Very good food! I’m gluten free and haven’t had gyro meat in years. I knew I had to hit this place up when I learned theirs was gluten free! I had the gyro tacos, which came with a bunch of meat, rice pilaf (also gluten free), and some salsa. I wish there were more peppers included on the tacos, but overall it was delicious.

Lindsey S.

Google
The waiter was great!! He did not make us feel rushed and he included the boys in the conversation which was really nice. Their avocado gold salad is seriously amazing! Just get it! The food tastes as good as the pictures look! The kiddos each got the gyros- they were full but wanted to devour most of it! We will be back for the desert which we ended up getting elsewhere for a reason we had decided on before eating here. Their cheesecake baklava sounds heavenly.

Google
First, I do not recommend the crab cakes. My grilled shrimp pita was served with a generous amount of shrimp and was very tasty. The gyro pita (my husband had) was also served with a generous amount of meat and was very good. The wait staff were attentive but the kitchen was so slow. Bought a bottle of their delicious Greek dressing to take home. So good!

Samantha G.

Google
My absolute favorite!! Been coming for 5 years on vacation, and I can’t leave Galveston without it. The baklava cheesecake will CHANGE YOUR LIFE

Google
We had this place before and the food was much better the first time. I had a chicken pita with pilaf rice/fries. The pita and rice were okay. These items didn't seem to have the flavor they had when we tried this place for the first time. My lady had crab cakes ( I tried but not for me) and she enjoyed them for an appetizer as well as the feta toast bites. She enjoyed those, except for the zesto feta pieces which had some kick to them. She also ordered the flat bread pizza which was okay. The spinach didn't do it any justice. I enjoyed a couple of Michelob Ultras and she had some water.

Super friendly, cute hole in the wall place. If you love Greek food, this is the place! Adam was our server, he was extremely accommodating and attentive. He recommended mostly what we got 😅 This place is great for family’s! Calamari and crab cakes were yummy! Lamb chops were delicious, kids loved the pizzas, gyro platter and gyro pita was perfect👌🏼 platter had SO much food on it. The rice was a fav. The meat lover pizza was perfectly made with gyro, mozzarella, feta, marinara, tomato, red onions 🤤 He talked us into the chocolate cake and OMGGGGGG 🤌🏼💋 Definitely check it out if your into little locally owned places! Gluten free options too!

During Restaurant Week, my wife and I like to order different dishes and share. We had the Greek salad and seafood-packed bouillabaisse soup for starters. Main dishes were shrimp pesto pasta and avocado cilantro haddock. We finished up with strawberry cake and bread pudding. Marvelous lunch for $15/person.

Google
Great experience. Got in about 530 and only a few tables were full. We ordered and our food came out quick. The restaurant was filled when we left and I know why. The food was amazing I had the lamb shank and it was delicious. Perfectly tender and well cooked. Our whole table enjoyed the food. Will be back for sure.

Yelp
To-Go Order: Greek Avocado Chicken Salad The salad was nice and veggies were all fresh and tasty. Plenty of delicious Greek dressing was a big PLUS!! I ordered the chicken blackened and it was also very tasty. My issue was that the olives come with the seeds still in them and you get 2 small triangles of stale store bought pita breads. To top it off, with tax, it was $28.... So though it was tasty, the price definitely doesn't match the product. Now I understand why there was only 1 table at 5pm on a busy Saturday evening in June. Service was as it should be, nothing to note about. Not sure if I would return. Maybe.

Yelp
5 stars all day. The service was hands down the best I've had in awhile. This may not be the most popular place and always full but it's worth the stop. So many good options on the menu, only wish I could eat more. I will go back and explore th menu many more times.

Yelp
I tried out Kritikos Grill a couple times, and I have been impressed both times. The first time I had the Greek salad with salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection, and I absolutely loved the dressing. I asked if they sold their dressing, and they said yes. I bought a bottle of the dressing, and they explained that if you bring the bottle back, you get a discount on the next bottle. I also have had the Lamb Gyro pita. It came with French fries. The pita was loaded with meat, and I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was casual, and the restaurant is located near the Seawall. There are options for indoor and outdoor seating. I will be back!

