Another Conveyor Belt Sushi Spot Opens in New York - Eater NY

"It’s a new player in the rise of conveyor-belt sushi, with Kura Sushi, a behemoth brand having opened in Jersey City, Fort Lee, and this week, on Long Island (and, soon, Flushing) — with over 40 U.S. locations and 14 in progress. Kura Sushi first opened in 1977 and has 500 locations across Japan, Taiwan, and the States." - Melissa McCart

Fun experience to try once but not something I would come back to. We made a reservation on the app but still had to wait (which wasn't a huge deal). The setup is pretty simple. You take plates off the conveyor belt for $4 a piece (a bit pricey for some of the portions) or you can use the tablet to order specialty items or specific sushis that aren't on the conveyor belt (some came out right away while others took a while). My main complaint was the lack of "stock" on the conveyor (ie the main draw of the entire restaurant). We went after 8pm so it wasn't packed but still at least 3/4 of the domes were empty by the time they got to us so we had to end up ordering off the tablet which takes all the fun out of it. The food itself was okay, but nothing to write home about. I was expecting better quality / presentation for the price but really any other sushi place in LI will have better sushi. Some of the fish was bland/tasteless and some pieces were a mess, with parts falling off and the rice falling apart. Ironically one of the best things we got was the brown butter cake. The service was friendly and they refilled our waters twice which was great. The robots delivering drinks was an added bonus. Overall it was a fun novelty to try but the price is a little too high to compete with actual sushi places. The empty plates were annoying but we ended up still having a good time.

Let’s just be honest. No one is going to Kura expecting Omakase type sushi. What you can expect is good food, fun environment and pleasant service. The best part is you can nibble on as many varieties as you wish since each plate only contains two pieces 🍣 First time at this location and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. This is a great spot for family and children.

🍣 Kura Revolving Sushi Bar in Carle Place is an absolute gem and a must-visit for any sushi lover! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a vibrant and energetic atmosphere that immediately sets the tone for a fun dining experience. The concept of the revolving sushi bar is just brilliant; it’s not only incredibly efficient but also adds an exciting element of surprise as new dishes continuously glide by. You never know what delicious treat is coming next, which makes every visit feel like a treasure hunt! Let's talk about the sushi itself – it was seriously good! 🤤 Each plate I picked up was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. They offer a fantastic variety, from classic nigiri and maki rolls to more unique creations, all at very reasonable prices. I particularly enjoyed their salmon nigiri and spicy tuna rolls; the fish was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the rice was perfectly seasoned. It's clear they use high-quality ingredients, and the chefs really know their craft. You can also order specific items from a tablet at your table, which is super convenient if you have a particular craving or want something made fresh just for you. Beyond the fantastic food, the staff at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar are truly a highlight. They were all so cute, friendly, and attentive 🥰, always ready with a smile and quick to clear empty plates or answer any questions. Their positive energy is infectious and genuinely enhances the dining experience. It's clear they enjoy working there, and that enthusiasm translates into excellent customer service. Even when the restaurant was bustling, they managed to keep things running smoothly and everyone feeling welcome. But wait, there's more! The absolute best part about Kura is their prize system. If you finish enough plates (they have a counter on your tablet), you get a prize! 🎁 It's such a brilliant and motivating concept, especially for families or competitive eaters like myself. It adds an extra layer of excitement and makes dining there feel like a game. I managed to snag a cute little keychain during my visit, and it was such a fun reward for indulging in all that delicious sushi. It’s a clever way to encourage diners to try a variety of dishes and adds an element of surprise and delight to the meal. My friends and I had a blast trying to reach the prize threshold together, cheering each other on as more plates piled up! The restaurant itself is clean, well-maintained, and has a modern, inviting aesthetic. Whether you're going for a casual lunch, a fun dinner with friends, or a unique family outing, Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is the perfect spot. The convenience of being able to grab what you like as it passes by, combined with the option to order directly, makes for a super efficient and enjoyable meal. I honestly can't recommend this place enough. It's not just about the food; it's about the entire fun, interactive, and delicious experience. You definitely need to check it out! ✨ I’m already planning my next visit to try and win another prize! 🏆

Google
first time trying revolving sushi, it was such a fun experience. You can order the sushi directly to your table or take from the conveyor belt. After 15 plates you get a cute sushi lego set. Ate a lot of food and had a blast, will be back!

