The Best Restaurants In Eagle Rock - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Kusina Filipina has the energy of a divey comedy club, but a fun night of karaoke or standup here isn't the full Kusina experience. Ordering from the food menu filled with more Filipino hits than a Regine Velasquez album is a must, too. The crunchy pork sisig spritzed with calamansi is perfect for one, but if your crew needs a mid-night-out bite, Kusina has more sizable options like the chicken adobo and crispy pata liberally seasoned with black pepper." - brant cox, sylvio martins

Saweetie’s Favorite Restaurants In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"“Kusina is a comfort spot for me. I order their sinigang and it feels like my childhood. It was my favorite dish in my childhood. It's a whole bunch of veggies: you either pick fish or meat. I like mine with milkfish. It's not as spicy as the Thai restaurant’s soup, but it's sweet and sour. Because I live far from it, it's definitely a meal that I have to order beforehand because it takes a long time to get to my house, but it's well worth the wait.”" - brennan carley

The food is incredible, taste just like how my auntie and my lola makes it. The service is awesome, they have a good crew. The restaurant looks splendid, and the do live music. Love it here.

First time visiting this part of Ca and friends took us here. Wife is Filipino and said this is by far the best Filipino food she has ever ordered in a restaurant. We ordered the fried platter and my wife was in heaven. We all ate to much lol. I'm not a big fan of some of the food but the clean plate picture posted was mine:). Great place. Definitely on our go to list when we come back this side.

Last night, my partner and I went out to eat and decided to try a dish called dinakdakan. However, we were surprised to find that it was made with liempo (pork belly), which was unexpected. While the cream or sauce in the dinakdakan was actually quite good, this was the first time I’ve ever encountered a version of it that used liempo as the main meat. It didn’t really taste like the traditional dinakdakan I know. I also ordered chicken tinola, but unfortunately, it didn’t taste good at all. It was very different from the usual tinola I’m used to, and I was honestly disappointed with it. The only dish I truly enjoyed that night was the beef caldereta—that one was flavorful and cooked just right. Even the rice they served was hard and not properly cooked, which made the meal less enjoyable. To make things worse, the music at the place was extremely loud—it felt like my eardrums were about to burst. It was hard to enjoy the food and have a conversation because of the noise. Overall, it wasn’t the best dining experience, but at least the caldereta saved the night a little.

First time here. Ordered to go. Food seemed fresh. We only ordered 3 items but 2x for each. Chicken BBQ: 10 out of 10. Good flavor. Chicken was tender. Pancit Canton: 8 out of 10. Good flavor. Not enough for the price. Overall taste was good. Would order again. Chicken Adobo: 6 out of 10. Didn’t have enough flavor. Was just mild overall. Not enough chicken. So was just ok. Prices: not cheap not expensive. But the portions are small. Flavor was overall good. But they could punch it up a bit on all the dishes we had.

When I travel to LA and dine out, I always go for Chinese or Korean as there are a plethora of these types of restaurants. But this time I wanted to try a different type of Asian food, so my friend suggested Filipino. I honestly didn't know what to expect. The waiter made some recommendations and OMG!!! I had Lumpia, which are spring rolls filled with meat. Crispy pata, which is pork with a super crunchy skin. BBQ pork skewers and Sisig, which is also pork served on a hot skillet with a flavour I cannot describe. All served with a side of rice. For dessert, it was banana wrapped in spring roll wrapper, drizzled with toffee/caramel with a scoop of Ube ice cream. The biggest surprise was a dessert called Halo Halo, which is shredded ice mixed with sweet fillings (not sure what they are but tasted goo) topped with another scoop of Ube ice cream and creme brulé and drizzled with evaporated milk. The only thing that wasn't eaten was the lettuce leaf that was used as a garnish so it's evident that my family and I enjoyed the food. I will certainly return.

My Turkish boss has been exposing me to new cuisines. This was my first time trying filipino food. I am latina so I wasn’t expecting a huge difference, but I can taste the spices difference. Everything was served searing hot & full hearty portions. Everything was definitely delicious. We had multiple dishes between four of us - some I didnt get pictures if. I do remember trying the grilled octopus, which was my least fav dish. It was very charred which my coworker told me is the filipino way, but it was to hard to chew for me. I could get past the charred but maybe if it was cut into smaller pieces? Instead of one whole tentacle. My favorite dish was the dessert. I’ve never tasted anything like that. The aloe cubes & kidney beans surprised me. It was delicious. Overall recommend.

