Some food choices lacked freshness and flavor, but lots of yummy options as well. Very cool robot that delivers drinks, all other food comes on conveyors with wait staff only needed for check and seating. Easy to use screen for ordering everything. Lots of variety in food options. Spicy ramen lacked flavor and vegetables/filling ingredients. Taiyaki ice cream is great!

Great spot to get that new experience for sushi and what Japan has been doing for years - if your one person your seating by yourself but it’s a great experience and I will go back! Prices very but good to fill up - $$$ but worth the price! Fresh fresh! I sat next to the chef and saw them making sushi and everything in between! Great staff and very nice and greets with the Japanese greeting when you come in - makes you feel welcome! Make sure to get your points! download the app and get familiar! But great prizes at 15 plates! Overall an awesome experience and will go back! Hope to have more locations in the DMV soon!

April 2024 Another kura sushi. The food quality is the same as other locations. That is, we come here for the experience and prizes, not the food. To make matters worse, they don't have the Hokkaido Milk Tart, which I believe is the best item on the Kura Sushi menu. Though the seared salmon is pretty good. The soft shelled crab and the snow crab are both terrible. Note the rice for the nigiri is not packed very well and falls apart easily. The service is a bit lacking compared to other places. I called them to see if they were open on Easter Sunday, and the call rung for 5 minutes before it was automatically dropped. In person, the staff are brisk and assume you've eaten there before. I saw some groups obviously new to Kura Sushi trying to figure things out on their own. HOW TO EAT AT A KURA SUSHI: First, the setup: mounted above your table/seat is a tablet where you can order drinks, appetizers, udon, ramen, dessert, and yes, sushi. Right below that is a one way conveyor belt where the kitchen directly delivers food that you order from the tablet to you. You can order sushi from the tablet if you don't want to wait for the communal conveyor belt. Soups come with a lid clipped onto the bowl and a soup spoon placed in a small bowl. Below that one way conveyor belt is the communal conveyor belt that runs through the whole restaurant. If you see something you want on the conveyor belt when it reaches your seat, just grab it off the belt. DO NOT put stuff back on the conveyor belt. That's disgusting and rude. Continuing the How To. On the table below the sushi belt are napkins, soy sauce, a box of ginger slices, and the plate slot! The plates you can insert are the blue sushi plates. Note that this includes sushi that you ordered from the tablet. Anything priced the same as sushi (here it's $3.55), comes with a plate you can insert. For every 5 plates you insert, your tablet will show a short video detailing the adventures of Mutenmaru as he defeats villains! Help him by inserting plates! For every 15 plates you insert, you get a free random prize! Note if your party of 2+ are sitting at the bar, you should insert your plates into 1 slot to get the prizes. You can also buy certain prizes from the tablet (not the rare items). They cost the same as a sushi plate. They are delivered from the kitchen on a plate, and you insert that plate into the slot. We first came here as a party of 6. The staff gave us the option of squeezing into 1 booth or giving us 2 booths that were across the aisle from each other. Of course we chose 2 booths (putting our plates into 1 slot). There was a group behind us that also got 2 booths. Parking here is a free large parking lot for the shopping center. Note that while the spots in front of Kura are usually full, there is plenty of parking in front of the Best Buy. There are two unisex bathrooms in the back. They were decently clean and dry. Most interesting, they have the toilets with warmed seats and that spray water. The controls are mounted on the wall next to the toilet. Overall, the location is more convenient for me than the DC location, but otherwise the food quality is the same (a little less because no tarts) and the service could be better.

My Godson chose this place for his birthday, and I was so curious as to know why? A six year old who wants Sushi? Well besides the good shushi, the experience is so much fun, with a robot who brings your drinks, automatic sushi belts with rotating plates, computer at your table to order your food, and games on the screen to play while you have your meal. This place was one of the closest versions of a restaurant if you would be in Japan, even the toilets are just like in Japan with heated seats & bidets. Out of all the dishes, the calamari was not upto the mark, and we sent it back. Overall it was an awesome meal and experience, and I look forward to going back soon. #nichasreviews #asianfood #dmvfoodie #dmveats #seafood #japanesefood #sushi #sushilovers

We arrived a little early for the dinner rush, and were able to be seated without a wait - if you have their app you can put your name in a little early. However, probably because we were seated near the end of the conveyor belt, most of the plates coming past us were empty. Luckily, it became more full as our meal went on, and you can order any plate from the touch screen menu directly to your table. The beverage-delivering robot was very cute! Expensive overall but not terrible for sushi. We'll definitely be going back again!

