13 Spots Ladling Out Truly Satisfying Ramen in Montreal

"Diners eat in cubicles at Kumamoto, where after looking at the menu, they must hit a button to order. Ramen options abound, but the specialty here is the traditional pork bone broth, to be had plain, laden with black garlic, or spicy — with a choice of wavy or straight noodles." - Valerie Silva, Ivy Lerner-Frank

The Best Restaurants for Eating Alone in Montreal - Eater Montreal

"Inspired by the anonymity of Ichiran “flavour concentration booth” ramen shops, the long dining hallway at Kumamoto might feel more like a library corridor than a restaurant: each individual table has walls on either side that create an intimate experience between the diner and their bowl. Orders are taken without having to speak to a server; once your meal is delivered, the blinds go down and you can slurp away in total privacy." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

Google
i liked this place a lot and thought it was a lovely atmosphere. the food is good, not outstanding, but flavorful and in good portions. good spice to the spicy ramen as well. one thing i would highly recommend is getting an extra egg with ur ramen!! it is definitely more pricier than it should be.

Bad services!!! Rude . We had not yet finish ordering. The server went away. And return different orders. And push us to have all. Which we couldn’t finish. We did not wanna waste food, but still push us to have all. Quality of foods: + super less soup ! As pictures. Soup is less than the noodle. Not match to the picture or doesn’t make sense. We ordered extra noodle too. But we couldn’t enjoy it because there were not enough for for 1 at all……. Secondly, soup wasn’t hot! It was just warm. Thirdly, we ordered the grilled octopus, which tasted like boil octopus with some sauce…. Didn’t taste like grilled at all. And it costed $18.99+ tax…. Totally we spent $50 over at the restaurant…. Don’t feel worth it. I would rather instant noodle…

Google
Awesome concept! You can go alone and not feel lonely at all or you can go with friends. Service is friendly and fast. The place is clean and trustworthy. The food was ok, nothing extraordinary though. A tad pricey… We ordered Takoyaki and Poku gyoza for appetizer and both were acceptable. The ramen we chose was Kumamoto Tonkotsu and Tantan men with additions of kimchi. Both ramen bowls were just a little disappointing with mostly noodles but still good to finish them. Kimchi was really good but not enough to beat the slight disappointment of the ramen, somehow we expected more from this place. I still recommend it strongly! Must visit for the concept at least once!

Google
Great place to dine alone. The atmosphere here is definitely a 5/5. They sit you down in a small encapsulated booth with a self-serve fountain and a small buzzer. They have a straightforward menu with your traditional Japanese dishes. The ramen was 4/5. Not as flavorful as the other local ramen joints and the portions were also quite small for the price that they charge.

Initially wanted to have some lunch at Sammi Dumpling but the place was jammed packed on a Sunday at noon. We decided to try something new and ventured into Kumamoto Ramen. Place looked really cool. Has the traditional individual stalls where they serve you by lifting the bamboo blinds. They also have a section with tables where we ate at as we were 4 people. There is a bell where you push when you are ready to order and once pushed, a waitress magically appears at your table. The order taking was fast and efficient however the food deliver to the table was another matter. We ordered several appetizers, three ramen bowls and one pork tonkatsu. The first appetizer, the octopus balls came out in about 15 minutes along with one is the main course, the tonkatsu 5 minutes later. The tonkatsu was finished and the three other ramen bowls still did not come out yet, neither did the three other appetizers. The ramen finally came out another 12 minutes later but still no sign of the rest of the appetizers. I asked the waitress what’s going on and she said it’s coming? Patiently waiting another 15 minutes no appetizers. The waitress then came by and said they had no more fried tofu. We said just no problem and the two appetizers finally showed up. Not too sure what happened there but the table the came in a lot later after us received their appetizers and ramen bowls in super quick time, they actually received their entire meals before we received our appetizers. Taste wise the ramen broth was quite bland like it was diluted with water and warm not hot. The noodles had a decent texture, however, for 17$ it felt like we received a 10$ bowl of ramen. As a matter of fact, the fried tempura vegetables and chicken karrage appetizers were tiny for the price. Taste was ok. The tempura was very soggy with lots of oil, so it was not fried adequately. The pork katsu was expensive for 18$. Not too much food for what they are charging. The katsu was very very thin and small. Sauce was simply a mixture of soya and worstershire sauce. Another dish that should have been priced at 9.99$ The octopus balls were pretty good. It came with 4 decent size balls and probably the only thing that was tasty. Had high hopes at Kumamoto Ramen but everyone at the table was let down with the service and food considering the high prices. It’s even more upsetting that a table is 5 that came in later got served way quicker than us. Overall rating I would give it a 2.5 out of 5.

