Kros Strain Brewing

Kros Strain Brewing is easily one of my all-time favorite breweries — not just in Omaha, but in the entire state of Nebraska. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual beer or planning a small gathering like a birthday party, this place has the space and the vibe to make it work. The taproom is spacious and inviting, and the outdoor patio is a real highlight, offering a variety of seating options — picnic tables, standard tables and chairs, and even cozy spots around a fire pit. There’s no table service here, which keeps things relaxed — just head up to the bar when you’re ready, and the staff is always friendly, quick, and happy to offer a sample or two if you’re unsure what to order. If you’re looking to try a few things, I highly recommend going with a flight. Their beer selection is strong across the board, but Fairy Nectar is my personal favorite — it’s one of the best IPAs in the region and is widely available across eastern Nebraska. You’ll also find a well-stocked cooler for to-go cans, and they even offer kegs in various sizes for home events. Beyond the beer, Kros Strain has a great merch selection — shirts, glassware, stickers, even tap handles and branded signs. The restrooms are clean, and there’s typically a food truck parked out front, plus you’re welcome to bring in outside food. They even offer beer slushies, which are a fun twist on warm days. Overall, Kros Strain delivers a top-notch experience every single time — highly recommended for locals and visitors alike!

We held our reception at Kros Strain in May and loved the experience! Kros Strain is one of our favorite breweries and we thought there was no better place to celebrate with friends and family. The space is flexible and accommodating to large groups, and allowed us to bring in catering. The staff was incredible! Tina was great to work with throughout the planning process! She made everything easy and stress free.

This place is awesome. The interior is so cool with many fun things to look at and awesome merch. The beer tender was super nice as well. The beer was delicious and always love a beer slush or option as well. Definitely recommend if you’re in the area and like craft beer.

Professional bar staff. Not overly chatty with us. Pro tip: no food here!! But they are cool if you order and get it delivered. So if you're hungry you might want to order a little earlier and time it. They were nice enough to let me get a shot of the beer pour when I asked. The flagship flight was great. $10.75 for 5 (4oz) pours. You get to choose 2 while the other 3 are static. My friend loved the place and wants to come back. He also likes the merchandise. They have some interesting offerings including a lot of their bar glasses for sale, shirts, hats and even dog treats made from the leftover grain. Parking is available in a large lot.

This is one of my favorites! They have awesome brews and the food trucks are good too! Plus you can take the puppers with and enjoy sitting by the fire on the patio!

Was visiting from the east coast and this is one of several breweries I visited. The beer here is tasty. The ferme foeder saison tasted like pickles, not my favorite. The barrel aged Octoberfest was great. The orange tangerine crush sour tasted like the soda but more tart. The sippy cup lager tastes like your standard domestic beer - nothing special. The double hopped fairy nectar was my favorite. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Some snacks here but there was a food truck outside. Decor is interesting and fun.

Came here on a Saturday at noon because my daughter, friend and I were getting pedis across the street at 1 and we wanted lunch. The rotating food trucks is fun. Burning Bridges was the food truck at that time. I ordered a burger and my daughter and friend got fried the fried chicken sandwiches. Burger was good. The fried chicken sandwiches were humongous! Neither of them could finish. And I don't like waffle fries usually because they are never crispy, but he managed crispy waffle fries! Bartender recommended two different beers and both were good. They do live music and brewery tours. Will totally be back!!

On a bike ride and had to stop by for a drink. Nice set up and lots of beer choices. However had to dry a rum slushy that is amazing. See the attached picture for the ingredients, you taste them all. Staff were friendly and a good vibe. Nice outdoor patio!

This is hands down one of the best breweries I've ever had the pleasure of visiting and I've been to a LOT of breweries. I sampled a lot of the beers and ordered a flight and just about everything they served me blew me away. This place knows how to brew some serious and also unique beers like the IPA conditioned on hemp. The location is near the college World Series stadium and some of the beer and swag incorporated the baseball theme which was very cool (I bought a few shirts). Next trip to Nebraska I'll be sure to plan a trip to La Vista to check out their main location.

Had a couple of beers here, so delish! Great outdoor area for hanging out. Excellent merch! Def recommend stopping here and hitting up the pint9 next door!

My wife and I like to come here for a beer every now and then. The service is always great with good pours and the ambience is awesome. There are food trucks usually and they have live music sometimes. Fairy Nectar is a a fan favorite but the seasonal "lil full, lotta sap" is very good if you like a hazy beer.

