Kura Revolving Sushi Bar Review - Rittenhouse - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Kura Revolving Sushi Bar is a futuristic fast-food Japanese spot serving dishes via conveyor belt just off Rittenhouse Square. The two-level, Tetris-themed chain restaurant circulates dishes like sushi rolls, nigiri, and dumplings for customers to grab directly from their table, or you can order from the full menu via a tableside tablet. The beep-bop-boop-bop doesn’t end there–a robot playing rock and roll delivers the drinks, while a prize machine shoots out rewards like temporary tattoos for every 15 plates you eat. Yes, it’s ridiculous, but it’s also pretty fun, and the food is solid enough for a quick and casual meal. You can’t go wrong with the seared salmon with Japanese mayo or hamachi tataki with ponzu oil, but steer clear of the bland and too-chewy tonkotsu ramen." - Alison B. Kessler

I had been looking forward to coming here to experience the conveyor belt sushi, and it did not disappoint. The hostess kindly explained the process because the tutorial video was not working. The process is very easy to figure out, though. I ended up having 14 dishes, and all of them were enjoyable! The only negative is that if you are looking for a specific, popular dish, you may have to wait quite a while for it to reappear on the belt. Highly recommend, and I will try it again with company.

Sushi hit the spot everytime. The service and atmosphere is awesome. Place is super clean as well. My server Sofia was amazing, super nice and kind. Always a pleasure to see her every time I eat at the Kura Sushi in Rockville. She one of the main reason why I keep coming back to this location. Can’t wait to come back soon.

Jake and Jessyca were our servers. They were great and friendly! The food was amazing. I am now in a food coma. So much sushi. A fun place to celebrate our birthday.

Google
Unique sushi restaurant conveyor belt sushi style and is as authentic sushi quality from Japan. Pick your all you eat per plate or order other dishes special requests delivery food directly to you on a separate conveyor belt and has a robot drink delivery. Its quality Japanese food taste out weighs the cost your paying for best high quality authentic Japanese sushi

Super friendly staff - Carlos took great care of us without checking in too often! Store was very clean and we loved the robot who delivers drinks! Can’t wait to come back!!!

Google
Another pleasant surprise in the DMV albeit in The People’s Republic of MD, lol. That was a joke. I don’t venture out to my old stomping grounds as much as I used to but took my daughter here on Father’s day. It was great. I loved the smaller plates which allow you to dabble with many dishes opposed to a few you would get at other sushi restaurants for the same price point. This place was high tech! Picture Jiro Dreams of Sushi meeting Neo Tokyo. They have little RDD2 looking robots delivering drinks and thumping music as they scoot on by. The conveyer belt system allows for easy access and the express conveyer belt allows for direct menu orders in case you can’t snag what you are looking for on the mean streets of the main belt haha. It’s hard out here when everyone is hungry. However, when you eat enough plates and achieve a state of satiety you get a pokeball looking prize that has a trinket of some sort in there. Bear in mind, this isn’t SHŌTŌ or any other shmancy spot but you will leave full and the food is absolutely fine. Definitely worth checking out. I will be back or check out one of their sister locations in the DMV.

Google
Another Kura sushi in this area. Same tasty sushi, udon, with a very fun place for family dinner or date. Robot servings are fun to watch. Staff are kind, and the place is clean. But weekends get really busy(30~45 min for waiting time). Recommend weekdays for no wait dinner.

Google
I really enjoyed eating Sushi here at Kura. The service was fast and the wait to be seated wasn’t long at all. I really enjoyed eating the Spider roll and the soy wrapped snow crab was delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I’ll definitely be coming again.

Yelp
Top notch revolving sushi - with the wait! I came dinner and there was a good dinner rush. It was a 30 minute wait (no big deal). We did the self check in and received a text upon check in and when our travel was ready. The revolving sushi was amazing. You grab plates as you want or order from the menu. When you're done you slid it in a slot. The plate slot counts your plates and totals the plates and costs at the end of your meal. It's a great place for families or couples. A bonus is when you hit a certain amount of plates, you get poke balls. This is the same spot that is in DC. I'm definitely going to be a regular.