Google
Sushi’s good especially for a conveyor belt! Their bluefin toro is my favorite. Their hand rolls are also addicting. Food is pretty good but of course not expected to be amazing. Also, each plate is $3.50 each (so it can get expensive quick and not meant to be treated as all-you-can-eat) but you can also see the prices on the tablet/order screen where you can order sides, desserts, ramen, hand rolls, and the limited item foods that’s not on the conveyor belt! Ambiance is pretty chill. You can take your time eating and I love that after every 15 plates, you get a prize! It makes the experience fun and enticing. Service is pretty good as well. They try to keep your table as spacious as possible and very attentive. Highly recommended for the conveyor belt experience and their nigiris are fairly good!

Google
Enjoyed the conveyor belt feature. The quality was decent, but the price seemed to mismatch with the quality. Staff showed us how to pickup the plates and use the touch screen, but it took a long time for someone to brings water. We ordered 2 beers (12oz and 16oz), limited selection, and they brought us two 12oz; we showed them our order on the screen, and they came back timely with the right size. There were a lot of people waiting outside, and you have to use the checkin kiosk outside in order to get seated. Overall it was fun, but we will likely go back to our traditional sushi spots.

Google
Love the conveyor belt sushi concept. Also love all the various anime/game/pop culture collaborations gachapon prizes. The food is good, and if you don’t see what you want on the conveyor belt you can use the tablet to order what you want. A cute robot delivers your drinks. Can sit up to six people at a table or split the group between two tables. Watch the plates or it can get expensive.

Yelp
This was a fun experience for my family. Because we read the Yelp reviews in advance, it helped us manage our expectations in terms of the food, service, and cleanliness. We arrived for Sunday lunch. Online check-in at the tablet outside the door was easy and we were fortunate to not have a wait that rainy day. The service was friendly and prompt, and they helped walk us through how to order, deposit empty plates, and pay. The servers were prompt to assist when called and were regularly bussing and cleaning tables. While the food was ok, and the tables were a tad sticky, the entertainment value and novelty of the restaurant was pretty fun. We enjoyed watching the robot deliver drinks, and we had fun ordering food via the table kiosk and seeing the sushi come by on the conveyor belt. When we ate, we had to deposit 15 plates into the return bin to obtain a tiny prize. All in all, it was fun! We'd come back for sure.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to try this busy spot. It's been on my list for ages but the wait times are usually daunting. Showed up the second they opened on a Saturday and there were already quite a few people already eating. They seated me without an explanation of how things work. As they were seating others I heard them ask if they had ever dined before and to hit the button if they need help. So as I figured out for myself, you snag the plates right off the conveyor belt (lift up and the bubble will pop open). And when you're done, you feed the plate down a chute and pay based on how many plates you had. There is no service here, as you order drinks off a screen and grab your own food. I never once spoke to anyone or even had someone check in. Your paper trash just piles up on the table. A robo-waiter carries over your drinks (think a tall roomba). Not sure what a tip would be for.. the robot? The food quality is not great. The portions are skimpy to match mediocre buffet quality. The amount of ikura per piece was less than half a regular portion. They make up for it by placing a piece of cucumber to cover the top. Some of the cuts of meat were razor thin (I refused to grab any of these). At $3.60 a plate, you end up eating a lot of rice and not much meat. I had 8 plates for $30 and was still hungry when I left. A great novelty but not coming back.

Yelp
Was excited to come to try this place after several years since coming to a kura kura. It's so much fun and I love the prizes. Easy parking. Good service. The plates moved by very quickly and it was comfortable and clean inside. A very fun experience and the wait was good mid day. Why 3 stars? The food was only meh. Some things were good. Others I didn't even want to eat after the first bite which makes it very hard when you are supposed to put empty plates into the slot. How do I get a dish that I hated the taste of empty? Wanted to love it more but honestly didn't enjoy eating it. Probably better to go during a busy time and choose only the raw items that have not been cooked and cooling. The first plate I tried, a crab on crispy rice really set the tone as it was stale and blah. How long had it been sitting there is a question I don't want answered and one that you would not even have to ask during a busy time of day.

Yelp
We had a delightful meal here! First, waitlist is a MUST. Download the app and put yourself on the waitlist. When we went last Saturday, we got on the waitlist at 6:15, checked in at 7:10 and then finally got called for seating at 7:40. Second, this is really a self-service kind of restaurant, even though there are waitstaff all around. For example, after we got seated, no one came around to explain what to do. After about five minutes, we just started grabbing sushi off the conveyor belt. There is also a touchpad from which you can order drinks and other dishes. The wait, however, is definitely worth it! I loved that each table is adjacent to a conveyor belt so you can come with a group while also enjoying some delicious sushi. Some of my favorite bites were the charred salmon and Japanese mayo, charred eel and Japanese mayo, and toro. I think we must have had multiple dishes of these. We are definitely saucy sushi rolls kind of people, and the restaurant hit the spot. We also separately ordered taiyaki with vanilla ice cream and red bean. The teriyaki was SO crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the vanilla ice cream quite creamy. You also get gashapon prizes with a certain number of dishes you consume. Ours were yellowtail and salmon keychains! Can't wait to come back and enjoy another feast!