We have been coming here for almost more than a year now. We have lived in Asian for a long time spoiled with authentic Japanese food, so we can’t really compare it to here. But we can definitely compare what’s around Long Island in particular near this area, Kura is definitely our go to place with our toddler. The service is always friendly and the place is clean. Victoria is the best, she always take good care of us and our son even got a surprise toy too. They have hand made training kids chopsticks, that was very cool. And we always ask to take off the scallion from the beef don, they always help without hesitation. The quality of the sushi are decent and it’s closer to jap revolving style than American rolls that you won’t find in Japan but I think they at least try to do half half to meet most needs. Hope to see more new items on the menu. Thanks again for always being so friendly to us. Note: we always use their Kura app to reserve spots in advance, esp for Fri and weekends night, it gets crowded- so book in advance. Also, you can earn points back and get coupons to deduct. So I have been able to use $5 or 2 x $5 coupons per time on my meals over $15.

I absolutely loved my experience here at Kura. Revolving sushi bar is incredible and very interesting. Sushi for the price is good value. Food tasted so good, am already planning my second trip.

Google
Kura Revolving Sushi is an absolute gem! The food quality is outstanding—everything tasted incredibly fresh and authentically Japanese. You can really tell they prioritize ingredients and preparation. The conveyor belt system is not just fun, it offers a great variety of options that keeps things exciting throughout the meal. From traditional nigiri to unique rolls and hot dishes, there’s something for everyone. Can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend for sushi lovers.

Kura Revolving Sushi is a must-visit if you love fresh, fun, and flavorful sushi with a twist! The revolving belt concept makes dining feel interactive and exciting, and every plate we tried—from the seared salmon to the crispy rice with spicy tuna—was spot-on delicious. The touchscreen system is easy to use, and the bonus gachapon toy after every 15 plates adds such a fun touch! But what really made our experience stand out was our server, Jeffery. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable—he walked us through the process, made great recommendations, and checked in often without being intrusive. His positive energy and professionalism took the whole visit to another level. If you get a chance to sit in Jeffery’s section, you’re in great hands. Can’t wait to come back!

Yelp
We went around dinner time and got sat quickly. The service was great, they were very attentive. Food was fresh and I never had to wait for a long period of time. Would come back again!

Yelp
Love this place! They could do a better job of filling the conveyor belt with more food so that by the time it gets to you there are options. Overall fun experience and a pretty good deal.

Yelp
The lines here to get in during prime meal times are definitely a turn off but I was finally able to come by for a meal. This was a rare weekday late lunch and we checked in at the kiosk (iPad) just outside the front door. You have to enter your name and cell number to get on the wait list. It gives you live updates on wait times and how many groups in front of you, so helpful. Again, I was here late so my wait was less than five minutes. The restaurant to our surprise was Dragon Ball themed. Could not have asked for a better surprise as I was here for my son's graduation lunch. My kids have always wanted to try a conveyer belt type restaurant and this was a nice first for them. The sushi we had was fresh and the menu has a good variety of fish and beef sushi options. The other way to order if you don't see what you want on the conveyor belt, you can access a menu on the screen just above the belts and select from the sushi, hot menu, seasonal, desserts, and special rolls. You can even buy the prize items so you don't have to force yourself to eat 15 plates of sushi to get a freebie. Ha ha My kids were on a mission and for our party of four, we plowed through 30 plates to get the two prizes. Suggested sushi: scallops, bluefin toro, salmon (any, all varieties were good), umami steak with garlic chips, inari and the sweet shrimp. We did not try the hot food this visit since it was a very hot day. We just enjoyed iced cold drinks and the air conditioning. Must try the desserts though: the Japanese soy donuts with syrup and ice cream was fantastic - not too sweet and the donuts were a fun new item to try. And the cheesecake was delicious! This location was much better than the Flushing outpost of the same name. Sadly this visit, they were completely out of stock on the Goku water bottles. We totally would've bought one.

Yelp
Was the sushi out of the world? No. Was the experience fun? Yes. Will it satisfy your sushi craving? Yes. Will it break the bank? Sort of. The above pretty much sums the Kura experience. There were a variety of sushi to choose from such as tuna, salmon, eel and those more Americanized rolls such as California and Philadelphia. Surprisedly there were Hokkaido scallops, sweet shrimp and crab legs. Each plate was $3.80 which seems affordable but it adds up! There were other hot foods you can order from such as udon, ramen and fried chicken. Those were at a higher price point. The experience was fun with rotating sushi and you grab your own plates. The robot brings your water and your hot food comes through the speedy belt. However you have to call your waiter for utensils and throwing away garbage. We had 7 people in our party and had to split up because the biggest table only accommodate 4 people. Every 15 plates gets you a small prize. Overall, it was a fun experience competing with each other on how many plates we can eat.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the experience I had at Kura sushi. I would recommend checking in early as there is generally a bit of a wait. Once you are seated you can either choose to get menu items directly sent to your table, or just grab them off of the conveyor belt! I like that the portion sizes are small so you could try a little bit of everything. If you are a sushi newbie this could be a good opportunity to try a little of everything. My personal favorite would be the hand rolls which came out delicious with crispy seaweed every time.

