Kurulu Bay is an amazing property. From the stunning landscape to the perfect location, everything about this place is beautiful. The food is truly top-notch, and the service throughout our stay was excellent. You’ll likely meet Peter, who runs the hotel; he is incredibly welcoming and ensures a great experience. If you are in Ahangama, this is a must-stay. We highly recommend it and will definitely be back! Love, G&K

Our stay at Kurulu Bay was the final stop on our trip, and it was absolutely flawless. The atmosphere is incredibly serene, and we felt taken care of from the moment we arrived. A huge thank you to the wonderful team - especially Petar and Tijana - for their warm and attentive service. We stayed in a wonderful villa surrounded by expansive, lovely grounds that make you feel completely immersed in nature. We particularly loved the new yoga shala overlooking the lake; the yoga and Pilates classes there were excellent. A big shout-out to the food and drinks team as well - we never felt tempted to leave the property during our entire 4-day stay. It was the perfect place to unwind, and I highly recommend their spa services. The Ayurvedic treatments were fantastic, and I can still feel the relaxation from the marma point massage. We really hope to come back one day! 🙏

Kurulu Bay is a lovely resort with beautiful scenery and great food. The local staff in the restaurant were really sweet and smiley. As a well-travelled, couple in our early 40s, we noticed that the crowd here is mostly under 35 and mostly digital nomads with a hippieish vibe. While we appreciate different crowds, the tone also felt a bit serious—there wasn’t much laughter or joy around, aside from the friendly locals working at the restaurant. We were also one of the very few, not sporting the baggy pant look. The management staff were kind and polite, and definitely follow an alternative lifestyle. We were also a bit surprised that yoga classes aren't included and come with extra charges, which is unusual for wellness resorts we've visited. Plus, the pool areas weren't really set up for anyone looking for a solid swim. Would we go back? Probably not, but it wasn’t a terrible experience—it just wasn’t really our scene. Different strokes for different folks, and for those who vibe with this place, it might be just what they’re looking for! Still giving it 4 stars as there was nothing wrong, maybe it’s just me being a traditional grumpy Yorkshireman who likes a ham and cheese sandwich every now and again.

Kurulu Bay is an absolute gem and one of the best travel experiences I’ve had. Surrounded by nature and far from busy roads, the setting is peaceful, calming, and incredibly beautiful. The rooms are spacious and well maintained—and I was lucky enough to receive an upgrade with a private swimming pool, which made the stay even more memorable. Evenings at Kurulu Bay feel magical, with fireflies lighting up the surroundings and friendly monkeys wandering around the property. The whole environment is serene and relaxing, perfect for anyone looking to unwind. Breakfast deserves a special mention: healthy, filling, and delicious. It’s obvious that care goes into every detail here. Worth every penny. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Sri Lanka!

We didn’t stay overnight, but we enjoyed the Christmas dinner here. The staff was very attentive, and the food was good – served quickly. What truly impressed us was the location: right in the middle of fireflies, on a spacious grounds with palm trees by the lake – simply magical!

Kurulu Bay — A Dream Place Our favourite stay in Sri Lanka. Truly the most beautiful and welcoming place we have ever been to. Kurulu Bay is built in the heart of the jungle, preserving every tree and shaping each room around nature. This thoughtful design has created a harmonious relationship between guests and wildlife — from the friendly monkeys that greet you in the morning to the magical fireflies that light your path at night. Despite being surrounded by untamed nature, the gardens are exquisitely maintained, full of perfectly trimmed flowers and lush greenery that blend seamlessly with the tasteful, minimalistic architecture and interior design. Almost every corner of the property offers breathtaking views of the lake — simply stunning. We were fortunate to stay in a Tree House, which gave us complete privacy and was located close to the second pool — a tranquil spot we often had entirely to ourselves. The service was impeccable. Petar and Tjana, who manage the hotel, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, constantly ensuring that we were enjoying our stay to the fullest. They provided wonderful recommendations and organized activities tailored to our interests. Everyone at the property — from the gardeners and cooks to the waiters and housekeeping staff — was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. The restaurant was one of the highlights of our experience. The waiters were thoughtful and attentive, remembering every little detail from previous meals to personalize the service each day. We had the pleasure of trying nearly every dish on the menu, and not a single one disappointed — each was delicious and beautifully presented. (And coming from Basques, we can say we know good food when we taste it!) We also indulged in a massage, which was excellent and deeply relaxing. Although we didn’t get the chance to join the yoga classes — held every morning and afternoon — the yoga pavilion itself, overlooking the serene lake, looked truly special. The waves were perfect during our stay, so we couldn’t resist spending as much time surfing as possible. Overall, discovering this place has been a dream. We leave with full hearts (and full stomachs), already hoping to return very soon.
