The Best Lunch Spots In Oakland - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"This stripped-down cafe on San Pablo from theDeliramaand Pyro’s Pastrami people specializes in strong pour-over coffee and overstuffed hot pastrami sandwiches. The classic Reuben and The OG (with coleslaw) are the no-brainer orders thanks to an abundance of perfectly smoked meat. And there’s a lettuce-and-tomato-packed The Mama for lighter lunches. Pair it with one of their hot or cold “brew toddys” topped with whipped cream or spiked with housemade butter rum syrup." - Julia Chen, Lani Conway

Krispy Joe’s - Review - Oakland - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"The latest opening from the Pyro’s Pastrami team is Krispy Joe’s. The coffee shop focuses on pour-overs and sandwiches like pastrami (of course), egg and cheese, and chicken salad. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Julia Chen

Great selection of sandwiches with their made in house pastrami! Strong coffee and they make their vanilla syrup in house. Customer service is friendly and warm. Great addition to the community!!

I've never been a fan of sandwiches, let alone ever eaten pastrami sandwiches (because it never looked appealing to me personally). My Oakland native friend wanted to catch up and suggested getting sandwiches. He sent over Krispy Joe's and mentioned they had a spot in Jack London during Covid and it was bomb. This new spot in Emeryville just opened last month and I saw that the East Bay News featured the chef as the "pastrami king". So I said, why not and I shouldn't knock it until I try it. Parking was relatively easy, street parking at around 10AM. When we got there, the owner was super welcoming to us. We ordered via Kiosk, which had their hot pastrami sandwiches (their physical menu will be updated later). We got the The OG ($18) and Pyro Reuben ($18). I personally prefer The OG because it felt lighter but still extremely flavorful. The Pyro Reuben was super good too but it was pretty heavy (so if you prefer that, then definitely should get the Pyro Reuben). There are some seats inside and outside, where you can munch on, but it's more a quick bite and then head out kind of vibe. Overall, popped my pastrami sandwich cherry here and I am SO glad I did cause this opened a whole new world of sandwiches for me to try now. 10/10 recommend if you're in the area!

Pastrami sandwiches were fantastic!! Service was good, there was a 20 min wait due to a large order ahead of us. My only suggestion would be if you could set up the tables outside to the side so it doesn’t block the bike racks.

I came for the OG Pastrami, was a fan of the Pyro's Pastrami pop-up and had it toward end of service on a Sunday! Called ahead and it was ready on time. It was delicious, possibly could have used a bit more mustard, but I loved it and this place rules and Cash is the man. Looking forward to trying the pastrami breakfast sandwich.

Great potential. Pastrami was amazing and the pour over was solid! It had just opened when I went, the flow in the kitchen was a work in progress with having to do so many pour overs at once. I would have just gotten a drip coffee or americano if they had that option. Seating is minimal and the decor was also a work in progress with minimal seating. A much needed addition to the neighborhood and tremendous potential with the talent that the owner has. I look forward to seeing it grow and improve.

Good strong pour-over and love having a coffee shop in this space. Opening day crowd made service slow but I ordered the Drink Sailor Toddy and lol’d at the scribbles on my cup. Top notch pirate vibes.

What a neighborhood gem! Good, strong coffee (and plenty of non-coffee options), and absolutely incredible sandwiches. The breakfast PEC (pastrami, egg and cheese) is my current favorite, but I'm pretty sure my favorite will just be whatever sandwich I've eaten last. I've never been a big fan of pastrami, but this place has changed my mind! Locally owned and operated, go check them out any time you need a good coffee or a bite to eat!

Love the vibes of this place! I was happily surprised to hear a local cafe was popping up in the north oakland/emeryville area and it's location on San Pablo perfectly fills a niche in a previously dead area (at least in terms of coffee shops!). The owner is awesome and always makes sure I know where the dog biscuits are when I stop by with my dog. Coffee is great, sandwiches are yummy. Can't wait to see this place grow!