Yelp
After stopping by a few times over the past year or so some things are better and others not so much. On the positive, since the hype has died down it was a lot easier/faster to get a table and their online wait tracker/app is extremely helpful. We can check in and see what the current wait is and put our names on the app and head over when there's about 15 min left on our est time. That's where the positives end. The food isnt horrible but its not up to par with what it was. Portions are fine but slices of fish seem thinner and messier than before. Prices keep going up a few cents each visit so you spend more and more. Almost to the point it's cheaper and fresher to order take out from a sit down restaurant. The specials they advertise are almost non existent. I was looking forward to trying some of Feb. specials on our last visit only to find they were sold out of them all. Not the first time or prob the last this will happen. Might as well ignore their emails about what the specials are. Still planning on stopping by for the novelty and the cute gatcha prizes if you eat enough plates but we're not going out of our way to eat here.

Yelp
First time try out this restaurant, it was great experience. There is a check in tablet at the front door, make sure you check in with your name and phone number, then waiting outside (there are chairs and tables outside for customers to wait until their names are called). Someone will come out and call your name (you will also get a text message when your table is ready). It's fun to sit inside with the revolving sushi rolling around. The sushi / food are okay, the taste is not as great as the original sushi place but the style of this place is a plus. Every 10 plates, we will get a small reward gift. We can order food on the tablet there and the food just run to us which is cool. They even have robot services to bring drinks to us, unfortunately the drink was splashing out of the glasses when the robot stopped. I found it is not easy to take the plate out. But it was fun experience.

Jessica T.

Yelp
The sushi was not fresh at all and everything had a slightly bitter taste. The ice cream was good but overpriced. Everything was also sticky and dirty. We also waited about 30 min before they finally got us our chopsticks.

Zack G.

Yelp
Japanese spot with a very fun revolving conveyor-belt model where you pick and choose any small plates (all are $3.50) that you want. In addition to their small plates they also have larger food items, drinks, desserts, and items that are out of stock on the conveyer belt from a tablet at your table as well. Drinks are all delivered by a robot! When you finish eating the food on the small plates you can deposit them in a shoot at your table, and if you eat 15 of them you get a small prize lol The down-side is that the quality of the food is very unimpressive It can get incredibly busy, so joining the waitlist is a must. I was very lucky to come on a night when there was no wait

Janrose S.

Yelp
Let me start by saying this: I've been to this location at least 5 times and I will continue to go. However, there are areas of improvement I'll talk about as well. First off, I highly recommend getting the app. They have a new app which is leagues better than the previous app. With the app you can get on the waitlist. However, in the past few times I've gone here it feels like the waitlist has gotten less useful as I'll check in inside with a server and still have to wait an additional 10-20 minutes sometimes. I just wish the app was more accurate and the servers were more truthful in saying it would be 10-20 more minutes rather than "you'll be seated shorty." I always recommend ordering the hand rolls as they provide the most bang for your buck. You could order 2-4 and easily get full, and they're the same price as the plates and made to order. My other favorites are the seared salmon and any of the eel dishes. I finally tried the Japanese Style Soy Milk Donuts and they were really good, I'd say a 4/5. Pretty great portion for the price, too. The ice cream was delicious and the sauce was pretty good. The donuts were nice and warm and fluffy.

Yelp
This place tends to have a long line if it's during peak hours (dinner time and weekends). My friend and I were able to snag some seats around 4:30 or so on a Thursday, so we got there right before rush hour picked up. The plate counter for some reason wasn't working at our booth, but we flagged the waiter down to help us out. This was our first time at a conveyor belt sushi spot, so we were intrigued on the experience. It also helped that my cousin gave me some of her rewards coupons to use! Overall, the food was fairly good for the price, including the special orders. My favorite bites were the beef with yakiniku sauce and the eel nigiri. The shrimp tempura was pretty good at first, but as you chewed, it got a little too salty for me. The conveyor belts are cool and the staff are super friendly, but I felt that there was always a lack of sushi on the conveyor belt itself. We constantly had to order from the screen to get our food. As time progressed, there were a lot of other people that came in and the restaurant eventually got full before we left. There's also plenty of free parking in the parking lots, but it can be difficult to get out if it's rush hour.

Yelp
Kura is like the McDonald's of sushi: it's not awesome sushi but it's consistent no matter if you're in Austin, NYC, DC, Detroit, Orlando, or Philly. This location in NoVa is no exception. The place is a bit small compared to certain other locations, but service is quick, orders come on the conveyor belt quickly. They've also really made an effort to keep the dish drop sanitary - some locations can smell badly but this one was OK. Highly recommend this place for a large variety of sushi, fresh, reasonably priced, and won't break your wallet.

Paul J.