Yelp
This was a hike! I had a weekday off and wanted to experience the rotating bar. I went to the one in DC last winter. And I went to the one in Towson 20 years ago on a date. I did not really get into the bar then. Food selection was better and more frequent with the DC rotating bar than Rockville. It may have been because DC had a wait, and it was a Sunday after 2pm. I would go to the DC one a again but I would only go to the Rockville one if I just so happen to be in the area. Mostly because the clam, lobster, and crab sushi barely were plated. (I sat next to the opening where the cooks were, so I watched). Service was good and I loved the weird toilet.

Yelp
Going to try to be as nice as possible but this is one of the worst places I've been to. Long story short, how does food poisoning sound. I knew something was off, the quality is absolutely worse than buffet quality but some of the dishes smelled extremely fishy, especially the shrimp. I should have known better. By the time I was home, a few hours had gone by and I'm sweating, have the chills. My wife thankfully didn't throw up but I did. However we both had bathroom issues all night and all day today (you can guess what that issue is). I'm sorry but come on. This place is doing something wrong. Cool concept but other than that there is an issue if we have suffered all night and an entire Sunday of absolutely feeling horrendous. SOMETHING is wrong here. Either food contamination, cross contamination, stuff left out too long and served to your guests causing this is absolutely awful. How do I know this is where I got sick from? My only meal of the entire day was at Kura. I'm extremely disappointed, extremely mad and I caution anyone to really smell the food to ensure it is actuallly ok and not extremely fishy.

Yelp
Best revolving sushi around! We are regulars at this point, we love their offerings and are all at affordable prices. The staff is super friendly and they now have a new reservation system! They have even been running fun promos lately. Def go if you haven't!

Yelp
I've been to Kura on the west coast, and decided to check this one out. Pretty standard conveyer belt sushi. The ordered plates come out pretty quick, quality is average. They have booths along with single seating, which is more reminiscent of Japanese restaurants. You can self-pay through your phone at the end, which is nice. Overall good service.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place. Sushi is fresh and many to choose from on the conveyor belt. Lunch on Saturday 2pm, busy no wait. Hot foods, sushi, and other items available to order on iPad was seamless as was the delivery to your table by robot or arrived via the belt. Staff is around if needed. Booths for 4 are a great way to enjoy the experience, or dine alone at the counter, And the bathrooms, not to be missed! Seriously.

Yelp
Kura Sushi Bar made for a fun family night out on Thursday! The restaurant was buzzing, but not overcrowded. We were seated maybe 5 minutes after we arrived. We chose to skip premade sushi on the conveyor belt and ordered sushi straight from the table-side kiosk. There's a cartoon that plays after every 5 plates that you put in the plate return. It was a nice touch. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and thoroughly enjoyed. The showstopper though, was the robot server that delivered out drinks. My son was impressed by the robo-server and might've enjoyed the robot more than the sushi! Lol Kura is a great balance of tech-savvy fun and top-notch sushi. If you're looking for good food and the futuristic vibes, Kura Sushi definitely delivers! Just like the robo-servers, we'll definitely be rolling back for more!
google avatar

Victoria S.

Yelp
Restaurant concept is cute, a circular conveyor belt moving around with food items for the customer's convenience. The execution, on pointe as well. The waitstaff explain everything upon getting seated. Drink orders can be done on the touchscreen. A server or robot will bring to your table. If one wants to order an item not on the belt can use the same touchscreen. The item will arrive on a conveyor belt above the main one. Prices of the items in the main belt are determined by the by plate color. Once the plates are done they can be slid into a slot on the side of your table for disposal. We ordered several dishes from the screen and picked up some nigiri from the belt. All were fresh and delicious. The hand rolls were very well constructed and stuffed. The kitsune udon noodle soup was very hot and noodles were cooked perfectly. We got unagi, sea bream, salmon, tuna and scallops nigiri. All were very good. Will be back to try more!