Tops in entertainment and Philippine cuisine! One of few Filipino restaurant that consistently deliver good quality food with options to cater individual preference as most dishes are offered in beef, pork, chicken and/or seafood/shrimp variation. Servers are most friendly and the crowd is always lively. Do come early as the place fills quickly with some tables reserved!

Google
Whoa where do I start!!! The food here was all perfect!! I love Filipino food but this was the best I’ve ever had.. EVER! although I have never been to PI.. but as the wife of a Filipina, I have experience in Filipino food and can tell what’s good and what isn’t. We ordered 4 scoops of rice, Lechon Kawali, dinakdakan, sinigang nan bangus and fresh lumpia. The fresh lumpia was so good! It was delicious and the flavors were perfect! Not too over powering or too sweet, it was just right! The lechon kawali was tender and fried to perfection! The pieces weren’t too hard but still gave that perfect satisfying crunch. The dinakdakan had so much flavor and veggies without over doing it and the dish was just perfect! The rice was cooked perfect and the sinigang had amazing flavor, not too strong but just right! And when you take that first sip, you feel that weight lifted off your shoulders because it reminds you of a simpler time.. everything was amazing! Delicious and comforting!

Yelp
At first glance, Kusina Filipina looks small from the outside, but once you step in, the space opens up. The style is very typical of a Filipino restaurant--simple and a little eclectic, like dining at your auntie's house filled with antiques and mismatched furniture. The layout is a bit unusual, with the kitchen tucked in the middle behind the bar and the stage set all the way at the back. But honestly, we didn't come for the décor--we came for the food and the music. We ordered the fried meat and grilled meat platter, along with Beef Bulalo, Pancit, and crispy Dinuguan. Every dish came out piping hot, portions were generous, and everything tasted fresh and delicious. The service was quick and attentive, and the prices were more than fair considering the amount of food served. To top it off, the music was fantastic! The Shifting Crew was performing that night, and they really set the tone for a fun evening. Overall, Kusina Filipina is all about good food, good vibes, and supporting our fellow kababayans. Highly recommend--try it, you won't regret it!

Yelp
We tried this place for the first time last night with my daughter, it was crowded because of a birthday party. To me they should have close the place down for a private party because there was not enough servers to cater to other people . I didn't expect that the prices were so expensive but we wanted to try it anyway. Food was mediocre . My fault was I didn't check the bill, I just signed it because the place was hectic . What got me so infuriated was when I checked the bill at home , I was overcharged. Every item on the bill was higher than what was listed on the menu. I called them the next day and asked why the items cost more than what was listed on the menu. The person who I spoke to stated they charge more when there is a band. I have never heard of that. Our server never mentioned food items would cost more when there is a band and the menu did not state it either. Another thing, this place added automatic 18% gratuity for just the 2 people in which I wasn't able to catch it because it was late already and to top if off the receipt I signed asked for another gratuity that I unfortunately added, total of $32 just tip alone ... the total price for just me and my daughter was $124 just for 3 items. Talk about price gouging! Check your bill, everyone! Do better, Kusina Filipina!

Yelp
Had a great time here! The service and food were great! We got the crispy kare kare and loved the dish! Same with the Pancit and all our other dishes! We also received a halo halo and the ube ice cream that came with it was so good!
google avatar

Mama G.

Yelp
MY friends and I went there on Friday, 9/12/25, for dinner and to listen to the band. We ordered our dinner before it got busy. It took almost 1 hour to get our order. There were only 2 tables full of patrons when we ordered. Service is below par. Could not find our server half the time. Worse part is when I got the check, I was overcharged. Every item on the bill was higher than what was listed on the menu. My friend called them the next day and asked why the items cost more than what was listed on the menu. The person she spoke with stated they charge more when there is a band. I have never heard of that. Our server never mentioned food items would cost more when there is a band and the menu did not state it either. No remedy was offered. Talk about price gouging! Food was mediocre. Nothing to write home about. Check your bill, everyone! Do better, Kusina Filipina!

