Kura Revolving Sushi Bar

First time going. I actually went to try the taiyaki ice cream and was not disappointed. It must be super popular cause it was super crowded. Pretty simple instructions on how to order and I loved the experience. Plus the handy button to get service at your table if needed. Oh! The funniest part was when they yell, “Irasshaimase!”when you get to your table.

Great food and reasonable prices. Plates are *usually* $3.99/each and have 2-4 pieces on them. It was fun inserting our empty plates to win a prize. The drink delivery robot was very neat, but it would have been nice to have a human see if we were doing okay during our experience. All in all a great value. We paid $75 (including tip) for 16 plates. BE SURE TO TRY THE BUFFALO POPCORN SHRIMP ROLL!!! IT IS INCREDIBLE!!!

Ramen and sushi selection is pretty good and worth a try. Definitely would recommend trying if you've never been to a revolving sushi place before. Service wasn't so great, but that doesnt really matter in places like this tbh. The fried chicken appetizer never disappoints. Overall a 4/5 experience that I've come back to multiple times without being disappointed.

Always a unique and enjoyable experience! You’re not getting the best value for prices to the quality of the sushi (it’s like $3.50 a plate or so, some better value than others), but you’re paying for the fun genuine imported gatcha/machines and conveyor experience. Anytime I have people visit I take them here and they enjoy it! They also have collabs every now and then with unique nice merch, I have some anime hand towels/chopsticks/etc from here that are awesome. Their hot house sake is nice too and pairs well with their meal. They recently upped variety a lot, it’s a great place to try a bunch of different fish without getting full orders. Also recommend the inari, personal fave for me. They have some desserts ramen and hand rolls and such you can order separate from the conveyor.

I love sushi, but I've never been here so decided to give it a try and it was really interesting. Ive never seen a conveyor belt restaurant. My girlfriend and I came here and were seated right away. This place is not hard to figure out and they have instructions if you have trouble. The sushi itself was average, we had more than a few different plates from the rotation. All in all the food was good but not out of this world..... but the atmosphere was fun and different. If you like sushi and wanna try something that you've never seen give this place a try at least once.

We did online reservation for 6pm. We got there 5:50 pm. There was a lot of people waiting. We didn't get seated until 6:40 pm despite having a reservation. So i suggest getting a reservation, otherwise it'll be a longer wait for a table. There are seats for individuals and tables for 4. $3.95 per plate. There's 1-4 pcs of sushi. Depending on how expensive the ingredient is (uni, snow crab, wagyu had 1 pc/plate. Crunchy rolls had 3-4 pcs/plate) Food was good and fresh. Lots of variety on the conveyor belt. Theres 1-4 plates per variety running on the conveyor. If you dont see what you want, you can order via the tablet or through your phone. Toy Gachapon prizes fall down every 15 plates or so. We went durong hello kitty and friends collab. So we got sanrio magnets and badge reel. And you're supposed to get a hand towel when you reach $85. They didn't give us a towel even though our bill was more than a $100 :(

My daughter and I wanted sushi so she chose Kura. She had recently traveled to Las Vegas and said she ate at a sushi bar with this same concept. The sushi was decent, not the best I’ve ever had but if you’re looking for a place to have sushi with a causal family friendly atmosphere this is the place. The menu is featured on kiosks next to the table. You may op to order from the menu, which provides details of the type of sushi and the calorie intake (which I really liked). There are also a variety of sushi’s and desserts that spin around on the revolving sushi bar. You have the option to choose from there. Although the revolving bar is cold I personally didn’t feel comfortable not knowing how long they were on there. My daughter took a coupe of sushi items and dessert from the revolving bar and what she chose she liked. I will say it’s an ingenious concept and everything I ordered I did enjoy. I wouldn’t mind returning.

This is a very fun place. The rotating conveyor belt with little plates of sushi and sides to the robot waiter serving drinks were all cool. Watch out he's slow but gets his job done. All the food was great. I will definitely come back again.