Google
I like not being bothered by staff all the time so if you prefer being alone sometimes, it’s a good place to eat freely. The ramen is pretty good, somewhat pricy for my own taste. The ramen isn’t scalding hot, and I prefer that. Ikayaki isn’t worth it. Also the fishes they have by the door looks like they have a very miserable life. Please consider putting in some decorations in that aquarium.

Google
Unique and authentic Japanese experience with the individual booth. Although it makes an interesting visit, the food did not deliver. The karaage was too oily, not crispy and underseasoned. We took both the black garlic and spicy ramen. The eggs that we added were extremely salty. The broths were oily and made it very heavy by the end. The saving grace was the takoyaki, good flavour and texture! And as other mentioned, quite pricey bill for two people! 80$!

Google
Unfortunately did not have all items in the menu so I was a bit disappointed but the food was pretty good regardless. Returned for what I initially wanted (the gyudon) and they had it on the menu, but another item was missing (konkorokke). Overall the food was really really good. The small deep fried octopi was great. The gyudon was good but on the smaller side. They served it with kimchi and miso soup which is nice. On a side note tasted the supposedly tonkotsu ramen and it had a brown broth and tasted more akin to shoyu.

Yelp
TLDR: Personally my favourite solo date spot in MTL because of the service and the vibes. The entire layout is made to make sure you can be comfy as a party of one or a party of more. POINTS: Restaurant vibes - Overall incredible. Decor is beautiful and so functional (plus one for having individual water fountains for refillable drinks). I really love how the private stall seating ensures privacy to allow people with low social batteries to enjoy food without having to deal with the usual social interactions required for in person dining. Food - A bit overpriced for portion sizing (but also understandable and still worth it for the occasional treat). I personally enjoy the appetizers the most. But the ramen is quite flavourful and soothing for cold winters. Service - Speedy and friendly, I give them props for being able to manage that many stalls with so much efficiency :)

Yelp
Wanted to try out this place because of its unique ambiance, similar to Japanese ramen locations. The ambiance was indeed unique. There was individual booths where you fill out a sheet to order and you have a button to press everytime you want service. However, the ramen was ok. I ordered tantan Men, and the broth was not as flavourful as other locations. The prices were also a bit high for the quality. Overall, it's great for the ambiance, but there can be better places for ramen.

Yelp
they have the super cool single seater places where you dont have to see anyone at all to order thats so slay!! the food is yum yum also the ramen had decent flavor and portion i was so full of soup

Nivetha S.

Yelp
The ramen here was so goood !!! We got the pork and chicken ramen and the broth was so flavourful and good The matcha cheesecake was so so good

Yelp
Ok so it's a chain ramen restaurant but this location has the decor but the food was lacking flavour. The soup broth was not seasoned, the portions are small, the karaage was under seasoned and the corn croquettes were drowning in sauce and tasted bitter from old oil. I would recommend that you passed this place for any other place around.

Yelp
Let me start by stating that the food was tasty. Probably should have turned away after the not so welcoming greeting from the hostess. We were promptly ignored upon arrival and only after asking her would it be possible to get the table she said maybe only to walk away and not once got back to us. After about 10 minutes one of the servers asked if we were waiting for a table and then we were finally seated. We promptly ordered and one of our entrees arrived some point later leaving the rest of the party to stare at me while I ate. We inquired twice about the rest of the order and it only arrived after we said to cancel it for I was already done with my food. It's a shame for the food was indeed good but the non existent service made the experience regrettable.

