The Best Kid-Friendly Family Restaurants in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"Watching plates go around on the restaurant’s conveyor belt is mesmerizing for all ages, and kids love feeding their empty plates into the gachapon machines to win round capsules packed with a surprise toy. Popular sushi items, like handrolls, yuzu jalapeno tuna, and umami oil salmon, automatically travel around the booths for easy grabbing. If kids want to order items off the menu like ramen, udon, and fish-shaped taiyaki ice cream, they can be ordered separately from the server. Be aware that the popular Japanese restaurant doesn’t take reservations, so waits can be long." - Helen I. Hwang

Google
The vibes were there, but the food just didn’t quite hit for me. Potentially didn’t grab the freshest rolls. The system is fairly organized, and we got sat on schedule. Service was friendly, and having a robot was a cute touch. Might have to give it another chance.

Dalila S.

Google
First timer and it was a great experience. The plates go slow enough to where you’re not panicking to get what you want. Large amount of choices available. If you’re the type of person who likes to get many different rolls at once or prefers only a few pieces then this is perfect for you. Servers were kind and friendly. It wasn’t too loud and the environment was nice and calm. I believe you do need a reservation although because it was just me and one other person and there was a table available we were served regardless. Definitely returning!

Google
Great food, it’s fresh and the quality is consistent. Quick service, no wait on weekday afternoons and plenty of parking. $3.85/ plate is good price for the quality of food.

Google
There’s a fun arcade like environment with putting the plates down the chute. You get little charms after every so many plates. Umami oil salmon nigiri is mind blowing. Great for a casual and fun experience.

Google
I love coming here as the sushi is pretty fresh and the cost is very reasonable. Their sushi rolls are just ok, I mainly come here for the nigiri which is absolutely delicious. It is best to make a reservation or join the wait-list early by downloading their app as wait times can be very long due to the popularity of this restaurant and somewhat limited seating. My kids really enjoy putting the plates into the waste bin and having the screen count the plates and show short cartoon videos. You get a prize that rolls out of the gacha machines for every 15 plates.

Google
One of my favorite sushi spots in San Diego! If you’re one of those who can’t eat a whole set of rolls by yourself, this is the way to go. With portion setting of 2-4, this is the way to introduce yourself to Japanese sushi. I highly recommend this place. Make sure to , definitely download the app to reserve your spot in line because this place gets packed! Food is served on a conveyor belt and a touchscreen ordering system. Your drinks are brought to you by a robot. And the staff are friendly to answer any questions! What more could you ask for? Oh earning points on the app for eating there?

Google
When compared to the reviews, I wasn't blown away by the food here. We came here late on a Sat night and got seated immediately even though their wait-list said 35-50 mins. You can't reserve in advance. You can add yourself to the wait-list at the main door. I actually think I enjoyed the experience more because we got seated immediately. I wouldn't have waited for 35-50 mins for this. The revolving bar brings you rolls and nigiri. Now, as compared to other sushi bars I have tried, I felt that Kura did not have as much variety in either. The sushi was just ok flavor wise too. It wasn't as well thought out and some of the nigiri didn't look very appetizing to try. What I liked was that everything on the revolving bar was priced at $3.80. With the revolving sushi bars, you can rack up your bills quite quickly but counting the plates and knowing there was a fixed price, definitely helped us. Service was fast. They have other entree like options but considering that this is a "sushi bar", we only tried the nigiri and the rolls. The wasabi was fresh and the highlight of the whole experience. We were out of there in like 20 mins. I think there are better options out there but this is ok if you just want the experience of a revolving sushi bar.

Google
Fun place to go to food was all right but the price was definitely worth it. Staffing was quick and efficient. Basically pay as much as you eat.

Yelp
I came for the Kirby collab and it was awesome! Food was tasty and the prizes were super cute :) My server was also super friendly and attentive, would 100% recommend this place.

Yelp
Service is always great & the food is amazing. I recommend going during lunch because it's less packed.