Yelp
I was staying in the area before a cruise and wanted a reasonably priced spot for dinner. This place popped up in my Yelp search and seemed like it would do the trick. My dad ordered the Gyro Pita, and my mom and I split the Grilled Chicken Pita and the Fish Tacos. The food was decent and not amazing, but it worked for a quick, casual meal. The tacos had a nice mix of toppings, and the pitas were pretty standard. The atmosphere was a bit underwhelming. It was oddly quiet for around 7:30pm, with only a few other tables occupied. Service wise, it was a little off. Our server wasn't very attentive and didn't seem to be listening when we placed our order and he forgot one of the items and we had to repeat ourselves. Also, the server just did not seem friendly after we officially ordered for the rest of the meal. Overall, it's fine if you're looking for something fast and simple, but not a place I'd go out of my way to revisit.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place for a while and we finally made it! The food was great and the waitstaff was very attentive. If you're looking for great Greek food, give this place a try.

Yelp
Visited for dinner and happy hour on a weekday! The prices are pretty high for the quality of the food. The happy hour specials are also not very worth it- the prices are cheaper but so are the portion sizes, so a whole meal would probably be the same price as on the regular menu. The inside is clean and has many tables, and it was pretty empty when I visited. Service was okay. They were very nice, but it was hard to get their attention for extra napkins, silverware, and sauces.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
So glad we finally got here! Everything was delicious. We split a sampler pita plate with veggies and different dips... that garlic hummus was my favourite but they were all so good. The pitas were one of the best I've ever had... grilled!! Gyro tacos, ahi tuna... all cooked perfectly with tons of fresh flavour. Our waitress was very friendly and perfectly attentive. There's a lot of room inside but it's chilly so bring an extra layer just in case. Next time I want to take advantage of their outdoor patio- cute and cozy even next to a plaza parking lot. Plus you've got a great view of the ocean.

Yelp
Carry out. The food was great! Easy to find. Ordered the gyro platter with fried okra!

Yelp
This was a to-go order and the most positive thing about it was that it contained all items ordered and included extra sauces and utensils. There are few things more frustrating than finding food you asked for (and paid for) missing in action. Of course the prudent person opens up the to-go bag while still at the restaurant to insure that all is as it should be. Sometimes I'm that person, but not always, because honestly I shouldn't have to be. As for our food, I have to say that my husband and I were disappointed. Our dine-in experiences at Kritikos have been uniformly satisfying so this was jarring. Dan's order: Greek salad and chicken pita. Sadly, the salad was not up to par. The dressing was under seasoned, the salad ingredients were clunky with some vegetables oversized and others almost non-existent, and the pepperoncini were fibrous and hard. On a positive note, the feta was fine. Yay. The chicken pita, while generously sized, lacked seasoning and sear -- its blandness possibly could have been mitigated with other ingredients but those were meager at best. The taztziki i sauce was oddly muted with little flavor and tang. My order: Greek layered dip with pita and grilled octopus appetizer. The layered dip was a complete disaster. To be fair, I probably should have known it would be - hummus on the bottom, taztziki next, then topped with cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, and feta crumbles - all things that I love. But it translated into a wet insipid mess. The hummus, usually garlicky and delightful was mushy and bland, the taztziki similar in its lack of flavor and punch, were smothered with veggies with a high water content. Even feta couldn't save this dish. The octopus, happily, was okay, not the best I've had, but okay. Here's the thing, folks, grilled octopus should never be just okay. It was seasoned decently so there's that. It was however, a little chewy. Full disclosure, my husband has mastered octopus so it's entirely possible that I might be spoiled. That said, when paying around $18 for a couple of tentacles, I expect to be a little bit wowed. I wasn't. Final thoughts: everybody has an off day, to-go is seldom as good as what you get kitchen to table, and we will try Kritikos again - in awhile when the memory of this expensive meal has faded.

Yelp
This place is fantastic! The food was amazing, service was friendly and attentive. It has a comforting, local vibe. My husband and I loved coming across this gem while visiting Galveston. We will definitely be back to enjoy Kritikos again.

Yelp
An experienced to remember and reminisce the greatness hospitality were given while we are fink b at this restaurant for our lunch date. Hostess and waiter both were very nice and kind. A little greatness laughed and smile throughout our time there. Authentic Greek Salad dressing, wow it was delicious. Perfection and it wasn't overpowering flavor. We've ordered Stuffed Flounder and it was something different but yet, interesting. A must try it out. You won't be disappointed at all. Customer services are fantastic amazing!! You guys are doing perfectly fine.
google avatar

Haley H.

Yelp
We got dessert to go and it was all so good!! Service was fast and friendly. The bread pudding was amazing!
google avatar

Mary D.

Yelp
The food was excellent. Joelle was our server very knowledgeable of the menu. We also spoke to the manager Travis very nice. The calamari was excellent as the Greek salad and the Gyro plate.
google avatar

Jason T.