Yelp
Feels like a library design with individual seating. It's definitely targeted towards university students given the individualistic setup, and it's designed for quick turnover as well. I came here not expecting top quality ramen, but something that's reasonably priced given the quality. For about $17 after tax it was a bit above what I wanted to pay, but it wasn't too terrible. I had the Kumamoto Tonkotsu. The broth and chashu were quite good. The noodles were less so, a bit overcooked for what I anticipated. I like the custom style though, since I always prefer wavy ramen over straight, and fatty over lean chashu. It wasn't too busy when I went, though it was around 8pm over the holidays. Not a lot of students were around. Service was a bit disorganized, a couple of times despite me ringing the bell, nobody ever came. For Montreal quality ramen this place isn't bad.

Yelp
The decor and system of this place rocks. Every table and seat comes with a button that you press when you're ready to order. They have seats at the bar where you can even get served in front of you. The bar seats can be adjusted so you can see your neighbours if you're in a group. The only problem is that the latch to remove the separators protrudes and I kept hitting my elbow on it. The ramen is gooood. Their broth is great, noodles standard, and meat not too fatty. I got the original so it was a really basic bowl but still good. Wish they had a fried chicken bowl. It's just a bit expensive and everything added is an extra. Worth it for a fancy ramen night out though.

Yelp
The décor is appealing but it's already the third or fourth time In a row that we go to Kumamoto for a decent ramen, and we keep being disappointed. I like to think they had higher food standards when they first opened. I enjoyed their ramen a couple times in its early days. Now the food is bland, not flavourful and sometimes looks a little bit questionable when it comes to the quality / freshness of the meats. I usually finish my ramen to the lat drop. This one was left half full in the dish, so I would just have enough food in my stomach to make it to supper tonight. Not impressed, don't recommend until they put an actual effort in stepping it up in the kitchen.

Yelp
For a Montreal ramen I guess this is acceptable. It has a nice Japanese setting with individual booths. Ramen: I ordered the classic tonkotsu. Broth definitely needs flavor and is not rich enough. Chashu (pork) was overcooked, and Tamago (egg) was cold. Noodles were nothing special. It is overpriced for the portion I received as well Overall a disappointment, the setting and service doesn't help the rating here. Ichifuku right in front is a much better option.
google avatar

Ngan Ha H.

Yelp
We came here cuz of our curiosity and the decoration and the concept of Kumamoto. Food is not good to be honest... Maybe the worst eel rice I've had in Montreal. Ramen is too pricy at this quality. We won't come back here.

Yelp
Best ramen spot in Montreal! The prices are a bit high though but the ambience really makes up for it. It feels very nice and homey. The ramen is amazing and the sides too!!! 10/10

Yelp
Was drawn in by the Kumamoto aeathetics and was pleasantly surprised that it was private dining ramen. Quite common in Japan but very uncommon here in Canada. It was a nice change of pace. I enjoyed how convenient it was to fill out a sheet and press a button to give my order. The ramen itself was fantastic. I got the Kumamoto Tonkotsu. I'm from Vancouver and I've had pretty much all of the ramen there, so I would say it's quite on par. I loved it a lot that I even drank all of the broth. That's usually how I know it was a great bowl of ramen.

Yelp
The chicken (karage) is not fresh, the solution is very disappointed, the worst experience ever. I ordered a combo named "karage spicy tongutsu" (like this) which cost almost $19 before tax. While eating the ramen, I also wanted to have some karage (the fried chicken). However, when I had the first bite, I was sure that the chicken was not fresh. Then I had a second bite just to confirm. It's quite smelly. I called the server, first they wanted to offer me another plate of karage, but it makes no sense to change for a new plate if the chicken has rotted. I asked them to taste the chicken, and give me refund because I feel like vomiting and can't continue my dinner although I'm not full yet. They rejected to try the chicken because they "serve all the customers with the same chicken, didn't make a special dish for you" , their food"has no problem", and they said "karage comes with the ramen in the combo, since you already finished your ramen, we can't give you refund." That's ridiculous, 1st, I didn't "finish" my ramen, I only ate half of it but have to stop because the chicken made me feel sick. 2nd, that is not an excuse for avoiding the responsibilities. Finally, they said the best solution they can offer is to five me a 15% off. I paid not because I accept this solution, just because I have other plan tonight and can't waste more time there. But I am very disappointed with what they did. I will never go to KUMAMOTO RAMEN again!!!

