Kristy's Malibu

Kristy’s is always dependable for a great meal at Trancas. I stopped in for breakfast today — the potatoes were crispy, the scrambled eggs were perfect, and the bacon was great. Service is friendly and the patio is such a nice place to sit, especially on a clear Malibu morning. A solid west-end Malibu spot for breakfast or lunch, with plenty of parking and easy access after a beach walk.

I remember going to Kristie's when they were on the hill at the Malibu inn next to Zuma and they had their delicious pizzas. Kristie's never disappoints even after all these years. I have been ordering their burger on brioche bun for ever! Best burger in the area! Juicy and cooked to perfection! They have a great mix of salads, sandwiches and pasta dishes. Full bar and a casual breezy space. Amazing attentive service. No frills, great food and service and across the street from the ocean with ample parking. Great place to grab brunch or lunch any day of the week. A local staple. Always delicious and never disappoints.

Beautiful place great outdoor music and views! Wonderful cocktails and delicious food alllllll the way! Dishes you can’t find everywhere. I suggest going and spending the extra $$ so worth it❤️

We were seated outside and it was a lovely day. My husband and I loved to eat brunch here after visiting Zuma beach. 😋 It was a little pricey but the food made up for it. A place to splurge on if you're feeling up for it and around the area. There is parking and other shops around to look at. We ordered the Kristy burger with fries and the citrus salad w chicken. Chicken was a little dry but alright. They have a bar as well.

Came here with our friends on Saturday after beach. We ordered Kristy’s burger with salad and fish and chips. Burger taste great but the fish was too greasy. I don’t think it was fresh too. The staff was friendly and nice. Overall food was pricy.

We loved the atmosphere! The live music was absolutely lovely. The goat cheese and mushrooms flat bread was pretty descent. My son really enjoyed the burger and shrimp mac n cheese. The staff was amazing, so friendly and welcoming. I will definately refer people here, and will be returning myself.

Super rude about my service dog. Dog is fully trained and perfectly behaved but they were mad we wanted to eat inside when hot (including eyeroll and sighing). This restaurant should not be classified as $$ - a soda or lemonade or iced tea is $8. Cheeseburger is $28.

Had the Hong Kong sea bass and the Salmon. Everything was cooked perfectly and came out hot. Love the Asian dishes and will be back.

We came here last night for a family birthday dinner and had a great time! Even though it was a bit chilly, we decided to sit outside and enjoy the Christmas decor (they have a huge Christmas tree that's all lit up in the grassy area). They had heat lamps so we were all able to stay warm enough. Our server was great - he checked in on us the right amount of times- responsive but not constantly checking in. We ordered a round of cocktails, then a couple appetizers to start. I got the soup of the day, which was a tomato bisque. It was so creamy and delicious - it really hit the spot on a chilly winter evening! We also got the mushroom flatbread and an antipasto/charcuterie platter to share with the whole table. We had 6 adults and 1 toddler so those were the perfect size appetizers for all of us. For our main course, I got the chicken breast. My husband ordered the lobster linguini, and we got the shrimp mac n cheese side dish for our daughter. The chicken breast was really good. It came with the skin on, and the skin was nice and crispy and flavored with lots of herbs. It sat atop delicious creamy polenta. I tried a bite of the lobster linguini and that was also really good. It came in a tomato-based sauce. I also stole a few bites of my daughter's mac n cheese. The cheese on this mac n cheese was so extremely stretchy that we kept getting tangled up in the long cheese strands as we tried to take bites with our forks, but the flavor was outstanding! I would have enjoyed the mac n cheese as my own dish, that's how good it was. Finally, we ordered dessert. My husband and I ordered the chocolate mousse cake and the cheesecake and we shared. They were both delicious. The cheesecake had a hint of some kind of tropical sauce - maybe guava? And the chocolate cake was rich, decadent, and everything that chocolate lovers could want.

The menu had typos in it on basic food item names, very comical. The men's bathroom was overflowing on the floor with dirty towels, very disgusting. The food wasn't great, not impressed. The outside patio is cute, but that's about it.