Yelp
The food normally is good but this visit was terrible I had the Grill Chicken Dinner and about 45 minutes later I wanted to throw up and I had the worst diarrhea ever I had to drive back to Houston with diarrhea and it was at the cost of Kritikos Grill I believe it was the chicken or the under cook green beans,Server was good he took care of my daughter and step son but I did notice couple people going to the restroom and however I took the liberty to do some research that I ate some Red Pepper crackling and that what made me have diarrhea but however my observation lead me watching two people stayed in the restroom for awhile

Donna M.

Yelp
Fish and chips were good. Gyro meat was bland, green beans were fresh but tasteless. Pita was good. Tsziki not great. But it was voted the best. Staff was very unfriendly.

Alyssa D.

Yelp
First time here and we will most definitely be back! Everything we had to eat and drink was amazing. Large portions and such flavorful dishes. Such a nice vibe inside as well. Thank you, Miguel for the wonderful service!

Yelp
The service is always outstanding at Kritiko's! We went for lunch on a Saturday and there were very few patrons, so everything came out quickly! My fave is the Vegetarian Platter with chicken soup instead of lentil soup. It's so consistently delicious, especially that soup! I don't like the dolmas ever, but they are just part of the platter. My daughter had Shrimp Santorini for a change. It was ok, but nothing special. Pretty bland. Prob something salt would fix. Let me say too that they have the very best salads!!
google avatar

Yvonne M.

Yelp
We stopped in here for lunch during our visit to Galveston. This place had something for everyone in our family. I am vegetarian/vegan so hard to find somewhere to eat for me. Kids are picky eaters too. However, i had the vegetable/hummus pita meal and it was delicious! Even better was the avocado hummus and oh my i ate everything on that plate almost by myself! Kids were thrilled to order pancakes, eggs and bacon here, and my husband had the seafood pita. i'm only sorry i didn't snap a few pictures. Our service was great. We also drank the sparkling water and it was pretty tasty too. I would bring my family back here again.
google avatar

Deborah L.

Yelp
There are two things you absolutely must try while you're here: The first is the chicken orzo soup, because it's hearty and feels clean. A family recipe handed down from generations. The second must-try is the baklava cheesecake. Just looking at the photo, you know you're in for a conversation-stopping, mind-blowing experience. Baklava and creamy cheesecake together just makes sense! The meat platters that come with two sides are big! It's very possible to share this with two people. The green beans came in a red sauce I enjoyed. The meat pizza was the best bang for your buck. Cheesy and meaty and very satisfying.
google avatar

R D S.

Yelp
The service was great. I cannot complain about that at all, but we got a simple Gyro sandwich and the meat was maybe one or 2° away from room temperature, and then the tzatziki sauce was extremely cold and having to put that on a room temperature sandwich was not good, I got the okra and it was extremely bland. My wife got the green beans also bland
google avatar

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
My husband and I went there on Saturday afternoon about midday to get a quick snack before pedicures. We wanted to share a Gyro. The waiter was very nice and accommodating. He had the kichen split it for us. Everyone was very personable and friendly. The gyro was fine. Nothing special. I would like to go back sometime for dinner to see how their platters taste. I thought it would've been cool if they played Greek music to further the Greek experience. Overall, I felt like the decor was a little bit tired. It would be fun to see a modern day version of this concept.

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Food! Service! Ambiance!everything was so so fresh and good. We went back the next evening for more.
google avatar

Elise M.

Yelp
We were in the mood for something different and had heard great things about Kritikos. Delicious Greek food and great service. We tried the sampler plate and the hummus and moussaka were standouts for me. They also have a traditional kids menu if you have less adventurous eaters. I really want to come back and try a Gyro. They're huge and look really tasty. The dining room is nothing fancy but this is a great place for a casual meal or takeout if you're looking for something unique to try while visiting the island.
google avatar

Manju W.

Yelp
Our server took forever to bring us stone cold soup. Mixed up our drink order BUT the worst part was awful French fries and fat filled lamb chops. Never ever again
google avatar

Marian G.

Yelp
The restaurant is large and airy and gives off a good vibe. We came in the late afternoon so it was really quiet (we were the only ones in the restaurant). We had the gyros and falafel and they were both tasty and we would recommend them both. The service wasn't bad but could have been a little more prompt.
google avatar

Nick M.

Yelp
Have been here a few times and it's delicious every time. The shareable platter has everything you need!