Yelp
I have been here several times in just a couple of months. It has been a family favorite that keeps young kids entertained and fed. The staff are very welcoming but during busy times it might take while for a hot drink refill. Cold non-alcoholic drinks come on the little robot who plays a loud melody to announce its presence. The table has a box containing white ginger with tongs, little sauce dishes, a napkin dispenser, and a soy sauce dispenser. If it is your first visit, they explain how to remove the plate from the belt and have you practice. Food is relatively fresh and if you do not see what you want, you can order it off the screen and have it sent directly to your seat. There are occasional special dishes that are available while supplies last. For non nigiri eaters, you can order other foods like friends, fried chicken (karaage), a variety of udon soups, and more. There are handrolls and non-seaweed rolls that can also be ordered. Only things that come on the round plates count towards the capsule count (there's a thin shoot to slide your plates into). This would be anything off the normal belt ($3.75 per plate) or the other $3.75 items, including sometimes ordering a specific capsule prize (but not the rare ones). Every 10 plates there is an animation and every 15 plates triggers a capsule prize. If you have the Kura rewards app, you can earn $5 rewards for your next visit ($10 max per visit). Make sure you scan the QR code from your receipt or have the server scan the QR code in your app before checking out. Bathroom is very clean and Kura is the only restaurant where my child willingly goes to the bathroom. The bidet has several fun features (like a seat warmer for a very cold day). Favorites/regular orders that are not nigiri: - udon is good for splitting amongst young picky eaters (comes with green onions if that is off putting to you) -warabimochi comes on the belt and is a sweet chewy snack with soy dusting. We sometimes save the extra powder to dip dessert in. - taiyaki ice cream: hot,fish-shaped waffle with sweet red bean paste inside served alongside ice cream and some more red bean paste. -Japanese soy donut: slightly sweet donut puffs served with ice cream

Yelp
If you have been to a place where you see sushi plates on a conveyor belt, well then you gotta check this place out! It's so much fun and a robot will even deliver your drink (sometimes they can a little help from the staff too!). My friend are I tried about 10 sushi plates and good the delicious chicken gyozas. We enjoyed all of our sushi plates. I really loved the spicy crunchy golden roll and spicy tuna and my friend liked her caterpillar roll. The only one we really were underwhelmed with was the crab. The crispy rice was delicious which can be ordered from digital menu as well as miso soup and udon soup..yum! All of our items totaled to about $67, not bad!!

Yelp
I've tried both the Tyson's and DC locations of Kura previously, so I was excited for one to open closer to me in Rockville. Upon visiting for the first time, the restaurant was clean and the service was good. Any issues that we had were quickly resolved by one of the lead servers! My favorite selections from the conveyor belt were the miso cream cheese eel nigiri and the seared beef nigiri, because they are so flavorful. I also really liked the crunchy rice options that are made to order. The only bite I did not like was the imitation crab nigiri, which was ice cold and a bit watery - almost like it had been frozen previously. Everything else tasted fresh. I think the Tyson's location has more variety on the menu than either Rockville or DC though. I do like that Kura remains reasonably priced despite having some pricier fish options like Toro and scallops. I will be going back!
google avatar

Benjamin T.

Yelp
This chain is amazing and the buzz around it coming to Rockville has made many locals happy. It's right next to Torchy's tacos and my friends and I are always conflicted on which restaurant to go to. So far Kura has won the majority vote of the dinner groups. The sushi is not Michelin star omakase. However the best quality you will get in a revolving sushi restaurant. There are limited edition specials such as wagyu and tuna otoro which for 3.70 is not a bad price. The service is great and they use kat robots to help with drinks during the dinner and lunch rushes. You can order on the tablet and it's brought to you as quick as it's shipped up from the kitchen. You want a refill? Hit a button and call the wait staff. They also periodically round on you if in the vicinity. Great service. Tables turnover quickly due to the use of technology to help speed up service. The cartoons and capsule toys are icing on the cake. My kids loved them as much as the desserts. The toilets have heated seats with bidet.... Some may say that's the icing on the cake. Easy 5 stars!
google avatar

Lisa Y.

