Where to find classic restaurants and bars in Las Vegas | Eater Vegas

"Kung Fu has been operating in Las Vegas since 1973, first at Third and Fremont Streets, and then in 1982 inside the current Plaza Hotel, a pioneer in introducing Thai cuisine to the city. Since 1993 the family-run business operated in Chinatown, boasting hundreds of dishes on the menu, from familiar Americanized versions of Chinese lunch specials to an extensive Thai roster running to dozens of choices, amplified with optional heat to match." - Janna Karel

Google
Kung Fu Thai & Chinese never disappoint us with their great food. My family & I have been coming here before we moved to Vegas 14 yrs ago. It has become a favorite for their Tom Yum Hot Seafood Soup. And of course their other dishes as well.

Darlene Dipasupil

Google
My family and I have been going to Kung Fu Thai for 16 years and counting! We love this small family owned restaurant! The food always comes out amazing and very filling. My absolute favorite is tofu pad Thai with no peanuts and their Thai tea!! Can never go wrong with their Thai tea! The staff are very friendly! One of the top management always says hi when we visit since we are regular customers. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you're craving thai and Chinese food. I hope this place always stays in business!

Amanda

Google
The Chinese food was delicious. It was fresh and flavorful. I opted for the Crab Rangoons as well as the Orange Chicken (the best I've had) 👌 The portions are pretty big as well!

Lisa Pugh

Google
The Thai food is outstanding! We have been here many times in the past with larger groups of people. Everyone says their food is excellent! We always have fantastic service. Pat served us & she was friendly & helpful with entree recommendations.

Google
Delicious Food and Fantastic Service by everybody. Highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻

Google
Food is phenomenal, portions are generous and are meant to be shared. Pictured are yellow curry with shrimp, sesame chicken and general tsao chicken along with chicken pad Thai. Food was out quick and waters were being refilled frequently! Great for families with kids 👍🏼 Parking can be tricky as the restaurant is located in a very busy plaza.

Google
We would definitely recommend this restaurant. Service was fast and friendly. We would highly suggest the Mongolian beef, Kung pow chicken, Shrimp and broccoli, and Sesame chicken, it was all nice white meat with a thin breading! We would not order these two items again the Egg Roll were not our favorite, they had a lot of cabbage. Fried shrimp appetizer was more breading than shrimp.

Hon Mac

Google
A good old-fashioned Chinese restaurant with a large menu and lunch specials. The food was good. I would recommend this place and I would come back. A+

Yelp
My recent dining experience at Kung Fu Thai and Chinese Restaurant was nothing short of phenomenal. To kick off our meal, we indulged in their potstickers and crab Rangoons, and let me tell you, they were nothing short of perfection. Both appetizers boasted a delightful crispiness that set the stage for what was to come. For our main course, we opted to share the combination fried rice, and it turned out to be the highlight of the evening. The portion was just right for the two of us, and each bite was bursting with flavor. What truly caught me by surprise was the addition of crab in the fried rice. It was a first for me, and I must say, it elevated the dish to a whole new level of deliciousness. I absolutely loved it! What's more, the pricing was incredibly reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we received. It's not often you find such a perfect balance of taste, portion size, and affordability. In conclusion, if you're in the mood for exceptional Thai and Chinese cuisine that won't break the bank, look no further than Kung Fu Thai and Chinese Restaurant. With their impeccable dishes and reasonable prices, they've certainly won me over as a returning customer.

Yelp
We had been wanting to try this resturant for awhile and got the opportunity to eat here for dinner. The menu is huge with so many selections. We had the war wontonsl soup, crab ragoons and kung pao chicken which were all delicious. Food came out fast and hot, and portion sizes were very good for reasonable price. Service was fast, attentive and friendly. We notice they have large round tables with center food turntable for very large parties which is unique. Overall, a very good dining experience!

Yelp
I've been coming here for over 10 years they Mongolian chicken and Mongolian beef dishes are the best in the city. they will customize however, you wanna add any vegetables or take stuff out they have a lot of other dishes and wonton soup is very good. Everything is usually made fresh in house and there's usually not a crazy weight.