Yelp
Yummy Filipino dishes!! They had live music this night, and it was super loud so just be prepared for that. Other than that the food is delicious.

Yelp
We always go to Kusina Filipina for their Shanghai Lumpia for frien, family gatherings. Delicious!!! Service is typically quick & respectful. Ambiance is good for parties & gathering.. they often have live musical performances.

Yelp
The food was excellent. We dined as a family so we got to eat a little bit of everything. The portion sizing was good. All the items in the fried meat platter had great texture and bite. The lechon kawali was succulent and yummy with the sauce. The laing was really well done and not as bitter as I'm used to- the shrimp in it was really clean and it had that delicious fluffy bouncy texture too. It's one of the best laings I've eaten. We had three fresh lumpias and the vegetables they put in it were yummy too. The other food was great and the service was nice; our plates were taken away when we finished them and the staff was overall attentive. I liked that they were flexible and could host a party of 7.

Yelp
Was craving Filipino food and decided to order through DoorDash since I have a sleeping child at home. I remember dining in once and the portions were huge! Ok, so I chose this place out of all these other Filipino restaurants for delivery. Come to open my delivery and they're in small containers. The pinakbet was $22 and the Laing was $19! The Laing isn't even full, only half way! See the photos posted. The vegetables in the pinakbet such as the eggplant and bitter melon are barely cooked! There's also no flavor to the pinakbet! It's just salty. This is probably the worse pinakbet I've ever tasted. The taro leaves in the Laing were barely cooked too! Maybe the chefs need to spend a little more time cooking. Yeah not worth it for to-go/delivery! What a rip off!

Yelp
On my first visit, I enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and friendly customer service. Both pork dishes we chose were very flavorful. We had pork adobo and barbecue pork skewers. I would love to go back and do karaoke next time.

Yelp
Filipino restaurants are plentiful in the Cerritos area. My mom and I were returning from her doctor's appointment and decided to try "MP Bistro" that came up on yelp. It was on our route to her place. The signage for the restaurant appeared though as "Kusina Filipina." There were many empty tables and chairs on a weekday afternoon. There was also a bar and empty stage. They seem to be attempting for a classy, upscale bar and grill vibe. We were greeted by the guys at the bar and one of them came over to serve us. We were also informed that they have live music on weekend evenings. I showed our server the yelp app showing MP Bistro and the check in our for a free soda. He informed me that the restaurant used to be MP Bistro "a long time ago and they are now Kusina Filipina." He was kind enough to honor the previous restaurant's check in offer. When my mom used to live in the South Bay, she had a local restaurant that she regularly ordered an eggplant dish from. Spotted it on KF's menu and she was happy to order that as her main which is called "Tortang Talong." It's eggplant and scrambled egg. For starters, we got the crispy lumpiang shanghai which we both liked a lot. I'm a fan of getting Filipino breakfasts even if it is the afternoon or evening. I actually forgot to photograph but, I got tocino which is a savory and a little sweet pork dish, garlic fried rice, and scrambled eggs. Just OK because the tocino was a tad overcooked. Mom was good with everything including her fruit drink. It is not our favorite Filipino food spot but, I'll give them 3 stars.

Yelp
This was our first time here. So we didn't know what to expect. Clean with a nice atmosphere, we really enjoyed the food we ordered. I was craving eggplant so we tried the torta talong breakfast and we also got the kare kare oxtail dish. I have to say that we were very pleasantly surprised - the torta talong was incredibly tasty, there was almost a fluffy texture to it that I absolutely loved and the kare kare oxtail dish was absolutely perfect, even its presentation! The sauce was thick, the meat and vegetables were cooked to the right texture and even the bagoong tasted better than what we normally get with this dish! Was it homemade?? Most places we get kare kare, the sauce is watered down. So you can imagine how quickly we ate all of that up! I would definitely come back to eat here again. Mmmmm!

Yelp
Okay first of all i went here for an event. Doesnt matter if there is allot of people. Quality is still a must. Very disappointed how they cook and serve the food. Blood was coming out of the chicken when you start cutting it.

