Kuma’s Corner Calling it Quits in Fulton Market After Seven Years - Eater Chicago

"Kuma’s Corner’s seven-year run in Fulton Market is coming to an end. The burger restaurant will close on Friday, November 1, confirms owner Ron Cain. The original announcement came earlier in October via WGN-TV. Cain says workers were informed of the pending closure at 852 W. Fulton Market on Monday, October 1. After the shutter, three Kuma’s locations would remain: the original in Avondale, a suburban restaurant in Schaumburg, and another in Indianapolis. The chain debuted 19 years ago at 2900 W. Belmont Avenue. The restaurant was a pioneer, open in Avondale before venues like Honey Butter Fried Chicken, Parachute, Beer Temple, and Dmen Tap arrived. Kuma’s quickly gained credibility for loud music, often showcasing bands on independent labels. As the hype increased, folks not into that music scene began infiltrating the restaurant and Kuma’s turned down the volume. Ron Cain, Mike’s brother, bought the business and the restaurant added locations in Lakeview, Schaumburg, and Vernon Hills. Kuma’s also poured beer from local craft breweries, which appealed to suburban dads. When Kuma’s opened in Fulton Market, it was a departure from the independent vibe of the original. The restaurant wanted to compete in an area crowded with restaurants along Fulton Market and near Randolph Restaurant Row. The bar that once detested bros and ballcaps was now inviting them inside to watch the game and even advertising on sports radio. However, COVID arrived in 2020, and the pandemic crushed restaurants. Inflation remains, even after a vaccine. Ron Cain blamed inflation for the Fulton Market closure, saying economic forces made operating the restaurant unsustainable. The local craft beer scene has also imploded in recent years, with breweries closing at a record clip. Additionally, the parent company behind Kuma’s in June filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. At the time, Ron Cain said he expected the company to emerge from the filing as a health entity. In September, Ron Cain’s attorneys submitted a plan to pay off $3.4 million in debt (which includes a $2.5 million claim from Mike Cain), according to court documents. Chapter 11 offers protection, so parties who file don’t pay the full amount of what’s owed. Instead, they pay a portion or a fair pro-rata share. The next court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, November 20." - Ashok Selvam

Google
This place is frickin sick. Straight up Rock and Metal. The burgers are so good. I ordered the Metallica and loved it. The buffalo sauce, blue cheese, and onions worked well. My only wish is that the burger was juicier, the patty is too lean for my liking. Still had great flavor.

Google
Pros: good location, nice atmosphere, good prices for the area, quick service, wide choice of beer on tap Cons: food is average, burger was a mixed bag. the meat tasted nice and was well seasoned but dry, I asked for medium and I got well done. Fries were extremely salty. Top side of bun wasn’t toasted or buttered/mayo. I guess the place is quite decent as a bar in the west loop but the food is lacking, they perhaps offer too many choices, should focus on a smaller menu and help the chef cope better. Pretzel bun might not be the best choice. Service was ok but nothing special

Google
The mac and cheese was amazing! The burgers were very good, but the meat was on the bland side for all of us. The staff was fantastic and got us seated, served, and refills, all very quickly. The atmosphere was as expected clean and rock theme, but the bathroom stall was missing a latch and lock, so....

Google
Our first time here. Really loved the music (what a fun surprise)! The burgers were phenomenal and the fries were exceptional! We all enjoyed our food. My mom RAVED about the root beer and wants to come back juat for that 🤣🤣💀

Google
Food didn’t taste good. I asked for medium burger and it was brought up well done. Salad on a side for 5$ instead of the fries had too much dressing on top. Ketchup was to sour. We didn’t like the food. The customer service is outstanding and great beer selection as well as the atmosphere.

Google
I normally enjoy Kuma's, but this time was a little disappointing. I have no complaints about anything except the food. I was really surprised to see elotes mac on the menu and ordered it in place of an appetizer. It looked (and smelled) amazing, but the taste was not. The whole thing tasted like lime juice to the point where it overpowered every other ingredient. I couldn't eat much due to how sour it was. Next was the main dish. I got the Led Zeppelin which has "bbq" pulled pork, bacon, pickles, and cheddar. On the menu, it didn't mention the alcohol that's in the pork. I had to scrape the pulled pork off of the burger because it tasted like a straight shot of whiskey. I had my partner try it and he agreed. He couldn't eat more than the sample bite he took. Granted you won't get drunk from eating it, but if this burger was the first thing you woke up to eat, your stomach would turn. I'd really suggest laying off of the alcohol so customers can actually taste the meat. I would've sat at the bar if I wanted to drink.