Yelp
I've been to Kura's other locations before so I was excited that they opened one up in Carle Place! Since it's in a plaza, there's plenty of parking. You put your name down before being seated and you'll have to wait outside until they can seat your party. It's also just such a fun experience and there's a huge variety of things that you can get! The sushi quality is also not bad considering it's a chain revolving sushi restaurant. There's a revolving bar with different plates of sushi but you can also order any of their items (even ones that are already on the revolving bar) straight to your table. Portions are usually around 2 pieces of sushi per plate and 4 pieces if you get a roll so it's definitely great for people who love to try a little of everything (like me). For the sushi, I loveee all the seared items which are usually topped with Japanese mayo or miso cream cheese and it's sooo decadent. There's also hot foods like udon and ramen that you can order which are also portioned into a smaller size. They were also surprisingly really good and those are made fresh to order so you won't see it on the revolving bar. For dessert, make sure to end with the red bean taiyaki. It's fried and comes out hot and crispy with a delicious red bean filling and has a side of vanilla ice cream which is the best pairing. And at the end, you get to put the plates back into a section that counts your plates and gives you a small prize. Overall, I think it's a really fun experience and I love coming back.

Yelp
Kura sushi has been one of y favorite places for sushi. My favorite here is the salmon toro and seared scallop. I was in the neighborhood and saw kura sushi on the map so we stopped by. It was a weekday afternoon and it was not busy. We were seated right away. This place is clean and not overly crowded like the other locations. Also this location has Mr. Robot that served our drinks. There were a steady amount of food on the belt and there were only a short wait for food when ordering on the screen. After 15 plates and watching a short animation you get a toy. This time js dragon ball collab and the capsules are designed as dragon balls which was really nice.

Monica M.

Yelp
It's really fun, and fast, but two things could be better. When you put your name on the waiting list, you have to wait outside until it's time to check in. That's fine, except there's no place to check in. It's awkward. You have to wait for the host to come out and let you check in. There's no line, so others walk up, go inside, and check in ahead of you. That's frustrating. Second, the nigiri is just slapped together and not formed properly. You pick it up, it falls apart. It wasn't like that when they first opened. But, the price per piece is well below other places, so that should be considered too.

Radha P.

Yelp
My son loved the robot and sushi belt which is what we went there for. But the wait time is just too long so I can't say we will go back. It's basic sushi and by the time the belt got to us it was empty most of the time
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
I was really disappointed with our experience at Kura. The sushi was okay, but the service was terrible. A robot delivers your drinks and food gets delivered on a conveyer belt which was really cool but then the dirty dishes and garbage sit on the table because the servers dont come back to check on you. We waited over 20 minutes for a server to come over after clicking the help button for drink refills. It's not the cleanliest and the price per plate was high considering the amount of food you receive :/

Yelp
Came on a weekday at 1 pm and was immediately seated. But sadly there wasn't much of a sushi selection going around on the conveyor belt. Fortunately, the convenience of ordering off the screen and having it delivered to the table made up for it. The screen provided useful information about each sushi roll's ingredients, counted plates deposited into the slot, and offered estimated arrival times. The novelty of this place is definitely watching the sushi plates go around on the conveyor belt and being able to easily grab them. The concept of paying per plate with various pricing tiers adds to the unique dining experience. An extra treat was the opportunity to receive a prize for every 15 plates, and we got a cute little Peanuts pin during their limited time collaboration. The service from our server, Danny, was exceptional--friendly, welcoming, and he gladly addressed all of our questions, enhancing our overall enjoyment. The option to choose between self-checkout and paying through a server at the end was convenient. I recommend downloading the app for added benefits like earning points. The sushi was pretty average but the menu's diversity, including soups, ramen, udon, tempura, rice dishes, and other appetizers, caters to various tastes. So there's something for everyone. Overall, it was a great first experience, and I'd recommend it for both the novelty and the friendly service.

Yelp
Just want to add the table & chair was dirty and sticky, we cleaned it ourselves. The restrooms are dirty, the floor was wet and full if toilet paper, my mother-in-law who's senior went in and out with toilet papers sticking to her shoes. In general the restaurant is poor managed. We spent an hour and half there and only get 2 cups of water, the second cup came when we leave. The waiter told us he knew we were there but he's doing other thing. Then we saw him chatting with another staff in kitchen. This is by far worst experience. We went to the one in NJ which is at least better services. Actually other than giving us water & chopsticks we are asking for anything particular. Hope you treat your customers better.