Yelp
The sushi is of good quality and the vibes here are immaculate. I had a bunch of quality different types of sushi. I had the following below: *Umami Oil Salmon 5/5 *Snow crab leg 3/5 *Tuna 3/5 *Yellowtail 4/5 *Shrimp 3/5 *Rainbow Roll 5/5 *Caterpillar roll 4/5 *Crunchy Roll 4/5 *Philadelphia Roll 4/5 *Snow crab meat Roll 4/5 *American Waygu 3/5 *Gooey Butter Cake 3/5 It's safe to say i ate very well that day and was actually surprised at the quality of the sushi. Everything tasted great. In addition to this it can be a little confusing as the service system is more electronic based. You can also order on their tablet system and a nice little robot worker will come rolling to your table with your order ! You can also order on the line belt and they will send it directly towards your table if you dont want to wait on the conveyer belt. It is a bit pricey for the sushi as most start at the price of $4.25 and this number adds up quick. Once you're done with your food you drop all your plates in this slot located at the end of your table and you have the option to pay on your phone , pretty neat. Some key things to note is that parking is very limited here. You can try your luck for street parking or at one of the pay to park lots nearby. They do a reservation system but honestly it is not reliable at all. We had a time slot for 6pm and ended up seated 45 mins later. I really enjoyed this place and recommend it to anyone who likes the atmosphere or if it's their first time trying sushi as there is many great items to choose from. I will definitely be coming back to try the other items they offer on the menu !

Yelp
My experience at Kura was honestly really fun! The revolving sushi aspect made my dinner very enjoyable and a different experience. The food here was very tasty! My favorite items were the yakiniku beef, umami oil salmon, and the taiyaki ice cream. It was nice that we were able to order food from the screen because depending where you are sitting, you may not get an item you want on its first time around. When ordering from the screen, there was not too much of a wait time for your order. The collaboration this time was Kirby and it was super fun! If you opt in to there game, you can get prizes for eating plates. This made the ambiance of the entire restaurant very fun because you get dinner and a game! However, you would need to keep track of how many plates you eat because the prices do add up. My only downside was that when I went, I did not make a reservation beforehand on their app. As a result, our wait time to be seated was 2 hours. Overall, I would come back if I make a reservation!

Yelp
Again, the Kura "Reserve" Specials can be fabulous. Yesterday, I had the Matcha Mayo Seared Scallop* Two pieces of Hokkaido Scallops, drizzled with Matcha Mayo and sprinkled with Matcha Furikake; Matcha Umami Oil Sea Bream, Sea Bream from Shikoku Island in the Ehime and Kochi regions of Japan, which was coated with Matcha Umami Oil and topped with Microgreen; Matcha Umami Oil Salmon, two pieces of Salmon coated in Matcha Umami Oil and topped with Microgreens and the amazing Bluefin Tuna Otoro (tuna belly), which had a soft, delicate texture. It's worth a trip each month to try their specials.

Yelp
Fun place to eat and hang out with family and friends. Just make sure to sign up your name on their waiting list as soon as you can, coz the wait time to dine in can be to long. Fun way to eat Sushi here, either you grab them in the conveyor that passes your table or use the tablet and order from there and when it's ready it will be placed on a special conveyor and automatically stop in your table area and then you grab it, once you're done with the plate, just dropped it in their plate dispenser that is also in your table area. Thats how they bill you, every plate you drop in their plate disposal is counted and that's how they calculate your bill , its per plate. Pretty much here no need for a server, all is self-serve coz even the water or any drink you order will be delivered by a robotic server machine. Food was great, but parking here every time we come is hard to find one, and it's kind of tight and crowded parking.

Yelp
So much fun at Kura Sushi. We love this spot. We really enjoyed the Kirby theme they had going this time. The service is always great and always with a smile. I like that the servings are small. That way you can enjoy a lot more variety than at a traditional sushi bar where the rolls have more pieces. I love the American Wagyu and Unami Oil Seared Beef, they are an unusual option and very tasty. We always get the Crunchy Roll and the Golden Crunchy Roll, so yummy. We finally tried the Gooey Butter Cake, it was amazing! It will be a must have going forward, So if you're looking for a fun sushi place with tasty food and great service, this definitely the place to go. They are very popular and the wait can be very long but they now take reservations on their app and it works great! We did this and on,t had to wait about 5 minutes when we got there!

Yelp
So disappointed... I usually come here with family and friends and enjoy Kura's revolving sushi. I used to feel like the price was worth the experience. The service is great per usual, staff are always welcoming with a smile and prompt on drink refills. This place is relatively self service so they aren't needed much other than drink refills. The conveyor belt is so fun to use, but I felt the night I went everything was relatively empty, which is ok because everything can still be ordered fresh via the tablet. I love the rotating themes/collaborations, it really adds to the vibe. Now to the bad. Each plate from the conveyor belt is now $3.90 each! Most plates are nigiri containing two pieces. For 3 of us this totaled to over $120 as everything adds up quick! We won't be returning more than likely, I get inflation with rising food costs and labor, but for this price you can definitely go for a more premium option.