Google
I've been here several times, but today was absolutely amazing! Everything about the food was stellar, I just HAD to tell our server it's better than it usually is (despite it always being good!). Apparently the head chef was in today and he was making the food when we ordered. Hopefully next time I come it's just as impressive :) FYI, it was my friend's first time in the city. Kuma's (one of my favorite burger joints) was the first place I took him. He was impressed. Thanks to the staff as per usual. Another great experience.

Google
Due to a long wait at our original destination we ended up here for some food and I'm glad we did! This place has an interesting atmosphere with the metal vibe. There is a decent amount of seating, inside and out. Music is fairly loud, so be prepared if that's not your thing. On to the good stuff... The food! We started off with some perfectly crisp fried pickles. Paired well with the dipping sauce. I went with the Kuma burger and it was flavorful, cooked to perfection, and topped with that delicious runny egg. Highly recommend! Make sure you get an assortment of their sauces to go with your fries too! The buffalo sauce on the chicken tenders was 🔥 and the Mac and cheese was also excellent!

Yelp
A very busy pub located in the West Loop serving creative burgers and craft beers plus they play a great rock n roll soundtrack. We decided to stop in for a late lunch before going to see Metallica at Soldier Field. The server had us wait about 10 minutes even tho they were not crowded. Maybe a shift change? Started with the cheese curds and a few beers to start us off. They have various QR codes to scan for specials and burgers not on the menu.Happy Hour Mon-Fri 3-6 We decided to order each a different burger so we could share. Burgers come on a pretzel bun with fries. Gluten free available. We tried the Led Zeppelin which came with Apple wood smoked bacon,BBQ pulled pork and cheddar. Very good. Also had the Sourvein which had deep fried blackened chicken tenders, Apple wood smoked bacon, cheddar,Belgian waffle strips and a drizzle of maple syrup. Raspberry Aioli on the side. Sweet and interesting but it all blends surprisingly good. Since Metallica was in town, they offered the Chi-Tallica burger which came with Chicago Mild Sauce Chicken Tenders,Buffalo Dip, Jalapeno Bacon Jam,Ranch and Tortilla chips. Delicious ,messy but could have been spicier. Expect to pay over 20.00 a burger but we'll worth it. They also offer salads, sandwiches and Mac n cheese creations. Parking can be a challenge but well worth a visit!

Yelp
They continue to have one of the best burgers in Chicago. Full stop. From the pretzel bun to the well seasoned and properly cooked beef to all the topping options, you literally can't go wrong. If I had one pet peeve, it's the thrash metal blaring at lunch time. I'm no prude and enjoy a good headbang like anyone else but there's a time and a place. I wanna speak to my lunch mates and hear what their server is saying. Maybe I'm getting too old?

Yelp
Very cool spot! I was in town with a friend and he suggested this place for a good burger as he's been here before. This is a cool bar, had some wild 80's movie on in the background with lots of camp (and topless girls) playing over the central bar, with a "deep cuts"/secret menu that should be checked out. We were seated in a corner high-top by the windows, which was perfect for people watching and plenty of attention from our waiter. I chose a Neurosis burger off the "secret menu" while my friend chose to build his burger. Burger was well-made and I loved my starter of cheese curds, and the house-made ketchup with a hint of jardineira. My friend has lots of food allergies, and couldnt have the house-made ketchup with his burger, and they didnt have any plain Heinz so staff went to a neighboring establishment to get some ketchup that wouldn't give my friend an allergic reaction. Much appreciated! And for him it balanced out the fact his house-made chip order wasn't warm. (*shrug*) Great service, and equally enjoyable meal, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a satisfying bite in this corner of the city.

Yelp
I've been to the one on Belmont most recently I was at this one , burgers are still really good, they have a metal vibe, there definitely in there own niche, service honestly could have been a little better. But i would still come back.

