"The Inn at Montchanin Village & Spa is known for its whimsical appeal and rustic cuisine at their festive Krazy Kat’s restaurant. Lightly dusted soft-shell crab, citrus poached shrimp cocktails, venison mole, and citrus Gochujang glazed tuna are some of the exceptional dishes on their vast menu." - Ernest Owens

Loved this farm to table restaurant! The restaurant has unique and corky decor that creates a cozy environment. The food was very tasty and fresh. I'm excited to come again and stay at the lodge next time- thank you Krazy Kat's!

This vegetarian had her first “steak” in over 30 years! It’s off menu and cost who-knows what, but very tasty, with a meaty chew. Maybe more like Jack-fruit pulled pork. But a treat, and such a big serving I had leftovers the next day. Super fun staff, and silly posh atmosphere. Pricey but worth it.

This restaurant is adorable inside and the food was terrific, however the service was terrible. Our server never introduced herself or even spoke to us. We couldn't find her half the time. It took us an hour before we started eating, and she never returned to the table to see if we needed anything else. A different server brought our food out to the table from the kitchen. And there weren't that many other people in the restaurant, so we were pretty disappointed with the service. And since there were 10 of us, they charged 20% service charge, and also a blank line for additional tip, which we did not give. They even tried to cover up the 20% tip/service charge by signing their name real big across that line on the bill. I guess they thought we'd just look at the bottom line and pay that and then add another 20% tip!

Let me share with you my experience with Krazy Kat's and save you the possible disaster: 1) I make a reservation for a dinner date with my wife about a month in advance. I write to reserve the two top table center in the room by the cat statue and fireplace. When I get there, I am told... "Oh someone requested that before you... I mean I just looked at this reservation just now..." This was after I was made to wait standing at an empty entry area and bar. 2) We didn't get the seating of our choice, so we are offered a different table. This table was not even set, no flowers on the table, no candle lit, unlike every other table in the room. To make matters worse, I get to see the people who took my table due to her malfeasance. 3) We order drinks and the main course, after some time later I get my drink and are appalled! They put my bourbon inside of a wine glass, with an orange garnish on it! I was embarrassed 4) We finish our waters quite quickly, as it was summer and quite hot in the establishment. I am not exaggerating when I say that EVERY single other table was offered water multiple times, while we had our glasses empty the entire meal. They passed with the water pitcher multiple times throughout our time there but only went to check in on other diners. 5) I ordered the Blackened Salmon with Shrimp Etouffe, and I understand that salmon is a difficult fish to cook properly... but I expect a chef of a restaurant of this caliber... and one that charges 40 dollars for a 6 dollar salmon cut, would be AT LEAST be able to cook it properly. The salmon was dry, overcooked, and lacking in the one thing in its namesake (THE PEPPER) 6) I am now halfway done my meal, glass empty, when the hostess comes up with the flowers and places them on the table. She does not light the candle, she does not even pass a moments thought of us before rushing back to the bar. The server did not check in on us once to ask how anything was, nor to see if we required anything... Despite doing so to every single other patron in the establishment. 7) I am now embarrassed, upset, thirsty, saddened, and in pain due to the very uncomfortable chairs, and the treatment we had received. Despite my better judgement, we decided to split a takeaway dessert. I expected, especially since multiple other patrons asked for a takeaway dessert, that the restaurant would be capable of providing an adequate receptacle for their own food, seeing as they do make it and such. But when I was handed the check, with the dessert, it was smashed into a glorified Tupperware container. 8) The check came out to roughly 130 dollars for the two meals, two drinks, and a shared dessert. Despite my better judgement again, I tipped the waitress... For what exactly I do not know... I have received better service at a failing Chinese buffet, and I have tasted better food from nearly any fast food establishment. After the tip, I payed 150 dollars. When I left and returned to my room at the Inn. I felt robbed, not only of my money, but of the experience, the service, and satisfaction of knowing the place actually cared enough to do what is right. My wife and I candidly shared the same opinion after moments into being seated... Should have just went to Chick-Fil-A... at least the food would have been moist, the service would be with a smile, and someone would be pleasured to have our business.

Everything was delicious. Disappointed there wasn't Tarimusu on the dessert menu. They make the best. Maybe next time. Scallops with crab meat on top was delicious 😋. Otherwise a beautiful time once again

So Krazy Kat's is one of those places; completely unique and completely homely if you want it to be. It's an amazing dining experience and at the same time it can be intimidating if you have not been here. But don't worry. Chef Corey is amazing and Kimberley is wonderful. She makes one of the best Old-fashioned that I've had in a while.

