When Bangkok empties out during the Songkran holiday, it’s a good time to visit famous eateries that are usually packed with locals and tourists.
We took advantage of a much quieter Bangkok to visit Krua Apsorn last Thursday and what a good decision that was.
Of the dishes we ordered - the seafood yum won seen (vermicelli salad), chicken fried rice, stir fried telosma cordata flowers, squid salad, stinky bean salad, fishball curry stood out. They were sensational. The dishes stood out for their freshness, clean flavors, balance, and cooking perfection.
They let the ingredients speak for themselves - a nice change from some eateries that often overdo the seasoning or cooking or spice. Not all Thai cuisine is hot and spicy.
Next level home cooking is a good way to describe Krua Apsorn’s menu and finished product. Prices are also okay for this quality of food, and the restaurant’s global reputation (great reviews from The NY Times & Guardian & more).
Often hyped eateries don’t live up to the reputation but this isn’t the case for Krua Apsorn and we’re already looking forward to our next visit to try their signature crab curry and crab omelette dishes.