Yelp
Best Filipino food I've tried in the area and I'm biased since I grew up in the Motherland. Lol! The Beef Kaldereta tasted like it did back home. It's a little pricey, but worth it. I do wish, they would offer 1 free rice bowl and charge for the second one. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you're interested in authentic Filipino cuisine.
google avatar

Paula T.

Yelp
Came here with my honey to see a friends cousin perform. Must I say we got the meat platter to share between, my child, my honey and myself, and some garlic rice and white rice. It was delicious, flavorful and tender to eat. I rarely go to Filipino restaurants since my mother in law cooks it at home, but this was a wonderful find. Honey approved and will definitely go back with the rest of the familia. Only thing was my calamansi margarita was room temp warm. Other than that everything was top notch.

Yelp
It's a little bit pricey for the taste of the food. I don't mind paying if I enjoyed my food but the Crispy Pata was dry and the pancit was lacking in taste. Service was fast. We were the first and only customers. The wait staff were nice. The place is clean, cozy. I've been here before... years ago. I want to try coming here on a weekend night and order the other food on the menu.

Kate O.

Yelp
TL;DR Check your receipts and compare to menu prices. Hidden fees are added per item, which are also taxed and gratuity is automatically added regardless of party size. The itemized receipt did not match menu prices. When asked about this, I was told there are fees for paying by card and if I was to pay by cash, then the fees will be removed. I opted paying cash and asked for a new itemized receipt to verify the amount, said they cannot provide a receipt without the fees. When I checked the original receipt even further, noticed that tax were applied to the subtotal which included the fees. There was no separate line item for the fees on the receipt. There was no written/verbal notice that fees would be applied to the total bill. To add to that, gratuity was automatically calculated - even if our party was less than 6 guests. When asked about the gratuity, they said it was because they have a band playing on Fridays-Sundays. Again, this is not in any writing. The server made corrections to the bill - provided the corrected receipt and removed the gratuity. However, not informing consumers of fees/other charges and not being transparent with pricing is wrong and deceitful - taking advantage of a community having a salu-salo. This is a reminder, review your receipts.

Yelp
Overpriced, food not as good for the price. Spent almost $50 for 2 items-14 pcs of skinny egg rolls (not much meat, mostly wrapper) and beef steak with tons of sauce.

Ryan K.

Yelp
We love to come over here Food is so freaking good! Workers they're nice. Ambiance can't go wrong. Can't beat the food here love it Hi to Ryan our server all the time I mean they are nice! Food is the best! Halo Halo OMG! Great entertainment

Yelp
The best kare kare! Super masarap! Laing is high-quality and sisig is an amazing choice as well. You have to go here today.

Yelp
I was so excited to order Crispy Pata but I'm so disappointed. For the price of $28.99. It was all bone...
google avatar

Linda S.

Yelp
Amazing food, perfect service, and great vibes! Loved the live band!! Definitely coming back
google avatar

Seve N.

Yelp
I'm a little conflicted with the pricing. Maybe the oxtail kare kare was worth $27. But the tortang talong? For $16.64? For ONE talong? And also my 18% tip was calculated with the tax included. Shouldn't the tip only for the subtotal? Why do I have to give a tip for the tax? am I missing something here?
google avatar

Kate N.

Yelp
Good food compare to other Filipino restaurants here in Cerritos. Service is good their attentive, ambiance is good also. Ryan the server he always take care of us also the only lady here. Tonight they have good live band they're play good music to dance. I'll highly recommended this place. Guys support this Pinoy restaurant!

Yelp
One of the less flavorful restaurants in an area that boasts quite a few other Filipino selections. Also, one of the more pricier ones as well. We ordered quite a bit off the menu as to have a chance to try as much as we could but in all honesty, they come out very underwhelming which was a surprise to me. The calamari was very chewy and there were parts of it that seemed like the batter didn't have enough time to fry. The seasoning too was sparse and basic. We barely got any meat in the Kare Kare. The serving size for the sisig was also quite small, the adobo had little pieces of bone throughout the dish. We must have come on a day where the server was either distracted or didn't feel like coming in cause he was on his phone the whole time. Just a very disappointing experience. An issue that also bothered me was towards the end of our meal we asked for to go boxes while another group came in. They treated much better by the same server. Not sure if they were friends or what but our requests were completely stalled while the laughed and joked around with one another. By the time we were able to flag down another server to pay for our meal we did just that, ended up leaving the food and took off. Kusina has some potential. Aesthetically, it passes the vibe check. Location is great especially being right across from the mall. But their service needs a definite overhaul. I wouldn't come back especially knowing Salo Salo is right across the street where we've gotten great service and courtesy every time we've went there.