Quick and easy place for lunch. We really liked the seared items, the negitoro, and the bluefin Toro. For items that didn't appear to be refilled on the belt, we just placed on the screen above our seats and they came out super fast! Only thing we wish is that they had more variety in the items that were on the belt, and we wished that they would have refilled the items faster. I really wanted to try the American wagyu, but it never got refilled and I didn't see it on the screen. Same thing with the yellowtail. the floors were also extremely sticky for some reason? We ended up eating 17 plates and ordered soft sbell crab, so our total was $70. I joined the rewards program and got $10 off my next meal, which is cool!

Super quick and easy option for a late weekday lunch (when there's no wait), but definitely way more fun to go with friends in a group. Conveyor belt sushi concept that is entertainment and dining in one, but they also have an extensive menu that you can specially order from and have those dishes zip directly to you. Pretty self-explanatory, grab plates as they go by based on what looks/sounds good to you, enjoy, slide the plates down the chute in front of you, pay per plate. I like that there's the option to dine, order, and pay independently. There really are options for everyone. Quality is good but it's not going to be the best sushi you can find in the area. My favorites are toro, negitoro, yuzu jalapeño tuna, seared scallops, and ordering the fish ice cream dessert (so good). They have rotating specials, and a rewards app as well if you are a frequent visitor. Think I slightly prefer the Novi location over Troy.

I love Kura Sushi, and I've even had the chance to visit the flagship store in Japan. The conveyor belt sushi concept is fun and engaging for all ages, making it a unique dining experience. Plus, the more you eat, the better your chances of winning a prize--what's not to love?

This is one of the best sushi places in Michigan! I could go there everyday if I wanted them to have all of my money.

I'm a frequent customer at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar, and I liked it because it's convenient ordering on the app as well as in person when you're not feeling the most social. The past few times with online orders has been iffy for me. I ordered on the app/website, and its been taking longer to get ready. Today for instance, I ordered around 7:30pm and the order was supposed to be done by 8:30pm. It's currently 9:24pm and I just got my order. I understand that the kitchen can be backed up but I placed it in advance. It shouldn't take an hour after the stated pickup time for me to pick up my order. If its like 20 min extra I would understand, but it shouldn't take 2 hours after ordering. I'm disappointed that the food took so long. Hopefully that will be improved in the future.

Very cool place to try out various sushi without breaking the bank. I always loved the interactive concept of conveyer belt sushi. They had a good variety of plates come out at a very good pace. Service was great. Was our first time at this location and they explained how everything worked. They even have robot servers for the drinks! There are also hot menu items which we tried as well. Definitely will coming back.

After a while you will realized that they don't put a lot of ingredients in the sushi. The shape and size is also not very nice. They serve a lot of sushi with cooked fish, I think it is because their fish is not very fresh. Cooked fish like seared salmon is good though. It is still a cool experience to come but to get a good value and quality, you have to go to a sushi restaurant or Japanese grocery store like one world or Noble fish.

I love the sushi, hand rolls and noodles they have. I'm come here once a week. I enjoy the hand rolls a lot. The price did go up I noticed. The service is okay.

Reminds me of the ones in Japan! I live the conveyor belt with dishes of food items you take off the conveyor belt. At the end the plates are tallied for your total There's an option to order from the menu as well. I ate mostly salmon sushi and it was on par woth other buffets I've been to. I ordered the fried gyoza but didn't think it was anything special.

My son took me here for my birthday as a "unique experience ". That is was! I might have to try this place again to give it a real chance! So supposedly sushi and other food goes by on a revolving conveyor belt - the reason I say supposedly is because most of the food containers were empty. It was very crowded in the restaurant at this point, so I'm wondering if the food was being grabbed before it got to us or if they were short staffed or what the problem was. My son happened to know that you can also custom order some items from the menu on the screen. (Limited ordering options which he said changes each time you come). When you order off the menu, that gets sent to you from a top conveyor belt and it came out I believe faster than if we had sat there waiting for food to come. It starts out with the waitress asking if you want beverages and if you want the spicy mayo and some other dipping sauce, which, if you order it, - it gets delivered by a robot that plays very loud music. The sushi options we had were OK nothing outstanding, which is why I also had given it the three stars Since my son paid for this, I'm not quite sure how the pricing worked. I know you get charged according to how many plates you discard into a dish dispensary, which counts the number of plates and charges you like that.