Yelp
We've got a revolving sushi boom in nyc. This branch is a bit small so you'll usually wait about over a hour during lunch or dinner service. Once seated though the fun begins. Sushi comes around on the sushi belt and you can order ala cart and it comes on the top belt. Service and tidyness were a bit subpar. They seemed to be not keeping up with the tidyness and the waiters seem to be a bit frazzled. Love the beverage robot but garbage was strewn all on his lower shelf. Wished they cleaned that up each time it made it back to the beverage station. Sushi though was all on point. Fresh and creative. Plenty of options to pick from and loved the yellow tail and tuna. Creative rolls and a abundant on choices. Go for the dessert as well. The tart was great. If it weren't for the tidyness and service, this was why a star was knocked off. I would try again though.

Yelp
A great place for some casual sushi and other Japanese food. The revolving belt of delectable dishes adds a playful twist, making every bite an adventure. Freshness is the name of the game here, from classic nigiri to inventive rolls. The touchscreen at each table lets you customize your sushi experience. It's like having a personal sushi chef at your fingertips. The blend of conveyor belt charm and made-to-order excellence sets Kura apart. The ambiance is vibrant, perfect for a laid-back yet exciting sushi affair. The staff is always smiling, ensuring your sushi journey is as delightful as the rolls themselves. A sushi paradise where innovation meets tradition flawlessly. An absolute must-visit for sushi enthusiasts and anyone craving a fun, flavorful dining experience.

Yelp
This place is so fun! The rotating dishes are organized and fun to grab. There is also a tablet to order anything you don't see revolving on the belt. Every 15 plates inserted in the plate "done" box you get a price from the machine above your table. The interior is so cute. The size of the place is a little tiny so when you are waiting outside it's not too fun when the weather isn't great. Wish they had some type of exterior build on the large sidewalk outside for the wait, it was rainy and windy probably the worst part of the experience. The staff were all amazing including the robot that serves drinks.

Yelp
I once saw a long line at a Kura Sushi bar in NJ a few years ago. From the outside, it looked like a cool novelty, but I didn't want to wait an hour. To my delight, Kura opened a new location in Carle Place, NY. Upon entering, you can't help but feel that you are in a space age sushi "factory", complete with conveyor belts moving food throughout the room, touchscreens for ordering food, and robots delivering your drinks. The sushi itself is fresh due to the rapid turnover and customer volume, but you can't escape the factory feeling that this is mass produced sushi on an assembly line. Each plate of sushi is very uniform and consistent, however, the slices of fish are generally thin. While the quality is good, it is one step below a good quality sushi restaurant. They "reward" you for every 15 plates of sushi with a ball that drops down a chute with a surprise trinket. TL/DR: This is the McDonalds of Sushi bars.
google avatar

Lily W.

Yelp
I had a great dinner experience here and it was my first time at this location. I usually go to the one in New Jersey. If I had to compare, they are both consistent in their service, cleanliness, and variety of sushi. This conveyer belt sushi is a really fun place to eat. I came here on a very rainy day and got seated quickly around 5PM. Although, it did get really crowded after 7PM. I didn't take photos of the food this time since I was busy conversing with other people and we were all very focused on eating the food while keeping an eye out for plates we wanted. You can also order the plates you want on the tablet above your table, and they will bring the food on the upper conveyer belt level. I enjoyed a lot of the pieces and two of my favorites has been the aburri salmon with cream cheese and the fresh snow crab leg. I can't wait to come back again!
google avatar

Natasha F.

Yelp
When this first opened we came to check it out and the wait was 5 hours long. The novelty must have wore out because upon checking the app there was no wait at all today. We went to check it out and it is a really cute concept that I think everyone should try at least once. The sushi is pretty good nothing too high end on the rolls but the nigiri salmon pieces were fresh. The service is great and courteous along with the robot that brings out the drinks. There was a bug that appeared in our plate but it looked like a bug that eats veggies not a roach or anything of that sort so I didn't mention it but someone should be inspecting the food better before sending out. $3.75 per plate can add up quickly.

