First off, I have become a huge fan of KREWE over the past year. I think it's amazing that Stirling Barrett (the founder of KREWE and member of Forbes 30 under 30) was able to create a successful luxury brand in New Orleans in just 5 years. I mean how many brands can say that Beyonce, Kendall Jenner, Meghan Markle, Gigi Hadid, and Lil Wayne rock their shades on the regular?
As a local, I love that NOLA is the inspiration for all the designs and even referenced by the frame names (Poydras, Lafayette, St. Louis, etc.) While the sunglasses are expensive ($195-$415 depending on the frame) compared to other popular options, like RayBan, I believe the quality of KREWE's frames is worth the extra money. Each pair is handcrafted, comes with a lifetime warranty, and a FREE replacement should you damage your frames. There's just something special about supporting a local company and looking good in the process.
I noticed a lot of reviews referencing poor customer service. I'm not sure if something has changed since then, but the customer service I experienced was phenomenal. Even though the store was packed with customers, I was immediately greeted by multiple employees. After trying on a few different glasses, I was approached by a young lady named Lucy who recommended a few frames and offered me complimentary Frosé (frozen rosé). Free booze, I'm in. After close to an hour of trying to decide between frames, another employee, Emily, offered her opinion and my final decision was made (the Orleans Windsor for those interested).
If you've had a bad experience with KREWE in the past, I highly recommend giving it another try. I'm not sure if new employees were hired, but my customer service experience was exactly what I have come to expect from a luxury brand.
