and made the short wait for my order of Butter Chicken, Basmati rice, and Garlic Naan a relaxing interlude. The presentation of the food was simple and perfect - everything hot, mouth-wateringly fragrant, and nicely portioned to provide at least 2 full meals. A fold of the Naan, a quick dip in the thick, rich curry sauce - upped my expectations - and the first bite confirmed them. Complexly created, with just the right amount of medium spicy heat, tender strips and chunks of white meat chicken, and the fluffy Naan covered in freshly roasted minced garlic had me back in the gastronomic heaven of one of my favorite foods. I'll be back, and often - can't wait to try the lamb curry, Biryani, and other delights on the well-apportioned menu!

Yelp
Garlic naan was amazing but it's not hard to make good naan. I got Uber Eats so I don't know how the service is or atmosphere. I ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala and got Tofu idk. Despite it being tofu the sauce was just off. it was sweet and spiced in the wrong ways. I'm not familiar with Indian spices so I am unable to say what is right and what is wrong. My taste bud knows this was a weird taste. I got a deal on the food, it was cheap. I can see why..

Ali H.

Yelp
This my my new favorite Indian food in Charlotte! Everything was delicious! The garlic nann is craveable! We had butter chicken, sage paneer and vegetable korma. Each dish was packed with the protein or veg. Most other places it's all sauce, not here! You could taste how freshly made this is! The samosa was huge! I could've split one with all the other food. Everyone there is super nice as well. Highly recommend!!

Chad M.

Yelp
Really solid Indian cuisine. Had the chicken tikka masala and chicken soup. Full of flavor and tender. Place was half full and took about 30 min to get food, so kinda of slow. Will def go back if I'm in the area. My fav is still Tabla.