Yelp
Heavy metal theme inside, with a neutral patio outside, that's a great spot when the weather is nice. I was thoroughly unimpressed by the service, as it took much too long to be seated or given a water and learn who my server was. Burger patties are big, but otherwise toppings and fries were underwhelming. It gets the job done for food when you're hungry, but doesn't appeal otherwise, which is probably why it was almost empty on a Saturday night.

Yelp
The food was okay it's a bit expensive for the quality. It's standard pub fare food/quality. My main point of contention is that we left our credit card and when we went back the next afternoon there was a women who literally screamed at us to leave even though we just asked for our credit card (said she wasn't open yet and we weren't allowed in the restaurant). Girlfriend was clearly having a bad day, we just wanted to pick up a credit card, but definitely wasn't cool being yelled at.

Yelp
Ordered burgers for delivery. Traveled well with takeout. The fries aren't my favorite but the quality and flavor of the burgers are amazing! Love that you can substitute a black bean patty into any burger. The burgers are big so there's always leftovers! One of my favorite burger restaurants in Chicago!

Yelp
I had been to the original Kuma's Corner on Belmont previously, but recently on a rainy Sunday afternoon we wound up at the Kuma's Corner in the West Loop on Fulton Market. We originally were headed to a nearby establishment but were stunned to find it closed that day. Our Plan B turned out to be a big thumbs up for our rain-soaked party of five. We were seated right away, and the service throughout our mealtime was on the mark for us with a pitcher of ice water, and an efficiency of ordering and serving of food and drink. My love and I selected brews from Forbidden Root and Three Floyds to go along with the heavy metal decor and tunes. The burgers are served on pretzel buns and include a side of fries. The three young men of our group each ordered the Famous Kuma, and why not? This burger has bacon, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and of course the fried egg. I do believe the young men all liked the Famous Kuma. My love and I split the Mastodon, which was topped with bacon, cheddar, fried onion and BBQ sauce. Based on our appetites that afternoon, the savory Mastodon and generous side of fries hit the spot perfectly for the two of us.

Yelp
Found this place on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives before my baseball trip to Chicago. This location was an easy trip via the EL from our hotel. Seated immediately, ordered as soon as we were ready and food arrived promptly. Decor and menu was themed to Heavy Metal. If members of your group are not fans they may find the music too loud. Still able to carry on conversations with my table but it did drown out other conversations. I went with the recommended Mastodon burger (Applewood Smoked Bacon, Cheddar, Frizzled Onion, BBQ Sauce) and French fries. It lived up to the hype and was a really good burger. Fries were cooked and seasoned well. Would definitely recommend for both locals and tourists.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. I finally found a parking spot and placed an order for pick up. I ordered the Monastad burger and macaroni and cheese with broccoli. The food was delicious. The burger is thick and you get plenty of fries.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been dying to try this place for quite some time and I'm glad I was able to finally make it! I kept hearing how good the food was. The ambiance and the vibe is a very "chill" one. The lighting is dimmed and it just feels like you're not necessarily in Chicago. This type of place isn't my usual, but it was really fun to try something different and I actually really enjoyed being there. This place is apparently very popular and I can see why. The food is SO good. If you're looking for a restaurant that serves a better quality "bar food," then this is your place. The potions are huge (two meals in one), the flavors are great and the options are endless. I had the Kaijo burger with fries and it was delicious. The blue cheese really pulled in the flavors of the patty as well as the bacon. I'd definitely get this burger again. 10/10 here. The table also split a mac n' cheese. We added pulled pork, green onions and peas in it and that was also very good. I would like to come back and try more items on the menu for sure. Definitely a good place for solo folks or if you're in a group. I honestly saw more groups than not, so that was nice.