Thess Q.

Yelp
Kudos to the whole staff for working tirelessly to ensure we got the best service, sumptuous, yummy food! Special thanks to the manager Ace for accommodating last minute changes and requests! You guys are the best ! See you again next year for our event!
google avatar

Debbie Mary A.

Yelp
Great food and customer service ! Especially the bangus sinigang! Highly recommend. The kaldereta is also a favorite. We have been ordering from them for awhile now, however, we've noticed that they decreased their portions drastically. It's almost half of how much they used to serve.

Jon D.

Yelp
Not what it used to be. They use to serve flavorful food. Portions are not what their menus show.
google avatar

Ariane M.

Yelp
The food is of high quality! People are nice especially the owner. They have a very clean environment and good sound system for entertainment.

S B.

Yelp
This review is for their breakfast buffet. Do yourself a favor and don't go. For 17.99, the selections were minimal. There was no longanisa. What Filipino breakfast buffet doesn't have longanisa? The beef tapa and tosino were swimming in sauce. They had a soup and pancit as well that were both unappetizing. That was really all the selection.
google avatar

Alyssa M.

Yelp
The food was always great here. But what bothers me is the smell. There is a very strong chemical smell coming from the bathroom and it gets pretty chilly inside. Also the people cleaning the tables gives off the chemical smell. I think they should really take account of the chemical smell because it can ruin people's appetite. Service was okay since we have to reach down the server if we needed water or any sauces.

Raymond S.

Yelp
Overpriced food, mediocre quality, and a subpar service restaurant. Needs a lot of improvements on food portion relative to pricing, food quality assessment, and service training for staff.
google avatar

Dina L.

Yelp
Entertainment is the best here. Better than Gerry's Grill!!! Parking was challenging but not bad at all. Servers were attentive.

Robyn G.

Yelp
Good portions and tasty food! Kind waitstaff always and the food comes out fast and hot! Definitely a go-to place for our family.

Dean S.

Yelp
There are lots of Filipino restaurants to choose from, but we have always liked Kusina Filipina for large groups or my family of 5. Prices may seem higher but servings are large and everything is so good! Service is very good and friendly also. Love the sinigang and sisig!

Siegfred P.

Yelp
I just want to say thank you very much to Kusina Filipina for your delicious and clean food service. It has been months since I first tried your Filipino cuisine, and every time we have a celebration, we always order from there. It feels like home! Kudos to the manager!

John M.

Yelp
Food is good. As advertized Band starts at 7:00 PM so we went in at about 6:45 PM to dine in and listen to some music. However, the band started their set-up and sound checking at 6:45 PM till 8:30PM. What a waste of time for us expecting a little entertainment.

Susan C.

Yelp
I spent about $60 and none of the dishes I ordered were worth the price. The fried bangus tasted flat, I used a lot of patis just to put a taste to it. The fried lumpia shanghai were soggy, not crunchy, the filling was tasteless, just ground pork wrapped in the egg roll wrapper. The torta talong tasted old, reheated. I was disgusted and felt like sending everything I ordered but I will not order ever again from this place and warn others of my bad experience, waste of money!! I'd like to support Filipino business but this Kusina is not worth it!!!

Sandra M.

Yelp
Food is avg. Not a lot of people at this restaurant on a Saturday evening. Service avg. Ambiance pretty avg, too. Unfortunately, nothingnew that I could think of that would set this restaurant apart from other Filipino restaurants in the area. There's a lot of competition in Cerritos. The band that played was good. Music was mostly from the 80s & 90s, & ballads. It is always hard to talk to & understand people at the table when the band is playing. We were visiting family & opted to have dinner here. Not sure if I'd go back to this restaurant.