The service and food was top notch. The appetizers were great, as well as the drinks. We got the scallops and farmhouse burger and both were very tasty and flavorful. Shout out to our server, Javier, who was working hard but gave exceptional service and made great drinks. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
We booked a 5PM reservation to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. Arrived about ten to five and were waiting in the car for the restaurant to open. We saw some people go in, so we grabbed our umbrellas (it was raining) and headed toward the door. Door was locked. We could see workers walking about inside so we again knocked on the door. (It was raining). At first we were ignored. Eventually someone raised a be right with you finger and we thought that meant they would open the door. They did not. We stood in the rain and knocked again and watched the hostess stand behind the hostess desk and not move. Finally at five she walked over and we could hear the door lock unlatch but she did not open the door or greet us. We walked in quite distressed over their rudeness. They were not conciliatory in any way and said they don't open till five and they had to run the vacumn. First of all they could have opened the door and said they weren't open yet but we would be welcome to step inside out of the rain and wait to be seated. They have an area by the coat check where we would not have been in the way. Secondly, but even more importantly, they should have opened the door at five and greeted us. I was appalled at the overall rudeness. We had some flowers delivered to our table. I asked them to please give me our flowers and that we were leaving. We took our business and our large gratuity (since the pandemic we are very generous tippers whenever we dine out) and left. Two days later, Open Table reservations contacted us and said that we were reported as a no show. The unmitigated gall of this establishment seemed to have no limit. My suggestion, take your patronage somewhere else where rudeness is not at the top of the menu.

Yelp
Rarely I do this, give restaurants 5 stars. This one deserves it. After 2 visits I am convinced. Food is exceptional. It's not fancy but fresh, delicious, well portioned and presented. Service is great. Friendly but not familiar, attentive, knowledgeable. Atmosphere is classic but not staid, and paintings of cats and dogs in uniforms adds funk. Prices are reasonable, considering the restaurant location and atmosphere. Good for special occasions or when you need a good meal. 5 people. Appetizers, main entry, 2 drinks each came to $280 before tip.

Yelp
Bad decision to eat here. Started off that my husband's cocktail had 2 flies in the bottom. They made him a new one but did not apologize, let alone comp it. I ordered Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Sandwich. At $26.00 you would assume fresh crab. Nope. Canned and tasted old. Restaurant only had a few tables occupied at our 12:30 pm reservation time and yet the service was terrible. The waitress was not friendly. Sad experience considering how beautiful the location is.

Yelp
I've thought long before posting this note on Krazy Kats restaurant at the Inn at Montchanin. I take no pleasure in what I'm about to say. This is like breaking up with an old friend, and it's upsetting. My wife and I moved to the Brandywine Valley in 1996, about the same time Krazy Kats opened. We found it almost right away and loved everything about it. Indeed, we've been using it for celebration dinners on and off ever since. For our anniversary this past December, I went up on Open Table to make a reservation. The only time available for that evening was 8:00 - perfect for us - and I took it. We pulled into the parking lot at 8:04. My wife went in to grab the table while I parked. She got to the host station at 8:07. When I walked into the restaurant, she was still standing at the station. The kid behind it was almost shaking. It appears that despite our reservation, despite the reservation clearly being marked as an anniversary celebration, and despite Open Table's note about reservations being honored within 15 minutes of booking time, the chef, who is also Krazy Kats' manager, had closed the kitchen at 8 sharp and refused to seat us. I asked the kid if I could talk to the chef. He said that wasn't possible. I asked again. He seemed so frightened by the prospect that I realized there was no point in persisting, and after 28 years of coming to the restaurant, we sadly - truly sadly - walked out. We both knew we'd never walk back in again. As we got to the door, a couple staying in one of the hotel's cottages were about to come in for dinner. They asked us how it was. We told them what happened. They turned and followed us out. Turns out they'd just checked into the hotel and were ready for dinner, a not unreasonable thought at 8, but if the kitchen was closed, it was closed. Exclamation point. We recommended a few local possibilities for them. Which should be the end of this, but there's more to the story, giving even more finality to its ending. The next morning, I called the hotel and left a message for the hotel's manager. She called back within a half hour. I told her our story. She seemed quite sympathetic. She said this didn't sound right to her and she would look into it. She promised to get back to me by the next day. That was three weeks ago. I'm still waiting. We've gotten her message - and Krazy Kats' -- loud and clear.