Yelp
What a fun experience!! Plates were good and came around frequently. We tried a couple of the monthly specials. The tamago was good according to my brother. Cheesecake was average. Overall a good meal!
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
I went there with my family for my birthday and it was everything I expected and more. I LOVE sushi and the more plates you eat, the further along in a story you got that was displayed on your table's ordering monitor. Each plate equated to about $3 so there's potential for a higher bill if you just keep going for as long as you can! The service was amazing and the ambiance was so fun! I would come back.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Kind of an odd check in sitCheck those text messages carefully after signing in. Apparently you have to check with the host despite using the machine. Even when we did that we waited far longer than the initial 5-15 mins the machine said. When we said something about it we were told that the machine is never right. Seems nonsense to me. The food... was great. Some of the best sushi we have had in the area. And it wasn't gimmicky either. The belt and robots are fun. Aside from taking forever to get a refill on soda, the service was good... especially when it was robot provided. Was it cheap? Heck no. Two adults and an 8yr old was $100 with tip. But it was good and we'd come back.

Yelp
I had the perfect sushi date here yesterday! I absolutely love the revolving bar! It was my first time here so I tried a little bit of everything and for the most part I and enjoyed it all. If you're a sushi person you'll love this place and there's something for everyone to try. They also have ramen options available and I'll try that the next time I come. The service was great and our waiter explained everything to us before we started eating. The plates are about $4 a piece and they're perfect for sharing or grabbing your own. I also had a red bean dessert with vanilla ice cream and it was delicious. The bathrooms are gender neutral and clean! A must try place and I can't wait to come back! My favorite sushi was the pan seared mackerel, omg!!!
google avatar

Bernadette C.

Yelp
Hot new sushi restaurant!! You sign in outside and wait for them to call you. You order your drinks and some food on electronic ordering iPad like device, or you see it circulating past you, then you pull the dish off the conveyor belt. The drinks arrive on a cute little robot, that looks like Eve from Wall-E. Each plate has a dollar value ($5, $4, $3) attached, so you can keep track of your expenses. But everything looks so good and delicious, you almost can't stop yourself. I will admit, the bill was a little steep, so try to control yourself. The wait staff were nice, and the weekend crowds are large. Everyone excited about this restaurant, so maybe visit on the off hours. The concept of this restaurant is fun and unique. You'll love it, if you haven't been yet.
google avatar

G L.

Yelp
We were seated at table 32, almost all the plates passed us are all gone. There is an option to order from the iPad but it is very limited option. Kids were so disappointed. Food quality is ok, we came here for experience but it's so bad
google avatar

Alef D.

Yelp
Went here for lunch on a weekday and was very disappointed in the revolving sushi portion. Everything looked like it had been sitting on the belt for a while so I had to order everything through the computer at my booth. The sushi is also rather overpriced for how much you get. Our ordering station at the booth also froze while we were ordering and took a restart to fix. An okay experience, but I don't think I will be back. Truly sad because I love the revolving sushi experience.
google avatar

Monica K.

Yelp
Tried the Kura revolving sushi bar in Austin, TX and was excited to see one in my area! I've been twice now and can officially say that I enjoy this one better than the one in Austin! The staff are welcoming, will explain everything to you when you done in the first time, and provide excellent service. You can order everything from the touch screen at your table, and the robot that brings you your drinks is so fun! The sushi is fresh and delicious and there is plenty of variety! My only complaint is I wish they had more non-soda, non-alcoholic drink options. I know I will be back several times!
google avatar

Danielle C.