Yelp
This place is so fun for families and a true experience. We heard of this chain before but didn't want to trek to Flushing or NJ due to traffic and congestion. When I saw this location, decent travel time from Queens and plenty of parking in the lot, it was a no brainer. We arrived early before 5pm on a Saturday and there were already people waiting. Some checked in on the app and others at the kiosk in front of the restaurant. Seems like the app was more convenient to use based on patron feedback. Our wait was about 15-20 minutes checking in at the kiosk. We noticed there were empty tables inside and the reason for the wait was likely that they had to manage the amount of food coming out to feed the amount of patrons already in the restaurant. Either way, we didn't mind waiting because this was an incredible experience for our family. On top of that, staff was kind and friendly. I liked that they all seem to rotate their responsibilities so one person isn't always doing the same thing. Our kids LOVED this place from watching the conveyer belt to the highlight of their meal, waving at the robot every time it passed our table. I was skeptical of sitting near the door but it felt very private. An occasional draft swept in when the door opened but the chairs are high enough that it felt cozy and tucked away from the world. We were beaming through our entire meal. Each dish was $3.75 unless noted otherwise. Decent amount of options for all of us - both raw and cooked. The food was fresh and hot for certain items. Pleasantly surprised! Didn't expect it to be as good as it was. 15 plates get you a cute little toy that comes down from a chute and of course, we had to stuff ourselves with 30 plates so both kids could get one. Love that you could order everything on the computer screen above in case you didn't see what you wanted on the belt. We had so much fun watching it zoom down the top belt. An amazing experience. Absolutely recommended for families and witness a cool way to get your food. Very engaging. Kids could put their own dishes in when done - great way to encourage independency. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Surprisingly good. The hype around this place opening in Carle Place was insane with lines initially reaching 2-3 hours for dinner. Highly recommend lunch if you want to keep the wait to a minimum or until the hype goes away. Conveyor belt sushi is a novelty but the food here is quite good. Most of the pieces are pretty fresh and priced fairly. Favorites were the tamago and anything with yuzu jalapeno. The best part of the experience is the use of the tablets to order things you don't want to wait for or are out of stock as well as the use of the slot to drop your plate and count them. Service is friendly and very good. I like the fact that you can eat as much or as little as you want. While not the best quality fish, it's definitely above average and fun to boot.
google avatar

Valerie B.

Yelp
Had a great meal here. Everything is so good and so fresh. The staff is really nice and helpful. My friend had never been here before and the staff was so nice to show her how to get the plates off the belt. Love love love the tamago. It's delicious. One of my favorite things to eat. The variety of sushi is great and the little prizes you get are cute. This is a fun place to go.

Yelp
Took my son here for his first conveyer belt sushi experience in NY. We came on a Monday when they first opened, and there were already a lot of ppl waiting outside. Don't forget to check-in and get added to the virtual wait list on the kiosk right outside the door or on the Kura app. We only waited about 5 minutes before we got ushered to our table. All the staff were very friendly and nice. Everything is pretty much self-serve (order your own drinks, food, and check out on the tablet). The food was better than I expected, some were just ok. The 2 of us had 17 plates, an appetizer, and a kitsune udon. Empty plates are deposited in a slot at the end of the table. For every 15 sushi plates, the machine automatically splits out a ball prize. I thought the prices were reasonable at $3.75 a plate and $5-$9 for the rest. Love the modern design & comfortable booths, not to mention the KuraBots serving drinks. My son had a great time here, we'll definitely be back again.

Tina W.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday afternoon. It wasn't busy. Which was good in a way because we were seated immediately. Also because it wasn't busy, there was barely any sushi coming around on conveyer. But it was ok, bc we ended up ordering it from the menu, and it came straight to my table whatever I ordered. Sushi isn't bad, but if you crave sushi, this isn't it. I feel like a lot of the rolls have a fusion twist to it, it's in the sauces. Like an eel roll had so much sauce on it that it was just too sweet. Overall it wasn't bad. My kids enjoy this place bc they get to pull sushi from conveyer. We will he back. Thanks

Yelp
Finally, an updated review. A party of 4 came here for a late lunch on a Saturday. Everyone enjoyed the food, and I was pleased to see that the variety has improved, including uni sushi! I was too focused on what was on the belt, that I didn't get to snap a good picture. ***The only recommendation is that I hope they start having smth for birthdays ; it was my nephew's birthday, and when I asked the waitress if they do anything for birthdays, she seemed hesitant. Overall, the kids were excited about the place.

Yelp
Awesome restaurant! I thought I'd have to travel to Japan to experience revolving sushi but turns out one was right in my backyard on Long Island. My bestie and I tried this place and were thoroughly impressed. Is the sushi the best? Absolutely NOT but it's worth coming for the experience. It's super fun and everything is automated through technology which makes for a great experience!
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Welcome to our dystopian future! I mean it is all so alluring, so shiny, new, automated and efficient. The technology they put into running the show is impressive - touch pad waitlist and ordering, robotic servers, lightning fast conveyor belts, little animations and shiny prize balls to keep you motivated to order more. It is really a shame they didn't use their technological prowess in locating some quality fish, ingredients or into making sushi rice. Not going to criticize everything, but here are a few egregious items: Spanish Mackerel (Aji) was bland and mushy - Usually it is called sawara not Aji which is meant for Horse Mackerel Umami oil Salmon is coated in sesame oil Seared Scallop Japanese Mayo - if Miracle Whip is now Japanese Mayo then this is spot on. They tend to run out of items - Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna and Hokkaido Milk Creamy Tart were MIA When the bill comes the usual 18, 20 and 22% tip suggestions which makes me wonder what robots need with money? Don't you usually tip on service, but I get it, post COVID we have become conditioned to hit that tip button on anything with a screen. If you want to come here then use their app to add yourself to the wait list to cut some time, or just wait a couple months until the novelty wears off and the reality of crappy sushi sets in.