Yelp
This ramen restaurant is actually solo-friendly. You can get a individual seating, eat and leave quickly. Service is great and staff are friendly. I took the Red Tonkotsu Ramen (spicy pork broth). You actually get to customize your ramen just like the other ramen restaurant. Broth: Nothing special. Decent taste. Noodle: You can choose between straight and wavy noodle. I opted for the wavy one - Nothing special. Chashu: Not bad but it was too thinly sliced which kind of dissolve into the ramen. The ramen also comes with chop suey, scallion, wood-ear mushroom and a half boiled egg. The ramen is actually pricier than the nearby ramen. Overall Decent ramen. Nothing special.

Yelp
If I can give no star I will give no star. The service was terrible. They use a bell system so you can call your server who took forever to come and never answered my wife's service call. We already explained to them we waited awhile for them to answer the service call but the server didn't seem to care and took a even longer time to come the next time. And by the way, the servers are behind a curtain so you have no idea who the person looks like so you don't even know who you are paying tips to.

Yelp
Real disgusting , too much oils too much salt, instantaneous ramen tastes better than this. Dont waste your money here

Yelp
My boyfriend and I tried this ramen restaurant for lunch today. We were very surprised by it. Decors reminds me the time I was in Japan. Private sitting just like in Japan ramen restaurant (waitress push the little wall between us so we can talk together) The water is self-serve at your place on your left. Menu is large and has pictures for every items with prices. You write your order on a piece of paper and call the waitress by pressing a button in front of you. She will bring up the curtain in front of you to get your order and serve you. We both got the original tonkutso ramen with not fatty pork. I personally add kimchi to it as well. Between wavy and straight noodle, I preferred the taste of the straight ones. The broth is tasty. It's very filling (I couldn't finish mine and I eat a lot). It wasn't the best ramen I had (the ones in Japan are better) but they are still very good. I would come back to eat there again :) 10% discount for students at lunch :) I would suggest it to anyone who want a good ramen near concordia university. Go for the experience! It's like being in Japan within Montreal :D
google avatar

Dan P.

Yelp
Japanese ramen in the down town area close to Concordia university and guy metro. I was impressed with the design. The spacers and individual seats feels like a library. It's surrounded by tables and chairs. I did find the ring on the tables when u reuest for service. I was there when the place was not too busy however I can see that being slightly anoying if the place is full since it's a bit loud. I had the spicy chicken (the hot source was added to the spoon so I can increase the intensity) the fried chicken was tender and crispy. I did enjoy the flavor. My friend ordered garlic oil Black Tonkosu she really enjoyed the flavor and it wasn't too much garlic. The pork was supposed to be lean (more like less fatty) The order form is clear and simple 3 steps plus desert. You can choose options.. I recommend the egg if it doesn't already come with. They don't offer wifi .. (disappointing for down town and student area) Staff was polite and did offer assistance when if came toorder.

Yelp
Nice concept, not so great food. This place inspires itself from ramen places in Japan where you can sit alone in your own booth and have minimal interaction with others. You sit down in your own booth, fill your order on a sheet of paper, then you ring the bell. Someone will then come to pick up your order through the curtain in front of you. The decor of the restaurant is nice. As mentioned earlier, this concept is also unique. That being said, their food did not impress me at all. At the price of 13$ for a bowl of ramen, it goes more on the expensive side. Such with nice decor, I was expecting a good bowl of ramen reminiscing me of my good days of Japan. Sadly, I was greatly underwhelmed. The quantity was very little for the price. There were 2 thin slices of pork, a few noodles, and some bean sprouts. The flavors were very bland also. At the beginning, it felt very flavorful but it got salty very quickly. By the end of the bowl, I was left unsatisfied. Overall, I would not recommend this place to someone else since the food was not great at all. Unless they change their chef or the way they make their food, then I might give it a try. PS. They were running a promotion where if you give more than 4 stars on Google Reviews or Yelp, so beware of their inflated reviews on Google!