Yelp
Kura is a perfect place for friends or family! Its revolving food bar makes it easy to try things you've never tasted before or indulge on your favorite bites. The staff were very friendly and the food was great!
google avatar

Tom T.

Yelp
I have to admit that I really enjoyed the style and execution of this place. The sushi is as expected (not mind blowing) but it is far from bad. Ordering a la carte is easy in case what you want isn't showing up on the conveyor. The staff were super friendly too.
google avatar

Paul J.

Yelp
Finally! Kura Sushi has opened at Federal Plaza! The variety is fresh and they have several dishes for non-sushi eaters (noodles, tempura, rice dishes, and plenty of desserts). A robot delivers your drinks, believe it or not. Best of all, a little prize drops in after 15 plates. Better hurry - the lines will be long in no time. Thank you Kura for bringing rotary sushi to the Pike!
google avatar

Anne W.

Yelp
Highly recommend for the experience because it's very fun with friends, but if you are picky about sushi, probably not the place to go. I went with my friends and we had 75 plates which got us 5 prizes. If you love pikmin you should definitely go while the Pikmin event is live. They have keychains, magnetic book marks, and a little figure. It's like a little gacha machine for every 15 plates.
google avatar

Spencer Y.

Yelp
As a chain, this Rockville kura holds true to the rest of the locations in dc and Tyson's. Some sushi are hits and some are really big misses. Best things to get are the seared scallop, seared salmon belly, and sweet shrimp. Those are the ones worth getting. Other than that, there's nothing that's too redeeming about this chain. The ones to avoid are the sea urchin and the yuzu seabream - those were abjectly stale. Food adds up quickly for the price of 3.70 for each 2 pieces of nigiri. The place is very busy like a factory, so the place gets pretty dirty and cluttered just like the other locations.
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
We went during soft opening there was a line around the side of the restaurant we were happy just to get seats after all the waiting at the individual seating area. We were greeted by a Japanese guy so we were hopeful the food would be authentic. The nigiris were good and the meat/fish was of good quality. They had the Pikmin promo for 15 plates a ball would be distributed and we got Pikmin magnetic bookmarks. For $70 or more we would get a nice promo Pikmin Kura tshirt so we spent a few more dollars we were too full from all the food. It was nice for this location to be opened no more driving to Tysons.
google avatar

Nicola M.

Yelp
Ambiance is cool with rotating sushi bar and food arriving from the belt. You can pick food from the belt or order from the tablet. Everything we tried was pretty good - special shout out to the popcorn shrimp roll
google avatar

Jason R.

Yelp
Wow I haven't had such a fun experience at a sushi place before. It was a lot of fun to watch the sushi roll by, with a lot of different choices and all done and presented perfectly. We got both a udon beef bowl and Novgorod ice cream, which come flying up on an express belt. Then the robot comes by with drinks. And the cost was good considering how much we ate. Seven sushi plates, udon, ice cream and free water was $53 with tax and tip. Here are some pics. Very intimate too, great for a couple.
google avatar

Stephen Y.

Yelp
I've been to 3 other Kura locations, so the conveyor belt concept isn't sparkly and new to me anymore. Out of the locations I've been to, this one was definitely not the best. I'm not sure if they're still trying to find their footing, but it opened a few months ago, so I feel like any wrinkles should be smoothed out by now. All Kura locations are pretty hands-off in terms of service; requests are made through a screen at your table and delivered by conveyor belts or robots (yes, robots). I think something is wrong with the call system at this location, though, because we had to call 4 times for wasabi, which I consider to be an important part of the flavor when eating sushi. We were ignored the first 3 times we called. Additionally, it seems like they're rationing the wasabi or something, because they gave us a literal dime-size portion of wasabi per person. By the time we received wasabi I had already finished 8 plates, so that was a bummer. Overall, the quality of the sushi I tried at this location was good, up to par with what I've had at other Kura locations. I always like the seared eel with miso cream cheese in particular. However, I was a little disappointed with the takoyaki because it barely had any sauce on it. Some of the selections I enjoyed at other locations weren't available at this location, which was an additional downside. I would probably choose other Kura locations over this one but unfortunately, this is the closest one for anyone in the county.