Yelp
Came last night for my birthday (8/21) I say go at least once. It was fun and definitely a cool place to take your kids if they like sushi. It's super clean which I like. It is still new though so the cleanliness should be automatic. Let's give it a few months and see how that goes. The sushi is okay..... definitely not my first, second, or even 3rd choice for sushi but the experience makes it better. They did have some cool options though. If you like human interaction this isn't the place to go. It's all automated, the food is served automatically on a conveyor belt. If you don't want what's already on the belt you can order what you want from the screen above the table and then it's sent to you on the belt...there is even a robot that brings you your drinks. The humans you do encounter you want to ask them if they're robots too. The hostess was not warm at all. Told her how to pronounce my name and she said it wrong 4 more times. It's really not that hard. "Ree-Vuh" it's almost like she did it intentionally. There's literally no warmth in that place from anyone except the robot that delivers the drink. Actually, there was one girl though she delivered our Sake, she was SWEET as pie! If I do come back she's the only human I want to see. Also, don't waste your time with the "Call Button" it's like they don't pay it ANY attention. We waited 10 minutes for a server from another section to randomly happen by and see that we needed help.... We didn't even see the guy who was originally supposed to be our "server" until it was time for the bill. I didn't like the order food options... the stuff we wanted they were out of and the pics are deceiving. I feel I should have the option to order a whole roll and not just 2-3 pieces at a time. The beef udon was super good, but the servers were CLUELESS about the ingredients which is not helpful being that people have allergy's. He brought me an allergen list that didn't have what I asked about on it, then didn't bother to find out the correct information. I probably won't be back unless my friends want to come but it was a cool experience to try out.... Once.

Yelp
Not a bad experience. Been to other Kura's before and it's consistent. Although there was an incident where our ordered food said it arrived but never received. Same issue with the table next to us.

Yelp
It's an okay experience for those like the novelty of conveyor belt sushi Sushi was ok like most Japanese sushi but with more variety , seared beef and eel was above average. The soft shell crab was so so heavy on the fried dough The long line and edit is a killjoy for me and not justify the price and green tea 3.95 seem over priced Been there done that no need to try again

Yelp
Checked in today for lunch. Need to auto check in at the door. They will text you when table is ready. Sushi can be taken off of the conveyor belt, and when plate is empty must be placed down chute on table. This is how they calculate your bill. You can also order off the menu using self ordering machine one item at a time. When it's ready it will be sent to the upper belt and stops in front of your table. Loved the robot drink delivery. Sushi was fresh, nice variety. Ordered udon was delicious and several pieces of sushi that I didn't see on belt. Fun place would def recommend it: auto machine Great concept,

Yelp
I had an amazing time trying Kura Revolving sushi. The staff is super friendly and attentive. My son loved the robot that brings you the refreshments. I love the menu and self checkout. It's bright and super clean being that is new of course. I will come back again. Thanks

Yelp
Food was gross, all rice, service was ok, robot brining drinks was cool. Try it once maybe.

Yelp
Like Disney of Sushi! Very modern, fun spot that will keep you very entertained. A robot brings you water and orders get delivered by a conveyor belt. Definitely a must try!

Yelp
My bestie took me here on New Year's Eve. I truly loved the atmosphere and the food. The sushi was pretty good. It's an interesting concept with rotating sushi on the conveyor belt. I did not expect the robot waiter, it took getting used to. Overall such a fun unique concept. I would absolutely come back. I already told my friends about it. By the way you pay per plate ,it's not an all you can eat sushi. Definitely come ready to eat, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
A cute concept and the handrolls were very good. However the uni was spoiled. The Maki rolls were very average, and some of the sushi that passed us by looked off color. I recommend sticking to the handrolls. The salmon skin with shishito peppers were a standout. I feel ill from eating the uni- do not order!

Yelp
Newly opened on 7/17/23. Located in a shopping plaza. Pro: - Big free parking lot. Nice outdoor little garden area with water fountain to wait for tables. Barnes and Nobles is a couple stores down - using Kura app, you can join waitlist in advance. You can check waitlist progression. Text message will be sent to you when it's almost your turn. Then you return to the restaurant to check in. - self serve drinks with robot delivering. All orders including checkout can be done at the computer at table side. - every 15 plates inserted will drop a surprise ball. This month is lanyard. Switch toys periodically. - good customer service Con: - Long waiting time. Saturday 4:30 pm has wait time of 90 min. - for drink refills, you still have to flag down a human to do so. - food quality is so so. Mainly sells the conveyor and self serve idea. Kids love it. - pricy. $3.75 per plate. Hot food like ramen can be around $10. - if you sit at the lower half of the conveyer belt, more than half of the plates were taken already. Only empty shells on the conveyer belt. So we order a lot from the computer. Overall, it's overpriced with so so food quality. Cute idea which my kids love. Will come only during kids birthdays. Tips: Recommend soft shell crab tempura $8.75 and Tonkotsu Ramen $11.40. Very tasty. Join kura app to earn reward points.