YESSSit was fun love the gacha stuff great desert as well love seafood myself and this is top tier felt like I was in Japan love the robot servers lol great food going with anyone that enjoys Japan or seafood will have a blast just as I did with my stepdad only been too times as I am not always in Troy area but was great a great after anything snack it's great and kind front desk worker it was beautiful and Fun YUMMY FOOD TOO

Dining at Kura is just so much fun. The food is pretty good, but the real highlight is the experience. At Kura, you don't really have to interact with the staff after you're seated. Instead, you order your drinks on a screen and they're brought to you by a robot (yes, really!) The sushi moves around the whole restaurant on a conveyor belt, served in these cute little plates. You get to pick whatever you want and then you pop your plate into a slot to keep track of them and even win prizes. If you're craving something specific, you can order it on the screen too. This place would be perfect for a fun outing with friends, but it's also a place I'd feel comfortable enough eating alone at, too. My top picks would have to be the golden crunchy roll, the popcorn shrimp roll, the spicy salmon crunchy hand roll, and the salmon toro. Before you go, make sure you have the app downloaded and check the waitlist times. When I first discovered this place, the waitlist was crazy long, like a few hours, but now, it's much more manageable. If you're up for trying something new and having a blast while doing it, Kura is the place to be. It's low commitment, high fun, and definitely worth a visit.

I was craving sushi so I decided to try Kura. I thought what a great concept a revolving Shushi bar. I was a little disappointed. The Shushi was just okay. The Shushi we wanted to try was never available on the revolver. It was empty because everyone else before us were grabbing the Shushi we wanted to try. We tried to order on electronic menu but the Shushi we wanted on the revolver was not on menu. No staff around to ask questions because everything is electronic. We ended up leaving and going somewhere else to eat.

Food was not fresh. Sushi looked like at least couple hours on the revolving belt. Color of fish looked not fresh. Service was very poor. The waiter did not show up until I called them by pushing a call button. They did not even serve a glass of water and I had to ask for it. Quite frankly, it was the worst experience I had at the Japanese restaurants.

Me and my friend have been going to Kura Sushi for a while. I've gone with friends and even family sometimes whenever anyone is craving sushi. While there are remotely better and cheaper sushi places to go to (as each plate of sushi is $3.50), you come here for the ambiance and the opportunity to try revolving sushi, sometimes even their collabs that they have with Anime series. Their most recent collab is DBZ. When I went to this location in particular before, the ramen was extremely oily, so my partner and I assumed that was just a bad time, but this time, the food was pretty good in my opinion, however, my friend that I came with thinks it was sub-par. Probably the only reason why there is a star at all. The staff is the problem here. They are rude, arrogant and very unprofessional. There was a server who me and my friend were interacting with during checkout because it we had asked for refills, but nobody gave us them even after we asked twice. This staff member was a male with glasses, dark brunette hair, with a large build who covered his name when I went to glance at his name tag. When we asked for the extra drinks and it was 10 minutes after that we had not received them, we asked again, and nothing, we then proceeded to order them from the menu because there was no clear way to figure out how to get refills. When we asked for a box to take home because I bought a lot of food and couldn't finish it, the server who gave it to us slammed it onto the table and it made my friend jump up from the sheer loud noise it created coming into contact with the table. When it came time to checkout, my friend and I forgot to bring up that we ordered extra drinks and have them changed to being refills. We remembered after our cards were processed and noticed the extra $10 on the bill from drinks. My friend and I immediately called the server and the male server told us, "No. We can't fix it." I looked at him and said, "excuse me? What?" And he proceeded to create a sob story saying that they can't fix the charge to our card. I told him, so there's nothing we could do to fix this? And he replied, "no" unless we wanted to speak to his manager. So we said, "yes, I would like to speak to your manager. Right now." Then he proceeded to be extremely rude to us and made us wait over 40 minutes to fix the issue. We never spoke to a manager and nobody approached our table when we were sitting there the entire time waiting for someone to come and help us sort it out. Eventually, a waitress (or the manager? I don't know as she didn't introduce herself as the manager) named Jess came and fixed everything for us, but she also had an attitude issue. We were being friendly and she was just grumpy and plain rude. Honestly, probably will only start going to the Novi location because the one in Troy, the servers, are just assholes. TLDR: Food is really great, however the attitude from the staff was the reason for the one star review.