Yelp
Every single time we have enjoyed an excellent meal. Our must "out of town" stop! Service, food, ambiance!

Yelp
The reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 1 is because they've handled the situation in a professional manner. It was my 4 years anniversary with my boyfriend on Monday, August 8th. He always raved about this restaurant when we first started dating. Finally, I gave it a shot since it was on our special day. Our reservation was for 7 PM. We arrived 5 minutes after because the parking situation was a little odd. We parked across the street in the spa section. We were promptly seated upon arrival. It didn't look busy and we were a good distance away from 2 other parties. The best thing about our dinner was our bread & butter. Warm bread and soft butter. Yum! It took our server over 20 minutes to bring out our deviled eggs and Brussels sprouts after our bread. An extra 30 minutes for our entree to arrive. Bread & butter (6/5) was delightful. The deviled eggs (3/5) tastes homemade. The bacon seemed like yesterday's leftovers decorated on top. Brussels sprouts (1.5/5) had a weird combo of minced garlic, capers, and lemons to it. I enjoyed the charred texture. Jumbo Lump Crab Cake (1/5) The pieces were HUGE but didn't meet my expectations to say the least. Was not FRESH. Had a weird aftertaste. Took a few bites and that was it. The veggies were a lot better. Halibut (0/5) was raw centered and covered with salt and pepper to masked the fishy taste. The filet (1/5) was raw and bloody after my boyfriend said he would like for it to be cooked well done. Everything was below average and I was highly disappointed. We did felt really bad about it because I hate complaining and wasting food. They did accommodate us for the bill which I did appreciate. They wanted to give us a free dessert but I was really turned off as of that point. Maybe it was one of those unlucky nights for all of us. They were apologetic. So were we. Don't think I will be returning, even though I do want to support local businesses during these tough times.

Yelp
The food was delicious. There were four of us and we all had an amazing dinner. Service was very good. The ambiance was elegant and this was a birthday celebration so it was perfect.

Yelp
A small group of us ate dinner recently at the restaurant after a large event the prior day. It was a terrible meal for most of us. In fact, we were comped two of the scallop meals due to one overcooked with burned, dry brussel sprouts and the other completely undercooked and served quite a bit after the rest of the table were served entrees. The chicken was dried out to a crisp and the other three meals were adequate at best. After expressing our concerns an argument with the evening manager ensued - quite unpleasant. We do not recommend the restaurant. It may have been a different chef the evening we dined compared to many positive reviews listed. The Inn and grounds are lovely. Montcharin needs the food to be of equivalent quality.

Nicki N.

Yelp
Apparently it is very difficult to get in to this restaurant... today we had a reservation for noon... tried to get one at 12:30 but none were available. We sat in a room with many tables. We were the only people there for the first hour and then one more group of two people joined the room. There were probably six tables or more still available in that room. It took more than an hour and a half before we got our food. I had a watermelon Caprese salad, which was absolutely delicious. I should've just gotten a large and stuck with that. I also had a 1/2 eggs Benedict which was not really great... The hollandaise sauce was broken and looked like runny yolk laying across the top of my eggs Benedict and there was no hint of lemon in it. Other people in my group had an omelette and mushroom Swiss burger and I can't remember the last They looked OK but not really anything to write home about. And the restaurant is very cute and the area is just beautiful. The food was quite pricey and quality not what I would expect for the price. Oh, I forgot to mention they have a very spicy bloody Mary that was quite tasty. I forgot to take pics today and I still can't figure out why it's so hard to get into an empty restaurant.

Yelp
The dishes were well prepared, served by very friendly lady. The restaurant is located in a nice environment with countryside surroundings ...

Yelp
Krazy Kats is awesome! The food, ambience, service and the entire experience is fantastic! Very eclectic with paintings of dogs and cats on the walls in a building that looks to be 100 years old but very well maintained. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Great food; great service; in a warm & beautiful place! A family birthday celebration with wine, assorted appetizers, entrees and sides - all delicious!

Yelp
Lacking in customer service. The waitress never filled up our drinks. Never checked up on us. Gave recommendations to all of the other tables but not to us.... I was very disappointed with my experience here. The food was alright but was overly pricey. This location is definitely targeted towards an older audience.