Yelp
I've been to three other Kura locations around the world and this one isn't my favorite. The queue system is broken. Came to eat on a weekday evening. We originally signed up on the "iPad" outside the front door and the estimated wait was greater than 30 minutes for two people. We didn't even receive a text message confirmation until 10 minutes later. After 30 minutes, we received a text to check-in at the front door only to find that new customers who had just arrived (also a parties of two) were seated right away after signing in on the "iPad"!!! Totally not fair!!! The utensils and table were dirty with soy sauce. There were shoe marks on the seats. The wasabi on the table was also stained with soy sauce. The belt kept on jamming while we ate and that caused a bit of trouble. Bathroom was clean though. At the end, we had to place orders instead of grabbing plates from the belt (which took out the fun part of dining at a conveyer belt restaurant). The bill came out pretty expensive compared to other locations in the US, not sure why. The price of each dish was also not displayed on the menu.

Yelp
My family recently visited Kura Revolving sushi bar and had a pretty enjoyable experience. This place is great for kids and adults who want to experience a taste of Japan's fun revolving sushi bars. The highlight was the free toy that came out after you finished about 20 plates. My kids had so much fun and they were excited to put the plates in for the toy so they were eager to eat more. Each plate averages from $3-$8 per plate. Each plate comes with 2-3 pcs of sushi. Depends on the fish. The sushi itself was average in terms of taste and variety, but the presentation was decent. Service is a bit slow considering they also have some of those robots that bring your drinks to the table. The ambiance is fun, and reminds me of Japan's famous fun dining restaurants.

Yelp
So this is a newly open spot into LI. Sure, their system is chaotic and doesn't make any sense. Doesn't matter if you wait in line, call to make reservations or book yourself a spot. Basically they don't have their ducks in order. So be patient on that part. Also their waiters all seem inexperience cause they talk and act like Highschool kids. Which is fine. They got to start somewhere? AS for the food. It's good. Does it come often? Sadly no it doesn't. Majority of the people who lost patience they end up just ordering it from the screen. While the conveyor belt had little to slim pickings. Depending where you are seated. I would come back when the crowd dies down and they can get their system in line and situated with food and waiting system. BUT if you MUST get those Bare Bears Merch. Then best get em while it's around. They usually switch it up in a month or 2.

Yelp
Used the app to get on the waitlist. We were on time and walked right in. The food was much better than expected for conveyor belt sushi. Because of the high volume of customers, and they were understaffed, some of our ordered sashimi pieces came 30mins later. The wait was worth it. The sashimi pieces are much higher quality than the sushi pieces on the revolving belt. There were some dishes that have different spin on regular salmon. Ex: Umami sauce salmon sushi, olive oil salmon, cream cheese mayo salmon. Had a great time choosing dishes and dropping the plates in the bin. Got a cute keychain toy after 15 dishes. Tables only seat a max of 4, so everyone can see the food pass by.

Yelp
Cute new place that opened up not far from me! Loving this new spot. They have these robots that deliver your drink to you and conveyor belts with sushi, rolls and desserts! For the service it was pretty fast, you can order your dishes on the tablet and they come in the express shelf! Definitely a fun experience. Also, for every 15 dish you have a prize drops down! The sushi was fresh and the taiyaki red been dessert with vanilla ice cream was delicious! Can't wait to come again!

Yelp
Having been to the NJ and the San Antonio locations, I'm well aware of how long lines can be. Save yourself the trouble and get the phone app so you can place yourself on the waitlist before you leave your house instead of at the door. This way you won't be disappointed at the wait. That said, using my method, I've never really encountered any problems. I've only been here during lunch hours / right when it opens during the weekday. Longest wait I've had was maybe 10 mins. Compared to the other 2 locations, I found the sushi here the best tasting and freshest. We also love the salmon skin + shishito pepper appetizer (fatty yes, but so so good). They now offer a few sashimi plates too which they didn't have when it first opened. Skip the ramen here (it sucks in all locations). Would love to see more plates on the conveyor belt in the future as we mostly ordered from the screen. Not my most favorite japanese restaurant to go to for food, but will come back for the fun-ness of it all.