This was my first time going to the Troy location. It's a bit larger than Novi, which seemed to keep the wait down a bit. Delicious and fun as always. As an engineer, I get way too much entertainment out of the whole operation. Kura runs like a well-oiled sushi machine. Everything is always delicious and you simply can't go wrong with a drink delivering robot.

Fun experience - different - food was good enough for fast food sushi - I'd go again for sure - great place for a quick lunch as there really aren't any waiting times because you can immediately pull/order your food from the conveyor belt. If you haven't tried it, it's worth a stop.

I love revolving sushi restaurants (fun to watch it go by), I used to go to one in NYC all the time. This experience was slightly different; the wait time was beyond ridiculous (55-88 minutes), and the service could have been better. We waited 20 minutes for a drink refill, and a staff member cleaning the table nearby assisted us. The sushi is good but not to die for. I liked the concept of ordering your sushi if you do not see it on the conveyor belt. It is a fun place to go with friends and family members. For the experience, I would recommend friends, coworkers, or family members to try this place out.

We made reservations which I would highly recommend, otherwise the wait could be LONG depending on time of day! It's a small place, tiny booths. Service was fine. Some of the food on the conveyor belt seemed like it may have been there for a minute. Depending where you get placed, will depend on food choices, more tables around the same area, you may be waiting for items to try. On our second visit, we learned to order Off the menu more! It was definitely a fun experience for people willing to try new food items!!

Not only is the sushi super tasty, but it is so fun! I recommend making reservations, it gets very busy!

The concept is really cool and it was nice to see metro-Detroit finally get a revolving sushi bar since most major cities have them. The design of the space was pretty standard to others-the conveyor belt wraps around the entire restaurants and through all seating. They also have a cute little robot server that brings your drinks to you so that was pretty cool to see. The staff here were nice and attentive. The food off the conveyor, however, could use a lot of work. Everything tasted bland and the presentation of a lot of the dishes looked really bad. The sushi was falling apart, the dishes looked like they had been sitting for hours, and the overall quality of the food was not up to par with other similar restaurants I've visited. I also ordered taiyaki fish as a dessert and it wasn't what I expected at all- it tasted more like a donut drenched in oil with a heap of ice cream on it. My overall experience was disappointing.

The quality of food here is so good so 5 stars just for that. I come here all the time and sometimes by myself just because I love it. When it first opened I didn't have high hopes for the sushi cause I thought it'd be gimmicky but it's probs the best for raw fish in the area. I always get the salmon toro cause I can't find it anywhere else. It's my favorite thing, it's salmon belly so salmon but even fattier. I went with 3 friends and we ate like 7 plates of it. The wait times can be long but I usually just try to go at off times like 3pm on a Thursday or something lmao it's worth it for me. The ambiance is kinda average like the vibes are only alright but the food makes it up for me. Also the robot waiter is so cute.

Went to Kura for the first time today and it did not disappoint! It was a fun experience to have all the sushi roll past you and choose what you eat. Pretty inexpensive at $3.55 a plate. We sat at the bar and it was really fun to face all of the sushi. I also loved the little robot that would bring you drinks. Super tech-y place on the inside, felt like sitting in the future! Chairs were comfy and the place was very clean. When we ordered food, it came out quickly and was always fresh. The only reason I rated it 4 stars is because we have been trying to go to this place for MONTHS now. Every time we go, there is a 3-4 hour wait. I think that is a testament to how fun of an experience it is, but I wish I could go without having to find an odd time on a weekday to dine out. It is a small place inside, so I understand having limited seating, but I wish there was a way to check in online so we could have a spot by the time we get there.

The experience is good with the rotating food but damn the staff is super slow for no reason. There are people waiting and all these table not clean. I'm watching staff clean tables very slowly and talking to each other knowing that there are people waiting. What else are you doing back there? It's already self serve so the staff isn't doing anything back there.