Yelp
This place is very tiny! However its a fun time! Service could be better, more friendly, and attentive but you pretty much serve yourself with grabbing what you want. You just sit down and each sushi plate that comes along that you want to eat, just press where it says "push". Grab it and when you're done, dispense those small plates in their compartment where they collect it and keeps track of how many plates you've grabbed. On the screen above the conveyor belt, shows you how many plates you've grabbed total. Also you can order from the touchscreen in the middle above the conveyor belt. There are two rows of conveyor belts. One on the bottom at table level and the other right above it. The one on top are the ones you order from the menu. Thats pretty neat. 15 plates get you a one piece toy. 20 plates gets you another one piece toy. This place can get very expensive. From the small amount of meat and fish to the really expensive desserts and their salty ramen, I enjoyed most of the sushi. The eel was really good and I loved thd salmon toro. I would not get the ramen bc it is very salty. The butter slice was delicious. This place is good for me bc I don't eat much. Ayce is about 42$ and my mom and I have small appetites. Not worth. For 7 people my bill was 221$ including tip. That's with desserts and ramen. This is not bad at all versus 340$ including 18% tip at ayce. Granted my children weren't that hungry, but i don't see it much more than 200$ for my family. Id come again bc its simple and quick. I just wish it was roomier.

Yelp
Fun sushi spot! You can grab what you want off the conveyor belt or have it made and sent directly to you! It's a cool, different way to get your sushi fix. Don't skip the salmon skin had roll! So so good!
google avatar

Joriene M.

Yelp
Golden Crunchy Roll ($3.85) - This was my favorite roll here! I love any roll that comes with eel sauce and spicy mayo. Red Dragon Roll ($3.85) - This roll had a great spicy sauce. Crunch Roll ($3.85) - I'm sold on any roll with shrimp tempura. Garlic Ponzu Salmon ($3.85) - I loved the garlic ponzu flavor but the salmon could've been fresher.

Yelp
I came here the other night for dinner and all the staff were just very attentive and sweet! I really appreciated this. The sushi revolver or train had so many fresh options! There's many different cuts of tuna, salmon, wagyu beef, and more. My favorite dishes were: crispy spicy tuna rice takoyaki miso tuna all of the nigiri's yelllowtail ikura basically everything Overall, 10/10 experience and fresh sushi. I will come here again.
google avatar

Jessica D.

Yelp
A great spot to grab sushi if you don't feel like waiting after ordering! Their sushi is on a conveyer belt so you can start grabbing whatever you like! If there's an item not on the belt or one you don't feel like waiting around for, you can order off the screen too! Such a fun concept!

Yelp
Kura was the perfect place to satisfy my sushi craving. The wait was not long today, since I arrived an hour after opening on a Saturday. With that being said, I can tell this place can get really busy. The conveyor sushi experience is always fun and Kura makes sure of that. I opted for a surprise challenge after finishing 15 plates of sushi. All sushi is priced at $3.95 per plate (not bad). After disposing 15 plates, I got a surprise ball prize; nice experience for kids. The conveyor belt is always clean and the options stay available. There is a second belt on top for "made fresh" orders. But if you're hungry like I am, push to open a bubble and grab one of the great sushi options they have. All the sushi I tried were fresh and delicious. Every single I devoured was excellent. I read a lot of options saying that the "fresh made" to order items are better but the conveyor belt options were great and did not disappoint. I will definitely be coming back here.

Yelp
Place is nostalgic for me having spent many a work lunch here but came recently with daughter for lunch and the prices have just about doubled and I'm not sure if the value is still there. Service is pretty much self serve after you get seated and just order on a screen and you still need to track down stuff for soda refills or anything else u might need. For me a daughter at lunch it was almost $120 which kind of shocked me since the be seen some ayce sushi places for lunch at less than that for two.
google avatar

Mark K.