Yelp
There are lots of places to get sushi around the DMV, some are good, some are terrible. And there are several rotary belts, too. But Kura adds a little fun with their sushi delivery belt and their robot beverage delivery. The sushi is decent, especially if you stick to the standard fare (e.g., salmon and tuna). They have some interesting cuts of fish as well as some mixed ingredients, too. If you're adventurous, there's definitely opportunity to expand your palate. If you want something that's not appearing on the rotary belt, just order on the touchscreen and it'll arrive in about 5 minutes on the upper belt. And for every 15 plates you order, a little machine drops a keychain toy at your table. Not bad for a fun afternoon. If you're looking for sushi in a fun environment, Kura is definitely for you.

JK F.

Yelp
My daughter and I had such a good dinner and fun here. The customer experience was just right for us for a quick, weeknight dinner. When I said to our friendly waiter it was our first time, he welcomed us and brought out a plate and cover to demonstrate how to take a plate from the conveyor belt. My daughter got all the plates for me. She was also delighted to order her food on the screen and see the plates flying down the track to us. She wanted the robot to deliver something to us, but we couldn't make that happen. We will just have to return to this place soon and try again. Paying the bill was painless, no waiting for the back and forth with the bill and no one looking over my shoulder while signing. Food tasted good across the board, just a little small and thin. The price was right, though, and I was not looking for a Michelin-star experience.

Michael S.

Yelp
Spoiled by the Genki chain when I lived in Hawaii, I came here with high expectations. Unfortunately, Kura did not live up to them. Don't get me wrong -- it's an average revolving sushi place with some decent options on the belt and ordering from the tablet is always a fun and easy way to get your food. The tako yaki, however, was completely raw with liquid batter on the inside. Thankfully, the staff were friendly and removed that plate from our bill. The biggest letdown for me was the cleanliness of the place. Sticky tables, dirty floors, food on the wall near our booth. It seems that the staff don't do much more than a quick wipe down of the tables very often. The novelty of revolving sushi is fun, but that's not always quite enough.

Daniel C.

Yelp
Kura offers a unique sushi experience with a variety of options on the conveyor belt, each dish costing $3.55. The added fun of a plate-counting dispenser and a chance to win prizes after 15 plates adds an exciting touch. The sushi, while not premium, is consistently delicious and freshly made. Ordering from the screen for specific items, including dessert and appetizers like cheese cake or edamame, adds to the convenience. A robotic delivery system is a futuristic touch. Despite some seating feeling a bit cramped, the clean and casual atmosphere, along with the nice and quick service, make Kura a standout spot for a tasty and entertaining sushi experience.

Darrell L.

Yelp
I feel compelled to update my review as we still go to Kura periodically for an instant gratification sushi meal but....a few complaints which should be evaluated by Mgmt- 1. Little fruit flies are flying all over at the table. I can only imagine how many are flying around in the kitchen and potentially landing on the sushi before being served. This needs to be cleaned up immediately! 2. No napkins on the table. I don't know what happened to the napkin dispenser but they may have gotten rid of it. Had to ask the waiter for napkins after we started eating. 3. No tongs for the ginger. Luckily I respectfully used a clean pair if chopsticks to get ginger for all of us. Why isn't this being monitored? I note that the Kura ratings have dropped after the initial entertainment value of rotary sushi and robots. Kura Mgmt- you need to clean these issues up or folks won't be coming back...

Elyse E.

Yelp
Gonna have to lower my earlier rating from 5 stars to 4. While Kura is still a fun spot - and a good value for the money - cleanliness standards at this location are low, and food quality has gotten poorer. Lots of fruit flies and such flying around on our last visit, and the store and conveyor belt just don't look clean. For the past few visits, fish quality has been lower, with a few pieces tasting like they were not stored /prepared properly. The flow of the conveyor belt has also gotten slower, IE you have to wait longer for plates to come around or order missing plates from the screen. The employees here are really nice, and it certainly isn't their fault - this location needs more staff.

Mic T.

Yelp
Service sucks! We waited for 2 hours and what a rude attendant or who ever she is. First of all - we did our check in. We waited patiently since it automatically said - the cue might take around 30minutes wait. We came back - stood for 15mins - so thats 45 mins and sat for 20more minutes. 3 groups ahead were called and thats when i got pissed! I went up to her and you know what she didnt even looked at me turned around and went back inside - when she came back i asked her how about us? Wheres our cue? She said well youre not checked in? Im ready to fight but my kids told me not to make a fuss... if not for my kids really requested this place i stormed out 30 mins ago. Food is decent - just like any other japanese food place, only difference is so obvious the conveyor. Ambiance i cant really tell since we are seated by the entrance - i didnt see the inside. I gave it 2 stars because of the robot waiter who served our drinks, which is so cute - desert, icecream with taiyaki which is surprisingly good and the little prize you get once you reach a certain amount. Improve customer service please. No excuse just because youre busy you have the right to be rude. Wont hurt if you apologize.... After all good service is one important factor that makes customers go back. I myself will not come back.