Yelp
This is located on a strip of Asian cuisines. We waited no time to be sat and greeted. Much appreciated. The staff was super sweet and patient. It took us awhile to figure out what we wanted and the waiter even took out his phone to show us a visual since I was looking at Yelp, per usual! The ambiance is very quiet and low key. Its not a loud place so its very easy to talk and hear others. We noticed a few couples ordering large orders and after asking them why, they said cause the food was amazing, delish, and a good price. My husband and I weren't overly hungry but we decided to order two things. 1. Tofu Satay; similar to chicken, but with tofu skin. I loved the peanut sauce, however the tofu used is a silken tofu which creates a very unique texture in your mouth. I personally did not like it, but maybe other people do. The side of cucumbers was refreshing and delightful. 2. Chicken Pad Thai: oh boy was that plate filled to the brim. It had a great nutty taste and the chicken was good. Some pieces of chicken were slightly dry, but the overall flavor was there. Both dishes came out in MINUTES! of us ordering, and although may be alerting- don't be fooled. This food was PIPING hot. I would definitely come back to try more of their extensive and large menu.

Yelp
So far hands down best Thai and Chinese food restaurant I have been to in a while. Since I have moved to Las Vegas, I found this spot in the corner of Valley View and Spring Mountain, and I have always been back to eat here. Although I haven't checked in via Yelp in a while, I had brought a few family members and friends here for lunch / dinner. Small restaurant but service was excellent. Even better when I walk in, I always get seated quickly!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing Food and Service. We got beef pad see ew, chicken pankang, chicken pad Thai. Our new fave. Place to eat in Vegas

Yelp
Long overdue and very biased-- even after all these years, post-graduation and moving back to CA...whenever I'm in Vegas, I must visit Kung Fu The waiters still recognize me too, haha! Family-owned restaurant with an extensive menu of Chinese and Thai cuisine, it's about 6 pages...front and back! Plenty of items to choose from My favorites overall -- - Chopped Chicken Chili and Mint Fried Rice (not on menu but they're always so kind to make it if I request for it) ; very flavorful and refreshing with the basil, compliments so well with the Fried Rice too - Pad See Ew, Pad Thai -- standard but a favorite nonetheless Their Orange Chicken is pretty tasty also My visit with Sisi, she ordered a bunch of different items and so lucky I was able to try them all! - TomYum Soup ; a bit more sour/tamarind, it was fishy-ish so I think a good amount of fish sauce is used - Thai Fried Chicken Wings ; Sisi and her son really enjoyed this! Pipping hot, large wings, and the dipping sauce was super tasty - Thai Style Fun Cee / Pad Woo-Sen ; good but a bit on the saltier side, might have used a wee additional soy sauce - Chopped Beef Chili and Mint Certified Angus ; similar to my Chopped Chicken Chili but a bit tastier since there was a gravy to make it saucier (I still like my Chopped Chicken more though hehe) Good for groups since most of their seating is large booths (I'd say can comfortably seat a family of 4) Highly recommend if you're in the Chinatown ~ support your local businesses and see you next time whenever I'm in Las Vegas!

Yelp
Great name! Ideal location (but parking is difficult), and the ambiance reminded me of Chinesse restaurants in China town in San Francisco. The food was good. I did expect it to taste a little more like the Chinese restaurants I grew up with, but I did enjoy it. Definitely worth a visit & Ill be back
google avatar

Stela T.

Yelp
We ordered pad see ew and pad Thai to go. It was a bit disappointing. Both have bland taste and very dry. It used to be very delicious. I wouldn't want to go back. I got very sick after eating the pad Thai. I start having diarrhea and throw up. I threw up the pad Thai I ate. I had a horrible night, getting up every few minutes. Medicine helps for a few hours but starts all over again.
google avatar

Yelp
They had me at Jumbo fried shrimp and Pad Thai! I took my friend here for her birthday and we really enjoyed the food. They make a great iced Thai and we also enjoyed the delicious curry chicken. I am hooked and will be back to try their mandarin/Cantonese style Chinese food!
google avatar

Ralph J.

