Kurant Wine Bar

Came for the three-course lunch special and unfortunately it was not good. The salmon was diced into very small cubes, and the flavor profile with the white wine was a bit odd. It tasted like vinegar and fish, also had a slight odor that was off putting. Decided not to opt for the dessert, due to the mediocre taste of the rest of the meal. The music was nice, and the server was very friendly. Would likely only come back for a drink, but not to dine in.

I had veggie quesadilla (add shrimps) and cocktails. Quesadilla was delicious! Must try. Cocktails 3/5 not really my taste but they have a lot of wine selection. I would say when I’m in this area will be good to stop by one more time.

Amazing service with great food as well. We were booking a last minute brunch for a large table and Kurant was the only spot with a table. Overall we had great service along with delicious food. On top of that, the bottomless brunch was affordable and great.

Be cautious and check your bill carefully! I visited last night with two friends around 7:30 PM after dinner, we ordered a bottle of wine and stayed for a while. The bar was relatively slow, with a couple of empty tables and unused bar seats throughout the night. When the bill came, a 20% gratuity was automatically added without any prior notice. I asked the server if it was standard to charge 20% gratuity for a party of three, and she claimed it was due to us staying for 2 hours and the holiday season bringing in many tourists. However, we were not informed about this policy at any point, and I almost left an additional 20% tip unknowingly. The server offered to remove the tip from the bill after we complained, but we told her it was fine to leave the tip this time since we had a good time there. However, we suggested they add a notice on the menu or inform customers about the policy in the future. While I had no issue leaving a 20% tip on my own, being forced into it without transparency felt wrong. Clear communication about such charges would go a long way. Just make sure double check your receipt .

One of my favorite places. Food is fantastic, great wine Choices. Staff are always helpful the Brussel sprouts, octopus, Mac and cheese, and tuna tartar are my favorites.

This place has an amazing wine and cheese plate for a great price. I will admit, I'm not a particularly discerning customer. I could be wrong. But the prices are reasonable and the vibes are pleasant. I was a very happy customer.

What can I say happy hour was the best thing I have found in the upper east side. This cute little place is the perfect place to go for happy hour. The wine selections for happy hour will not disappoint for sure. We ended up coming back to this place a couple time while in town cause how can you pass up a $8 wine glass for happy hr in nyc.

Came here with friends! We made a reservation, but we really didn't need to as it wasn't busy when we went. We decided to split everything and it was all delicious, however the portions were a bit small and we wished it was just a little more honestly. We also did bottomless mimosas and our server was the sweetest and kept topping us off without having to flag her down. The inside of the restaurant is cute and cozy with a bar.

A local place to stop by for a casual bite and a drink. They have some out door seating and happy hour in the whole restaurant and on weekends which is always a plus. The bartender was very friendly and made a nice aperol spritz. For food, we had the gnocchi and Shrimp pesto pasta which were average. Overall, its a cute place to stop by for a drink.

This was a decent choice for brunch. I had the huevos rancheros, which came with beans and eggs on a tostada, and a salad on the side. It needed a bit of hot sauce, but was otherwise fine. Portions are small, but the entree was only $16, which is on the lower side for brunch. Worth it for a low key meal.

Fun neighborhood wine bar. Andreas was over spectacular bartender and made an amazing spritzer. They have great drink specials. It's super cute and clean. I love the mood and lighting and the bathroom is clean with really nice candles.