Yelp
This place is so fun! I came here with the Duchess and it's just plain silly and delightful. The food is reasonable and at times quite good. We especially liked the cucumber salad; it had no pepper flakes in it and this pleased the Duchess a lot. We loved the funky little chewy warabimochi as well as the softshell crab tempura, neither of which have we seen anywhere else around here. There was a seared octopus nigiri that was truly excellent. I feel like this is a terrific place for a squad night out or a casual date. Parking is good. Handicap access I would say is reasonable but the aisles are a little narrow. Update: OMFG THEY HAVE JAPANESE TOILETS WITH WARM BIDET I WOULD COME HERE JUST FOR THAT S THE HFRGFFUNGGDGHKLLB!!!???!!!!!
google avatar

Ken L.

Yelp
Wait time was about 35 min at 2pm during the soft opening on 10/5. Food options were great! Conveyor belt plates were $3.70 each. You could order premium options from the tablet or mobile ordering system and have it direct sent to you. If you didn't see what you wanted on the belt, you could also have it direct sent. This feature was pretty awesome because you don't have to worry about where you sit in the conveyor belt queue. Seared scallop was delicious. So was the seared mackerel and negitoro. Udon was quite tasty but that is on the premium option for about $10.50. My kid loved the masago. Every 15 plates you get a small prize, at $70 you get the pikmin x Kura collab shirt in size Large. Great soft opening! Staff was on the ball! Hoping best for the grand opening!

Samantha G.

Yelp
My family really loves Kura so we were really excited for it to open super close to us. First thing, we checked in and the ipad said 30-45min wait! That gave us hope, but after 50 min we got really worried. We ended up waiting 1hr and 10 minutes so we were upset that the wait time was misleading. We wouldn't have waited that long... I didn't want to take off too many stars because it was really busy but I think they should try and give a better estimate because other people will get furious over this. I do like that there were heaters outside. It was pretty hot which will be good for the winter months. Once we sat down, we got our food and it was pretty up to par with what we usually get. The lady helping us in our section was extremely nice and was always refilling our water. She would also grab the trash we had so the table wasn't too cluttered. I would definitely give this place a second chance but maybe once the hype dies down.
google avatar

Oscar C.

Yelp
They intentionally made you wait outside!! Been waiting for 30+ minutes, half the restaurant is empty and yet they don't let anyone in. I guess they wanted to create an illusion that being 'popular'. Food and revolving experiences are right at the price point but management needs to be improved

Cameryn G.

Yelp
Everything I had was amazing and well priced! Great variety on the menu and very easy to navigate even for people who have never been to this type of restaurant before! Tables were very clean and service was great!

Samantha L.

Yelp
Fun little spot, sushi was nice quality. Restaurant was clean. Remember to pace yourself if you go! A little robot brings your drinks after you order them but everything else comes from the revolving belt. All the plates going by are the same price while you can order appetizers, noodles, and specialty sushi from the tablet for a different price. After the first 15 plates you get a little capsule toy (we got a mini salmon avocado roll building block set). The only thing I didn't like is that no one came by to check on us. I suppose they mostly rely on the customer pressing the call server button. Overall I would definitely go back now that I know what to expect!
google avatar

Nicole D.

Yelp
Love the concept here! Every time I eat here, I always leave satisfied. Rotating sushi bar plus having select food your ordered delivered straight to you by a conveyor belt is amazing. No need for talking to people when you have your food delivered right to you, which is my kind of place. I also love how eating and depositing plates enables you to get rewards and little toys. The concept is great and they need more places like this. Place is nice!
google avatar

Jeremy R.