Yelp
Come for the gimmick? 100%. Come for the food? 0%. We came just for the experience, but left feeling hungry. It's $3.75 a plate which at quick thought isn't bad, but we like to eat and $3.75 a plate adds up fast. The sushi selection is minimal, they have a few hot food options you can order but the portions are small. I will say the beef bowl, tempura and beef udon are good and the hot food seems pretty authentic. But worth it? No. Everything is pretty much done through a touch screen or a robot that brings your drinks. However the service from real people were spot on. Super friendly, quick, and attentive when needed. Overall though, don't think I'll be back unless someone else wants to experience the gimmick. Twice we've come (second time was for someone else to experience it) and we've left hungry both times, but we're left with expensive bills. Pro tip: download the app and add your name to the wait list.

Yelp
The most fun, affordable and a 1 in a lifetime experience The robot is so cute and the cool conveyors make it so emersed

Yelp
Okay so a bit difficult to rate on certain aspects but overall - sushi is decently fresh and tasty *for what it is*. They pump out pre-cut fish in assembly line style and it comes around on a conveyor belt like in Japan. It's supposed to be more of an experience and it's enjoyable! You get to pick what you want, see what looks good, and have it readily available. If you don't see something, you can order it alacarte on the display. The bad part is the potential wait. Forget about walk-ins, but if you get the app, you can see the wait time and time accordingly. If you're not pressed for time, even better. We failed one day because there still was a wait and then had success another day by going on an off time and checking in occasionally. So I can see why people might get upset at a wait but you have to go in with expectations. And if you do, it's a good experience. Drinks come by a fun robot and staff is fine. It can be quick (or not) and it's choose your own adventure. They have specialty pieces every so often so that's nice to explore. Tables and experience is probably best for 4 people max due to having to select it off of the belt.

Yelp
I have been eyeing this place for a while but don't feel like waiting so I finally downloaded the app assuming it'll help me cut down on the actual wait time. The app said live wait time was 25 minutes but when I clicked on the bottom to get on the waitlist, it ended up being about 45 minutes! Either way it was not too terrible by the time we drove there and even walked Barnes & Noble nearby to pass time. You have to otherwise wait outside in the cold as there is no space inside to do so. When we finally got seated it felt like we were forgotten. It was our first time there and had no idea what to do and was confused. No one came to give us an introduction or even give us utensils until I waved someone down, almost feeling like I'm bothering them. My husband actually started eating with his hands early on because he was so hungry and no one was stopping by. The food was pretty decent and honestly better than I had anticipated. It was hard to get a hold of certain items on the conveyor belt and not always something that can be ordered on the screen menu which was a bummer. My kids had a lot of fun putting the empty plates down the chute and seeing the robot serving our beverages. Honestly not sure why when checking out the minimum tipping was 18% (although you can opt to choose a customized amount) because I felt like zero service was had. Overall I thought the concept is super fun and it was certainly different. I am not sure if I would be back if it was my choice... my kids however may sway me.

Yelp
This was a fun experience! I'm new to he sushi train game but was excited to see one so close. The place is definitely geared towards a younger crowd (in my opinion). Their dishes seem to be very authentic as well. I went on a Tuesday for early dinner and there was no wait time at all! The staff were unbelievable nice and helpful. They have a cute robot to deliver the initial drinks which was very cute and fun. They do collabs for anime lovers- and currently they're doing one with Jujutsu Kaisen! The food itself is pretty average for sushi, but still delicious

Yelp
Came here for an early dinner with my friend. We got here around 415. You have to check-in on the iPad outside. The wait said 0-10 minutes. Someone came out and brought us to our table. A staff member came to our table and showed us how to take the sushi from the conveyer belt. I found her a bit rude. Not only can you take sushi from the belt, but you can also order off the iPad and it will come directly to your table. We had to do this with sashimi as it wasn't coming around on the belt at all. It's served over ice. You can also order other sushi that you don't see coming around or that's empty when it gets to you. You also order your drinks on the iPad. If you want a refill you press the call button...otherwise you will be charged for another drink. Your drink is also brought to you by a robot. You pay per plate...be very mindful of this because it adds up quickly. When you're done you put your plate down the slot at your table. Overall the sushi was okay. You can't customize a roll if you have any allergies. What I mean is, you cannot order a roll without avocado, without sauce or without crunchies. This doesn't make a lot sense as when you order off the iPad it comes directly to your table. When we paid and left, we were basically chased out by a staff member saying we were missing a signed credit card slip and she demanded we sign it. The signed slip said 1 of 2. We did sign it, however the bill was paid half cash and half credit card. There was not another slip to be signed being that it was paid with cash. Chasing us was not necessary. She was very rude about this. This is not a place I'd visit often, more so a special occasion.

Yelp
It was fun until it wasn't at 4 am. The best part was the fish waffle. Slightly nerve wracking trying to grab things as they flew by. Annoying to see lots of empty plates fly by. The super bad part was FOOD POISONING. The likely suspects were conch and Hokaiddo scallop which were the only things my son had that I didn't. He was sick pooping and puking for 12 hours.
