"Tucked away in a small village in southern Costa Rica, Kurà Design Villas is an eight-suite eco-friendly resort where the hummingbirds outnumber the people and a large row of solar panels in the pool area heat shower water and light lamps throughout the resort. In true design hotel style, everything is tastefully done. The eight suites feature minimalist open-floor plans with glass walls, stone showers, and sleek wood platform beds, plus spacious private terraces with oversize hammocks overlooking the land and sea. Though the resort doesn’t cater to the budget crowd, your money goes a long way. A daily shuttle takes guests to and from the beach and off-site tours arranged through the hotel’s concierge; breakfast is complimentary; and when the weather is less than ideal, the resort organizes rainy-day activities that include cooking demonstrations and excursions to the local food market. When the sun re-emerges, don’t miss sightings of colorful birds as well as the occasional whale’s tail from the infinity pool. By Megan Eileen McDonough"

One of the best hotels of many I’ve ever stayed at. We splurged for the suite with a private pool and it was completely worth it. So much attention to detail from every aspect of the property, the rooms, and the service. We felt like we had a private staff for our luxury romantic getaway. Some of the many highlights include the turndown service (I won’t spoil the surprise, but just get it and be amazed), the myriad animals from tucans to monkeys who came to visit us in the trees in front of our gigantic private patio, the excellent tours (Luis who gave us the waterfall and sloth tours is amazing), and we would definitely recommend doing the guided night walk around property they offer. We wish we had done it the first night so we could have realized all the amazing animals and insects that were all around us. The town of Uvita was also fun to explore and had some excellent restaurants and cocktails. The cocktails and whole red snapper at Don Roger Mirador Restaurant were amazing and it had spectacular views. ||Areas of improvement for Kura would be the spa was not at the same level as the rest of the experience (understandably challenging given only 8 rooms to maintain a full spa at the same level), and the restaurant had creative and amazing flavors, but the quality of cooking (rib eye overcooked, for example) could use a bit of improvement. But I’m really nitpicking king around the edges here with those comments, because overall, it was such a spectacular and unforgettable experience.||The entire staff was just amazing. So friendly and responsive. I would WhatsApp anything to them, and they would immediately respond. They made us feel like we were celebrities or royalty being treated to such a first class experience. ||Last thing, we had a rental car with 4x4, but I would recommend you park in their lot in Uvita and use their vehicle. It’s a challenging road and it rains in the afternoon. The car service was always timely and we felt much safer with them driving the complicated road. ||Thank you so much for this incredible experience and stay at your hotel!

I don't even want to tell anyone about this place, because I want to keep it all to myself. Then again, I must share my incredible experience. I have very high standards for hotels and hospitality in general and I can't say enough good things about this heavenly place. The attention to detail was unmatched. When we had an early morning excursion, they had towels, water bottles breakfast and coffee packed for us. When we arrived back at the hotel, the staff was waiting with a refreshing beverage and cold towel. When we left our room for a little, we got back to a spotless and clean room. The food was some of the best hotel food I've ever had; amazing flavor pairings, incredibly fresh ingredients, unique menu options that felt authentic with an American twist. Every time we asked for anything, whether it be a last minute request or a driver, they accommodated. ||Most importantly, I didn't feel like I was being ripped off in the slightest. The food, drinks and spa treatments were incredibly reasonably priced. The massage that I got was heavenly. I just stayed at the Nayara Tents shortly after, and noticed that they try to "get you" in various ways, like charging $10 for a water at dinner when I never asked for a water bottle and would have been fine with tap. Kura really took care of their customers, and it didn't feel as transactional as most hotels feel. When I got the bill instead of cringing, I was happy to pay up.

This 5 day trip was beyond words….once you get up the STEEP hill you are transported to heaven just below the clouds. We were a party of 4 and stayed in the deluxe suites. This suite was so private with incredible views of the Whale Tail. I did like transportation down the hill which we did take advantage of. I also the most relaxing facial with amazing views. Do not worry about rain…it will rain everyday but NOT all day.

My husband and I spent 2 lovely nights here and enjoyed it very much. The rooms were very elegantly furnished and the service was excellent. Breakfasts were delicious as were the two dinners we had here. Beautiful views from our room and the restaurant ,and very pretty landscaping, too. The hotel is located at the top of a mountain and we did not feel cofortable driving up and down the steep, curvy diry road to the hotel, but luckily, shuttle service was provided to and from the hotel parking lot at the bottom of the hill. We enjoyed our stay at Kura very much.

We absolutely loved our stay at Kura. This place is heaven on Earth—private, situated in a gorgeous and remote location and offering all the amenities you’d expect from a luxury resort and more. From the moment we arrived, the staff was so attentive, helpful, and kind. They anticipated our needs and met them beautifully. The surroundings are just stunning; we loved seeing a toucan singing in the tree outside our suite. The food at the restaurant was top-notch. I loved the fresh fruit and freshly squeezed juices with breakfast. I can’t wait to come back!

Kura Boutique Hotel is hands down one of the most special places we’ve ever stayed. While it’s a little bit of an adventure to get to - puddle jumper from San Jose to Quepos and then an hour ride in a Kura 4x4 (which you absolutely need for the last 15 minutes of the journey) - it all makes sense when you see how unique it is upon arrival. It is completely immersed in nature but surrounded by comfort and thoughtful design and with only 8 rooms the attention to detail and service are unmatched by any place in our 25+ years of extensive travel.||We stayed in the Master Suite and it’s absolutely stunning. The architecture is modern and open, with views that stretch out over the jungle and ocean. The shower is huge—technically for two, but honestly big enough for six—and has different light themes that change the vibe depending on your mood. It is very private, which comes in handy since you will want to shower with the sliding doors to the outside wide open and not feel like you are putting on a show 😏.||The grounds are beautifully kept but still feel wild and alive. The view of the Whale Tail is unreal—it looks like something out of a movie. The rains come and go and sun (even with cloud cover) will bite you if not careful (we are both lobsters after first day of thinking the UV rays were too low to do damage). There’s wildlife everywhere in the best way. We saw basilisks running around, toucans calling out in the mornings, coati mundi looking for food in the trees, and bright green dart frogs hopping along walkways and even on our patio. It felt like we were in a nature show - almost scripted at times.||The food blew us away. Every meal was honestly 11 out of 10. We especially loved the mahi mahi, the ribeye, the ribs, and the sweet potato with cashews. For breakfast, the croissant sandwich and the typical Costa Rican dish were our favorites. All of the fruits and juices were so fresh and the cocktails were mixology level.||Service was top notch from start to finish. Concierge’s Mauren and Emanuel at the front desk were so helpful and made everything smooth and easy. The bartenders and servers—Chino, Alonso, and Noel—were some of the best we’ve ever met. Super knowledgeable, kind, professional, and they just really get what hospitality is all about. We did a couples massage, which we timed perfectly with 2 hours of heavy rainfall, and our therapists Lady and Rocio were wonderful. ||Kura isn’t just a beautiful place to stay—it’s an experience that sticks with you. We’re already trying to figure out when we can come back.

Hotel is beautiful, amazing views from the room and from the infinite pool. Service was great, everyone so nice and helpful. Definetely recommend getting a taxi to go there at least the first time, it is at the very top of the mountain, very difficult access that might get you a bit nervous to drive for the first tim if its raining or during night time.