Yelp
April 19th, 2022 Came in for take out at 5:30p Sat at the bar and had a glass of Santa Margherita Pinot grigio ($14) while I waited. Waited 30 minutes for soup/sandwich???? Way too long for just a few customers in the place. Nickie waited on me; she was very sweet. Ordered: Chicken soup seafood Bouillabaisse soup Gyro the wine was old because that brand is smooth and delicious but, I had the end of the bottle, so it must have been open for a while because it was bitter. the chicken soup, no lemon in the broth so nope disappointing. seafood bouillabaisse (first time trying) was filled with claims, shrimp, fish, calamari, it was meh...there was nothing special about the broth of this soup, a traditional French that can take up to 2 days to make. It had no saffron, fennel, orange zest ... no fish stock flavor; disappointed. ($15.50) gyro packed with well flavored lamb and served w/no flavored rice pilaf (fail on the rice) Not sure I'd be back.

Yelp
We've been coming here for years (back when it was still the Olympia) and the food never disappoints!! We ordered the gyro plate, kids pizzas, chicken orzo soup, and baklava. Everything was absolutely delicious! The ambiance is family friendly, relaxed and beach adjacent. You can tell it's a family run restaurant, which is lovely amidst the numerous chains and franchises you see along the sea wall. The service was okay. I thought our server was a little distracted. However the manager more than made up for it, and was especially attentive once she realized we were a little frustrated with our waiter. The prices are reasonable and again...I can't emphasize how delicious the food is! The gyros were on par with the gyros my husband and I bought off the streets of Athens when we visited Greece many years ago. Definitely a must stop for some good Greek food!

Eric F.

Yelp
Outstanding appetizers, the chicken and all the rest of the meal was first class. The service was outstanding as well. Highly recommend this when in town.

S G.

Yelp
Honestly, I'm having lunch here everytime I'm in the area. All I can say is wow. I know they have been in business bc we used to come here since I was in middle school... I'm 30 now. Friendly faces, great food. A BUNCH OF OPTIONS. Clean and vibey restaurants.

Denisse G.

Yelp
As soon as we walked in we weren't greeted nicely. The server had such a straight face and didn't ask us anything and there was a man who looked at us very strange( mind you me and my gf are both Hispanic she's a bit darker than me ) I felt like we were being racially profiled or they think we were "too young" just because we asked for mimosas and I didn't have my id and the guy said I took to long to look for my id . But the food was decent
google avatar

Bob P.

Yelp
The service was good. Everything else was a disappointment. We live on the island and have eaten at Kritikos often. Maybe not so much anymore. I would be generous if I said the Chicken Picata was mediocre. The term "rubber chicken" comes to mind. The prices were questionable. For example, the Large Greek Avocado Salad is $19.95. For $5 more you can add shrimp. But if you want to add those same shrimp to any other dish it will cost you $10. How can the same shrimp double in price based on the dish to which they are added? The manager blamed it on the computer. But she also admits that she never calculated "Chicken Picata with Shrimp" on the computer. I didn't agree to pay $10 to add a few shrimp. That's fortunate for me as it would have taken more than a few grilled shrimp to save that dish. Personally, I think Cajun Greek Restaurant on 61st might be a better choice.
google avatar

Vanessa L.

Yelp
My friend and I came here during Galveston Restaurant Week and had a lovely time. They had a specific menu just for GRW so it was very decently priced. I got the chicken soup which we were told was made in the house as well as a white fish with crawfish sauce dish all for $15. My friend got the soup as well and a meatball and spaghetti dish also for $15. I haven't had a chance to try their normal menu yet but will have to come back in the near future to give it a try! The service was great too-- our waitress was super friendly and attentive and made the experience all the more pleasant.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
We stopped in and absolutely loved this place. Authentic Mediterranean food and our waiter was so nice. It wasn't super busy but it's the kind of place that should be. Their calamari is wonderful and the traditional hummus is very good. They have a fantastic vegetarian pizza. The meat lovers is also excellent. They have a build your own option. If you like traditional Greek food this is an excellent option that stands out in a sea of seafood. We love Galveston sea food but this is a spot to break up the menu a bit.
google avatar

Douglas M.

Yelp
Service was great. Decor was a bit nicer than typical Galveston restaurants, with a nice Greek twist. Vegetarian fare was good. I only wish there was a few more options. That being said, they have the best vegetarian food on Galveston. So far. Falafel was very nice, as was the hummus. Everything was fresh. I could have eaten a bit more pita bread. The lentil soup was good. I know we will return in the future!
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
I order a small Greek salad the salad had one olive. The dressing is delicious. A side of grilled salmon cooked very nicely. The salmon did have a strange seasoning which I am not familiar. The service was prompt, but the kitchen is very slow. Ok this is the kicker the price. $12.75 for a side of salmon. $6.25 for a very small side Greek salad. Too expensive for what you get!
google avatar

Bill B.

Yelp
Great food! Great service! Gyro meat was awesome plus the egg plant parmigiana! Thank you Avery!