Yelp
I was hoping that their new reservation system would somewhat makeup for the increasing prices but NO it didn't. We waiting 45 mins past our reservation watching people sit at tables well past when their bill was paid while the staff told us the reservations were running behind because people were taking longer than usual. The staff then sat a party of 1 at a 4 top while everyone waited. They have an app and the ability to tell you you get to your there immediately when your number is called, yet they have no way to let you know your reservation is running 30-45 mins behind! Yikes. Food is mid at best. Restaurant management has hit a low here. Not worth it anymore.
google avatar

Francesca P.

Yelp
Really fun unique experience and my first time visiting a rotating sushi bar! Love that they provide a little info video so you understand how everything works. It's pretty straightforward- grab the items you want off the belt, or use the screen to order. The belt always has a plate with a label and a picture of each dish so you know what you're grabbing. I love that everything came in sets of 2 cut rolls so it gives you a chance to branch out and try a variety of new things. They reward you for ordering 15 items by letting you get a prize from a gum-ball like machine with small toys in it. I preferred the freshness of the items I ordered myself over the ones I got from the rotating belt, and loved how those to-order items zip over to your table on a separate conveyer belt. Such a fun and special experience!
google avatar

Grace R.

Yelp
Download the app! You can make reservations and collect points. We rarely would go to Kura bc the line can be daunting! Tucked in the middle of convoy, kura is a fun sushi spot with their iconic revolving conveyor belt of sushi that you pay by the plate. It's gotten a bit pricier at 3.85? a plate but still very reasonable. It's fun to order on the iPad and get a prize every 15 or so plates. I was surprised at the freshness of the salmon (esp the umami oil and yuzu ones) and disappointed at the texture of the tuna. I really liked the amaebi (sweet shrimp) with yuzu *chefs kiss--that was my fave. It's not the best sushi but it's fun and fast and an experience--and made infinitely easier by the app.

Yelp
Kura provides an entertaining dining experience with sushi on conveyor belts, prizes for eating a certain amount of plates and robot servers. It had been quite a while since I had been to Kura and went for an early dinner on a Tuesday. The wait wasn't too long, about 15 minutes and all of the staff were super friendly and attentive. We sat at the bar near what I think was the start of the conveyor belt so there were lots of options to choose from and it seemed like they replenished things quickly. There's also the option to order from the iPad, including ramen and other items not on the conveyor belt. I'm also pretty sure a few things had changed since I'd been to Kura including the added plate return, each plate on the conveyor belt was covered and seemed that all dishes were $3.85. This added up pretty quick but was worth the experience every once in a while. The sushi itself is decent but I did not find the "spicy" dishes spicy, nor the wasabi. In all, I'm glad I made this visit and it satisfied my sushi craving.
google avatar

Hanna K.

Yelp
Still our go to sushi restaurant in San Diego. The plates have increased in price over the years (now $3.85 per plate) but quality has stayed the same. We noticed they have made a couple of changes recently including the new option of light rice! The conveyor belt sushi restaurants in Japan mostly have this option so we were bummed when they didn't have it here but now they do!!! Just select it from the touch screen and order it instead of grabbing it from the conveyor belt. They also changed the opening mechanism to the dishes to use a push button instead of the lift option probably because people were still struggling to open it. If you are afraid to get it open, just order from the screen! We always order using the screen to get warm rice instead of cold rice and you get what you want without having to wait long.
google avatar

Melanie M.

Yelp
After reading reviews, I'm glad I made a reservation because it was packed on a Friday night. You check in on the kiosk outside with your reservation #, then they call you to go inside. There weren't any booths available so my friend and I sat at the "bar". You can order on the tablet or wait for most of the food to come on the conveyer belt. Each plate is $3.85 so it's expensive if you want to eat a lot. Not the best sushi but still good.
google avatar

Robin L.

Yelp
Wasn't happy about the way Kura dealt with reservations but it is getting better. What has caused me to look for alternatives are the menu changes. Not sure why they seem to have added meat based sushi. I noticed more items on the menu that were not sushi, sashimi items but more general Japanese food.
google avatar

Jared C.

Yelp
I was dumbfounded that I've found another place with this conveyor belt concept, my last experience was in Washington D.C. DEFINITELY put in a reservation because the wait time can be extensive, thankfully, I had one. The food was tasty, my favorite was the deep fried rice variations and definitely the Wagyu rolls. The service is mostly self served besides drinks which occasionally is served by their cute little robot and some staff members. The gooey cake is definitely a must have if you have that sweet tooth, as well as their pumpkin mochi with vanilla ice cream. The young lady working the front with short hair was a turn off and I almost wanted to turn away due to her lack of emotion and poor customer service in the service industry and my first impression was not a good one. Nonetheless, later throughout my time being here, she started to gain that positive spark again. I just wanted to point out how the perspective was in the beginning. I still highly recommend and definitely am excited for my next time and experience here at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar.