Yelp
3.5! the interior & music are so fun and heavy-metal themed - if you don't like/aren't looking for loud music you might wanna skip, but i thought it gave the restaurant a lot of character. i got a hamburger off the lunch menu which is ~half the size of the regular burgers and it was SO filling and i ended up taking half home, so i can only imagine the full sized burgers are insanely filling. the burgers come with a side of fries which may have slightly overshadowed the main dish. you can ask for the burger done well, medium, or rare; i chose medium and it was a little overdone for my taste but still good (just a little dry). they have a ton of different burger options i just wasn't feeling too experimental today, but i'd definitely come back to try again

Yelp
We were not sure what to expect since we had passed by and walked all the way to the middle of downtown Chicago........and then the clouds were angry and it poured on us. Getting out of the rain was the goal being as unprepared as we were! Very cool vibe inside and excellent music! Menu items all named after rock bands. I ordered the "Deadly Sin" and if I had no where else to go, I could have these aaaallll day long and get wheeled home! The edimommy and fried Mac n cheese were BOMB! Celine was our bartender and she was awesome! Very accommodating and very informative! She knows her stuff and she was friendly! The food was good and for a pub and we liked!
google avatar

Tina L.

Yelp
This place is a very interesting dining experience. The decor is full of rock n roll references and Kuma's blasts heavy metal. Not usually my cup of tea, but I actually kind of enjoyed it because the vibe was so different from a typical restaurant. The food was awesome. We got an order of cheese curds that were on point. I ordered the goatsnake burger for my entrée. The burger was juicy and had a lot of interesting flavors going on! I got edamame as my side. I really liked how Kuma's had unique sides to choose from as I get bored getting fries every time. My friends seemed to enjoy their burgers as well. Also, this place sells delta 8 prerolls. I thought this was so interesting and fun for a restaurant. The delta 8 was pretty good quality too. Overall, I definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Best fried pickles in the city - hands down. Mac lacked flavor but simple enough that my son enjoyed it. Burgers were served with cold pretzels buns... that's a no no! And it is also why I gave 3 stars instead of 4.
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
Food was good except the pretzel bun was not good for eating the burger. Too dry & bulky. Service was fair. The guy who bussed our table was very attentive. The atmosphere was not good for families seated inside. The TV was showing slasher horror movies with nudity. I asked waitress & manager to change channel but said they couldn't. Hostess needs to inform families upon seating. This was a Saturday afternoon!
google avatar

Sara K.

Yelp
I know this is a burger/sandwich restaurant but don't sleep on the Buffalo Chicken Mac n Cheese! Our group ordered the Mac n cheese to share for the whole table, but it could definitely be someone's entire meal if they aren't feeling a burger. I love how the menu had so many unique burger toppings. I got the Darkthrone which is perfect for people who love goat cheese and a little spice! As several of the reviews mention, there's a bit of a grunge ambiance to the place with the heavy metal music and wall decor. There's also a decent amount of patio seating which was perfect for us on a summer day.
google avatar

Samuel A.

Yelp
Kuma's is great - if you are looking for a mouthwatering burger with unique toppings this is your spot! I've had Kuma's multiple times but this review is specifically for their catering service. This was our second time ordering catering for Kuma's. Both times we have ordered have been excellent, 5-star service and a tasty meal. It was so easy to order again. After filling out the contact form, Lisa reached out to me, knew I was a repeat orderer, and preemptively sent over a order draft of the same items we ordered previously. Did I mention the previous time we ordered was over a year before?! This was awesome service - hats off to Lisa for being a rockstar. The food was great and we received compliments all day. Literally everything we got was above average in terms of taste. Nothing was just bland or ok. We ordered 4 different kinds of sliders - bacon & cheese, mastodon, plague bringer, and Iron Maiden. Every one was so good but mastodon was my personal favorite with bbq sauce and fried onion. We also ordered pulled pork (came with pretzel slider buns), Mac & cheese, loaded mashed potatoes, salad, and chili. Again, everything out out of this world delicious. The chili is to die for and has a hint of what I'm thinking was beer in there, which really kicks up the flavor a notch. Thanks again Kuma's and Lisa for the great meal and great service - we will be ordering again!

Yelp
Great food, great drinks, great service, great movies, great music. I love this place and go here often. The burgers are the best, hands down. I recommend: any of the mac & cheese options, edamame, poppers, burgers, other sandwiches, fried pickles, Buffalo chicken tenders, dips, and cocktails!! The waitstaff is second to none. Love this place!