Yelp
I came here with a friend for a girl's night- and we were CRAVING ramen. She mentioned it's a new place that opened up corner St.Mathieu/St. Catherine. Location is not hard to find, if you look to the right of the star of L'Inde. DECOR: loved it! So new and hip- group of 4 or less people are seated along 2 strips of "booths"-almost like library stalls with a hallway between these two strips. You get placed at a booth that is numbered. There is a personal water fountain/dispenser on your left- which gets a bit messy because you are always spilling water on the table. Then there is a button on the right that you press when you are ready to order food or have questions (almost like a flight attendant button? but for food!) and the server will up and pull this curtain up to serve you -felt like i was playing kitchen in grade school! MENU: Super simple. You're given a menu: sides-include fried octopus balls, edamame, fried chicken etc. (min 7$); ramen- spicy/black garlic/bbq/classic pork and veggie- not much option for people that want variety (min 14$) and you pay for extra toppings (3$-6$ rediculous -a 3$ egg- and 3$ for 4 strips of nouri-get real people!!); there is a non-alcoholic drink menu and dessert menu as well.Once you have decided your choices you check it off on a paper menu, press the button and give your order in. MY MEAL:I had the black garlic pork ramen with extra nouri and an egg. I paid 27$ with tip (for weird service-keep reading) for ONE RAMEN DISH- NOT WORTH IT! I have been to kinton ramen and other competitors that offer toppings for 1$ a piece but lets be really if they want to get pricey with their menu- add more choice of food. The ramen was good though- a large serving with good seasoned pork that melted away with the egg; the noodles were a bit undercooked- and traditional Japanese spoons ( I found hard to eat with- maybe because I am left handed?? no idea) SERVICE: weird. I feel there this a trend at a lot of restaurants I have been going to in the Concordia region hire students that LACK customer service skills. For example- I paid by debit and the first time the transaction didn't work- the girl hands me back the machine and says it's my card. I laugh and respond I think it's the wifi reception- second time? no problems- BUT DONT BLAME your customers. #2 They give out cards to collect points for the 11th ramen free. Knowing I wouldn't be coming back here- I asked her if I could give my stamp to my friend-cashier says no- its one stamp per person per purchase?? again- makes no sense- why the big deal? like seinfeld- no ramen for you! Like any new venue- this place needs some work, I am curious to read the reviews in a couple of months. But for now, if you are really craving ramen and are on a budget-do your research and don't splurge here.

Yelp
I actually enjoyed my evening at Kumamoto they just opened and were doing a soft launch. The decor and setup is really special and like nothing I've seen in Montreal. There are individual stalls that you can open or close if you're a group. You press a button when you're ready to order and they open a curtain to serve you as the kitchen is in the centre of the restaurant! You also have individual tap water faucets at every table. It's ramen place so I ordered the spicy pork ramen with a side of friend chicken. The fried chicken was well prepared crispy on outside and large juicy price of chicken on the inside ! The ramen was nice too, not the best noodles I've tried but it was a great quality thick broth with right level of spice, plenty of vegetables and of course some nice pieces of pork. I've tried pretty much every ramen place in Montreal and can say this one has great potential!

Yelp
First of all the decor of this restaurant is incredibly cute and very reminiscent of a real Japanese ramen joint. The restaurant tries its best to recreate an authentic Japanese experience with its decor and ramen options. This is where the similarities end though, the restaurant fails to recreate the authentic experience because most of their ramen options are overpriced and flavourless. I ordered the vegetable ramen and it was as if somebody threw some boiled vegetables and noodles into hot water and called it ramen. In addition, it's way too expensive for the tiny portion of whatever they're serving. On top of everything, the staff is quite rude from the very small interactions they'll have with you. The only redeeming quality of this place is their decor because everything else fails to hit the mark.
google avatar

Yelp
I wrote a five is because of its food quality. I've ordered eel rice and the hot pot One word: nice. The good thing is this restaurant has a stress free eating environment where you can totally eating alone without any distractions. They offer single sits at the bar Price is a bit pricy, but it's worthy.