Stopped at Kros Strain on the spur-of-the-moment after initial dinner plans fell through and it was on the way back. Comfortable interior. The bartender was efficient and helpful. Ended up with a beer flight as seen in the attachment. Liked three out of four. Busy Busy Bees, the dark one, was definitely not for me. Fairy Nectar and Nilla Nectar were crisp and smooth. I missed not having any bar food options. Read elsewhere that a food truck is sometimes in the vicinity. Would have been really nice to grab a decent burger and fries along with. As a previous reviewer noted, although nobody was unfriendly, I did get a bit of a vibe that the crowd was mostly regulars and I was not one. Even so, I would go back without hesitation, making sure it wasn't on an empty stomach and staying far away from Busy Busy Bees.

As a Harvest Host customer, we stayed here and came in for drinks. A really cool indoor facility, 3 big rooms (high high ceilings), and great brewpub customer experience. The Fairy Nectar and Mo' Mosaic IPAs were exceptional. Very friendly and memorable stop for us.

A group of friends and I visited Kros Strain for the final stop of the Dire Lion food truck. I had never been to Kros Strain before that, and was super pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! The interior is so neat, with giant colorful murals on the walls, and cool chandeliers that look like hops, lighted up to be holiday colors (red and green) for the season we were there. You can see the room with all the equipment they use to brew their own beers (through the clear glass along the left side of the bar) which I always appreciate and think is extra cool. There is also a party room on the other side of the bar that can be rented out (it was rented out for a holiday party when we were there). The staff was super friendly and helped me find the right brew for what I was feeling: -I started with the Cornhead Lager which was a full bodied, little bit heavier-tasting, drink. One you couldn't drink very many of if you didn't want to get "full" on your beer before you had enough to actually feel a little buzz from it. The Cornhead Lager was definitely tasty, but I was looking for something a little lighter for my next drink. -I next ordered the Krossteiner, which was a Czech Pilsner, and THAT was my jam for the night. It had good crisp flavor and was a tad lighter in body than the Cornhead Lager so was a bit easier to drink for my puny stomach. I ordered a few more of these throughout the night and stuck with them for my drinks. -They also had a few non alcoholic options available, one of which was the Millstream Root Beer from Amana, IA. It was so delicious and fancy tasting, especially paired with the food from the Dire Lion. I think Kros Strain will always have food trucks that stop in, as well as their great beer options, so even though the Dire Lion (my fave) will no longer be fully operating, I think I'll definitely be stopping into Kros Strain more often now that I have experienced (and loved) it!

I don't get the opportunity to delve into Nebraska breweries much. There are a fair amount throughout the state but nothing compared to states that are of notorious nature for their craft beer. In fact as time continues to pass breweries are slowly populating all over the country more than ever... especially where tourists may go or trendy neighborhoods and city centers in larger populated areas. Kros Strain I was eager to try but the beer I had, the Web of Lies I thought was just fair. It is a hazy IPA with a passion fruit flavor. Not a bad beer but not necessarily the most memorable I've come across for this beer style. Perhaps exploring some other options like lagers I would have enjoyed more but that opportunity did not present itself. Maybe another time on that note. But all in all not a bad location and the locals seem to enjoy the place which are all good things!

It's one thing to get a 6 pack of Fairy Nectar from the local store, but it's another to get a fresh brew from Kros Strain's own taps. We stopped in last Sunday for some beers and I didn't want to leave. There are just too many great flavors on tap. My new favorite is the Citrus Hill. My husband went with the Black is Beautiful stout and he really enjoyed it. We watched the Chiefs game and enjoyed the bright airy environment. My next time I will get a flight so I can try more beers. There is also coolers you can buy for later consumption as well as tons of great giftable items for your Kros Strain lover!

Stopped in for a couple beers on a Sunday right at opening (like just turned on the 'open' light). The bartender looked like she may still be prepping and no other customers were there. The ceilings were high and there's different table variations. We ordered at the bar and grabbed a table. The bartender wasn't as talkative as I'd expect in a brewery. Since breweries commonly have new beers, I think it's important to have someone to provide guidance. The 'Hot as Helles' was as promised and probably one of my favorite hot local brews in the area. The 'Cake and Pies' was also great. It was on the sweeter side and gave my non-beer-drinking husband something to happily sip on. They also had lots of snacks that looked compelling to try on a return visit.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon and it was super busy. Luckily, I got a seat at the bar area right when someone was leaving. They've got a great selection on tap. Having tried a few of their beers, I really enjoyed the Orange Crush beer. The girls behind the bar were friendly, and for as busy as it was, we got served at a decent pace. It also made it nice that there was a food truck outside. And since it was busy it was rather loud. When I come back I'm going to choose to go on a weekday, but that could also mean that there's no food truck too. It's nice that they have beer to go, but it sucks that my favorite beer, the Orange Crush was rather pricey. The other plus is that there is another brewery right next door if you want more of a selection of beer to drink for a full afternoon of drinking.

