The people who reside in the NASA/Clear Lake area have another Japanese place to decide from -- and not only that -- but Kura is mere feet away from what's arguably one of the best sushi places around, Ohayo.
I've had rotating sushi before, but it was my first time visiting Kura. Minutes after my mom, her friend, and I settled down at our table, I grabbed a plate of unagi (eel) from the conveyor belt. Impressed, I followed it with salmon, tiger and rainbow rolls, sea urchin, and chicken gyoza. Some of the dishes were tasty while others I don't think I could ever pick up again.
There's been talk about how restaurants will have robots replace humans when serving. Well, Kura deploys robots to bring customers their drinks, which I thought was pretty cool. The restaurant's raspberry iced tea is a certified thirst quencher though refills were out of the question for me because I'm on fluid restriction for health reasons.
I mentioned earlier that Kura and Ohayo are next to each other thus giving people more choices when it comes to Japanese cuisine. If anything, it's merely an apples and oranges kind of thing when comparing the two eateries. It all depends on what you're in the mood for and whether your wallet can take it.