I love a good rotary sushi spot, so I was excited to try Kura. We had read there can be a long wait so decided to go a little later on a Wednesday evening. The benefit of this was that we were seated right away, but the disadvantage was there weren't many plates being replenished on the belt. I assume because as they're winding down for the night, the food would go to waste. But it made for a little less fun of an experience. Off the belt I was able to try: the seared scallop nigiri and albacore nigiri. However, we mostly used the ordering system for our other dishes. My favorites of the night being the red snapper with yuzu pepper nigiri, and the caterpillar roll. They came shooting out of the kitchen on the top rotary belt, which was cool. In addition, Kura also has a super cute robot that delivers drinks (like water) to the table, equipped with happy music and all. That robot was probably my favorite part. Glad we tried - not sure I'd go back. I don't really like cream cheese or mayo with my sushi, so most of the rolls offered were not to my taste.

I was super impressed with this place. They recommended downloading their app and going on the wait list which I did. I put my time and how many on the app in at 6:30 PM and we didn't get seated until 9:45 PM which they told us on the app. So we ran some errands and had a late dinner. Everything we ordered was delicious right to our table and it was an excellent experience!!! It's definitely an experience you gotta experience at least once!

Been here twice now. The first experience was better than the latter, maybe because of the novelty or maybe there was more variety last time so I was able to find more things I liked. Note we came in around 2pm on a Thursday and there were just a few customers in there with us. So if you don't want a wait, there's your opportunity. Here's what I ordered today and whether it was worth it to order again: - Inari: worth it. A classic. - Crab and crispy rice: Consistent and worth it. - Salmon with miso cream cheese: I liked this one, had a nice sear on the fish and the cream cheese added a nice richness - worth it. - Salmon yukhoe: worth it to try but I'm not sure I'd get it again. I was expecting a runny yolk but it was fully cooked. - Spicy garlic tempura Philadelphia roll: Not worth it. Nothing outstanding about it and you would be better served saving room for something else. - Japanese mayo seared scallops. Worth it if you like the texture of scallops. - Garlic skipjack tuna: Definitely not worth it. The fish had a weird texture and flavor I did not expect. - Sesame balls: Normally I really like these but this order was undercooked. Had they been cooked properly they'd be decent. - Taiyaki ice cream: This is a must-get every time. It's the best thing in the menu. They had a sign out in rotation for takoyaki but none ever came out and it wasn't on the menu. Bummer. I'll probably be back to Kura again in a year or so, when the drive for conveyor belt sushi strikes again. (Can we please get more of these in general?! They are one of my favorite things on Earth and Troy is a bit of a hike!)

great sushi selection in an unbeatably upbeat atmosphere! The revolving sushi feature is such a fun novelty that never gets old. This is a great place to take friends, and if it's your birthday, the robot server will sing you a b-day song! Wait times can be long depending on the time and day, and the restaurant itself is fairly small, so come prepared to wait at least a few minutes for a table. You can also use their app to reserve a spot in line. I very much enjoy my experience every time i come here, and i feel they have plenty of options for vegetarians including tofu and egg.

I have to say I usually would give this place a five-star rating, but they encourage you to get sushi someplace else, hence the 3-star rating. It is excellent with the robot that brings your drinks and how you can order on the touch screen, and it shoots out in front of you; you can also grab stuff off the conveyor belt, which is super cool! However, what I like to refer to as a dick move is they will turn off the online check-in. Why? I will not drive there and check in when it says a 285-minute wait. I am going to go someplace else like I have done several times. Why do they do this? I don't mind waiting, but I will not drive there to check it and wait for 2 hours. It seems stupid to me. Why are they doing this? I would love to come back for the 3rd time, but I will not wait for 3 hours.

This restaurant is really fun! There's a huge conveyor belt that goes all around the restaurant. Dishes are all $3.50 on the belt so just grab off the conveyor belt to enjoy. There's robots who bring you drinks - so cute! It's cold so bring a sweater! You can also order a la cart from the iPad for specific items if you don't wanna wait for the conveyor belt to come around. The food quality was generally good, but there's a few things they had on display that ended up being out and we weren't told they were unavailable so after we placed order on the iPad, we waited 15 minutes and then we only realized they were out when we checked our bill. Would've been nice to get an advanced notice! Fun restaurant to check out once but the price is quite high generally speaking, the food a la cart was slower to come and we didn't get any notice if our order was unavailable, and was quite cold.