Bartender was very kind. Ambience is solid. Not too big, not too small. Everything is clean. Beers are top notch. Fairy Nectar FTW every time!

We love Kros Strain!! The fairy nectar is always delicious and we love sitting on their patio. We always bring friends here from out of town.

Very cool place - not much of a beer drinker but they have other options. I have now been here 3 times for work parties - the party room is great. The place is clean. I am excited to spend some time one of these days checking out the live music. Wish they had food but it works great that they often have a food truck parked outside.

By far one of my favorite breweries in town. Their Fairy Nectar IPA is my go to, but I have enjoyed a lot of other beers they have had in the past. I enjoy talking with the employees working there, and I love their seating set up while visiting with friends. Plus, they have some neat hats/shirts to support your favorite brewery.

I've been there twice and both visits were underwhelming. The first experience I was denied service because I did not look "of age". The second visit I was sitting on their patio with a group of friends who had gotten some drinks and was asked to leave because I was not a paying customer. Would not recommend due to terrible service!

Ambiance was pretty cool. Long time drive by-er. 1st time walking in...ended up being pretty cool place. We will stop again.

Ive been going to Kros Strain for a few years now. After having their beers all over town, I had to stop in. large number of beers on tap with a decent variety and none that disappoint. Bold IPAs are the highlight of this brewery, with sours coming in second place. The beertenders are always friendly, and you can count on Doug for a good story or two. They are also very knowledgable about the beers on tap and can help you make a decision if you are feeling at all indecisive. Kros Strain does not serve food, only bar snacks like pretzel sticks, nuts, and jerky, but they do allow you to order food in. In addition to this every Wednesday night is food truck night , where there will be a different food truck on site that you can get dinner from if you so choose. overall I am a fan and will continue to come back to this brewery, as i think it to be the best in Omaha. Highly recommend stopping in if you find yourself in the area and are thirsty.

We came on Easter Sunday to try Kros Strain Brewing. Beer was refreshing and great. You can look at the beer selection using the QR code and you can try two samples. We waited at the bar to order and the bar tender ignored us and was at the end of the bar. When we asked about some of the beers, the bar tender was rude and uninterested. Aside from that, it was a beautiful day to sit outside in their outdoor seating. One suggestion, there could be some music outside.

Kros Strain Brewing serves a wide assortment of craft beers, so of which are truly amazing! Tip: To ensure that customers will have new options, they're regularly rotating their taps This place is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates some really good brew.  They've got everything from family-friendly events to food trucks, over and above their amazing assortments of beers on tap. Highly recommended!

The staff were super friendly and gave some great advice on beer choices. My husband chose a Dunkel while I chose the Story Time beer. I walked out with my Yelp koozies and some of their brewery swag (shirt and hat). Loved the atmosphere and can't wait to go back.

Wednesday was the official first day for business at this new location, and Kros Strain has created quite the lovely new tap room. The new mural was done by the same artist (norm4eva) who did the one at the brewery down in La Vista. Of course, they continued with their hop cone light fixtures, but they also included chairs that look they were inspired by the mosaic mural patterns. I Ah, but I'm forgetting the important thing - the beer. Kros Strain does most any style well but excels at IPAs particularly. Any variant of their Fairy Nectar is worth trying. You can have a pint at the bar and grab a seat indoors or out on the patio, or you can select a crowler or from their various refrigerated packaged beers to go. If you step out of Kros Strain though into the adjacent hall, a large space with concrete stair seating and a massive TV greets you. Signs abound with architectural plans showing off the surrounding area intent, and the bays are decorated with promising names - like Archetype. I look forward to seeing how the surrounding area develops as other businesses fill out the Millwork Commons, but I'm 100% sure I'll be back for Kros Strain.

First, let's talk about the beer. They've got a good variety, and I had their Hef. It was excellent. Really good flavor, very easy drinker. So it was the only beer I had, and leads to the 3 star review. First, there was a private event going on. One bartender taking care of the event, and it's constant flow of drinkers, and those of us waiting in line to order a beer. After 10 min in line, I wasn't about to ask to tasters to see which of their beers I'd like. Disappointed as the hef was good enough that I'd like to try others. The place is large. Has a nice patio area. The vibe was not as inviting as the one next door. Maybe it was that they had too much going on. On top of the private event, there was a runners event they were registering runners for on the patio. We enjoyed the patio, but left after one beer. Id try it again to see if this was just a one off.

Kros Strain has a very large variety of brews and describes them in detail on their website. I liked the saison that I tried.

