The Best Korean Restaurants in New Malden

"Named after the ancient capital of the Silla Dynasty now known as Gyeongju, Sorabol at the end of the High Street is one of the oldest and more traditional Korean restaurants in New Malden. Its dark wood interior is perfectly suited to night-time carousing and offers the Korean beer OB Lager as well as the more ubiquitous Hite, and Korean wines and spirits including soju and baekse-ju. Its specialty is galbi, tender beef or pork ribs marinated overnight in soy, garlic and sesame and then cooked on the charcoal barbecue, but its seolleongtang, a milky ox bone broth, is also worth seeking out." - MiMi Aye

Amazing Korean food! I havent had such good Korean food in the UK for such a long time. We ordered quite a lot of food between us and thought we’d have to take away some leftovers but we cleaned out plates. The soft tofu stew was so so good, and i was so glad to order the beef tartare- the beef quality was great and loved the sweetness of the pear. Will come back soon!!

We tried the new BBQ menu today and every single dish was delicious. The food was beautifully presented, clean, and full of flavor. You can really taste the care and quality in every bite. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. On top of that, the staff were incredibly kind and attentive, which made us feel truly looked after. Definitely one of the best BBQ dining experiences we’ve had. Highly recommended — we’ll be back again for sure!

Delicious meal, and very friendly staff! Yoon in particular was friendly and helpful with the menu, which we don't often find in New Malden restaurants. Would definitely come back here! Recommend the seafood pancakes, tteokbokki, soy&garlic fried chicken and ramen.

I ordered food over the phone and went to pick it up since both my child and I were sick. The restaurant was crowded, so I paid and left quickly. When I got home, I realized the price I was charged didn’t match what was shown on the restaurant’s own website menu, and the miso soup that was supposed to be included with the hot stone bibimbap was completely missing. According to the website, the hot stone bibimbap is listed as a Happy Hour menu item from 12 PM to 3 PM, discounted from £13.9 to £11.9. I placed my order at around 2:20 PM, and it was a Friday — which is a weekday — so the Happy Hour price should have applied. But I was charged the full price without any explanation. Because my child and I were coughing and I had a headache, I couldn’t stand there checking details carefully at the counter. Only after I got home did I realize things didn’t match the menu. And honestly, it was really disappointing. If the price or menu composition is different for takeout or delivery, the staff should clearly inform customers when they order by phone. That’s basic service. On any other day, I would have dined in and confirmed everything myself, but today I simply couldn’t. The food tasted good, but the lack of transparency and the missing items left a very bad impression. I expected better.

New Malden is truly a haven for Korean food lovers!Wandering into this unassuming restaurant turned out to be a delightful surprise. Spicy Stir-fried Squid and Pork The squid was wonderfully springy, and the accompanying vegetables were full of flavor. But the real star was the pork — fully marinated and flavoured, packed with heat, and incredibly fragrant. A perfect balance of spicy and savory! Kimchi Pork Tofu Stew Classic dishes are always the best test of a kitchen’s skill, and this one passed with flying colors. The stew arrived bubbling hot, with a strong, appetizing aroma of fermented kimchi. Just one spoonful of the tangy, spicy broth was enough to awaken the appetite. The tofu was soft, silky, and generously portioned — a hearty and comforting dish that really satisfies. Side Dishes The complimentary kimchi was crisp and flavorful — exactly as it should be. The bean sprouts, though a bit mild in taste, would’ve been perfect with a touch of sesame oil for added depth. I’ll definitely be coming back!

This is a real hidden gem. Currently it’s at the back of an Asian supermarket but when your inside it’s a really nice authentic atmosphere. They are actually moving soon to new Malden high street. The people were very welcoming and really adds to the atmosphere. The service we couldn’t fault. For us the food took slightly long time to come but…… we were rushing to catch the bus and I have to say when the food did come you can see why it takes a bit longer it was fresh hot and very tasty. You can immediately taste that it had been made fresh so it’s well Worth that bit of extra time to wait. Every dish we had we all agreed was the best Korean food we have tried not just in London but across the UK. Price wise a couple of dishes did see quite expensive mainly the seafood ones but again for the quality and the passion they put in to the food you don’t mind paying that bit extra. I look forward to going back to the new location and trying more delicious food