Ray S.

Yelp
Really friendly place great food, this was our first time and we will be back. JR was our waiter great recommendation

Lou L.

Yelp
Hands down! Great American Breakfast, we've eaten all over and here too for lunch and dinner but never tried breakfast. Eggs, sausage bacon & pancakes perfect. Don't want to wait? That's the place to go! Ambiance is tranquil and service is great always.

Kai M.

Yelp
The food is just so so so subpar. We mostly order to go so we can't attest to the service. Not to compare their greek food but i've hit so many hole in the wall greek places before and this is at the bottom rung of the ladder. For the moussaka, the red sauce is separated, it gave me a chance to analyze the red sauce and discover a slightly olive-y tasting marinara sauce. As for the dolmas, oh my god, i never knew it could taste like it looks. i know they're supposed to be steamed but the grape leaves tasted slimy and old. NOW FOR THE PITA. Holy crap i did not know you could bioengineer a pita bread to smell like a dish rag, on top of getting 2 quarters of a whole pita for a fat plate of moussaka. For reference think of the biggest chip in the basket at chili's and you get two of those in pita form. As for what could be improved, fresher ingredients, better portioning, and find a new pita recipe.
google avatar

Shafina I.

Yelp
The server who took our order was super sweet. Ordered the seafood gumbo, Greek salad, and make your own pizza to go. It was nice that they had options of getting everything in smaller portions which was nice because I didn't want too much food. Everything was really tasty, well priced, and fresh.
google avatar

Kristy S.

Yelp
Right on the sea wall across from the beach. Huge interior. Good wine. Great service. The octopus is sooo good. So tender. The kids cheese pita is pretty much a thick quesadilla. Overall we enjoyed our meal. There's patio and upstairs dining but it's too hot to do that today. I definitely want to come back to try the other food items. Lots of items on the menus.
google avatar

Janisah Amirah S.

Yelp
Didn't get approached here by a host, I had to go up to the bar to get noticed. The gyro I ordered was $17 but it was cold, tiny and very unflavored. It's so disappointing and I'm shocked this had such high reviews on yelp. They only give you a tiny bit of tzatziki to go with the meal but it was so flavorless, you gotta ask for extra. I also didn't see any rotating spit so it may have been baked in terms of preparation.
google avatar

Nurse M.

Yelp
Good location with friendly staff . Food was mediocre. Hummus was dry , bland taste . It was disappointing
google avatar

Alfredo C.

Yelp
This lovely Greek spot is run by the same people who used to own the Olympia restaurant near Harborside. We had a lovely lunch seated outside and can highly recommend the fresh grilled fish, which was prepared simply, accompanied by rice pilaf and soup or salad. -- totally delicious. Our server was very friendly and took good care of us. We definitely plan to return here on our next visit to Galveston.
google avatar

Eva P.

Yelp
Always a hit! Fresh and delicious food from the salads to the entrees. Service was excellent as well. We enjoyed our food and the drinks kept coming. I ordered the chicken pita with feta and sweet potato fries. Let me tell you the fries are the absolute best around. Crispy on the outside, not over seasoned and tender and sweet on the inside. My pita was perfect and the serving is huge. I chose the bread pudding which was a disappointment but I'll admit I love BP and have eaten it at some of the best restaurants. My friend got a custard dessert with a long name and it was ok. Super duper sweet so who le I love their food I would probably go elsewhere for dessert.

Jeanette W.

Yelp
The food was very good. The chicken parm sandwich was bigger than a football. The owner was lovely and shared some fishing stories with us. Reminded us of the Greek restaurants we eat at when we are home in Chicago. Loved the blue Greek decore.
google avatar

Deidra B.

Yelp
Omg this mom and pop Greek restaurant is truly one of my favorites ever. We met up with some of the original OG's from the Previous place when it was on Harborside in Galveston. (They relocated here a few years ago) The vibe is not Harborside but we love it for the new vibe! Some the same staff (thanks Wendy for fabulous service!). So tonight we ordered the Kritikos Platter..... we had already smacked on the usual delicious garlicky hummus, the Tuna and the terrific nachos on the HH menu (yes still the best HH on the island). Omg the Pastitsio and the lamb soooo outstanding this platter also comes with soup and salad so half of it will be our lunch tomorrow. Don't expect fancy decor, but the place is clean as can be, and always a fun time.

Mrs L H.

Yelp
Waited 55 mins.for chicken parm. Servers have no personality. Very few words. No apology for the wait. And when I just canceled my order. He rolled his eyes and said something in a different language. I'm sure he thinks it's my fault that I was upset. Never will be back