As far as taprooms go, this place is super chill and relaxed. Kros Strain as a physical location is perfectly nested in the LaVista neighborhood in a strip mall with similar bar Pint9 next door to give you some bar hopping options. The space is warehouse modern, with glass garage door style doors and hanging "hops" lanterns. Bartenders are knowledgeable, friendly, and smiling. The beers here are quite excellent. I'm no beer genius, but I do know a good beer when I taste one, and these beers have flavor, and distinct intention as to what your taste buds should encounter. They're loud without being boastful, and impressionable without being overpowering. I highly recommend a flight here to try a little of everything. Kros Strain actually gives you a reason to leave the popular Omaha beer districts of Blackstone, Benson, Downtown to have a flight, Kombucha, or some cool sparkling hop water. Bring in your own food! It gives you a reason to seek out the burbs in an otherwise fairly residential neighborhood. Or, grab some drinks and head to Alamo nearby for a flick. You'll thank me later.

I can't make any comment about the food. However, the service is awful. We drove all the way from South Dakota, to pickup the Fairies 4 Packs, since we can't get the beverage in local stores in Omaha that we check in with nor all of South Dakota. We arrived just now, at opening time Sunday`, already to try different beverages and buy some 4-packs. I wanted to try the watermelon, but the female employee did not care to help, offer, up-sale, engage. No good morning, welcome, what brings you here, how can I help you, just "I can get you down here" when we put our 4-pacs on the counter. We did not go to the cash register initially, because we wanted to try something different. I then asked her, 'do you ship"? Her response, "Nope, I guess you can check into online beer ordering places". Well, I tried to engage, she obviously did not feel like working today or likes where she works. Just sad, she totally spoiled our exciting adventure to Kross Strain Brewing.

From a beer standpoint, maybe Omaha's (Omaha & suburbs) best beer offerings. Southern Hopisphere is outstanding. Normally staff is friendly and informative. Sadly on a taco ride night the owner shut the taps down at 8:40, even though hours are listed until 9. You would think in the struggling craft beer marketplace an owner would be receptive to patrons wanting a beer 20 min before close. Not like it was 2:00 am on a weekend. Closed doors & turned down lights with people still on the patio...liability?? Tough to patronize a place that the employees care more about customer experience than the owners.

A little outside of downtown, this brewery was an amazing find. Great vibe. Great customer service. Cool place. Awesome merchandise. And very Tasty beer. My favorite beers from them is the Fairy Nectar and the Juice and Desist. You can find their beer in many places but definitely worth the drive to go visit their tap room. Their art work painted on the wall is worth an IG picture.

This was a great visit to this brewery in La Vista. The sign and bright lights made it easy to locate from the street. Parking was ample and the entry was inviting for customers. The tables are well spaced and ordering takes place at the bar. Service was quick, efficient, and the beer list is substantial. The strawberry lager was my favorite, followed by the coffee vanilla lager. The only downside is that packaged snacks are limited and no other food is available for sale. The upside was hanging out with another elite Yelper, Eliza and her husband. Overall, a good time and I will make a return visit in the near future.

I must have had a different experience than everyone else, unfortunately. Upon walking in to Kros Strain Brewery we were greeted with vast decor. The inside is fun, doesn't really flow together but it gives you something to look at. The bartender seemed a bit stressed, or maybe was having an off day- seemed to be annoyed. Back home we go to breweries and wineries all the time. It's just something to do and there are usually games or entertainment. Kros Strain Brewery had a few TVs to watch games. The beer was 10/10, but unfortunately I didn't feel I could give them 5 stars as everything but the beer was below average. One of my favorite things to do is try new things. This being said, I like to ask the bartender questions such as "what's your most popular" or "I'm looking for an IPA, is there one your recommend" and she couldn't/wouldn't answer my questions. She pointed to the screen menu on the wall and told me to read it. It was moving so quickly I could barely keep up! I'm disappointed because seriously their beer is AMAZING. But to me, you go to a brewery for quality time with friends/family, friendly service, aesthetic seating, & small bites. They did have a food truck outside that looked pretty good (per small bites comment). I hope that after reading this review you go to Kros to experience it yourself.

We found out about this place from a local restaurant that had their Fairy Nectar IPA on tap. It was a solid beer and we were told their Fairy Nectar London (NE IPA) won an award at GABF. That got our attention being from Colorado so we drove across town to check it out. It was amazing! Great atmosphere, service and brews. They seemed to have a beer style for every preference. Their sour peach apricot beer was my personal favorite.