Lisa L.

Yelp
We came on a Monday for an early dinner at 5 pm. We heard this place gets crowded and wait time is long, but were surprised that we got seated immediately. The server showed us how to get the plates from the conveyor belt. Each plate is $3.50. You must order your drinks including water on the computer pad at your table, then the drinks are delivered by a robot. There were many items to try and choose that we didn't need to get any special orders on the computer pad. Everything tasted fresh. It's best to come on a weekday for dinner when it's less crowded.

Sophia P.

Yelp
Fairly priced sushi, there's always something on the belt for everyone. The little robot that brings the drinks is always efficient and the people are accommodating when you call them over for refills on the drinks. You can really rack up points to get to reward with their app! There are many places to sit and the booths allow for privacy.

Julie H.

Yelp
Definitely went for the experience of conveyor belt sushi restaurant. When the restaurant is busy, it feels very cramped inside and messy. Tables were sticky from the customers before, had kids spill drinks all over the table and seats. The server did try to clean it off but was not thorough and was still sticky. We still sat down to eat. Since you just pick up whatever sushi plate you see on the conveyor and you can also order specific sushi dish, there isn't much interactions with waiters or servers. Only for water or drinks. Their sushi was decent, the sushi sashimi slices were on the thinner side and seem fresh enough. Decent quality. I ate mostly salmon and some tuna. Most dishes were good and honestly it was fun picking out my sushi dish as the conveyor belt went around. I have been to other conveyor belt sushi restaurants in different countries and compared to those this conveyor belt sushi restaurant is average. Still a fun experience.

Annie C.

Yelp
My friends and I came here on a spontaneous night, and the wait was not too bad considering our group size. However, the tables do not accommodate six or more, but they try to squeeze people in and add chairs on the side. The chairs do not fit the aisle and make it super inconvenient and uncomfortable at the table for us and others walking around. The tables and seats are super uncomfortable regardless of this fact. The layout of the this restaurant is honestly just not optimal. Service is poor even though I know this is meant to be a pretty service free restaurant experience. When we did need and requested help, they never came. And when we didn't need help, staff stood at our table for a long time rambling not giving us a chance to start our meal right away when we already had been waiting for a while. The revolving sushi part is definitely fun and exciting until you realize it's better to just order since they don't always have items available or that it's just easier to order instead. Sushi quality is pretty poor considering the price, especially the rice, which just falls apart and not a great texture or consistency. We definitely paid a lot just to basically eat meh rice and for the revolving sushi experience. I think we didn't realize cost would rack up so easily, but now considering portion size and quality, this was definitely superrr overpriced. I also wish that there was more variety in sushi because it's actually not as much you would expect. Overall, I was tremendously disappointed and upset that it cost so much even per person. I would definitely not recommend and would not be coming back.

Kellie F.

Yelp
I love Kura sushi. It's not fancy sushi, and I wouldn't expect top notch quality you would expect in a fine dining restaurant. It's fast casual but tasty. I like it when I'm hungry for something small and fast but not fast food. It's pretty much self service. The kids love it. It's just a fun experience and good food

Kaoru M.

Yelp
I love revolving sushi (kaiten sushi), and Kura Sushi is one of the more popular chains in Japan. I loved my visit to Kura Sushi in Japan this past summer. So in theory, I should love it here... but I didn't. Both the rotating conveyors and the tablet for ordering directly from the menu are the same as the Kura in Japan. What's not the same is the quality of the rice. The rice for the nigiri were barely formed and crumbles waaaay too easily. I'm also not a fan of the pricing scheme where most plates cost the same ($3.50 per plate). This means salmon costs the same as sea bream, which is typically a more expensive fish. I suppose you might come out ahead if you know to order the items that cost more wholesale, but the point of revolving sushi is to try many different types of sushi. Lastly, the cost of some items are inexcusably high. $5 for an order of French fries that's about the size of a McDonalds small fry? The lesson I learned on this visit is that some Japanese restaurants are just better experienced in Japan and not in the US.

Jane B.

Yelp
The concept is definitely cool and is an experience everyone should try at least once. I'm not writing this restaurant completely off but there are a few things to keep in mind. The waitlist system is unreliable. The sushi quality is meh. It's not the cleanest place in the world. There are fruitflies. It's kind of pricey for what you're getting.

Ashley B.

Yelp
I just came back from a trip to Japan and this restaurant is the closest place in the DMV area that I've been to so far that's most similar to Japan. It's a chain that started in Japan, so all of the elements are very similar. The sushi quality is sooo good for a conveyor belt style. Honestly some of the best tasting sushi you can find in this area. Their service is really fast once you sit down but make sure to go on the waitlist before you head over on the app. We didn't do this before coming so we had to wait 45 minutes once we got there. They have so much variety on their menu and even have udon and ramen. The kitsune udon was amazing and tastes just like the one I had in Tokyo. I love that they have the gifts you get after 15 plates and their rewards on the app are a pretty nice incentive to keep coming back.