Yelp
Last time coming here, which is a shame because I really like this place. We've been here before and usually there is someone at the hostess table outside the front entrance but tonight there was no one outside and the online check-in showed no wait time. I went inside the building with my family to see about being seated and were immediately greeted by a waiter named Monica with "What are you doing?". That was all, not a hello, or welcome, or anything else. We responded by telling her we were here to eat, and she once again responded by telling us to wait outside. Easily the rudest customer service I have ever experienced. I seriously cannot imagine ever asking a customer "What are you doing" in any context, especially as the very first interaction with said customer. Outside of that the food was good and there was a large selection of food. Custom orders came by quickly as well. However there was an error with one of the orders: we ordered a crispy rice tuna roll and received a crispy rice hotdog. We called over one of the waiters to resolve it, and she asked to see the order sheet to "see if you actually ordered that". When we checked it on the screen the order sheet reflected that we did order correctly and did receive the wrong item. We asked her if they would be charged differently and she said no, showing that the only purpose of even checking would be to potentially prove us wrong. This wasn't Monica, the first waiter who was rude. This was someone else, and I say this because we interacted with only 2 people and both of them were incredibly rude, highlighting that this is not just an issue with one employee and seems to be a problem with the customer service of this location as a whole now.

Yelp
My favorite go to sushi spots in San Diego! For the solo eater, or someone who wants to try multiple sushi rolls without having 8 or 10 of them! It's simple! You order your drinks or hot or other entrees at the iPad menu on ur table! Or you grab on the rotating conveyor belt! A robot comes to server your drinks! If your looking for traditional service you can them directly from your iPad. It's such a nice place to eat solo, or bring friends and family to try different food. Such a fun place! Make sure you download the app to reserve your spot!

Yelp
Amazing service! Very welcoming:) They did up the price a bit but honestly for the quality of the fish, it is super worth it! went kinda around the time that they opened but it was already super packed! Definitely coming again!!:)

Yelp
This is a fun sushi experience, i don't think i know of any other place in San diego with revolving sushi bar concept. Its a unique dinning experience, could be a fun date place. Also kids really much enjoying the experience of picking and choosing sushi from the constantly moving belt and also discarding plates into the shoot. As for quality, its very mediocre. The rolls are very generic and fish slices on top are skinny . We have tried lots of different sushi offerings from the conveyor belt as well as ordered a few appetizers and red been paste dessert with vanilla ice- cream. Check out and ordering is pretty simple, its all done thru a touch screen display that's above each table. When you order waters, a cute robot delivers it to your table. I've see these "machines" at pho locations round the city. Overall, fun and entertaining place to go once in a while but not somewhere i would go to on a regular basis for good sushi.
google avatar

Natania C.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends for a birthday dinner. The lines are pretty long - you'll find yourself waiting up to 2 or 3 hours. Sometimes, if you're waiting there in person, and they call a table that doesn't show up, you can go in early. The sushi to-order is fresh, but the ones that are on the conveyer belt have sometimes been there for a while. The prices are fair - it's about $3 to $5 per plate of sushi. We got about 25 dishes, but the servers forgot to give us the prize.

Yelp
Just came back from Japan so was missing conveyor belt sushi place we went to in Tokyo. We were so excited to see they had one right here in San Diego. Staff was so friendly even giving a quick in-service of the process. I loved all the different options of sashimi, nagiri, rolls, ramen, tempura, and other apps. You can choose them as they go by or order from iPad. I preferred to order of iPad. It then shoots to you in the conveyor belt. Love that part! It's entertaining and cool. The drinks come by robot to your table. So cute!! It reminded me so much of being in Japan! Loved it so much and will be back soon.

Yelp
Waited an hour outside. Signed and checked in. Waitress who worked night shift (Thanksgiving night) and is charged of calling out the numbers, said she called our number, we were outside the whole time, never apologized. Service can be improved. She is not fit to be in this line of work.