Yelp
One of the better Chinese in Vegas . Big menu selection Service good . Typical inside could be nicer 4-
google avatar

Hector B.

Yelp
It's decent. Service: Group run, so always people to check on you. Food: I ate the Pad thai. It was good but not spicy. I asked for 8 of ten spicy and no! That's OK for most people, not me. Atmosphere: boring...

Yelp
Stumbled into this restaurant located off of the main strip of Chinatown and was sat immediately. They have an extensive menu of both Chinese and Thai foods to chose from. My meal came out very quick and steaming hot. The veggies were spare and I wish it would be made spicer, but one of my favorites none the less.
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
This review is long overdue. We used to order takeout from here WEEKLY when I used to work on the strip. I would always order the Thai Beef Salad and it was so good every single time. The salty beef is the perfect complement to the slightly sour, acidic dressing. You can order however spicy you like and you can also modify your salad as well. I always order mine without cilantro, heehee! They also have the BEST egg/spring rolls that I have ever tasted (made in house)! Service is always great and they really pay attention to detail! The restaurant is decorated authentically, and the workers are always friendly! I will order from here again soon because I oh so miss this place! Happy eating!

Yelp
We order takeout all the time for family dinner. We love the food and the service we receive. I highly recommend Kung Fu Chinese.

Stephen N.

Yelp
Having been to both Thailand and Hong Kong the food is authentic and truly the best in the city. No small claim in one of the Foodie Capitals of the United States. Little off the strip but worth the trip food is truly outstanding and the soups a house of diversity and transcending. The staff is delighted to see you service is continuous improvement on the experience. The seating is comfortable and welcoming and the art is clearly Kung Fu, enjoy!
google avatar

April H.

Yelp
Went to this restaurant today and I had the Angus Beef Satay with Shrimp Pad Thai. Very delicious food. I will be back. Over 5 stars for me.
google avatar

Shirley F.

Yelp
My family and I have been customers for about 15+ years. What keeps us coming back for takeout and sit down dinners at this restaurant is the flavor of the food, it's always hot, and pretty reasonably priced for the portions they give you. We also like that they have a bar. Some of our favorite dishes are the Shrimp Panang Curry, Pad Kee Mao, Thai Fried Chicken Wings, and Tom Yum Shrimp and seafood.
google avatar

Bellatrix B.

Yelp
Really good. I like how the pad Thai was not so sweet like many places tend to be. Service was fairly decent and the place was mostly clean.

America B.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite Thai place, I would compare every other Thai place to this one and nothing could ever top it. I used to eat here very since I was little, I used to love coming here with my parents, used to come here for special occasions. Main words used to, now it's my least favorite place to go, over the years the flavor has gone down and down. Still would give it a chance even after not liking the food and the flavoring but after a while I just gave up on it. The taste isn't the same and it hasn't been for a while. Service is okay not the best but also not that bad.
google avatar

Gabriel G.

Yelp
great service, kitchen opened at four pm, we got the chicken sautéed and Oh boy it was fantastic with a crazy delicious peanut sauce, so buttery and flavorful also the chicken mint was well done woth a bit of pepper but not too much

Yelp
Kung Fu is a quaint Thai restaurant located minutes off the strip at the beginning of the east end of China town. Me and my family have been coming to Kung Fu for years but it had been some time since we had been. We fell in love with the Chicken wings and We come for exactly that, the Thai Fried Chicken Wings. Hands down the best fried chicken wings you can have in its category. For this lunch We ordered the Thai fried Chicken Pad Kee Mao-(Drunken Noodle) Phat Kaphrao-(Holy Basil Chicken) The spice levels range from 1-10. My wife ordered the 3 spice for the Pad Kee Mao and daughter ordered a 5 spice for the Phat Kaphrao. If you enjoy spicy I would recommend 6 and above as 5 wasn't too spicy. Each dish is served with family style portions good for 2-4 and was just as delicious as we remembered. The ambiance is a mellow vibe. Every time it is quiet and calming. The art on the wall reflects the beauty and architecture of the Thai culture. Our server who has been here for years greeted us and took our order promptly. Additionally the food was made tremendous expeditiously, hot and ready. This place has always hit the spot and after this visit we were reaffirmed why we love it. Every family will love "Kung Fu Thai-ing" haha