Yelp
My favorite dishes include: - Fried Squid with Shishito Peppers - Kura Sushi Roll - Negitoro - Salmon Mayo - Kappa Maki (cucumber roll) - fried Japanese Donuts with Vanilla Ice cream

Yelp
Sushi is pretty basic, but you're here for the experience! Located in a small strip mall, there's plenty of parking. I do try to avoid peak hours cause the wait can be unpredictable and you need to wait outside (not that great in the cold). You can get on the wait-list using the app, or by checking in with staff inside. They sometimes have a tablet outside for check in as well. Once you get seated, it's an introverts dream. You never talk to a server again, which can be nice cause you don't feel rushed. You order from a screen, a robot brings your drinks which is super cute. I bring my son here and he's way more enthusiastic to try new sushi when he can see it and grab it! You can also order additional items on screen and my favorites are the takoyaki and the salmon skin and shishito. Definitely worth a try just to experience the conveyor belt!

Yelp
We drove 24 miles just to get Sushi. I heard that this place was on point. So, we got to Kura and was placed on the waitlist. You would be surprised that we number 9 and we we're sitting les than 20 minutes. The food was delicious, I am not a sushi fan, but I enjoyed everything. The small booths make it so much fun eat with family and friends. I would recommend that you try the crispy rice and salmon/ the crispy rice and spicy tuna. OMG!

Yelp
Wish I could give more stars. The concept is super cool and cute. The food wasn't anything special. It's hard to see items passing you 5-10 times especially wish or milk items knowing that it's not fresh anymore. The Maki should be cut into 6 pieces not 4. The dessert was good Cleanliness wasn't the best either. The staff doesn't seem to happy working there sadly either. Maybe fun for kids but would go back if I want good sushi. The dessert was good

Yelp
Wow such a fun place! This was my boyfriend and my first time visiting kura and it was definitely a fun experience. I love the robot that serves you drinks and the prizes after you eat a certain amount. Its definitely a fun interactive experience. Now on to the food!! Most of the nigiri was delicious. All the salmon pieces were a hit and the tuna as well. I normally get squid nigiri and it tasted so...odd. Im not sure if I got a bad batch but I couldnt eat all of it.

Yelp
Everyone should visit once to get a Japanese atmosphere conveyor belt sushi bar experience! Everything from the food to the service was okay minus the great conveyor belt experience. The only in person interaction was with host and yet it was so horrible. When I first arrived to seating, the host didn't greet me at all with any hello or welcome. He straight up told me to use the ipad to check in and any interaction after that was bad. Honestly, the robot, and texting service were friendlier than the host. The host made the whole experience feel so unwelcoming/uninviting. The sushi was 50/50 on taste. Some sushi dishes were good and some were disappointing. The udon had to be the star dish compared to the other dishes. Don't expect much from the food or service but enjoy the new experience with mostly no human interaction! Great for people who are introverted!

Yelp
This is our first time going. They ask that you download the app to get on the waitlist. I had downloaded the app, and it insists that you set up an account. Then they changed the app. Not update, changed. That is ridiculous. Then my wife downloaded the new app, set up an account and joined the waitlist. We got to the place and they said "The app doesn't do anything. The waitlist only starts when you get there." Really? That is the stupidest thing I have heard in a long time. Service was hit and miss. One or two of the people were nice, but some clearly did not want to be there. They have little tablets at each table to order. They could not have picked a more awkward and inconvenient place for them if they tried. Finally, we went on a Thursday night, and the place was pretty full. BUT: The conveyer belt was more than 50% empty the entire time. The belt setup was also goofy and it was hard to pick up. The ONLY saving grace was that the sushi was good. They had a bunch of stuff that we had never had before, and we liked everything we tried. That is the ONLY reason they did not get a one star.

Yelp
I first tried Kura last year when I went to Japan and the American location is exactly the same. The food was delicious and very authentic to what I had in Japan. The conveyor belt adds to the vibe and truly makes it a unique experience. In terms of service it's pretty hands off which I personally like, but you can always get help if you need it