Yelp
Located in convoy, this was a decent sushi experience with a few pros and cons. The parking lot is always full, but there's a hidden garage behind the building that's less crowded. We were lucky to find a spot since many surrounding restaurants in the little plaza had closed. Came in around 9pm on a Saturday. The wait for a table was around 20 minutes, which wasn't too bad, and we got a text when it was our turn. You put your name down on the iPad outside. The inside spot is also super tiny so they make you wait outside. The restaurant operates on a self-serve model. First-timers will be shown how to open the tray for food, and there's a slot where you drop your plates to keep track of your bill. Payments can be made either through your phone or by asking a server for a card machine. You can also order food via the iPad at the table and it'll be delivered to you on the top conveyor belt. All the other food is on a rotating belt and you can pick and choose what you want. Theres also a robot that comes to you with your drinks. Food-wise, it was decent, with most plates priced at $3.80. It's affordable, and you can definitely eat your fill without breaking the bank. After 15 plates, you get a free keychain, which is a fun little incentive. Overall, it's a solid option for sushi if you're in the area, but it doesn't quite stand out among other sushi spots. Perfect little date spot and honestly would be up there for a great lunch time meal.

Yelp
Overall, my experiences at Kura Sushi was ok but couldve been better. The customer service was great, and the staff was friendly, but the food was good for what it is but the tomago didn't impress. It just tasted like an omelet. The wait time was also long, which is typical. I'd recommend going on a weekday to avoid the crowds. I'd give it a 3/5, good service and the sushi is good

Yelp
After Belmont Park, we were looking for a place to eat and since we had a great experience at a another location, we decided to dine at this location. When we arrived, there was already a line and then an IPad where you had to put yourself on a waiting list. Us not being from there, put our name on the list and went back to our car to wait for the text message that out table would be ready. It did specify a time, however, that time came and went and still no text. Mind you we were quoted to be sat right before 9 but because we relied on the text message like it said, we just continued to sit in the car. Come 915, still no text and so I ask my Husband to go and ask about our table. He then waved us down to go to the restaurant. At this point he looked upset so I asked him what happened. The response that they gave him was, their text message option doesn't work because it's a new system and that we had to wait outside not in the car for our name to be called. How are we supposed to know that when there was no sign at all saying that the text message option didn't work. This is AFTER the initial text message saying that our name was on the list and our table would be ready at a certain time. Anyway, My Husband asked to speak to a manager or someone so he can tell them about our experience so far. Here comes what looked like someone from the kitchen and the hostess and instead of taking fault or say that they could've been better at communicating, they kept telling us that it's a new system and the text message option doesn't work. Then another person came by, Melody, who finally understood what we were trying to say and was very receptive to our advice of putting up a sign that says to wait outside the restaurant and not in the car. After our frustration was aired out, we finally started eating. The fish was fresh and one of my favorites were the scallops and the salmon. I was let down when they didn't have uni where I seen the foodies on YouTube saying that they had. But then again, it's a seasonal item. We probably ate a little less than 25 plates and every so many plates you dispose, you can get a prize which is pretty cool. So when you put your name on the list, make sure the text message option is up and running.

Yelp
We had an amazing visit to Kura because of the manager Christian! We have been coming to this location for more than 9 years and I think this visit was one of the best!

Yelp

Yelp
I'm an avid Japanese foodie, I travel to eat and try different Japanese food esp sushi. I came across a you tube video of this joint in a Japan while I was in San Diego a week ago so I decided to check it. The fish choices were limited and the slices of fish in the nigiri was so thin. I'm quite disappointed. Service was not bad. The good thing is they serve fresh wasabi!

Yelp
It was our first time here. I brought my teen son and his 2 friends. We all loved it! The system is very easy, the portions are perfect and the food is delicious!! Our only issue was that the edamame was cold and unsalted. Not sure if that's how they serve it or if it was off. Highly recommend making a reservation because it was an hour wait for those who didn't make one. The guy handling the seating was great and efficient. Highly recommend this place for those who like sushi and want to have a fun dining experience. Great for all ages!!

