I've heard of Kura for many years, especially when I lived in San Diego. I didn't actually end up eating here for the first time until last year. My husband and I moved to Koreatown and were looking for a decently priced sushi restaurant. After hearing about the hype for so long, we figured what better time to try it.
Parking can be tricky, even when parking in the garage. The gates often don't open when trying to leave! Luckily, my husband just gets out of the car after I've inserted my ticket and just manually lifts it so that I can drive through. So ghetto. This has happened at both gates when leaving the garage, multiple times. So word to the wise: don't eat here alone. You will get stuck.
We are usually always seated immediately upon arrival which is nice. Everything after that goes so smoothly thats impossible to believe. You can order the drinks through the touch screen at your seat, and a cute little music -playing robot will deliver them to you. All the sushi your heart desires can be grabbed from the conveyer belt next to your table and you can order more via the touch screen. The ambiance is nice and the restaurant it relatively clean.
As for the sushi, all is generally of decent quality. Though its not top tier, its worth it for the price. The garlic ponzu salmon is definitely my favorite, and we like to order a side of it on the side to dip our other nigiri in. We'll typically pay around $60-$90 for a bunch of food, drinks and green tea mochi for desert. Come here if you like no bs for dinner. It's one of my favorite spots to hit up after work when I just want to start eating ASAP without waiting.
Something to note is that I wish they had a bigger selection or at least a better rotation of new, featured items.