Found this great little place in upper midtown. It was obviously date night as almost every table were couples and even at the bar!! Food was great. Service was good. Music a little too loud for the crowd. I dont know why restaurants cant see the vibe amongst the crowd. This was date night!! Music should have been barely audible

Stopped in here for lunch. The fried zucchini was perfectly crispy and dipping sauce was the ideal contrast, the avocado toast was basic but good. The bar menu offers a great range of options of cocktails, liquors and wines. They also have a happy hour promotions. I went with the Bloody Mary which was just ok. Service was prompt, fast and friendly, the waiter made sure we always had everything we needed. The exterior seating was not ideal, too busy on the street for my taste, a bit of a regrettable choice, you feel like you're literally eating in the street.

dined at Kurant for brunch and there were a couple smaller tables toward the back. We were seated with no reservation immediately. I split the Huevos Rancheros and Salmon Benedict. I thought that the huevos rancheros were just okay, not much flavor to the dish but the tortilla chip remained crunchy by the end of the meal. Similarly, I thought the benedict wasn't very impressive either. The hollandaise sauce was creamy and good. My sister said that the coffee tasted bad. There was the tiniest side of toasted potatoes and fresh salad. Overall, the dishes were appropriately priced but there was nothing to write home about and was left a bit disappointed. They have a bottomless brunch cocktail for 90 minutes (mimosa, bellini, screwdriver, and bloody mary).

Love this cute wine bar! Has nice ambiance for a date but can get a bit loud sometimes. They have a good selection of wine and they do happy hour! The food is just ok, I prefer to get just wine there.

My fiancé & I stumbled upon this spot while heading home. We were very hungry and in the mood for a quick bite. The host who was also the bartender seated us right away. She was attentive and the food didn't take long to come out. We shared the bacon wrapped grilled shrimps and the bacon Mac and cheese. I loved the consistency of the mac and also loved the base sauce for the shrimp. My fiancé would've liked the bacon on the shrimps crispier but all in all we did enjoy our bites and agreed we'd like to come back soon for a date night. Their menu is really enticing especially for wine pairings

The expresso martinis hit the spot at 4pm on a Thursday afternoon right before getting on the tramway to explore Roosevelt island! The bartender was great & the decor is a vibe.

After I got my hair did at T-Gardens, I stopped by here for a wine-infused dinner. I wasn't expecting much--typical Mediterranean-esque wine bar food for basic people named Tiffany whose favorite "ethnic" cuisine is Italian. I was flabbergasted. The food here was so, so much better than I could've imagined, and so much better than any other wine bar I've tried in the city. We shared the Beet Salad, Grilled Octopus Salad and Salmon Fettuccine. Good lord. First, the two salads were humongous and filled with the fresh salad veggies we all need to, like, be healthy and go #2 and stuff. But also, they were so effing tasty. Lightly dressed, tangy and springy, and in the case of the Octopus, accompanied by delicious roasted vegetables. The Salmon Fettucine brought a creamy tomato sauce as its date, and between the thick, chewy noodles, generous chunks of salmon, and aforementioned sauce, it was an experience in pasta heaven. I still have yet to find my ultimate pasta restaurant, but this dish is going on my top 20 list. Service was fun and easy, as we sat at their very long, very lovely bar. It's almost criminal that there weren't more people here on a Monday night, but also, the quiet makes it so easy to dine solo or enjoy an intimate conversation.

Me and a friend walked by this place last week during the day. Everything in the neighborhood was closed, so we were pleasantly surprised that it was open - and with happy hour deals. We got the $5 bottled beers. Unfortunately they weren't serving food. But to our surprise the bartender was also a chef. We ordered the duck pate and the branzino. The pate tasted like, well, pate (borderline cat food). Yet we managed to eat the whole thing. (Mee-oww.) The branzino portions were generous and delicious. If you're in midtown during the day and don't know where to turn, I highly recommend this place.

One of my favorite wine bars in the area - I have been here multiple times with friends and brought two coworker events to Kurant. Happy hour is from 4-6PM $8 select wines, and the only comment I have is I wish happy hour was until at least 7PM! They have good selection of shared bites and the atmosphere is nice for a wine bar. Service is great as well - will be back!