After having the Kros Strain beers all over town we had to stop by! The beer selection doesn't disappoint and they have plenty of seating. If your hungry they have a few pretzels but that's about it. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed being in the shade as the sun set after a 90 degree day! The only drawback would be having to order at the bar. It's pretty common with breweries, and it wasn't packed so it's easy enough.

Always plenty of taps (24 I believe). Make great, juicy hazy ipa's, stouts, and barley wines. Plenty of parking and a patio.

Kros Strain has to be one of my favorite breweries of all time. The marketing and advertising always pulls me into the the variety of beers they feature on a weekly basis. Very clean and welcoming. The staff will recognize you as a regular. I love the taste of their special batch brews and I'm always eager to try. If you want to try something off the beaten path, give this brewery a try. You won't be disappointed.

I love the beers, I love that it's local, I love that the people have always been nice, I love a lot about this place. There's just something about the space, the setup or layout, that prevents it from being five stars for me. It actually feels difficult to order a drink sometimes - like it's a struggle to figure out the right place to do it, to fight your way through to the bar even though it seems like a small enough crowd to where it shouldn't feel as hard as it does. Again though, absent that minor note, this is a great place to bring yourself and any beer appreciative friends.

We went here on a Saturday afternoon to try some beers. We each had a flight which consisted of their three main beers and two rotators. I've had the Fairy Nectar before and consider it their flagship beer It's a solid IPA. All of the beers we tried were good. I wasn't blown away by anything, but enjoyed them all. The tap room is kind of funky with some interesting art and fixtures. There's no kitchen. They have flavored peanuts and you can bring food in. They will even give you menus from places that deliver right to the tap room. Overall, a great visit.

Riding the hype train here a little but Kros Strain is making the best beers in the area right now. Add in that their taproom is a very cool spot to hang out at -- sip some suds among the mural, hops lanterns, complimentary sparkling hop water (just think: hoppy la croix), friendly bartenders et al. Their Fairy Nectar IPA is my new local go-to whenever I see it on tap. You can also find a few KS brews in bottles at local stores. However, if you stop by the brewery be sure to try some of their limited releases, including their stellar pilsner, which I hear is heading to competition at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. If you're at all into craft beer, you got to head here. It's worth the drive across town for me!

First time visiting! Great atmosphere, great staff & some AWESOME BEER! A must to try if you love craft beer.

I went to Kros Strain with low expectations as it is in a strip mall along a lonely stretch of Portal Rd, but once you open the door you are transported into a special place. You are greeted by this magnificent mural on the west wall that is just mesmerizing. We saddled up to the bar and immediately noticed the Hop Lights. We were told they were advertised as Pine Cones, but put green lights in them and they magically become Hops! Of course we each ordered a flight, the first three are already determined, Helles Creek, a lager, Dark Paradise Amber Ale, an English Mild Ale, and Fairy Nectar IPA, but then you can choose two more from a choice of four, and I got BRU-1 a DIPA and Dark Paradise Project 1-Rwanda - a mild English Ale. They all had a distinctiveness without getting precocious, all on the lighter end. Kros Strain belongs to the newly dubbed La Vista Pint-a-gon joining neighbor Pint Nine, Nebraska Brewing Company, Lucky Bucket and Infusion Brewing. They are part of the Pint-a-gon Tap Room Bicycle Ride (the next will be on 9/9/17) which will grow in the near future. They are right along the Papio Creek Bike Trail, and as you can see we had a group show up while we were there. All in all, it was a great visit, I hope they will become an official UnTappd location to see their new brews, so don't let the strip mall throw you off, give them a try!

Nice tap room in La Vista, very roomy and comfortable with a large patio and lots of beer choices served by friendly people. I would put Kros Strain in the top 3 of all the Nebraska breweries, they always have creative and well crafted brews. Last Saturday some friends and I sampled beers and almost all were winners, highlights included the Oktoberfest, the Helles, and the sour. The only misstep was their take on seltzer, not my cup of tea, but others might like it. I do wish they had food, because there isn't anything close by to eat, although they do sometimes have good food trucks on weekends.

Dear Omaha, definitely make your way over to Kros Strain, it's worth the short trip! Flights of 5 are just $8 and come with three "regulars," which are the Helles Creek lager, Dark Paradise amber ale, and Fairy Nectar IPA. You get to choose the other two, so I chose the Fairy Nector Project london and the Supajuice double IPA. I liked all five, but think beer preference can differ from person to person, so I would encourage folks to come try for themselves. You've heard of water, right? Well have you heard of citra hopped sparkling water?? Because that's what they'll give you for FREE if you order water. It's AMAZING. Lastly, the space is really cool, Very open and airy with thoughtful beer-centric details (like hop-shaped slights hanging over the bar).