Yelp
Came here for a late lunch on a Friday. I found it pretty empty around 3/330, but I imagine that's such an off time it's not really indicative of what their volume would be when most people visit I chose here on the recommendation of a friend who used to live here that really knows their burgers. Their menu clearly leans more toward the crazy toppings and novelty burgers, but he said their more pure burger options still really stand up. To put that to the test I went for the Kuma burger. I overall thought it was solid. The portion was pretty generous compared to most fancy burger spots, and you really can't go wrong with a runny egg on a burger. The patty itself was over cooked a little and seemed like it could have benefited from a bit more seasoning. Making the natural comparison to a nearby standout burger spot, thick cut bacon really would've benefited this burger, but for the price point that's probably not a fair expectation. Overall, I think this is a good regular burger spot if you're local. I could make this a monthly visit and it would take me years to get bored. However I've found a lot of similar mid tier novelty burger places around the country, and chances are you have a local equivalent available. If you're only going for one burger on a trip to Chicago I would recommend trying elsewhere.

Yelp
Grunge aesthetics to the maxxx I really love the insane change in ambiance from outdoors to inside when we were seated. Food was standard; a good hearty burger to fill you up (had to share with a friend because I don't like holding to-go boxes when traveling lol)!
google avatar

Chris V.

Yelp
The iron maiden was cooked medium rare with the chipotle mayo on the side and a side house salad. We also got the jalapeno mustard on th the side. The burger with mustard was delicious. The service wasn't good. No one was at the bar when we sat down. Countertop was dirty. We had to asked twice to get it clean. While we were there, another person nearby complained about the slow service.
google avatar

Sean Y.

Yelp
This place is definitely interesting, they have a wide variety of burgers/ sandwiches all of which are great. As someone with more vanilla taste in aesthetics and music, I enjoy the heavy metal music and decor they have. The food is not the quality of Loyalist / au cheval but I find the appeal of Kuma's Corner to be that it's a very solid casual burger joint.
google avatar

Bea A.

Yelp
One of the best burger spots in the city! With a relaxed, rock and roll vibe, it's a great spot to enjoy a delicious juicy burger. I had a side of fries and the Kaijo - a 10oz. patty topped with Applewood bacon, fried onions, and blue cheese. I paired my meal with a sweet Kuma's craft orange soda. A bit on the pricier side for your typical burger, but the burger I had was outstanding and well worth its price. I definitely want to come back and try other menu options!
google avatar

Julianna D.

Yelp
We were in West Loop for a wedding and finally got to try Kuma's corner. The burgers were delicious and the music was well matched. It was a hot day in Chicago and the place was nicely open to Fulton market (but nobody sat outside). Burger choices were great - the jalapeño burger tasted fresh and tasty. It would be nice if they had more choices without cheese.

Yelp
GOT FOOD POISONING AND MISSED WORK Came on a Sunday night with my family and girlfriend for my birthday dinner . It was 6 of us . The service was great, but unfortunately , the food made all of us sick. We all got cheese burgers. We all got DIARRHEA and STOMACH ACHES and THROWING UP . It's been two days since we ate and my sister has had to call off work because her stomach hurts so bad still. My mother got it pretty bad too, she also had to call off work . We called the establishment and spoke to staff, and at first they were giving a lot of attitude . However once we made it clear we were not interested in a restaurant credit or anything , they suddenly changed their tone and attitude. All they could keep saying was that they follow proper food handling procedures and that it wasn't their fault. Just excuses after excuses and they could not take accountability for getting me and my family sick. Thank god I didn't have any kids with me that got sick, that would've been worse . Please don't come here, you will become sick. You will get so sick you better hope you have a couple vacation/sick days to spare at your job . You been warned don't come .
google avatar

Kinza D.

Yelp
Came here for a quick bite after going to the arcade across the street and the food was great. If you're looking for a unique and hearty burger this is your spot. We got the Black Sabbath and the slayer. The slayer was def our fav of the two - it's a bunless burger over fries with chilli and a bunch of toppings - sooo good! They also offer black bean and impossible burgers for our non meat eating friends which was a nice perk. The vibes are fun - loud music and a lot of character and the servers were friendly. Would go again!
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
Kuma's is featured prominently on many "Best Burger in Chicago" lists, but I found it forgettable, despite the lead weight it left in my stomach for several days afterward. It's a heavy metal bar, with loud music playing. It wasn't so loud that I couldn't hear my quiet wife across the table, but it was head-bangin' music for sure (their website describes their ethos as, "serve the community, eat burgers, bang your head"). Their beer selection is solid and offers something for everyone, and the fried pickles were excellent. The half-order salad was so big I thought they'd accidentally given us a full order. Unfortunately, the burger I picked (Neurosis) was not particularly great. The 10oz patty is substantial, but unseasoned, so it all just went down flat. Their Burger of the Month selections look unique and interesting, so I'd encourage you to try something a little more adventurous than I did.