Yelp
Had a very FULLfilling lunch at Kura. I sat on the one-person dine-in table and I was confused at first; until the front greeter told me that they would provide further instructions. I had reviewed the previous photos from previous customers and was wondering how or what the robot was and it is actually for the drink orders. The robot took off with my soda since I was slow and the other customers laughed!! There are two choices to pick your orders. The screen or the sushi belt that has relatively quick choices (but NOT ALL the choices from the menu; like the ramens and most desserts). The girl that was next to me suggested to order from the monitor/screen than chowing from the sushi belt that rotated the limited choices of sushi choices. I stated that the plates on the belt were actually more cheaper at only $3.50 per plate which was about 4 sushi rolls on a standard saucer plate. In order to pick the plate from the belt you ONLY have to lift the plate up until it pops off the acrylic capsules. And once you're done with a plate, there's a plate dispenser slide slot that your slide down in front of each chairs that dispenses the finished plates. Theres only a small and very slim napkin and soy sauce spout with a button for release that is in each table per person. There are plenty of bar seat tables for customers dining in with 2+ or up to 4-5 people per table/ booths. There's a barcode you can scan to earn points; per dollar spent to accrue points! I spent over $33 and earned 90 points (that's 10 points per $1 spent), plus coke and free water drink/s. I enjoyed eating at Kura revolving Sushi bar! I would only suggest that the conveyer belt speed was 2-3 seconds slower, it took 2 to 3 evolutions until I could start making choices. The orders from the screen had automated sliding belt above the revolving sushi conveyer belt that super slides your individual orders overhead; very futuristic and I enjoyed watching everyone order and some of my orders as well (I ordered Imari omelet sushis, 2QTY, and 3 tiny sesame ball deserts with red bean filling which was super hot, but very freshly made and good!). I am bringing a date here next time to have a more fun time!

Yelp
The novelty is great, but the food is average. In the style of rotating sushi bars that makes food delivery quick and easy. The robot delivery of drinks is fun, but not really needed. I can see it getting old after the first visit. Food was acceptable, but nothing special. I enjoyed that you could order items off a menu and not have to wait for something to rotate around to you, but wish they would have less mayo and fried food. Good sushi and sashimi options without all the sauces on top would be welcomed. Seems like they were trying to cover up the taste of the fish.

Yelp
This place was eh for us. When we arrived, it asked us to check in outside on the iPad and that someone was going to come and get us. We waited for at least 20 mins before someone came. It wasn't busy inside and had lots of table available so not sure why we waited. Since it was our first time coming, I thought the staff would explain to us how everything works. No demonstration was done and didn't tell us about the iPad. We had to figure it out on our own. Each plate was $3.55 and when you get 15 plates you get a toy. With the revolving sushi bar, we waited for what we wanted to come and took it from there. It was a little difficult opening it since it's our first time. Later on we started using the iPad to order since it was faster and tasted more fresh. The service here was nonexistent. It was hard to flag someone down to get refills on our drinks. And even selecting on the iPad, it took them a while to come to our table. Will not be returning since there wasn't anything special or memorable or tasty.

Yelp
Food is always fresh, service is pretty good (this is a hard point because it's just the random folks walking around, but they're all kind and make sure you're taken care of), ambiance is great, it can get busy so I would try to come during a slow time (between lunch and dinner) or right when they open. Been many times and it's a staple for me and my husband.

Yelp
Awesome revolving sushi restaurant. Fish is always melts in your mouth. The rice portions in the nigiri may be too much for some, but the combination of sugar and vinegar elevates the rice flavor. There is a wait list that you can join when it gets busy, and there is plenty of parking in the lot. They also prizes you can win based off of how many sushi plates you finish.

Yelp
I've been to Kura in Washington DC 2 years ago, waited 2 hours but it was worth the experience. This location however, we walked right in and were seated. The conveyor belt of "sushi" was empty. Nothing was on any of the plates, so we ended up ordering from the menu. No one explained to us how to grab the plates, luckily I already knew due to my past visit from the other location. The only cool thing was the robot that brought you drinks. The place was clean though.

Yelp
Came here to try a variety of sushi and sashimi. We put ourselves on the waitlist at the door and received a text. After about 10-15 mins, we were seated and ordered our drinks and some dishes using the tablet. Our drinks were delivered by a robot and the food we ordered came on the belt. There were a good number of sushi dishes on the belt, and we grabbed a bunch. Food quality was okay. Okay enough to not be mad about going there, but not good enough to go again. I'd say the experience is fun, but if you're looking for quality food, look elsewhere.

Yelp
Fun with your kid(s) - my 14 yo daughter loves it, but far from the best sushi around. Robots and delivery conveyor are fun for a night out with the offspring. That's about it.

Yelp
Kura is a fun sushi experience where you can try many different types of sushi for a relatively good price. That being said the quality of the fish and make of the sushi were subpar. The fish is slice fairly thin and the quality is not top notch. I recommend for the fun dining experience but not really for the food itself.

Yelp
Came here for the quality of sushi and drink-robot. Waited for about 1 hr but it was worth it. The reason we waited that long was because their app was down. Flavor of the foods was great. From various plates of sushi, mochi, salad, we also ordered crispy chicken, garlic steak, ramen and more. The 1-star deduction was due to service. Lagging on collecting dirty dishes that cannot go into the plates spot, even after pressed CALL button. There was 1 particular waitress had a stinky face on the whole time , ugh that negative vibe ‍ Do recommend, with room for improvement.