Was there last Sunday 3pm 2 of us. They were not organized in spite of not being very busy. Order a diet kola, was completely flat, got another was 70% flat. The Tofu in the app was good, but half the dish was fried rice rectangle's (FRR) that were tasteless and dry. Ordered Black Cod $47.00 small portion of fish was good but more FRR, I guess that is their go to starch profitable for them but not good. Also on the plate were very sour thin sliced pickled radish. Had the Med Salad that was OK. I thought the owner has a lot of experience in the area and was expecting better. Not the case. I am in the food business and found it odd to see the staff putting white tablecloths on the tables "for dinner' as the waiter said. With the issues I saw, their location and cost of a linen program I do not see how that is helping them.

Really great location by Zuma beach. Has better food and vibes than other restaurants in Malibu. They have great kids meals and wonderful desserts.

Not sure why this place is so bad. It seems like it should be ok but everything is just a little bit off, like they're trying to be a restaurant but don't know how. Service was but the food is quite mediocre, bordering on bad. Fairly flat flavor. Also, overpriced.

What a delight. Malibu sun on the peaceful patio with a doggie water bowl for our pooch. Such delightful dishes: Acai Bowl (Hapa), macademia nut pancakes with the coconut syrup (like icing), sweet potato fries for days, breakfast burrito with fat bacon strips. Yum! Service with a smile!

We happened to be in the area, got hungry and found Kristy's.. sooooo glad we did! We were reading the menu and saw a lot of our fave Hawaiian-esque dishes on the menu.. coupled with Three Plus' song Honey Baby on the speakers gave us aloha feels for sure!!! My husband got the loco moco which he loved. Since I'm plant based I ordered the tofu tomatillo.. YUM!!! We sat in the outside patio that has sun and shaded spots. The restaurant was clean and inviting and the staff was warm and welcoming. We loved our server Sonia she was attentive and sweet! It wasn't cheap BUT totally worth it to us. We will definitely be back when we are back in this area.

Tried this place for the 1st time my family and I will definitely be back! Service was great - heads up, they cook their food in peanut oil BUT unlike many places, they can make certain food with olive oil YAY!!! NOTE: The regular fries with the tri-tip 'wich were also seasoned with garlic & rosemary. I ran out of allowed characters rolling so I couldn't include that on the pic.

Food was amazing. I love the atmosphere outside. Service was good. It's been a couple years since I was there. I can't say anything more about it than when I've already written.

Aloha all! Long one here. Let me tell you something about Kristy's cafe. Not only will you find some of the most tasty, special and carefully curated food...you will find the beautiful decorations, the attentive and smiling staff, the selections of beverages and warm atmosphere delivers an excellent experience all around. Talking hospitality, I'm personally a fan of business owners being on-site and engaging with customers versus sending customers up a corporate ladder if any discrepancy. Both big and "small" Another big home run is seasonal live entertainment. Chinese New Year 2024 attached below. Talk about diversified this place is a must go for date night. Don't have much time and need a quick stop? Kristy's will have you back on scenic pacific highway with everything you need in no time.

Gorgeous day in Malibu. The macadamia pancakes with the coconut syrup were out of this world. Nice patio with room for doggies. They even brought out a water bowl for our pooch without our asking. Lovely place, lovely meal, lovely day.

What happened to this place? I used to be a regular but haven't been here for several months. So disappointed. Fish and chips used to have a lightly battered, crispy coating. Now, so thick and soggy that I pushed it aside and just ate the fish. Burger was not cooked as ordered. The chopped salad had so much raw onion it was practically inedible. A side salad must have been prepped long before, as it was wilted and tired. No one came to check on us after the food arrived or to see if we wanted to order another drink, and we had to track down our server to ask to pay.