Went here to say farewell to friends. We were sitting in the back where it was quite dark, and very noisy so a little difficult to have a good conversation. The waiter was helpful with suggesting a wine which I enjoyed. I wouldn't recommend it for any conversation other than talking about your day at work. I will go back though as the perfect place to stop on my walk home from work and recommend it if you want to have a quick drink with friends after work. I knocked a star off as I just found it odd how dark it was toward the back. As it is so noisy I wouldn't sit back there if you were on your first or second date.

decent is the best word i can use for this place. upon walking in it felt much more divey than i expect a wine bar to be - tvs on the wall, packed and loud but not in a refined way. i went for dinner and the food was good - the cheese board was fantastic and the salmon fettuccine was good in flavor but a bit weird in design. i expected a fillet but it was cubes of salmon which i've never seen before, and the fettuccine pasta was cut into small pieces. sauce was delicious though! the wine was great, and cocktails were strong. i think this place is good but not what one typically wants from a wine bar - just something to keep in mind!

Came here on a beautiful spring afternoon for one of their outdoor tables and service was really slow to begin with, we didn't get a waitress for at least 10-15 minutes even though they acknowledged and saw us 2 sit at our table. I don't recommend sitting outside since you're right smack in the side of the sidewalk where there's too much foot traffic. Way too close for comfort at times. Tried one of their cocktails: Brazilian cosmo : and it tasted a bit too strong on the fruity vodka side (maybe it was just my taste) but I did not get a second one. I got the burger and they definitely undercooked it even though I requested medium, but the service ended up being better and our waitress was friendly. Maybe I'd come back to try their wine selection since they are a wine bar.

A perfect spot to drop by after work grab a drink and a bite to eat ! You can sit down grab a seat and have a meal but they have such a nice bar with good cocktails. I got a whiskey sour (my favorite) and some prosciutto with burrata. Everything was good but could do without the bread or atleast different bread this was giving a little kids grilled cheese sandwich bread lol but other then that it was delicious and the workers were super friendly.

Cute wine bar, perfect date a lot vibes. Good variety of wine and small bites to much on. I ended up with a burger because I was starving - it was cooked the way I asked and had a good amount of flavor, while it didn't wow me completely I couldn't complain. I did upgrade for the garlic fries, def worth it! My friend got the gnocchi which she said was simple and tasty! The bartender was friendly and attentive, I'd definitely come back. I heard they have a good happy hour so would like to try that next!

A spot right down the block from our apartment that it took us far too long to make it to. My husband and I went for a casual dinner on Tuesday night and really enjoyed our experience. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. We sat inside but with the doors open it was still possible to enjoy the summer evening. I had the after eight, and it was fantastic!! As was my Caesar salad wrap, and the option for garlic fries was happily accepted! We will definitely be back! Perhaps to try out their Monday night happy hour

Came here for a quick brunch with friends and we thoroughly enjoyed Kurant. The sign outside is vintage but inside is very charming and intimate. All the brunch items were delicious - especially the Smoked Salmon Club - and the cocktails were quite affordable.

Still a great spot to come for Happy hour and they have outdoor seating after covid. The wine is $8 on Happy Hour which is still a great deal. The meat and cheese boards are perfect for splitting and you can make a reservation on the Seated app!

Service and food preparation are ridiculously slow and delayed, but everything else seems to be working right. Kurant is a cozy neighborhood wine bar with bar, table, and bigger table seating. They have a very detailed wine menu along with tons of food options, ranging from calamari to burgers to salads. I was seated immediately and shared the shrimp tartare and the seared tuna salad. They took forever to arrive - maybe more than thirty minutes - but when they did, they were great. Both dishes are light and fresh. The tartare had a lot of avocado as the base, and the salad had three pieces of tuna on top of greens and sliced avocado. Didn't get any wine, so I can't vouch for that, but everyone seemed to be enjoying. I just wish the server was more present and that the food didn't take so long. Otherwise, it's a cute place to kick back and hang out with others.