Yelp
I have been going here for over 10 years and have never had a bad meal here. We have dined here for dinner 3 times in the past few months, brunch over the years and one Thanksgiving a few years back. The decor is still whimsical and fun. The menu, post-pandemic, is a bit more safe as it relies on some old favorites rather than those more eclectic dishes like elk and skate wing. Perhaps as the pandemic winds down and dining out becomes more the trend, this will change. My recent trips to Krazy Kats included the crab bisque which had plenty of lump crab, the duck entree, the scallop entree and the salmon entree. Accompanying veg and starch varies. Definitely returning.

Yelp
Driving through area around lunch time on a Sunday and found Krazy Kat's. Menu looked interesting and very cute surroundings. Went into a completely empty restaurant. We were asked if we had a reservation and were turned away. Apparently they couldn't be bothered.

Yelp
Impressive decoration, not so impressive dishes. It will be nice if quality of food worth the price

Yelp
We were staying at a nearby Inn and really just chose Krazy Kat's for convenience at first. The food was excellent and the restaurant was very charming. There was only 1 server that night for the whole restaurant but she was great and there was no excessive waiting or other issues. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Lovely dinner and stay at he hotel. Highly recommend. Food was delicious and service was very good and kind

Yelp
Sunday brunch here was superb! I am rating Krazy Kat's 5 stars in every aspect. The outside of the building is beautifully landscaped with colorful flowers. Stepping inside, we were immediately greeted by a friendly young hostess who led us through the main room and into a cheerful front room decorated with whimsical cat artwork (see photo). The room had lots of windows and was spacious and airy. The view of the trees and gardens outside was relaxing. We started with a Bloody Mary ($8) and oysters ($9). (See photos). We loved that the oysters were already loosened from the shell so we could slide them right into our mouths. Next we had soup ($6 each), Crab Bisque for my husband and Stone Fruit Gazpacho for me. When I tell you that Gazpacho was divine, I mean I considered canceling my entree order and just getting 5 more cups of that incredible soup! I didn't want the experience of savoring it to end. For our entrees we ordered Eggs Benedict made with Imperial Crab ($12) and Vegan Meatloaf ($17). I am not vegan but I always enjoy seeing what a talented and creative chef can do with only plant based ingredients, and will often order a vegan entree in a restaurant. This vegan meatloaf rocked! It had a great hearty texture and a complex spicy flavor, with just enough heat to make it exciting but not painful on my tongue. It was presented in an appealing way, too. (See photo). Our servers were attentive, calm, and very pleasant. We loved the whole ambiance and experience. It was truly a special brunch!

Yelp
Krazy Kats - Near Wilmington (https://krazykatsde.com) Warning: LONG Post so buckle up. I wasn't expecting much here. I chose this place because my son has a SERIOUS cat obsession and just thought he'd like seeing the zany cat and dog pics on the walls. I almost canceled my reservation a few times since the reviews were not very convincing and the website didn't make it seem very high-end. It was someone in this group that recommended it but can't find the original thread now. Instead of a mediocre meal, I fell in love with this place..... We were "all" so warmly welcomed here. "All" means that my son brought his two stuffed animal cats and they sat at the table too. We had the crab bisque, lamb chops over autumn vegetables , seared duck over white chocolate polenta and green beans, and chicken fingers with mashed potatoes (guess who ordered that) and opera slices chocolate cake and creme brulee with berries along with an old-fashioned and a glass of Pinot Grigio. Every single bite for me was just a journey into sublime yumminess. The duck was seasoned and seared to perfection. I rarely let myself eat bread with butter or eat cream-based soups but they were both just spectacularly delicious with lots of big pieces of crab in the bisque. For my hubby, he could not stop raving about the white chocolate polenta.... which could have been a stand alone dish topped with the roasted vegetable. Would love to get the back-story on it since it's such an unusual pairing. The creme brulee, which is often disappointing, was blow torched to sugary perfection. The ambience was both whimsical and eclectic but also refined and romantic with the fireplace, fresh red roses, soft music, comfortable chairs and candles. The service and hospitality was just unparalleled. They were MUCH more kid-friendly than we were expecting. They were so welcoming to my son and his "kitties", they even brought them a little plate of food. They also brought my shrunken human a huge box of crayons and a one inch thick kids activity books with coloring, mazes, etc. He was thoroughly entertained and didn't want to leave. I realize that my overly glowly review sounds fake at this point. ( It would be my dream to be a paid restaurant critic but oh well). So here is some very minor nitpicking. My Pinot Grigio was not bad but just didn't pair well with the food. I don't eat lamb but hubby said that his lamb chops were ok but not outstanding.... just kind of "meh". The descriptions on the website don't fully describe the details and don't showcase the high-level gourmet quality of their offerings. Overall, this place completely knocked it out of the park in terms of the high-level of its food, ambience and hospitality. It was extremely memorable on many levels and I wish we could eat here every month. Thank you Krazy Kats!