Yelp
Staff very friendly, welcome and servicing with a smile. That's my first impression on this establishment. Place itself is ok. Ambience - quite conducive to a fulfilling dining. Clean and average noise from diners. Came on Sunday lunch, starved and craving for Thai. They do have a lot in their menu list. Thai and Chinese, with an extensive selection of a wine list and other cocktails to my surprise. At any rate, we ordered the pork larb, packed with flavor. This is hubby's favorite. The ground pork cooked perfectly and not in big clumps. I had the pork hocks which was chopped in bite sizes and absolutely tasty. Served on a bed of cabbage. It also came with a spicy sauce with a twist of tamarind taste. I think it's tamarind, I'm unsure. New taste for me. Our friend ordered the papaya salad, now that was a little mediocre, taste was off for us. Papaya seemed too soaked in sauce and didn't have the crunchiness. Just A-ok. Pad Thai our fourth entree was spot-on in regards to bellyliciousness!!!! Must try this place if you're exploring Chinatown restaurants.
google avatar

Ja'Nette Ann S.

Yelp
No matter what you order it'll be amazing! Service is also remarkable! When I order it's always large and they take their time to make sure everything is in the order in front of you and they even help get you out the door!
google avatar

Yelp
Business as usual here in from what I'm told is the oldest Chinese restaurant in this city. Service was fast and food was excellent. Worse part of the deal is the parking. The lot is brutal. Do not bring a car you love their as it's high risk for a dent.

Duane S.

Yelp
We were in Vegas for four days and on the third night wanted to get some chinese food. Looked up restaurants in chinatown area off the strip and found this spot. When we walked in you inhaled the aroma of greatness, we were seated and ordered from staff who was very nice and informative. Let me tell you living in NYC most of my life this is hands down the best chinese food! The wings were crisp and flavorful, the shrimp and brocolli and mongolian beef were excellent as well. This spot will be our must visit when we return to vegas and they have been around since 1973.....
google avatar

German A B.

Yelp
Food and service were on point everything we ordered had great flavor and the portions for the price I felt were right for the price. The restaurant however is looking a little rundown.
google avatar

Amber Z.

Yelp
Extensive menu with various choices of traditional dishes and noodles and soups. The beer and wine selections are extensive as well. Parking is at the side of the building facing Spring Mountain, with easy bus access right in front. Walking in, I felt underdressed as the place was beautifully decorated, but I soon noticed I fit right in. It took a while to be waited on; I finally had to ask someone to take my order. From there, the service and attention to detail were impeccable. The serving sizes were perfect, and everything was hot and fresh. If you haven't been, stop by and see what the buzz is all about.
google avatar

Jille A.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years for dinner and have always loved it. Today we came for the lunch special. I was happy to find thenorange chicken on the special as it has always been the best in town at Kung Fu. This is no longer the case. The chicken was hard and dry, over cooked. The fried rice had zero flavor and when asked what the soup of the day was as per the lunch special menu I was told there wasn't one, my only choice was egg flower. The server initially made us wait a long time before he even took the order and when I asked him questions he was rude. When later I told him about the chicken he made excuses because its fried then claimed he was not a cook and didn't know anything about the food. Also the ladies room has no hot water for hand washing
google avatar

Le L.

Yelp
Stopped in here and after one visit I know I'm going back. Chill vibe, red booths, lots of space, and a huge menu so that whatever you have a taste for you can probably get. Prices weren't too crazy either.
google avatar

Heather E.