Yelp
I freaking love Kumamoto, I love everything about it, the concept, the food quality, the friendly staff! - The best ramen I've had so far. A bit pricy but worth it! :)

Yelp
Decided to try this place out on a Saturday evening, where we were seated pretty quickly in a booth for 2. The service was very quick as there is a button to call a waiter/waitress to your booth, and you get your own water dispenser. I ended up trying their Black Tonkotsu Ramen which is a pork broth with black garlic oil while my bf decided to try their Chicken ramen which is a light chicken broth. For our sides, we decided to try their chicken karaage and takoyaki. After trying many other ramen places, as much as this place gave a new experience in eating ramen in a booth, their ramens were simply okay, with the broths being not as flavourful but quite light. The black tonkotsu ramen had a little more flavour due to the garlic oil, but it was still not impressing. However, their karaage was pretty good, being crispy on the outside and still juicy in the inside. Their takoyaki was also good however I wish they put a little more sauce. Overall, the experience of this restaurant and it's quick service makes it worthwhile to try, however their food is a little underwhelming. If you're looking for a place simply for ramen, I would recommend other places.

Yelp
Spicy Tonkatsu Karaage combo + Regular Tonkatsu ramen * 44$ tax and tips incl * Overall, good and porky flavour, decent soup texture * Despite that they questionably threw a giant bowl of rice into the combo, the karaage chicken was really good * Broth for the spicy Tonkatsu had a bitter after taste, not sure what the purpose was * Average price for ramen but a little disappointed by the quantity of meat - two paper slices of meat literally * The pork seemed marinated in soy sauce, so there was a bit of an over taste of salt. * Other than these little things. I do recommend. Ambiance was really nice

Yelp
Had the vegetarian ramen. The noodles were ok and the toppings fresh, but as far as ramen goes, the proof is in the broth. And that broth was screaming for flavor, or at least a good dash of soy or hot sauce. Alas - they were not available and the dining experience was bland and joyless. The portion was also rather small for the price. Luckily ramen restos are ubiquitous in the area, so just go somewhere else.

Yelp
Good lamen and good services! Chicken is juicy and delicious price is not expensive, it's like about 15$ for regular lamen. Will come later!

Yelp
I can say good for new restaurants! I hope they can keep this quality of food. I would like to give 5 star. But I give 4 star because of the time that we was in waiting for more then 60 mins. they have error of our order. The foods are good! I Recommended!

Yelp
Interesting concept, with individual cubicles and rapid service. The Kumamoto ramen was nothing special, though, far from the best in Montreal. The seaweed salad was good.

Yelp
Fun place with quick service and good food. Karaage is so juicy and their ramens are as good as the first time! The ambiance is really nice even if you're alone, there is some individual seats available.

Yelp
I loved the concept of the restaurant. Individual wooden paneled booths (walls can be folded down if you are a group of 2+) with water taps at each booth. To order, you fill out a menu paper and ring the bell for service. Sometimes you're just not in the mood for waiters/waitresses. Service was prompt and efficient. This resto loses stars with regards to the food. I ordered the black garlic ramen. Broth was missing depth and most disappointing of all, the cha-su. It was very pale in color and just looked overall unappetizing. It was tender though. Perhaps I am used to cha-su that is grilled instead of boiled as I assume this one was. Hubby had a spicy ramen with ground pork which he enjoyed. I would go back and try something else on the menu next time. The interior is just too un

Yelp
Giving 4 stars because I like the place. Japan feels. :) Nice servers too. Food was just so-so.

Yelp
Sit down at a window, fill out your order card, and your food appears magically :) I had the spicy pork ramen, which was excellent and reasonably priced. The sake and green tea go great with the food on a cold, Montreal night.

Yelp
Nice decor and atmosphere. You wouldn't feel lonely eating alone because they have cute isolated bar tables. Good service. Worst ramen I've ever had in Montréal downtown.

Yelp
Sick and tired of the glut of ramen places that have noodled their way all over the city in the last three years? You don't have to be anymore! Go to Kumamoto and enjoy its authentic weirdness. And its tasty ramen. Sit by yourself in a private stall, complete with its own bamboo curtain and water fountain. Press a button when you're ready to order and wait for the server to shuffle over to you and speak neither English or French. Take a mind vacation. You could be anywhere. Tokyo. Vancouver. Brazil. And make sure to check out the secret second menu on the chopstick holders. I ordered the spicy broth and enjoyed the ramen more than Ichifuku across the street. I'd say it's better than many of the weak reviews it's receiving here on Yelp and definitely worth a visit...