Yelp
Always consistently good. Massive burger and sides. I'm not a big meat eater so I ordered the grilled chicken burger. Very juicy! My husband had the burger and he really enjoyed it. Must try: the jalapeño poppers with the fig jam. The jam and the hot popper=delicious. Service was fast. Casual joint.

Yelp
I am shocked that I hadn't written a review or maybe it got deleted into the abyss. I used to live nearby and this was a go to pick up spot, so it didn't make sense for us to dine in. I do come in to pick up and really appreciate the casual ambiance. The staff here has always been very nice, and with this most recent food pick up the girl handing my food seemed so appreciative of my patronage with her smile and brief interaction. Kuma's is consistently delicious and that can be hard to do with multiple locations. From time to time I might do a BOTM, (burger of the month) but my staples are the Kuma and the Iron Maiden. The meat is cooked perfectly to my liking and it's juicy and flavorful. The pretzel bun texture and consistency helps with bread not falling apart. Some people complain about price but the amount of meat and quality of ingredients makes it pretty fair, given what you pay at fast food chains is getting up there. It's what I would say is inflation that we just need to accept. Fries are also excellent reminds me of county fair fries. Even the ketchup here is so good. The chili here is also fantastic. I wish I had room to try other things but this is definitely one of my favorite burger spots for sure. I do and will continue to recommend it. As I have moved out of town I have gotten to come back and have missed it so much. If I could hug it I would but will eat it instead!
google avatar

Emma S.

Yelp
Don't really understand the hype - fries were good, burger was decent. Nothing over the top, plus I thought the prices were wayyy too expensive for the quality of the burger and toppings. Cheese curds not my favorite, but a they had a good batter. Best part of my meal was the cider! Beware: Restaurant was super loud, which makes having a conversation hard.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
My friend and I were blown away by their jalapeno poppers!! So crunchy on the outside, filled with a rich creamy cheese filling, and paired nicely with a unique raspberry aioli sauce The burgers were amazing too! I ordered the goatsnake burger and loved it. Definitely visiting again to try their other items

Yelp
Went here for dinner off a suggestion from a friend. To be honest I wasn't that impressed with the food or service. I was told this was one of the better burgers in Chicago but I really didn't see the charm in it. I was really excited to try but there was no real flavor at all and I was expecting something better. Waitress was also fairly aggressive and we tried to get her attention a few times to order items and got ignored. Then when we tried to order another drink she just threw the bill on the table and walked away. I would understand if they were trying to flip tables but it wasn't even crowded. There are plenty of places in the area so will definitely try those first

Yelp
Awesome burgers!!! Love the metal music. Always had fresh water and soda refills. Not one smile from the service - or a single head-butt.

Yelp
Ordered 2 burgers and Mac and cheese. Everything lacked seasoning, and was incredibly underwhelming for the price. Don't pick this place.

Yelp
Updating 12/5/2021. Dine in, mask required, food quality = all great 4 stars! Even during dine in, you order everything (including cocktails) through the toast app. Literally no one talks to you unless it's to bring your app ordered food. I'm cool with the scanable qr code menus. Very sustainable. If I wanted to order and pay through an app, I'd order take out. Dine in is really a treat nowadays. I just expected better from a service standpoint. The interactions are my favorite part of that experience. I'm sad.

Yelp
Food and service were great. Location has ample parking and seating at bar or Patio if weather permits.

Yelp
I have been to their original location on Belmont, the second location on Diversey (which closed a while back), and the one in Schaumburg so I was interested to see how this compared. I also ordered from this location for delivery which I hadn't had either from any of the locations. I have tried a fair amount of their burgers but definitely my favorite is the nerosis. Surprisingly, the burger was cooked medium rare as I ordered it (considering it was delivered I expected it to be overcooked) and the homemade potato chips remained somewhat crispy. The only thing that didn't hold up was their pretzel bun. Although it holds the meat and toppings well it seemed to be lukewarm and a little stale. I think this is more to do with getting it delivered then if you were to eat in. Pretty good overall but if you want the best experience (for food and music) I would recommend going there to eat.