Yelp
There were spelling errors on the menu. We were unimpressed with service from our waitress and the food was mediocre. The bus boy was the exception to our experience- he was great!

Hayley J.

Yelp
as a cat lady i had to come here when i saw the name of the business. I love this place! The outside is very cute and the food was delicious. I got the duck and it was expertly prepared. Definitely would go back if i lived in the area. The menu was smaller but a lot of good options. I would consider this more so fine dining and a good place to take your parents. It seems more family / older crowd oriented

Mariellen E.

Yelp
We went to Krazy Kats for my birthday dinner and everything was delicious. We each got a cocktail (pretty strong - you are getting your moneys worth there). Then for appetizers we got the crab bisque and the calamari. The calamari was pretty standard but the crab bisque was delicious! Creamy and flavorful. For our entrees, I got the scallops and my husband got the lamb osso bucco. Both were big portions and very tasty. The dining room was fun, with a big fire going in the fireplace and dog and cat portraits on the wall. This is a great place for a special occasion dinner.

Yelp
I'm not sure how it took me so long to try Krazy Kat's, but BF and I finally had dinner for a nice Friday night date and had an enjoyable time. It's a bit confusing to find the restaurant in the dark --- you wind up parking a few minute walk away near the spa, and it can be easy to miss the restaurant signage that you pass on the way to the parking lot. The atmosphere is unique, with portraits, statues, and artwork featuring cats and dogs and antique-y furniture. Service was friendly and attentive. I ordered a caramel apple mule as my drink, which was quite sweet and not necessarily mule-like --- decent, but I don't think I'd order it again. For appetizer, we ordered the bacon-wrapped scallops, which were okay. The bacon was thick and smoky, which overpowered the scallop flavor. There was butternut squash puree beneath the scallops that was delicious, though. Our next course consistent of Field Greens Salad for me --- a blend of fresh veggies and a gingery dressing which was good, but not standout. BF had crab bisque, which was a meal highlight for him. When it comes to entrees, Krazy Kat's offers two options for sizing. There's a "half" portion, which includes 3-4 oz of meat instead of the full. As someone who often can't finish her entree if I order appetizer and salad, I really appreciated the option to order a reasonably priced half entree so that I didn't feel like I was wasting food or money. I ordered the salmon, which was excellent and came with risotto. We also ordered a side of brussels sprouts, which were delicious. Unfortunately, I'm delayed in reviewing, so BF doesn't remember his entree, but that probably says something about it. For dessert, we chose the creme brulee and had no complaints. Our meal was fairly expensive, but enjoyable. Overall, would recommend for a special occasion, or maybe on one of their $35 prix fixe menu days.

Yelp
Had a great brunch here with our family of 5. From the second we walked in the kids were wowed by the decor. The food & drinks was delicious! We had the apple spritz, grapefruit brûlée, crab bisque, crepes, Benedict, hash, risotto, and polenta. Every single thing was delicious and every left full and happy. The highlight of our meal was our server, Aubrey, she was phenomenal! She went above and beyond to make my husband and I with our 3 kids feel welcome. My kids thought she was the nicest server and we thoroughly enjoyed. I can't believe we've lived here forever but just finally checked this place out. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
We were staying at the Inn and thought we should try Krazy Kats last Saturday for dinner. We loved the ambiance and the food was delicious. Our server, Kimberly, is one of a kind. So helpful, friendly and professional - as well as the hostess. I loved the crab cakes, and everyone from our group loved their entrees. We will definitely be back when we're in town. A special thanks to Kimberly! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Last week our family went to Krazy Kats for dinner to celebrate after a small family wedding. We were very tired and because of a delay in the ceremony we arrived at 7:50 instead of 7:00 PM after I called to say we would be late. We were seated at a lovely table and the waitress was exceedingly helpful. However once we ordered it took almost 40 minutes approximately for the food to arrive. Once it did several of us mentioned that it was very salty. I also felt that the rice and zuchinni was impossible to eat. The salmon was just ok. Since we had had such a wonderful wedding we didn't want to ruin the evening by complaining about the food and I did not know if others at the table other than one person also thought the food was bad in any way. The next day my fiance and I came to the Inn to see my new daughter in law and my son who were there because I had arranged for them to stay at the INN, and they all felt ill ,and nauseous with the runs, and I felt that my heart was racing and pounding from too much salt. It was as if they poured a cup of salt in my bowl/plate! We asked to see a manager and we talked to a woman who was the manager of the Inn and the restaurant who was very nice and said she would call me back. I ended up talking to another person who said it was my fault that we did not say anything the night before. I said none of us wanted an unpleasant fuss because we were still glowing from the wonderful wedding ceremony and also it was late and we were all exhausted. My daughter in law is 3 months pregnant and she was also very tired and we all felt it would be impolite to start complaining and we did not want to wait another 40 minutes at 9 PM for the meal to be recooked! When I came in to complain and later talked on the phone with someone from the restaurant I kept being told that because I didn't say anything at the meal they could not give me a refund of any kind! Then they offered 20% ($40.00) not including the $40 tip on a meal that was approximately $235.00 (total paid = $275.00). There was no apology! Only defensive anwers that the food is fresh, they don't add salt, why didn't you say anything, etc. etc. I will never go to this place again! Do not eat here just because the area is charming and it is nice inside! I have never tasted such bad food in my life.