Wonderful vegetarian options at a beautiful location. Visited this beautiful, brightly lit, modern farmhouse style restaurant on a Sunday afternoon at around 2pm. It's located in an adorable outdoor shopping center with plenty of parking. Our wait was less than 5 minutes. We were seated outside on the patio that overlooked the center's courtyard. The vibe was relaxing and social. The patio was dog- friendly so we were able to admire the well behaved furry patrons. The menu had a wide array of options. There was atleast one vegetarian option in every category. We opted for the Beyond Burger, the Surfer's Delight, a pineapple juice and Earl Grey Tea. Our drinks were delivered quickly and presented well. The pineapple juice was frothy and very mild. It was a tad too watered down for me but still good. Our food followed in a timely manner and was artistically plated with bright colors and a "K" imprinted on my burger. Portion sizes were adequate. The Surfer's Delight was much larger in portion than the burger. Both were tasty. The Beyond Burger patty was thin and moist. The bread was smooth and light. The onion jam really added a unique flavor to the burger and set it apart from other BBs I've had. We added tomatillo to the Surfer's Delight... Wow! Our server, Sonya, was friendly, helpful and super busy. I'm surprised there weren't more servers working. I felt bad watching her running around. I throughly enjoyed my visit and will return to try the other vegetarian options. The Acai bowls and smoothies are calling my name!

A wonderful Malibu experience each time I visit this restaurant. Kristy is always there, and knows all who enjoy dining there. She is friendly and knowledgeable about each guest. The food is delicious and prepared as you like it. Also since it is close to the ocean, the views, and fresh air are fabulous. Many people love dining outside, with heaters in the winter months. Kristy's coconut cake is extremely elegant and a special treat.

2.5 stars . Ive been here 15 times. Partially because only place open without driving 20mins. Overall 2.5 liquor pours are good Charcuterie very filling Halibut was amazing, the first time. Outside of that, service is slow and food is 80% of the time not done correctly . I tried to keep it simple and got a burger and chicken Caesar salad this time and it was my last straw. Chicken came out pink undercooked. Burger medium came out well done and charred . My fiancee pasta tasted like they got pasta sauce premade from ralphs. We sent nothing back, ate what we could and left. I was starving from the long wait for food so i literally ate whatever i could , paid and quietly left. Sad, this place used to be top notch quality . Sonya is the best server there and i havent seen her last few times, bummer. Also , $10 for pineapple juice and it didnt come with the tequila i ordered . Bummer .

I have to give it one star considering we sat at our table for 10 minutes and no one came to greet us. It was the weirdest thing- seated in the middle of the room with plenty of staff moving around but no one made eye contact. We finally asked a young busser to see a server, but still nothing. So we just saw ourselves out, never to go back. My wife and I walked across the mall to Malibu Brewing Company and had a nice meal there, so I guess it all worked out.

I waited a bit to be seated despite them not being busy on a Sunday afternoon. I sat down and smeared my hands in old pancake syrup from the people who at my table before me. Yummy. I waited a bit for a server - maybe 10 minutes. I ordered a beer and a beyond burger. My beer came and it looked like it was missing the top quarter of the glass. I let it go. Beyond burger came in timely fashion. Burger was average -- nothing special. Second beer ordered. Missing top quarter again. Must be the pourer! $8 a glass though. Average at best. I asked for a check and it took about 10 minutes to get. Expect slow service. Ok food. And beers that aren't filled to the top of the glass! Enjoy!!!

The food was very bland. The staff were nice, but the food was just not great. We stopped by for a quick lunch, and non of us could finish our lunch!

Just took a chance and it was fabulous. The blackened chicken sandwich was amazing and my friend had eggs. Even the Arnold Palmer was perfect. Dog friendly and I'd give more stars if I could.

Wow, I'm shocked to see such bad reviews. Kristy's never disappoints (and I am often disappointed by food). The fish is OUTSTANDING here. It's a casual spot, but the food is elegantly plated and cooked to perfection. We come to Kristy's whenever we are in this part of Malibu. I find it's reasonable (given that it's Malibu) and the portions are large. I've never had poor service and we love the laid back vibe for a "fine dining" spot.