Yelp
i'm still thinking about the burger i had at Kuma's Corner. I love how the menu had so many unique burger toppings. I got the Darkthrone which is perfect for people who love goat cheese and a little spice! i also really enjoyed the Jalapeño Poppers. i would definitely get that again. As several of the reviews mention, there's a bit of a grunge ambiance to the place with the heavy metal music and wall decor. But I enjoyed the ambiance. There's also a decent amount of patio seating which was perfect for us on a summer day.

Yelp
The rock theme of Kuma's Corner is super...metal. Anyway! I really appreciate the 10 oz burger sizes and although I personally wouldn't get any of the more extreme burgers, they seem super adventurous and unique. I got the regular burger (I forget the name but it was the simplest burger on the menu) and I was not disappointed. The fries that came with the burger was well seasoned and complimented the burger perfectly. I will be returning to try some more burgers and the macs as well!

Yelp
Kuma's has been on my Chicago Burger bucket list for quite some time and I was so excited to finally get my hands on one. After much deliberation, I ordered the spicy Iron Maiden. The burger comes with avocado slices, but I left those off as I didn't want the beef itself to be overrun by too many flavors and textures. Sans avocado, the Iron Maiden is topped with cherry peppers, jalapeños (which was a surprise as they weren't listed on the menu), pepperjack cheese, chipotle mayo and the traditional lettuce/tomato/onion trio. The beef patty was huge, even bigger than I was expecting -- but unfortunately it was a little lacking in the flavor department. Fortunately, everything else on the burger stepped in to assist. The smoky chipotle mayo was oozing out from under the pretzel bun. The cherry peppers and jalapeños of course added a kick of heat to each bite. The pretzel bun did a fairly good job of holding everything together, but it was still a very messy burger. Overall, it was a good burger, but I wouldn't go rushing back for it. The sweet potato fries had just the right amount of crisp. The sprinkling of salt helped bring out the sweetness of the potato. Even though the burger was massive, I had no problem finishing off the fries. The interior of course is a home run for any fan of heavy metal. The service was decent.

Yelp
Awesome spot! I went with some friends who had been before, so they hyped it up. We sat down and took it all in -- the vibe is that grunge music is playing the whole time and the decor fits that too. We were seated, and then there are no servers, but you order via their app and someone brings everything to you. The drinks came out super quick. I ordered the Mastodon Burger and it was delicious. It was HUGE though, especially with everything on it, so keep that in mind! Loved the variety in the burgers they offered. The fries were perfect and greasy - exactly what I look for in fries! Very cool spot!

Yelp
I'm a frequent customer at Kuma's, and used their catering service for the NASCAR event I was hosting. The catering manager, Lisa, was on her game with estimated amount of food, as well as mode of delivery (bike messenger). Considering the rain, as well as traffic concerns; the food and delivery service met expectation, if not exceeded them. The various slider options were appreciated by all guests, and naturally the food was a crowd pleaser. If planning a catered affair, contact Lisa. She'll make it happen.

Yelp
The Burger was AMAZING! 5 stars for that. The Mac and Cheese unfortunately was very tasteless and very watery. It could've been a lot more creamy. The service was also kind of slow. It took about 15-20 minutes to take our order.

Yelp
I only had a couple drinks, but the ambiance of this particular Kuma's is awesome. Everything is death metal bear themed with awesome art on the walls and bar counter. Also some really epic custom stained glass windows right above the bar. Solid beer collection (came here because of their menu on Untapped). Food coming out of the kitchen looked great but we had already eaten earlier in the day. Definitely stop in for a beer!

Yelp
This place was just okay. My favorite part was the salads which were very large. The ambiance wasn't that great and the heavy metal music was so loud that it was hard to carry on conversation with my friends.

Yelp
This place is definitely a grunge vibe, so be prepared but it was easily one of the best burgers + chicken sandwich we've ever had in the city!!

Yelp
The Mac and cheese is really good! If you are dining in, I would also order the fresh made chips.