Yelp
Kura Sushi is a wonderful addition to the diverse range of foods we have in Rockville and the surrounding area. The outside had heating and seats which made the 30-minute wait a lot more bearable (this was on opening night). The options are plentiful and very unique, although the actual taste and quality are quite comparable to much cheaper options nearby. This is largely a place where cool gadgets and features like the revolving bar and robots are driving up the price. The reason for a four-star instead of five is I remember rolls such as the crunchy rolls and miso soup being too salty for my liking. It put me off to the point where I could not finish it, and this can be an objective problem for many others, especially when factoring in the smaller portion-price ratio. Still, other options like the seared beef and seared salmon nigiri were very good. The servers were nice and connected great with every age group, and it was very cool that the majority of the staff would greet you in Japanese. Overall, as many other reviewers would mention, this is a very "fun" experience and definitely something you should try one day. There's not much quite like it in the area! I hope the next time I come here it can be a five-star experience.
google avatar

Omonike A.

Yelp
So much fun here, plus fresh sushi! I would say that where you sit, matters. My friend and I sat in the back corner, and it seemed like all the sushi was empty by time it got to us. However, you can order off the menu vs just waiting for the next batch to come around. Overall, I will definitely be back and look forward to having another great time!
google avatar

Judy C.

Yelp
So excited that a location opened up in MD! Been to the Tysons and DC locations, and the Rockville location is way bigger and more spacious, which is great! The quality is what you'd expect from a conveyer belt place and for $3.75 a plate. They've got lots of variety, and ordering directly to your table keeps things moving fast. I highly recommend going and trying it out, but the plates add up quickly so don't treat this place like AYCE.
google avatar

Joshua D.

Yelp
Despite having minimal staff interaction, the staff still managed to be incredibly rude when my table asked questions. I've been to several other locations without any issues, but this one really had me heated. If you're just looking to experience revolving sushi, don't waste your time here--check out Uzu instead.

Yelp
My mom and I had lunch at Kura Revolving Sushi Bar in Federal Plaza. Since it was our first time, someone came by to explain how it works. We were seated in the middle. Drinks had to be ordered via the tablet. We shared a bottle of Moshi Sparkling Lychee Oolong Tea. In addition to this, we also got a cup of Hot Green Tea. By the time the items on conveyor belt passes by, most were empty. We found it easier to order by phone. Wasabi and pickled ginger was available upon request. We enjoyed 10 plates including Eel, Mackerel, Salmon Roe, Salmon Sashimi, Seared Beef with Yanikuku Sauce, Seared Hokkaido Octopus, Seared Salmon Japanese Mayo, Snow Crab California Roll, Tamago, Umami Cucumber Salad, and Waramochi. Since we didn't eat 15 plates, we didn't get a prize :( I wish they had more than three types of sashimi to order. The only way to pay was clicking the checkout button on the tablet and waiting for a server to process our payment. Don't forget to scan your mobile app rewards card to earn points for your purchase!

Yelp
Solid 3.5 stars. First visit to this shop; second visit to the chain (non-DMV area). This location offers lots of parking. A very nice heated waiting area outside. Electronic check-in. For a party of 6, we got seated relatively quickly. The check-in said 10-20 minutes. Food selection and quality was decent. Pricing is easy since the plates off the belt are all priced the same at $3.70. Not terribly expensive or cheap. Don't expect thick cut slices and you shouldn't be disappointed. There is a tablet mounted above your table that you can make orders. The response time is fast. You can also call the servers through the tablet. Servers were attentive when needed, no complaints. Hot dishes, sides, and dessert available at higher than sushi plate prices. A robot brings your drinks. Not rating down because of it but the robot happened to spill all our waters on the way to our table... no biggie; was more funny than anything. Also, we had a party of 5 and a child. While the booth could fit 3 smaller people on a bench, it's really not an ideal set up in my opinion for a party of greater than 4. If you are 2 or 3 people, I would, in fact, encourage counter seats since its fun and convenient to face the belt and be able to grab plates your self. The plates are tricky until you get the hang of removing them. You also get to drop plates into a slot to dispose and count them for your bill.. and every 15 plates gets you a little gatcha prize. My go-to sushi dishes are salmon, scallop, and amaebi. Hard to find places with amaebi so its definitely a pro. Mildy fishy. This is definitely best when it hasn't been going around in circles. Scallops tasted very fresh though. We tried various things. My big do NOT recommend was the warabimochi. The texture was just super off. It's missing the bounce or gooeyness. Instead, it melts in your mouth but not supposed to. I would be most likely to come back here if I'm trying to satisfy a craving with nothing too fancy or quick bite when dining alone (if no wait).