Yelp
Kung Fu has been around FOREVER. I used to order take out from here ALL THE TIME in my college days. Never been inside until today. It's a cute, quiet, popular little place. I didn't stay, was just driving by and HAD TO stop for takeout CHILI MINT BEEF! I LOVE the chili mint beef! It's ground angus beef, chili seasoning, mint, and white rice on the side. There are hundreds of options on the menu but this is my all time favorite! My kingdom for CHILI MINT BEEF! They ask you how spicy you want it from 1-10. I always do 5. I'm pretty good with spice but it actually made my eyes water today, haha. Next time I'll go with 3/4. It's only about $12 and fed me for 2 dinners. I can't wait to go back! And if you order takeout, they pack you a goodie bag of napkins, utensils, extra plates, and fortune cookies.

Lors L.

Yelp
Long-standing family owned business service old school meals at a very affordable price. We referred here by our lovely Uber driver - hit the spot and excellent value!
google avatar

Debra C.

Yelp
You cannot go wrong with any dish here. From the wonderful customer service to the yummy appetizers and entrees King Fu needs to be on your restaurant rotation. Ordered the combo fried rice minus the crab meat and the GT Shrimp. Perfect and so good! And the double everything appetizer. Did not leave hungry and worth the short drive.
google avatar

Jolanta M.

Yelp
We were at work staving, my co-worker wanted to ordered delivery from here. The food was delivered FAST, FRESH & HOT! I had the jumbo shrimp fried rice. Just how I like my fried rice, no carrots & peas, just onions, egg & shrimp. Great experience order & delivery.
google avatar

Wei Chieh C.

Yelp
I was quite impressed with this restaurant, it was my first time here and I have to admit, all the times I've eaten in China town I've never seen this restaurant before because it's kind of hiding in a corner (hidden gem I would say). Their Mongolian beef is a little more to the sweet side but they sure marinated the meat well, the flavor was great. Seafood Tom yum soup was also pretty good, the only thing I wasn't too happy about was that the fire did not stay on for long, it was less than 5 minutes before it went out and I prefer my soup hot. I like their combination fried rice too, it comes with huge pieces of bbq pork, chicken, shrimps, and imitation crabs. I really like how they actually flavor the imitation crabs so it doesn't taste so plain. I would definitely recommend this Chinese/Thai restaurant to my friends

April B.

Yelp
Parking is tough there. Authentic. Food lukewarm. The spicy green beans Thai style not super crunchy but good flavor. Vegetarian fried spring rolls 2 for 6.50 good Plenty of rice..think the restaurant may do Chinese dishes better? Ok. Service was good . Overall an average meal Each dish was about $14 for the Vegetarian styles with tofu...
google avatar

Daniel T.

Yelp
We picked up some pretty solid fare from Kung Fu Restaurant on a road trip up to Zion. The egg rolls were crispy and piping hot. The BBQ (char siu) pork came with rice (don't order extra rice like we did, unless you really need a lotta rice, ;). The Laad Na with tofu was really great. The gravy was delicious with a mix of good veggies and the tofu cooked to perfection. Grabbed a Lee's iced coffee down in the same plaza and we were off on the road again. Great pit stop.
google avatar

Phillip P.

Yelp
Where to begin with this abysmal experience? The service was below standard, probably due to understaffing. The restaurant was outdated & musky with an outdated decor and crowded menu that is jarring to the eyes and taxing to the pocket. The bbq pork was cold and flavorless served on overcooked cabbage. The curry chicken soup was fishy and off-putting. The General TSO should be demoted to private TSO; over-fried bits of chicken floating in a bland sauce. THE ONE SILVER LINING WAS THE CHICKEN WINGS ON THE APPETIZER MENU; juicy, crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. And the Saki was overheated by "chef Mike." This is place "kung fooey" and should be avoided at all costs!
google avatar

Fatima D.