A great stop from the beach or hiking in Malibu. I came here several times over the years and it does not disappoint. Sad to see some reviews about bad customer service and poor quality food items. I never had an issue with any of those things whenever I visited, but I guess I got lucky or something. I always stop by here whenever I take my family to Malibu or when im hiking in the area. They offer outdoor seating which you can get a great view of the mountains behind the restaurant! Staff was always helpful and considerate whenever I visited. We are huge fans of Kristy's for years. The food is always perfect, service is professional and elegant. We used to go every Sunday night with my parents when my dad was alive, now we like to take my mom and we remember our many amazing dinners. Gluten free options are amazing, too - the burger on the GF bread is surprisingly delicious. 10/10 every time!

Super disappointed by this place. Came with my parents, sister and daughter for brunch. My moms eggs were ordered over hard and came so runny that even the whites weren't cooked. My dad ordered eggs Benedict with bacon and received the wrong order twice. The second time he got eggs florentine instead and when they took his dish back and brought it back for a 3rd time we realized they just scraped the spinach off and brought it back to us. There was spinach still stuck to the eggs and english muffin. He was so hungry by that point he didn't say anything and just ate it. My sister and I both got bagels, 1 with avo and 1 with lox. Bagels were cold and seemed chewy as if they weren't toasted. Overall, the food was mediocre. Waitress was very nice though and attentive. I used to like Kristy's when it was above westward, but unfortunately won't be back and don't recommend it at all.

Came here for Mother's Day. Totally dissatisfied with their service. Their food was great, however our waiter was not checking on us and a courtesy "are you guys good, you need anything?" Nope, nothing. Not cool, the place wasn't busy that you can't come and ask us if you need anything. I wouldn't recommend, and as we were leaving I heard another customer tell the manager, "we haven't received our bill". I am huge on customer service, even if the food was good. I wouldn't come back.

I had a wonderful experience here. All of the servers were so nice and accommodating. They serve a DELICIOUS skinny spicy Margarita and I'm very particular about my margs. Very kid friendly. Anderson says thank you and hello!

Never come back to this place , they messed up my food intentionally for no reason other than probably not enough tips for them. I ordered a cheeseburger for to go and they put the watery vegetables first at the bottom of the box then they put the slice of meat and then on top they put the two pieces of bread. When I took the box and opened it after I left I was shocked it was all messed up I had to throw it away all. What a waste of my money on this place. Better spend your money on another restaurant that treat you well with respect . DO NOT GO THERE. I wish I took a picture to upload it here

The place was only 2/3 full, so we got seated right away, but then we waited 15 minutes before a server acknowledged us and we finally got water. The food was mediocre and overpriced. I had to borrow salt & pepper from the next table over since we never once saw our waiter again until I was finally able to flag him down to pay. On top of all that, the restaurant is in a CELL PHONE DEAD ZONE and it has NO WI-FI. C'mon, you can justify no wi-fi in a dense cell area, but it is a MUST in a place that has zero bars all meal.

My husband and I were doing a staycation and wanted to have a good brunch before we headed out to the beach. We were so disappointed to say the least. The food sucked.. he had the loco moco and I had the wasabi bowl. Both were incredibly bland. It made us both sick and we had to cancel our plans and lay down all day to feel better. Service was fine, drinks were decent. Not worth the price.

This is a COVID-era review. Ordered to go. You can't enter the restaurant. The menu is very extensive and the menu prices were very high. I ended up ordering the house meatballs. It comes with rice and veggies. I really enjoyed the flavors of the meatballs (though not sure if I would pay that price again!) Seating is outside. There are a couple of areas to sit down around. They were also doing a sale on alcohol so we got a bottle of chardonnay (not chilled).

This place was excellent. I'm glad I ignored the low rating. The fillet mignon and garlic spinach was perfect. The pan seared scallops were on point too. I'll definitely be coming back.

Enjoyed the food although $27 for a cheeseburger with bacon seems steep to me and $2 extra for sweet potatoes just adds to it. Of course it is Malibu. Wines by the glass list was solid. BUT, kitchen was so sssslllloooowww! Took way too long to get our food. Place was busy but not packed.