Yelp
Took about 50 minutes to get our food. Alerted the server I'd preferred little or no salt con my food -however "mon ami" the chef over-salted the fish and vegetables, and the amount of pepper dominated the delicate flavors of the food. A musty smell permeated the restaurant, while I could not fail to notice that all upholstery sorely needed a refresh. Went to bathroom and lock wouldn't lock! The waitress appeared to be kind and caring and for that she got 30% tip. I'll be savoring food in Paris Switzerland and Sicily in a few weeks, so won't weep over this disaster! Don't recommend restaurant.

Yelp
Walt 447 Had my first meal there tonight. Crab bisque was fabulous. Grilled salmon was done perfectly, bourbon Manhattan was perfectly prepared. Topped of the meal with Apple cherry crisp and the best coffee I have had in yrs. This a place for quiet reflective dinning. This was the occasion of my 78th birthday and I fully to return again. Service is impeccable

Yelp
Service: Poorly trained and under-supported. Few tables were turned away-- very disappointing. Food: Poorly executed. Incorrect temperature on lamb. Cold salmon and dry (extremely over cooked). Charred/burned asparagus and only a few pieces on plate. Dinner did not impress. We will try brunch in a few weeks.

Yelp
Scrumptious Sunday brunch in this quirky restaurant, on the grounds of an Inn that used to be a steel manufacturing facility. There are some hilarious cat and dog paintings on the walls, with pet heads on regular portrait bodies. Most importantly, they make duck bacon -- who knew bacon could get any better? My egg breakfast (w/duck bacon) and fresh-squeezed OJ was lovely. Wife's tomato caprese was good, slightly different take than a classic because it had mushrooms, arugula and smoked mozzarella. Quinoa was a bit like porridge and a little too sweet. Friend's Belgian waffle was wonderfully indulgent as was the omelette du Jour. fresh-brewed unsweetened iced tea was also a hit. Service was friendly and helpful, though a little slow with water refills and so forth. But they kindly hung onto my credit card for me after I accidentally left it behind, until I realized it and came to retrieve it. So, extra points!

Yelp
Outstanding service. Outstanding food. Nothing to complain about here! The wait staff is highly trained in the art of good service and the chef turns out amazing creations. I'm not sure there is anything on this menu that is not worth trying!! If you are in the area and want some fine dining - you must try Krazy Kat's!

Yelp
Here for a couple breakfasts and a business dinner. Breakfast was pretty standard, although that's because I ordered standard meals! 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes, smoked salmon. The potatoes were quite nice. Dinner was excellent. I ordered a cup of lobster bisque and regretted immediately that I didn't get a bowl! Crab cake entree was delicious and filling with meaty mouthfuls of crab. Honey carrots were ok, but the foie gras and brussel sprouts were amazing. No one wanted dessert until someone whispered apple crumble, which was pretty good. All in all, 2 dinner dishes above average, 3 dishes amazing! I love the decor although some may not like it -- at least it fits the theme!