Yelp
I have been to the Kura in Chinatown D.C. and Virginia so I was super excited for a location MUCH closer to me! There is a ton of parking and as usual, the sushi, rolls, ramen, and desserts are amazing. I just wish they had more drink options, but I also know Kura tends to have very limited drink options so I was not too surprised. Out of all Kura locations I've been to, this has been the slowest when it comes to ordering on the ipad to get your food items directly to you, but it wasn't a long wait either... just noticed it was a tad but slower than the other locations :) If this location can provide more drink options somehow, it would be AMAZING!

Yelp
A cute robot brings water straws and wasabi to your table. We didn't have to wait for a table so getting food couldn't be quicker. Just pull it off the conveyor belt as soon as you see something you want. You can also order items from the touch screen tablet at the table. The ordered items come directly to the table on a second conveyor belt. Couldn't be more efficient. Every item was $3.75. I was disappointed that the rice wasn't true sushi rice like the Kura locations in Japan and Las Vegas have. I order mainly hand rolls and I was looking forward to having good sushi rice in them. Oh well, I guess you get what you pay for. Would have given 5 stars otherwise. My family loves getting the little charms that you get for ordering at least 15 or 25 items. Good fun.

Yelp
I had so much fun here and I can't wait to come back. We had to wait a bit on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn't too bad. Loved the conveyor belt, the novelty of everything coming around/picking your own food, the drink robot (!!!), and how efficient everything was. The express conveyor belt was cute too, even though the ordered food took a bit to come out. The gacha machine was fun, too; we ate 37 plates and got 3 prizes. The fish is very fresh and good quality, so I was confused about some of the other reviews comparing it to grocery store sushi ... I think my only complaint is that some of the maki plates seemed priced a little steep ($3.75 for 3 pieces), but the nigiri prices balanced that out. The negitoro was SO good.

Yelp
I've been to the Tyson's location. Happy to have Kura in Rockville now. Solid spot for scallop, sweet shrimp but I didn't like anything else. I would not recommend getting uni here. It taste like the ones you get from hmart but that's expected given the price you pay. They had hot food options too if you're not a fan of raw fish.

Yelp
We are regulars at the Tysons Kura, and wanted to check out the Rockville Kura with our MD friends. Overall, this Kura is very much the same as other locations, but is bigger and cleaner (so far) than the Tysons location, there are also heat lamps outside for while you wait, which is a nice touch! Their are far more servers here, too, which makes it easier to get refills of wasabi, soy sauce, etc. The quality of the fish is okay - I think Kura has gone down a bit in quality but up in price. That said, we will be back to try again in the future.

Yelp
So happy that they open a Kura closer to home! Walked in and was greeted with friendly staffs. They went over how it works and off to eating we go! The variety of sushi isn't large but the quality of the fish is fresh. We also ordered udon, karaage and sesame balls which were all good. Will definitely come back for more! My mom who is a picker eater also enjoyed it

Yelp
The novelty of the conveyor belt and drinks robot is very fun. The food was good though I'd probably wait another week for the kinks to be worked out (they just opened days ago); a few items were very cold. The service was excellent with attentive waiters who shout welcome in Japanese when people walk in. One complaint, $3.70 for a small cup of green tea is ludicrous.