Been to many, many different Kura Sushi franchises in various states, this is the first time I was bothered by the rotting smell coming from the dish dispenser. While sitting near the conveyor belt (and close to where you drop dishes off), there's an awful, rotting smell emanating from the area, and quite frankly it was absolutely disturbing, especially when you're having raw foods. Quality wise it's subpar compared to others I've been to: the tempura shrimp were semi-warm and too heavily battered. Kitsune udon soup had too much sugar in it, was like drinking warm, sweet dashi soup. Overall I'm pretty disappointed with the experience but will continue to visit other Kura places.

This place is SO MUCH FUN!!! If you've never experienced revolving sushi, you gotta try it once before you die But seriously - the food is delicious and the high-tech robot that serves drinks and condiments is enough for us to return over and over again. My daughter has begged for us to visit this place since we moved here, and I'm so glad we finally did! Check-in was a breeze with their app (highly suggest downloading it beforehand and getting on the waitlist while you head over). I put us on the waitlist and from the time we left our house to Kura, there was barely any wait time. It tells you your approximate wait time and has a 15 min courtesy window in case you're running late. Super convenient! We were seated immediately and our server explained some instructions and took our drink orders. We ordered a couple things off the main menu (which were delivered via the top conveyer belt right to our table) and proceeded to take things off the main conveyer belt. Side note - picking the plates off the belt is a little tricky at first! My daughter started a slight traffic jam in the beginning but we caught on fairly quickly. Surprisingly, the sushi was delicious! Literally everything we picked was fresh and just melt in your mouth tasty. My daughter ordered the beef udon and my husband got the beef bowl - all tasty. The edamame was a bit cold and bland. But the sushi - wow! So good and I loved that there were little pictures and explanations of what each plate was. Super helpful for picky eaters. We finished off with 26 plates! After every 30 plates a little prize comes down the chute above. My daughter wanted to shoot for 30 but we were stuffed. Next time for sure! There is a little robot that makes its rounds to bring drinks and wasabi/ginger which was definitely a hit with the kids. It was definitely a wonderful experience and we will totally be back!

I've never been to a revolving sushi bar, but heard it's big overseas. When they opened one here, I thought huh, how's that going to work? I noticed a few of my friends went and checked it out, but up until today, just never wandered in. My friend finally dragged me here, and I'm mostly glad I went. I get the concept here, revolving sushi, take what you want, and I like it in general. I think it's a great way to try stuff out and see if you like it instead of ordering an entire roll at a "regular" sushi spot. Walking in can be a bit overwhelming, as I don't have the app on my phone, but you can check in with the host or put your information in to the tablet provided on a stand near the door. There was only 2 people ahead of us, and my friend put the app on her phone already, so we were good to go with that. Our "server" and I use that term loosely, came over to our table and explained how it worked. You can grab stuff off the conveyer belt, put the plate in the slot and that's how they keep track of what you order. Most items are $3.55 and their usually 3 slices of sushi. They also a great variety of items to choose from, so I got to try not only some of my favorites, but one or two new things as well. There's a computer screen up above, but it was hard to read for me and if you're sitting in a group of 4, the outside people can't get to the screen. You can order soup, Ramen, drinks and a many other dishes through the monitor. Super cool! I loved it. If you order a specialty sushi, the monitor dings and the dish comes out like George Jetson and you grab it off the conveyor belt on the top section. Ok, so here's where I docked a star. First, I ordered Miso and it didn't taste very good. it was the broth, really. I can't explain it, but it just wasn't good, and I couldn't finish it. Secondly, the conveyor belt spent most of the time empty. Not that I was looking to grab every single thing that came through, but there were long stretches of times where it just spun around with nothing on it. Then, it would have one good round, and go empty again. Yes, I know people could have been grabbing stuff, but I don't think the staff was refilling it as fast as it was getting taken. Also, they have robots that deliver the drinks to your table. I've seen them before at another Asian restaurant, and it's cool to see them here as well. One table sitting behind us ordered drinks and didn't realize the robot delivery was for them. The robot left and came back, and then they finally realized their drinks were on the tray! Anyway, I really liked it here, and would go again in the future. Just no miso soup next time!