Yelp
My wife and I were in the area for an Anniversary celebration for close friends and planned for a nice dinner the night before. We asked for recommendations and Krazy Kats was mentioned many times. We started with Mushroom Soup for me and a Romaine Salad for Carol (using only safe Romaine, I am sure). Both were excellent and we started dinner with a bottle of Coppola Cab. I chose the Swordfish (large portion) while Carol chose Salmon (small portion). Both were prepared well, plated nicely and were delicious. We also ordered a side of mushrooms (they told me they were from Kennett Square) - they were delicious. Coffee, tea and a shared Creme Brulee finished our dinner. Service was excellent. This would have been a 5 star review but for the fact that we were seated in a side room, off of the main dining room. It was a nice space but nowhere near as nice as the main room. We were told that we had to request the main room when making a reservation. As this was our first time here, how were we to know of that rule? Lesson learned! Krazy Kats is considered one of the best restaurants in Delaware and they are living up to the hype (I know, it is a small state ...). It was a dark and stormy night when we came to dinner and it is a little hard to find, even with a GPS.

Yelp
Krazy Kat's summer menu was great. The decor is bizarre but in a lovely way. Everything is cat themed including the chairs. We decided to try the prix fixe menu at $35 with a bottle of cabernet sauvignon. The bottle was just okay. The prix fixe menu was delicious. I had the crab bisque, duck bacon potato skins, and seared scallops. All three were absolutely delicious. I'm looking forward to the fall and winter menus. The staff was enthusiastic, but maybe a bit inexperienced. Krazy Kat's is a bit out of the way; it's a good place to stop for dinner after a long day in the Brandywine Valley or if you live near Wilmington. I definitely will be going back for another evening!

Yelp
Fabulous burger and cocktails! Can't wait to go back! We sat at the bar and did not plan to eat much, but we could not stop eating. The bun, the garnish, even the potatoes were delicious. But the MEAT was exceptional. A delicious meal.

Yelp
Always good food. Great service. Good assortment of drinks especially wine. You will need a reservation. Eaten there many times.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Was expecting to order from the lunch menu, but they were serving brunch, We adjusted our expectations I started with a cup of the creamy chicken mushroom soup. So rich, full of butter and cream, maybe brandy. Absolute heaven. Followed with the Winter salad and an English muffin, cause I wanted to open one of the three jars of jam on the table. The filo wrapped nuggets of brie were the perfect addition to the salad. Partner got the raspberry stuffed French toast. It was a perfect four inch brick of crispy deep fried French toast covered in raspberry sauce, berries and toasted walnuts, with a bottle of maple syrup on the side, and a side of sausage. Just an enchanting afternoon in a sunlit room. We are looking forward to trying that lunch menu. We did stop in late, about 1:30 when they closed at 2pm. Service was great, but no desert was offered. Not sure if it was not available or if we overstayed our welcome. Really loved the little lumbar pillows on each chair with a different quote. Super comfy. ;

Yelp
We came here for brunch today. Loved the decor and was happy to be seated in sunroom area as the other area of the restaurant was a little darkly lit. The service was friendly but a little slow. The plates were well presented. I found the cherry compote on the waffle a tad bitter. My friend who had all the fixings places on her waffle could not eat it. My other friend who had the fixings on the side was served with a few of them but they forgot the berries, whipped cream and syrup and brought them out when she was half finished with her waffle. The French toast was a bit better and had a better blend of flavors. I appreciated the texture. Not sure if I will be back here but I might give it a go because it is close to where I live.

Yelp
This restaurant is hands down one of the best restaurants in town. We've been coming to Wilmington for years now to see family and decided to try something out of the ordinary--and I'm so happy we did. Krazy Kat's is a small part of the Inn at Wilmington in Montchanin, and serves up local fare at a very reasonable price. The surrounding area is beautiful, especially in the fall weather, surrounded by rolling hills, nice houses, and lovely neighborhoods. The view was incredible, to say the least. The restaurant itself is a bit tucked away, but boasts a traditionally classic setup with tongue-and-cheek decor. The menu is very eclectic, from high-quality sandwiches and burgers to lunch steaks, salads, and lunch specials. We ordered the mac & goat cheese and hearts of romaine (caesar salad) to start. While the M&GC was dense and rich, the goat cheese really came through; on top was a very nice breaded topping, which gave it a great texture. The hearts of romaine was amazing, with a super light, but flavorful Caesar dressing and a focaccia loaf on top. The bread topping didn't do much for me, but the dressing couldn't have been better. Frequently, chefs make the sauce way too dense and creamy, losing the anchovy essence, but Krazy Kat's hit the target with this salad. I ordered the pancetta crusted chicken pasta, which was very good. The chicken itself had a great, light coating and the pasta cooked perfectly al dente. The eggplant on the side adds a great veggie note to the dish and complimented the spinach and tomatoes really well. My only suggestion is to get the creme sauce on the side. I always hate when chefs try to mask the taste of other elements on the plate and could've done without that. I tasted the buffalo chicken soup-one of the chef specials-which was fabulous as well. Would highly recommend that. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, and will definitely be coming back. The prices were unbeatable for the meals we had, and the service couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. If you're in the area, this is a must-try. Will have to come back for dinner next time!