First things first. Contrary to what you/I might have read, note the following: Happy hour ends at 7 p.m. and not 8. Select wine is $8 per glass and not $7. Now that I've cleared that up, I/we truly enjoyed my/our first time visit at Kurant. I stumbled upon it on Yelp and was excited to check it out. Everything that was mentioned in other reviews was spot on: *great homey ambiance with exposed brick. Cozy, adorable and welcoming. *amazing music---70's, 80's, contemporary and Motown (hello Aretha Franklin)---need I say more? *attentive service. Never an empty water glass. *really good food/reasonable prices. $90 for 2. Apps/desserts excluded. The menu was diverse from apps & cheese/meat plates to burgers and mains. I think there was something here for everyone. As far as wine, my first glass was a Sauvignon Blanc. I didn't love it at all. I quickly switched to a Pinot Grigio for my 2nd glass and it went down way too smoothly. Superb. For main, we chose the salmon burger and pesto pasta. The salmon burger looked amazing and got 2 thumbs up although I didn't try it. My selection was the pesto pasta. I was concerned it might be too creamy but it wasn't. Picture a heavenly, hearty bowl of ziti with 4 jumbo shrimp, grape tomatoes, asparagus enveloped in a pesto coating that was ridiculously delicious. The pasta was a good sized portion at $20 while the salmon burger was only $16, served with a choice of plain or garlic fries The cuisine is American and many plates being served to other tables looked really good. I'd like to try the salmon entree or organic chicken breast next time. We really enjoyed the overall experience at Kurant. Fun, romantic, pleasant or whatever mood you're seeking, Kurant fits the bill. It is your choice with your company. Looking forward to my next visit.

They charged me $7 for an orange juice I didn't even want to drink because I sat down for 10 minutes to make a business call. I paid it but sheesh that's greedy. It's not like the place was packed there were only 3 people there at 4:20pm on a Wednesday. Don't be so money hungry.

Cute place with quick and efficient service. Menu is all over the place (seems mostly Italian, then random things like guacamole, then pâté... ). I think this restaurant would benefit from downsizing the enormous number of items and having a more curated menu. They being said the service was very good and the food (veggie quesadillas and pasta) were very good. They have a reasonable wine selection. Most of the people here around 6pm on a weeknight appear to be midtown corporate types - definitely a local happy hour spot.

Not impressed at all! Super crowded indoor dining on St patty's day. All tables were filled, not 6 feet apart and there was a group of 8 sitting behind me. They did have happy hour specials on select wine for $8. Food was below average; we ordered the Brussel sprouts, crispy artichokes and the Parma panini to share. Portions were so small for the price. Brussels $12 were bland and barely cooked. Crispy artichokes $10 were good, but isn't everything fried delicious? Parma panini $15 was a lot of bread and arugula with little meat/cheese. $50 meal including tip for each of us with 2 glasses of wine and I left feeling still hungry. Skip this place!

The food is always good. Love the APs and tuna salad. And the steak. Happy Hours too. Can get loud but a fun casual place to hang with friends.

During normal times, when I walk into a restaurant and find the place completely empty, it doesn't make me excited to stay. But for indoor brunch during COVID times, we were thrilled to have the whole place to ourselves. A couple additional tables filled up during our meal, but the staff were mindful about spacing us apart and there are partitions separating the tables. If you're looking for a great brunch deal, I don't think Kurant can be beat; entrees are $12-$22, cocktails $8, with an option for boozy brunch $21pp. I mean, amazing! The food and drinks are not mind-blowing, but still very tasty. I had the Bloody Mary, which was a little bitter, but in all fairness, it might have been bc I had been chewing gum 20 minutes prior. For my entree, I had the Croque Madame, which was delicious, but not at all your standard Croque Madame. The sandwich was made with bacon instead of ham, and I believe swiss cheese instead of gruyere. Our server Jana was great. Super attentive and friendly despite the pressures of working in a restaurant, indoors, during a pandemic.