Overall, this was a cool experience but the wait time to get in was very long. I came here on a random weeknight and was hoping to get a quick table. Turns out that you can do reservations online which is how many people registered and got tables much sooner than I did. Also, the kitchen was short staffed that night so they did close about half of the restaurant tables to ensure service. While I appreciate the attempt to not overwhelm that kitchen staff, the front of house people shouldn't tell people the wait is 10-20 min when I waited well over an hour to get a table. Overall the place was very cute and everything was very clean! The food and sushi was very ok, nothing amazing. I would come here for the experience but not necessarily the food. Went on a Friday night. Estimated wait time was 55-80 minutes. We actually waited 85-90 minutes for a party of 3 (2 adults, 1 baby). Ordered a beef udon for the baby ($9.50), Hamachi Kama/grilled fish ($7-8 ish), and some sushi items ($3.55 each). Udon is terrible. Very salty broth, 2 single pieces of meat, served in a small kid-sized bowl. Sushi items sound like a good deal, but the fish quality is mediocre and all sliced very thin. Hamachi Kama is probably the best out of everything we ordered, freshly cooked, but nothing amazing. It also doesn't taste grilled, more like deep fried so it's very greasy. The environment however is very nice. Understandable that people would want to come to experience the concept of revolving sushi. But if you are actually looking for good food, any Japanese restaurant is better. Summary: Very mediocre food. Overpriced. Very long wait time. Cool environment/concept.

I've been here several times and absolutely love the experience. My friends and I love sushi, and Kura is amazing. Each time we've been lucky to arrive for lunch before those looonggg wait times start. The concept of getting your food via the conveyor belt is unique for me, but I immediately warmed to it. Each dish was great but my favorite is the bluefin toro. It's limited so get it whenever you have the chance. Don't let the long wait deter you. It's worth it.

Great fresh sushi for reasonable prices.staff we're friendly and helpful. Being a Japanese I have been to Kura in Tokyo and I would say the atmosphere was same as ones in japan. It brought me back memories in Japan. Only complaint is that I feel like a lot of nigiri menu were sold out. I wanted to try many kind of sushi but it was somehow limited when I was there. I got ramen as well and ramen wasn't tasty at all. Soup broth tasted like too much fish stock flavors , almost tasted like the soup for udon noodles. I appreciated they offer good quality wasabi which looked like freshly grated. Robot brings beverages which was cool and entertaining too. Also Rice were perfectly cooked. Soft shell crab was ok , it tasted too fishy. Over all this is good restaurant for family and I would definitely come back again.

Delicious! We were seated quickly and the food was very good. We enjoyed most things off the belt, but enjoyed ordering some of our favorites.

The buffet plates are not replenished with enough frequency. A lot of empty plates keep going around and around. All of the fresh real crab cali rolls, fresh crab roll and the crab hand rolls were all good. The crunchy is okay. The spicy tiger shrimp was okay. The sesame balls and taiyaki are both pretty good. Nice crusty exterior. The ramen was so-so. Have to wait for a server to give us our tally at the end. 14 plates and 3 extra items. Two staffers reminded us to put our plates down the chute to make sure they wet tallied. We had just finished the plates seconds before being reminded to out them down the chute. It's convenient for sure. Order as you go. The food is warm, fresh and only takes about 2 minutes for each item to come out on the second shelf and comes right to you. 14 sushi plates, ramen, taiyaki and miso soup. $64.45.

It's fun and different and the place is bright and airy. Not the best sushi you'll ever eat, not the worst either...you go for the experience for sure. There are a couple of items I always like from them...the spider hand roll and anything with ikura. I also like their snacks and small hot food items. You can certainly order off the menu if you don't see what you want coming through on the conveyor belt. And of course, they try to get you to eat more with their little prizes - which apparently you can also order and buy now if they're doing a special feature. Service is what it is, they have a little robot bring around beverages and the front of house staff are lean...more people are in the back keeping the rotating plates filled. I think I'll go back every once in a blue moon ... the little plates add up quickly though!

The food was okay although there were several gaps on the conveyor belt where the containers were empty. The service was barely adequate. Our server was put out when we requested napkins. None were included with our set-up. The reason for the one star (it would have been zero if Yelp allowed, was the noise level. The "background" music was deafening. It was impossible to carry on a conversation. If you are not speaking with your friends or family this would be a great place to go so you would have an excuse to not talk. The experience was the worst. It is difficult to convey just how bad it was. They should be reported for endangering their customers health (hearing, headaches, etc.) We have gone here several times in the past without issues. But after this experience I doubt we will be back. And BTW, no paper towels in the men's room. You've been warned!