Yelp
Great selection of sushi , desserts and drinks. Parking in the parking lot is crazy. I made a reservation and wasn't seated until about 20-30 mins later. The establishment is busy!! Once we seated we had an amazing time! Food was fresh, staff was attentive and helpful. cozy inside

Yelp
Kura is one of the two of the only revolving sushi bars in San Diego. It's been years since I've last dined here but they have changed in many ways! Compared to their opening I noticed an app has been added to add yourself on the waitlist, the removal of the different colored plates to indicate the price, and new menu items. The wait times have remained extremely long, we found ourselves being the last diners when putting our names down at 8pm to finishing at 10:45! Such a late dinner! I will say their strong suit are their nigiris. Their salmon and scallop choices are good quality too. Their handrolls are freezing cold which made them a little uneasy to eat. Wasabi is fresh and not the paste you typically get at sushi restaurants. I don't feel like the entree sized items were worth trying, however, I like the various options to choose from! Every plate is now 3.70, which I feel is a decent price but definitely a markup from a few years ago. Ordering from the touch screen made our process easier than grabbing items from the belt which were either empty or took a long time to come around. It was somewhat a nice feeling to return to Kura, however, I'm reminded of why I only come every few years. The wait times and planning to eat here is not the easiest! But the experience is fun and unique compared to dining at a typical sushi restaurant!

Yelp
I know parking is not on this restaurant, but damn this plaza is sooo busy. I circled around a few times before I found a space. Just FYI The staff refuse to sit your party until everyone's there, this makes sense but the restaurant wasn't full so we we're hoping they could sit us 2 (still waiting for our 3rd friend to show up). Once our 3rd came, we were sat about 5 mins later. They explained the menu & how to order. The fish tasted good! Particularly the salmon sashimi (order only), the fish tastes a lot fresher and fattier than the nigiris. For the rolls: I recommend the (regular) dragon roll, red dragon roll, and the eel hand roll (order). We didn't know we could still get prizes for the dishes we insert at 12-15? And second prize would be 30?? We made it to 25... The sushi keychain was cute. A cute shrimp tempura udon bowl?

Yelp
This is only based on the walk in/app resp system. My family of 2 young children and I were on holidays in the area. I was so looking forward to bringing my boys to conveyor belt sushi for a core memory dining experience. I knew ahead of time there would be a wait and was prepared to download the app. While I was in my home country, I couldn't download the app due to regional available. Okay.. we were far away. But when we landed at the airport, I stil could not download the app to make a reso. I called the restaurant to see if they could manually enter us into the waitlist because of our circumstances but they wouldn't help. We drove there abyways to check and by the time we got to the front door, the wait was 2 hours so we left.

Yelp
Fun experience. Came for lunch on a Friday and only waited 5 minutes. Good selection and items can be made to order if you don't want to wait for it to come around. Food quality is decent, I'd come back.

Yelp
I couldn't believe that we had 34 plates at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar in San Diego last weekend. It was a satisfying and delicious revolving sushi lunch before heading back to LA. Every 15 dishes can get one gotcha, and we got 2! My daughters like it a lot. The sushi quality was very fresh and top-notch. It was much better than the one in Brea. It recalls our memories when we were in Japan. We got there at around 11-ish last Sunday, and lucky that we only waited about 10 minutes, then we were seated. The server first showed you how to grab your plates from the revolving belt because it was a little bit tricky. You can also place an order through the touchscreen on your table. I also downloaded their app to get the points. Each sushi plate on the revolving belt costs $3.80. Our bill was about $150, but it was worth the price.

Yelp
We've been to many Kura locations and this one was great. The sushi was made better, the rice was warm, and the hand rolls were large and generously stuffed. Service was also more kind and attentive here. Not sure when Kura changed their free gifts but they now come in these compostable-looking pods vs. the plastic ones.

Yelp
Food was good but made a reservation and still had to wait 45 minutes,it's just a joke at this point

Yelp
Short and Sweet! Clean, friendly atmosphere within the ICONIC Convoy restaurant Area. You won't regret this one. Highly recommended for quality and taste. I lived in Japan for years, this was a popular choice to experience many different types of Oriental dishes in personal, manageable portions. Lots of staff catering to your every whim, their attention to detail was amazing! Prices were comparable to the displayed items available! If you didn't see what you liked, ask the waiter(tress). They try to accommodate your wishes! A great place to share with family and friends! 5 's! Prices are reasonable! Lots is choices.

Yelp
My first time going to Kura revolving sushi bar and absolutely loved it! The prices were reasonable, the service was fast, and everything was super delicious. The only problem was the line was very long, we had to wait one hour to get in on a Tuesday evening, but it was totally worth it. They had a variety of sushi options to choose from, and it was a fun night out. Highly recommended it.
