Yelp
I was pretty skeptical about this place, being a high end Japanese restaurant inside a hotel with modestly stereotypical Asian decor. I walked by this place many times, but never thought I'd actually dine here until recently.
It was a Sunday around 8:00p, and maybe my family and I were tired from being at the Convention Center all day, but kiddo wanted to try this place as we were walking by and hubs said fine. Uhhh it's $$$ on Yelp, and we weren't even dressed for it.
We obviously had no reservations, but the place is pretty big (more seating in the back, which is where we ended up) so we only had to wait maybe 10 minutes. I'm sure it's better to make reservations, especially if it's for a special occasion, but I wasn't going to cry if they had told us that they were full for the night.
I found out from our nice server that this is a Korean and Japanese restaurant, so more of an Asian fusion rather than an authentic Japanese one. I started with a drink, the Peach Bliss ($19), and we ordered the wagyu gyoza ($28), spicy rock shrimp ($35), and chicken karaage ($22) to share. We also ordered the rolls, toro negi ($23) and Shogun ($30), the anago nigiri ($16), and the kombu steamed Chilean sea bass ($55).
Wow, I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty everything was. Yesss, expensive, considering the amount served...five bite-sized gyoza for $28, two anago nigiri for $16, a piece of sea bass (only, nothing else) for $55...but flavors were pretty much on par. I got carried away and ordered another drink, too.
As mentioned above, our server was nice, attentive and very helpful, so we ended up having a nice dinner experience, especially for being on the fly (the hostess who lead us to our table was not as friendly though).