Yelp
Overall, I would say that this is a fun experience and a great way to introduce people to sushi as they have both raw fish and cooked sushi options. We spent about $90 for 3 people, which is not bad for sushi. I wouldn't say that this is the best sushi I've ever had, as there are definitely a couple hit or miss options here. There was a red Texas roll that just wasn't good. But the salmon nigiri, the salmon on crunchy rice, and the crunch roll were both good. Putting the plates in the slot was a lot of fun and seeing the number rack up is low key competitive. However, where you are seated definitely affects your ability to get the good options off of the conveyor belt, but the order directly to your table option is very convenient and combats that issue. The wait time to get in is long. I would recommend planning accordingly.

Yelp
What a fabulous new addition to Tyson's Corner! When I found out my fav DC conveyor sushi bar opened a new location in TC I had to try it. Before you go, check the wait time on the app. On our first visit it was 3.5 hours on a Saturday afternoon. Crazy!! I actually drove over and put my name on the app, and then we went to Tyson's Galleria to hang for a bit. Indeed, it took about 3 hours for my name to get to the top 5, so the time was accurate. The sushi here is fresh and expectedly so, given the high volume of throughput this establishment is doing. That said, position of your table is critical. If your table is toward the back, you will be last to get items on the conveyor belt, so better to just order on the screen (although you have to wait 5-10 minutes for them to make it). The salmon, hamachi, and toro are my favorites. In fact, the toro maki is excellent (you cannot get this on the belt). The ikura was also very good and we usually get a few orders of the crispy spicy tuna and/or salmon. Always a crowd pleaser and very tasty. The drink menu is basic, but good. Tall Kirin is only $5.75, which I think is quite reasonable. Bottle of hot sake $9, which isn't too bad. The staff is helpful and you can ring the call button if you need them to stop by. Overall, great new restaurant in Tysons. Horrendous wait times, so beware. But well worth the wait if you want affordable fresh sushi!

Yelp
Long wait for extremely mediocre food quality. The two best parts about this place are the robot drink waiter. It rolls up to your table with your drink order, very cool. I also love conveyer belt sushi joints. Sadly the long wait outside, for pretty mediocre quality food is a bit of a letdown. Skip the gimmicky conveyer belt, there are many better sushi joints in nova.

Yelp
I was super excited to Kura to open in Tyson's because I love the DC location but this one just isn't as good as DC. Hopefully that's because it's fairly new and will improve over time. First off the wait is WILD. We put in our names on the app and waited the majority of the time at home (thank goodness because when we got there the tablet said it was a 4 hour wait). After we arrived the numbering system seemed a bit off. We waited outside for 20-30 minutes before asking and realizing they skipped 11 numbers and sat people further in the queue first. Then when you get inside, if you want to order drinks you have to do it on the tablet. It took FOREVER for water and even though people came around and we asked for water we had to wait for they little robot guy to bring it to us... we were so thirsty we ordered ramen and udon just to have some form of liquid... which came before the water The sushi is pretty good, same quality as DC so I was happy to see that. But the service needs to be improved immensely

Yelp
We tried this spot for the first time. The prices are really good as the plates are $3/piece. They have a cool little slot for plates to be returned which also ends up counting how many plates you've had while you've been there. The service here is great! They also have a little robot that brings some of the drinks to their guests. It's a cool little spot as it has a conveyor belt that has the plated sushi move throughout the restaurant.

Yelp
People, stop deducting stars for the long wait - there's a LONG wait no matter when you show up here. I have been there twice in person and once we ordered delivery. If you are going to pay for this experience, go in person even through there is a long wait. The robot that brings you drinks, the iPad that you order and the conveyer belt is WORTH the experience and SO MUCH FUN! Food (5/5): Fantastic conveyer belt sushi! I love that the majority of the small plates are all $3.50 so you can really choose a lot of different ones. The exceptions are the sashimi and the hot food that you order separately off the iPad. My favorites are the SEARED SALMON JAPANESE MAYO and the SEARED BEEF WITH YAKINIKU SAUCE. I mean, where else can you get seared beef? It's like the best medium rare thinly sliced steak served over a little ball of rice. Just delicious! When it's available, get the Crispy Rice nigiri! Try all of them! The CRISPY RICE WITH SPICY SALMON is my favorite but they are all great! It's nigiri with a crispy rice base. I haven't seen this anywhere in a sushi place so it's really fun to try! The rolls are bit mushy and not really worth it. The shrimp tempura was really great - any of the hot food is made to order and comes to you on a separate conveyer belt. It's so much fun! Service (4/5): The service was good - even though you had to flag down the waiters to bring you your bill since most of the stuff is automated.