Yelp
If i could leave a zero rating i would even minus rating! This place used to be my go to ramen place in mtl but today i had the WORST experience here! I went there and ordered a glass of Sapporo beer and 2 bowls of ramen. The beer came first! I TOOK ONE SIP and the beer was flat and warm and i called the server to let her know nicely whether i can replace it with the house beer instead. Another server came and told me that you drank it and you touched it means you have to pay for it. I was in shocked cause this was the first time it happened to me that the server just pretty much told me that you are responsible for something that you have ordered even tho it literally wasn't good and it took me ONE sip, just one sip!!Who drinks warm beer? I am a foodie and i go to a lot of restaurants on a daily basis and i also work in a food industry so i know , but this one took another level of bad service. In the end i went to the cash and paid for the beer that i took ONE sip of. Oh and the icing of the cake is when i went to the cash to paid for my beer that i just took ONE sip of, i told the lady/ manager of what just happened, she told me its that they're just following company policy! What company policy? So if the ramen that i have ordered turned sour/ bad/ anything they would tell me i have to pay for it even tho i just took one bite of it?? I'm so so disappointed and would never ever come back as a customer. Such a bad experience

Yelp
Not good at all ! Very disappointed. Decoration is nice but thats it. The cubicle with the curtain in front of you is to keep you from seeing other people spit they food. I spitted every bite.

Yelp
Having been in japan this is probably the most authentic ramen place i have ever been to!the setting is unique in that every stall is individual and you have these cool ordering buttons so you're never waiting for a server! I ordered the kumamoto ramen and would do it anyday again! I highly recommend trying this place although it is a little more expensive than usual ramen places (13.99 and up for a ramen) I recommend the original kumamoto ramen but take the spicy!

Yelp
Perfect spot if you are having lunch or dinner solo. Ramen is a bit expensive compared to other places, but I believe that it is also better. Lunch specials are worth it though.

Yelp
This was my second time having ramen in Montreal (I'm quite skeptical when it comes to ramen) and I really enjoyed this one! Apart from the fact that the broth wasn't salted enough, I liked the taste of it and the noodles as well. I got the vege ramen btw! I also really love the setting of this place since you get a lot of privacy. The seats are similar to counter seats except there's a curtain in front of you which only opens when you order your food. I went with another friend so they opened up the separation barrier between our seats so we could talk!

Yelp
The place is absolutely adorable, love the ambiance, decoration and everything. At first I was also really happy that the menu had quite a short list of items, it usually means that the restaurant masters these few meals... but I was so wrong. I ordered the vegetarian ramen. It was so tasteless. Just like water with boiled vegetables in it, and some noodles. Nothing else, no spice no flavor, no seasoning. It was so boring. In addition the service is quite poor. I wanted to add some soy sauce to have at least a bit of flavor, the waitress answered, it's only for the cooks we don't give it to customers. So I ended up not eating my meal at all. Anyway, don't waste your money in this overpriced restaurant. Definitively better to cook your own ramen at home

Yelp
Taste under average, so overpriced. The ramen soup is warm-cold. We spent $75 include taxes and tips for two ramen and two snacks. But I like the decorations and the cute ramen bowl.

Yelp
$25 for a bowl of soup, with 2 small slices of pork BBQ, definitely not worth the price.

Yelp
Love their service! Good food! Clean place. It's just that they don't have a lot of option on the menu and the price is okay. A bit expensive to me tho.

Yelp
Excellent tonkatsu ramen in downtown Montreal. The original soup was rich and savory. Wavy noodles were perfect. Chashu (2 slices of pork) was savory and delicious. Eggs (2 halves, non-marinated) were soft and runny. Don't be intimidated by the queue. It's actually the line to pay, not the line to be seated. Kumamoto (多博) offers private (single) seating with dividers and curtains, similar to Ichiran (一蘭). The original tonkatsu ramen costed $11.99 after $2 discount (original price $13.99), while tonkatsu black costed $13.99 after $2 discount (original price $15.99). It would be really expensive without the discount.