Yelp
My favorite breakfast place in Wilmington Delaware area. Not crazy expensive. Good service. Good decor. Good food. Do call ahead: Ranges from 1/2 empty to no seating.

Yelp
Krazy Kats it's dank. Personally I think brunch is the best meal you can get here. But what the fuck do I know? Apparently nothing according to my wife...

Caralee C.

Yelp
Beautiful spot for brunch and they are so diligent in a clean and friendly space. The food was excellent as usual, crab bisque, beautiful layered flavors and French toasted with a toasted pistachio, strawberry compote. A little normalcy and joy awaits!

Yelp
Krazy Kats bills itself as a fine dining establishment, but the restaurant fails in numerous respects. We were celebrating the birthday of my elderly mother, who loves all things chocolate so I called a few days ahead of our previously booked reservation to ask the restaurant if they had any sort of chocolate cake on the menu and if not, could the restaurant bake us one, something we'd happily pay extra for. No, I was informed by the condescending host, they did not serve "birthday cake" and they were not a bakery so would not bake a cake. When I asked if I could bring a cake she responded that if I felt I must I could go ahead. When our party of six arrived at the restaurant I handed the cake I had purchased for the occasion to the bartender, who told me there would be a small charge for serving it -- something the host had failed to reveal when I called, but we agreed. Once seated, I noticed that the wine list fails to include the years of the bottles. When questioned the same condescending host I had spoken with on the telephone explained the years change on the bottles regularly so it would be too difficult to update the (8x10 printed paper) wine list, but we could ask the server who would go check the years of individual bottles in which we might be interested. The bartender was unfamiliar with the ingredients of fairly common cocktails --a Boulevardier was served as bourbon on the rocks -- and the server mixed up the several orders of steak, cooked to different levels. One member of our party had asked for a medium-well filet, but finding it rare when she cut into it, sent it back. Another member of our party then cut into her steak, found it medium well, and realized the steak that had been sent back must have been hers, forcing her to run to the kitchen to retrieve the first one before it was overcooked. After the main courses, the server brought the birthday cake out and we sang happy birthday before she returned the cake back to the kitchen to slice. At the point, the host came out and told us she would charge us $6 per person to allow us to eat the cake. Annoyed by the $36 surcharge we declined and the host had the cake -- now sliced -- put back in the box and returned it to us caustically noting she also was returning the grocery bag in which we had carried the cake. Entrees are in the $40+ range. We had also ordered cocktails, appetizers, and wine so the bill was hefty, more than $500. While the food was fine, if unremarkable, the service and treatment by the host left us cold. At this price range, fine dining should include good service. We certainly wouldn't go back. The restaurant replied to my criticism on Open Table defending their host and agreeing that we should not return so no changes are in the offing. Diners beware.

Yelp
Traveled to Delaware over the weekend and stopped here for brunch. The place was very unique with its decor, friendly staff, and most importantly the food was delicious. If you are ever traveling around Wilmington or passing by Montchanin, I highly recommend visiting Krazy Kats!

Yelp
Great all around, the Thanksgiving Pre-Fix meal was great. Super easy to work with and great variety. Christmas Day was also super easy and well done. Thank you for being open for being during the holidays, made my life easier. Keep up the great work! MR. B

Yelp
I grew up in Wilmington, passed this place for years on my way to work in West Chester, but never knew the place existed. After trying the food, I am convinced I haven't lived until now. Every single menu item is worth trying, but the shrimp and grits is visually stimulating and will have your taste buds dancing like Michael Jackson's Super Bowl performance!

Yelp
A beautiful menu! If you are gluten free you will have lots of choices. The crab cake was delicious. The pork chop was very tasty. I liked the scallops but they were a little salty (but tasty)for me on a low salt diet. The drinks are generous pours and the bartender Kimberly was very knowledgeable. Don't forget about dessert...the chocolate pudding was very good...also GF. I live in California but if this was in my neighborhood I would go on a regular basis.