For a wine bar, Kurant has really good food and a very large menu outside of the traditional "bar foods." There are a lot of fish / seafood items including four tartares. We got the meatballs (good), duck pate (good), steak tartare (great), and octopus salad (phenomenal). Chocolate mousse cake for desert was also yummy. Service was also good. The inside has more of a sports bar look to it, but the menu is surprisingly elevated. It's also incredibly reasonably priced and very large portions for what you get. The Brazilian cosmo was also very good. Would definitely come back.

Pleasant experience eating outdoors here when dining was primarily outdoor in NYC. The prosciutto panini was excellent, simple but executed well. Grabbed a drink more recently and the vibes were great. Fair price points and good service on top of the food. 3.5 round up to 4 cause of the great vibes inside as well.

Once again, serendipity. Intent on a specific middle eastern restaurant with a group of hungry NY'ers, we discovered that the published and actual hours of operation differed. Wandering up 2nd Ave, we stumbled upon Kurant. Though the menu was not our first choice, all 5 of us found something appealing, so we entered and ordered. Operated by two bar staff members, they quickly attended to us. Both were smiling, extremely pleasant and patient. After placing our food order, we stuck around for a drink. The bar staff continued to cordially interact with us until the food was ready to go. Then, without cracking her smile, our primary server double checked our order, gave us plenty of utensils and napkins, then sent us on our way. Already after 9, we planned to eat in Central Park, but with a crowd of protestors collected in our path, we opted instead to stop and sit on public benches outside the Apple store, across from the Plaza. I can not speak for my 4 companions fare, but they all reported positively and seemed to enjoy their meals. Mine was excellent. Penne pasta slathered in a tasty pesto with large shrimp and cherry tomatoes. Though it had been sitting in an aluminum container for more than 15 minutes, my dish was still hot and moist; and, somehow the penne was optimally al dente. Despite the pressures of the last 100 days in isolation, the kitchen and bar staff of Kurant stepped up without anxiety or attitude. When table service resumes, I look forward to being treated to another meal with the same friendly service and quality.

Do not go to Kurant for their food despite yelp reviews. I read the reviews and took out their Short ribs and Salmon and meatballs appetizer and was very disappointed. Their are professional chefs with their own restaurants within blocks of Kurant which draws discerning clienteles for their cuisine and consistent high standards. There are even a few with their own cookbooks. There's nothing wrong going to Kurant for a quick drink after work for it's proximity and maybe a little bite .

The food is tasty and adequately seasoned. Wine list is well priced but somewhat limited. The bartender had to take care of the tables as well (it was Sunday night,not many customers) which makes service a little bit spotty and not consistent. Definitely a go back to place

The saddest avocado toast I've ever seen. It was a small smear, the volume of maybe a quarter or an avocado. Nothing aside from a piece of toast and a smear of avocado, lol. The salad was like a premix from the grocery tossed with some dressing, again with nothing else added to it. Seriously a little incredulous. This wouldn't fly in any restaurant, but in NYC? WOW. I have a hard time believing it if I didn't see it in person.

Somewhat disappointing American food/burger place with not as tasty food as the otherwise busy restaurant would suggest. $12 a dish. 3.25/5 stars as a dinner spot.

Brunch! Kurant has found their sweet spot in brunch. The hus, got the burger and I got the croque madam. All were delicious and proportioned well. But the really shining part was the bottomless aspect. Mimosa, Bellini, screwdrivers, and Bloody Marys for 90 minutes and all incredibly reasonable priced. In a post-covid world, we're all doing our best and Kurant has partitions, spacing, and great service. Bravo!

Came here with a few of my friends after work for happy hour! The happy hour includes wine and beer only. I must say the pour is large for a happy hour beverage, but to be honest at $8 for a glass of happy hour wine, it seems more expensive then other places in the area. We got the cheese plate, Brussels, fries, and spinach dip. The Brussels were good, but nothing spectacular. The cheese plate was pretty tiny for the price (you get like 2oz of cheese), but the fries were reallyyyy good though, so I recommend those! Overall, I would give this 3.5 stars. It's a decent place but a bit pricy.