We went in to have drinks at the bar and it was the strangest non bar experience. First of all, all the drinks were being poured and mixed behind the scenes with no sink or ice at the bar and the absence of a bartender made it even more strange. There was plenty of staff that sort of stood around and walked around but no one to tend the bar to engage with customers at the bar. Upon ordering red wine, we asked for either bread or bar snack snacks to clean our palette and we were told nothing was available not even a piece of bread. I'm unsure about returning for a dining experience.

The food was not good but the service was even worse. I had to wait for 20 minutes for getting a table.

This place is amazing. The service and food is incredible. I love the Sumer love cocktail, the calamari, the fish and the burger but everything on the menu is amazing m. The fries and sooo yummy. I even had a temp baby sitter ! My little One can be seen in the picture finding treasures in the planter with the staff lol

5/11/24 When back here today after a long hiatus to have their coconut cake and a cup of tea. We also had an appetizer. Everything was fine except that the water served for the tea was less than lukewarm. I literally stuck my finger in it to show the waiter how cool it was. He offered to bring another pot of hot water and this time it was just a tad warmer. The waiter said that his manager won't allow anything hotter. ARE YOU KIDDIN ME!!! How do you serve tea with water barely above room temperature ‍‍ Soooo DISAPPOINTING. I want to like this place since it's in a beautiful location but it's almost as if they do not care because they know they're in the middle of nowhere Malibu and probably the only game in town for the next 10 miles so who gives a crap if customers are happy or not right? Oh the good news is now their payment system has been upgraded and it now accepts Apple Pay!!! Wooooo Hooooo

Food very good but VERY SLOW and no one was there service wonderful everyone so nice especially our waitress and everyone very attentive. It seems their kitchen is a little slow if I'm honest but the menu is big and lots of wonderful options. They don't display the vegan items which is a big miss- I only knew bc I called ahead and asked if they had any as I am vegan and there potentially would be nothing to eat. They should list them there is a very good vegan burger (got mine on lettuce it was amazing) and the fries were so good and I love their salads. Def would go back the best part is sitting on the outdoor patio while the kids run around on the grass- can't beat it

We chose this for location for a family dinner as we all lived North, South or East. They have a moderate price point FOR MALIBU, and ample parking. The service was excellent. Our bartender and later our server, Nicholas, could not have been nicer or more efficient. We shared the mushroom arancini and the calamari starters. They were both phenomenal. The calamari was a light tempura like batter, very light, completely delicious. Half of us had the Ono, a bit on the pricey side but really good. The potatoes were a big hit. The other half had pasta primavera. I felt like it was a bit of an afterthought, put on the menu so vegetarians would have a choice. I am not a vegetarian but I like intersting vegetables and I love pasta; the dish was not interesting at all. Mostly angle hair with Broccoli and carrots, and the whole lot over cooked (mushy) and it was obvious before even tasting it that the broccoli was limp. It wasn't inedible, but bland; I would never order it again. Cloth napkins, yummy cocktail, good selection of wine and beer, sparkling clean restrooms. And again, the service was friendly and just the right amount of attentive. We had a super fun time and a major celebrity sighting, one of my long time crushes. I almost followed him out of the restaurant and yelled "I love you!" But it would now be age appropriate for either of us. I won't name drop but He knows The Dude and has been to Tombstone.

Hire a professional bartender! Prices jacked up. Upholstery needs cleaned spots everywhere. If your in the mood for a burger, it's the place to go. Prime Rib was horrible. Ordered Medium Rare and was served overcooked and no taste.

An absolute gem of a restaurant, very relaxed and fun. I love everything about it, from the food to the drinks to the ambiance to the service. I always have an amazing experience when I come here, very relaxed and fun. Kristi and team are the best!

Drove out to Malibu to take a friend to lunch for her birthday. Really like this place. Amazing menu, great service, dog friendly. Everything was perfect!