Yelp
This is by far my most favorite Chinese & Thai Restaurant. I love their Tom Ká Chicken Soup, The Mongolian Beef, The Pad Thai, EVERYTHING!!!! Service is quick and their personnel is kind and efficient. Their Restaurant has been slowly renovated and improved. I definitely recommend everyone to try them out, they won't disappointed.
google avatar

Brandon W.

Yelp
Me and some friends were a little hungry after Ice skating at the Cosmo. So we decided to try this restaurant out. The server then has us seated but rushes us to order. We ask for her to give us a Lil while to decide on what to order. She stood next to our table and waited. Awkward. I then ordered some Sake for the table, the server asked if I wanted it hot or cold. I asked for hot. She brought cold sake to the table. The food is great. Service not so much. So I give a 3 stars. The food is "kind of worth" a try, regardless.
google avatar

Isela C.

Yelp
Food is amazing here definitely a place I will keep going back to. Took some friends and had a nice birthday lunch and the staff was amazing!!
google avatar

Jess O.

Yelp
The food is so good. It's a must stop when in Las Vegas! We love that it is Thai and Chinese food.
google avatar

Steve T.

Yelp
This place was recommended by 2 people, so we had to try it. The Thai flavors were there but muted compared to other Thai restaurants we have been to in the area. The Pad See Ew was too oily for our taste. Beef Pad Kee Maw didn't have a good char from the wok as expected. Their Tom Yum soup was amazing that came in the flaming soup pot. I was disappointed with this place.
google avatar

Carlos O.

Yelp
Worst experience and awful customer service. Brought my family here for lunch around 2:25pm just perfect timing for their lunch specials which they end at 3pm..Or so I thought. It took at least 20-25 minutes to take our order and once asked for their lunch specials, the server rudely responded, "I'm sorry lunch special end at 2:45pm". Which on the menu it clearly said at 3pm (SMH). The server became aggressive when confronted about our waiting time, so my family and I just left this place. NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN.
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
This is a MUST GO THAI RESTUARANT in Vegas!!! They have good customer services. Good is great. PA-NANG CHICKEN IS GOOD. PAD SEE EW - Yummy Pad Thai - awesome Payara Salad - fresh and delicious Hot Pot - warm and tasty Thai Tea - satisfying. The environment is very comfortable and relaxing. When it gets pack, the wait can be a little bit long but worth it. I would also recommend order delivery to hotel too. Their delivery service is good. Might be around 30-45 mins but that save time standing in line :) Enjoy!!
google avatar

Erica O.

Yelp
Been door dashing at this for a while and the one day I decided to come try you guys were closed. Maybe have to try another time we are in the area. I can't wait.

Jose R.

Yelp
First time there. Food was good, an extensive menu that includes the usual Chinese and Thai food items. My only complaint was the shrimp curry. The menu clearly states that it is made with coconut milk but there was absolutely no taste of it being included (it was a bit watery in fact).
google avatar

Stephanie F.

Yelp
I tried both Thai and Chinese entrées from their menu and enjoyed both immensely!! Got them hot and spicy--the General Tso and PadKeeMao were so flavorful and I will definitely be back!
google avatar

knoote k.

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner after the football game and ordered several dishes. My go to and the one thing I use to gauge the level of food is hot and sour soup. Must admit one of the best hot & sour in Vegas. Calamari was tender and not rubbery. Pad Thai was so so, had tastier. Tofu curry was delicious. Pork with garlic pepper was good but definitely missing the garlic. Busy night ordered extra rice but never came around. Open till 2 so definitely will keep on my spots when on a late night hunt

Yelp
RUDE,RUDE, RUDE... I read the yelps before I came here and all of them said how rude the staff was, but I thought "oh well, I'm not going out to eat there to make friends." Dear Owner, your people working for you are driving away your customers! It's okay to not be overly friendly but you're staff is taking Rude to a whole new level. As for the food, it was good however the portions were so small for the lunch special, about a table spoon of meat with a huge mound of rice and a terrible wing and okay egg roll.