My girlfriend and I tried Kura for lunch on a Monday. We got there not long after open and were seated right away. I think that's definitely an exception though, since every table was full 10 minutes later. Be prepared for a wait. The conveyor belt was a neat way to get your food. The custom orders came out quick and accurate. The little robot that delivered the drinks was very amusing. The food was delicious. Each plate is 1 or 2 pieces for at least $3.50, which gives you the opportunity to get everything all the same, or try multiple different menu items. All in all, a worthwhile experience. A couple cons. The menu is suspended above eye level, which makes it a little hard to use for custom orders. We had to ask for water and napkins. Most importantly, it can get VERY expensive very quickly. 4 plates will get you a standard sushi roll (8 pieces) and it will cost $28. Pay attention to the cost of certain items, as they're higher than the $3.50 baseline. Our lunch came to $70 with no alcohol. Despite the price point being a little high, it's a very cool concept. It would be nice if the menu kept a running total of the bill and not just the number of plates consumed. Will definitely try it again.

What a fun dining experience! Finally had the chance to meet a friend for dinner here and can't wait to go back. Everything was so fresh and flavorful, love that you can also order additional items directly from your table's screen and have it sent right to you! Highly recommend for a fun night out

This is a fun place seemingly designed for families. The sushi was rolled okay, and the flavors were tasty but it's mostly about the experience. Getting sushi on a conveyor belt, drink service from a robot, and trying new combinations are what made it worthwhile. The service was top notch though we special ordered a sushi taco that took 20 minutes to be made.

I had been wanting to go here for FOREVER, and an Ann Arbor friend and I finally went today. I'm also on Kura's email list and they sent me a $5 off coupon, which was nice. I signed up on the app ahead of time, even though there was only a 3-minute wait (the Monday on Thanksgiving week ... I had heard on the weekends it sometimes has 2- or 3-hour waits). When we arrived, there didn't seem to be a host/hostess, but finally someone showed up, and I told him I had checked in on the app. He found my name on his list and we were seated immediately. Otherwise, you sign in on a tablet when you arrive. They have both booths and like a little bar area, we opted for a booth. The conveyor belt concept is VERY cool - you can either order from the touchscreen at your booth, or take whatever you want from what comes by. In total we had 20 dishes (including some desserts) and two desserts, plus a hot tea, and the bill would have been about $80 before the $5 off coupon. I was expecting to spend about $30-50 per person though; with tip, my final bill was about $44 just for myself. This place was pretty awesome overall. The only dishes my friend and I both disliked were one dish with a mayo on top of the sushi; a Jello-esque dessert; and I think maybe one other thing. Other than that everything was pretty tasty. Favorites were actually the beef sushi (yes, you read that right; topped with beef!), the Taiyaki (sp?) dessert, aka the fish you see on here, which tasted like carnival food; and the strawberry and matcha mochi. I still want to know how they get the touchscreen orders to come directly to your table, too! So cool. I'll definitely be back to Kura again at some point, too.

Definitely. He kin when you get here, otherwise your wait will be even longer! Got here st a little after 5pm, wait time was supposed to be 20 mins, wound up being 40 mins, so be warned! First time having revolving sushi, and I wasn't disappointed! What a fun experience! Love that tour table-side machine counts your plates when you're done eating off of them; love that you can order particular dishes and they slide down a special shelf right to your table--eating made soup much fun! My favorite was the Golden Crunch Roll, it there wasn't anything I didn't enjoy! Definitely recommend fans of sushi try this place out--it's not high end sushi, but it's a fun experience. My only complaint was waitstaff needs to check in more, especially since they bring such small portions of wasabi, we also had to flag them down for more of that and tea.

Very interesting experience. I was very hungry but held off until the 2nd go round so i could grab what i wanted. The screen ahead gives a description of the contents. After 15 plates, a gift is dispensed. (I got a microfiber cloth, & a friend got a tetris piece magnet!) The place fills up fast, so it's better to have the app so you can sign in & see the wait time. I enjoyed this experience & plan on dining more in the future Aburi eel w/ miso cream cheese is the most amazing plate. Roe & spanish makrel were buttery.
